Fantastic local museum in an old water pumping station. Even better on the days when the steam pump is in action. Model steam railway in the grounds and nice little tea room.

You can experience the Blackwater Estuary from an original Thames Sailing barge. It's a marvellous opportunity to see the famous Essex salt marshes and estuary coastline from the deck .

Fantastic walks around the marshes. Wonderful old wooden boat sheds, a sea water open swimming pool and The Sail Loft vintage tearooms. Walk, swim and have tea and cakes afterwards….

Walk here along the sea wall from our house. It takes around an hour and a half (or cycle or drive) and then visit the Chequers pub for a drink and pub food or the fantastic Salty Dog tea rooms .
