You may have heard of Shepherdstown's Yellow Brick Bank, where Nancy Reagan used to meet George Will for lunch. While that establishment is long gone, you can still enjoy the chef's formidable cooking skills at the Press Room. Have a drink at the bar, and enjoy the menu which includes a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes that get inspiration from Northern Italy. Don't miss out on the oysters if they are on the night's menu. Spendy, but worth it. Reservations recommended. (304) 876-8777

This local favorite has the best burgers in town. You'll walk in to the bar, but locals know the real draw is the garden in back. You can eat on the lovely stone tables or rest in the swing supported by one of the beautiful giant trees. Place your order at the bar and food will be brought to you. Monday nights are discounted burgers, and other nights feature open mic and live music. 21+

The appeal of Blue Moon is the outdoor seating that features the Town Run's water coursing through. Great place for vegetarian options. During COVID they close pretty early in the day, so we recommend for lunch. This place can be jumping on the weekends with tourists. Note: This was once our favorite family restaurant, but recent management issues have us questioning if we'll go back. Time will tell.

The owner of the Good Shop used to run one of the original punk emporiums in New York's Village. Now her offerings are decidedly more gentrified; you'll find a wide assortment of women's clothing and accessories featuring many European brands. Don't be surprised if there is random new old stock of Doc Martins boots though!
