Food scene

This is my favorite restaurant in the center. It's tiny, the waiters are super nice, the menu is small and the food is amazing. There's always a new menu every Thursday so it's always fresh.

The cafe next to my house. Super cozy. Open from 8am-5pm. I love the matcha latte. They have these things they call "braids" (fléttur) which are lovely sweet treats.

A food hall close to the apartment. A raw space with many restaurants, great when you are in the mood for different foods but want to eat together. I recommend KoRe.

The best old school burgers in town. Super small place by the harbour. The house used to serve the harbour and doubled as a café and was designed by Iceland’s big-name architects back in the day. Recommend the steak burger, or veggie (some say it's nice to add bacon to the veggie burger).

Swimming pool

The 107-swimming pool. Very popular by locals. Go in the morning and meet all the old folks who go every morning, or in the afternoon when all the kids go play in the pool. Or at night. Or when it's raining. It's all perfect. Remember to wash without a swimsuit before going in. We all do it.

Museums

If you're only staying in Reykjavík this is a great place to experience Icelands nature. And even if you do travel around. I've been three times as an Icelander. The music is amazing and it's just always fun to feel like you're on a rollercoaster.

Marshall húsið is a museum, there you can visit the modern galleries: Nýló, Kling og Bang and i8. And the studio of Ólafur Elíasson. There's also a super nice restaurant on the first floor. (and there's almost never a line to the bathroom). The house used to be a herring factory. And the exterior was kept the same, which is amazing.

A very nice gallery down town Reykjavík. Soon they will open a hall with the highest ceiling height of all galleries in Reykjavík, if you're into that kinda stuff.

Bónus is the cheapest supermarket. Four minute walk from the house. Doesn't have all the fancy things, but you can get all your basics there.

The price is between Nettó and Bónus. Not cheap but not overly expensive. I mostly shop food there. It has nice veggies and fruit and many options. And sushi!
