Food scene

Northwest Arkansas has some excellent food options.
Fancy enough for a client or a casual business lunch, casual enough for kids. Easily one of the best burgers in town.

You know the food is good when you see people of all kinds: young couples, hospital workers, old couples, firemen, all hitting the same restaurant. Quick serve. Low key atmosphere. Food is fantastic. Smoked on site.

Quick serve taco joint. Super tasty because of unique combinations (Jamaican jerk chicken in a taco? Okay.). Portions are out of control so plan to share or have leftovers.

Fancy enough to impress a date, servers are friendly, and atmosphere is upscale, but very casual attire. Everything is made fresh. Wood fired, thin crust pizza. Nom. Nom.

The lemon French toast is amazing. Can’t go wrong with their savory country breakfast either.

Stuff to do

Skip the tour, (or just go in for a snapshot of Sam Walton’s original Ford F-150) then go straight for the dessert diner and get a slice of pie or ice cream.

This man-made reservoir is more like a park with manicured lawns, paved walkways, and play structures. Kids can also play in the stone-lined stream (no mud!). Totally modern structures, clean restrooms, and drinking fountains. Great for an afternoon nap on the grass or for a morning run, or a stroll on wide, paved trail around this lake.

FREE. This is world class architecture and the museum itself offers much more than you should expect from a town the size of Bentonville and it's free because of generous grants. It's a great space for a stroll to appreciate the architecture nestled in the ozark hills and the art. The museum has free viewing of its impressive permanent collection, and you can see paid exhibits depending on what's traveling through at the moment. There's a restaurant and a museum shop that has unique offerings.

Neighborhoods

Come for the Farmers market on Saturdays in the summer through September, which draws food trucks and vendors. Or on any given day the area has lots of boutique clothing, cupcakes, bike shops, and even a record store.
