A historic park with many outside activities including caves, natural bridges and seasonal glow worms. There are tours and talks by park rangers. In 2015, Pickett CCC Memorial State Park and Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area earned Silver-tier International Dark Sky Park designation. It became the first state park in the Southeast to gain this prestigious recognition. Visitors can enjoy sweeping, rich views of the night sky similar to those found in many of the Western states.

Excellent hike with an amazing destination. This hike begins just about five miles from the retreat, driving on beautiful park roads. Bring your lunch, you’ll want to stay all day and maybe do a few more hikes from there.

The O bed wild and scenic River stretches along the Cumberland plateau and offers visitors white water rafting and rock climbing. It passes through gorges that reach up to 500 feet deep. The area remains much as it appeared when the settlers first arrived in the late 1700s. It is preserved by the national park service including 45 miles of the river which teams with a variety of different fish. The park also offers various outdoor recreational opportunities, including several hiking trails.
