City/town information
Jersey City, or JC, sits on the West Bank of the Hudson River, directly across from downtown Manhattan. Convenient public transportation options are available to NYC as well as some of the greatest views of the city. Liberty State Park, the largest state park in NJ, is right down the street from here. From LSP there are ferries to NYC and tour boats to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. JC has become a dining destination in recent years. It has a mix of new and historic buildings and a well established art scene.

Neighborhoods
My neighborhood is Bergen Lafayette, sometimes called Bela.
There are many parks around, the largest is Liberty State Park. A bike ride in the park offers some of the best views of NYC. Bela is a more quiet, residential part of JC, but there are some great restaurants nearby.

Corgi Spirits, Jersey City distillery. Check calendar for live events: tastings, music, comedy club, drag bingo. Food trucks. Interesting interior, distillery tour shows how they make gin and vodka.
Outdoor seating with amazing sunset views of Liberty Harbor marina and NYC. Gourmet burger with the best duck fat fries. Also have a more upscale menu.
Good food, good view but their restaurant schedule is somewhat limited.

Site Seeing
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Catch the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from Liberty State Park. Also the Empty Sky 9/11 memorial is at the southern edge of Liberty State Park next to the historic Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal.
Great place for kids' activity, but also a spectacular planetarium for all ages. Next to Liberty State Park. Less than 10 minute walk from here.
