Local Walking/Hiking

Places to walk or hike
This park is not far away at all…about 5 mins depending on which entrance you go choose. Great scenery for leisurely walks on paved paths or you can step off the path and do some light to moderate hiking in the thick of it.

This park is about 12 mins away and has mostly paved paths…off the path hiking on dirt trails is harder to find and used more by mountain bikers. If you take the main path down to the river though, you can take a very nice walk up the creek to your left in the sand with bare feet….it’s covered over with growth so a very nice, cool and refreshing walk. You can also walk down river to the right but will probably want to keep your shoes on…some nice views and small falls there to enjoy.

This is a beautiful state part with a small beach, picnicking areas, camping areas, hiking/biking trails, some putt-putt golf, disc golf, paddle boating, etc. Beautiful lake and several historical markers in the area to explore including a log cabin from 1793 as well as a cemetery.

This is a beautiful place to see. You can stay up top and enjoy the views or head down on well groomed trails. Just make sure you have what it takes to get back out!…pretty steep climb!
