Rentals are available, including aqua bikes, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards. There's easy access to swimming, boating, volley ball, a playground, and public restrooms. Most of this area has a universal design making it accessible to everyone. During July and August on Thursday nights there are free concerts. The nature walk is located to the right of the beach when you are looking at Lake Everest. This simple trail loop is a combination of trail and boardwalk.

Both Bear Den and Flume Knob have beautiful views from the top and are quick and enjoyable hikes that provide sustained uphill hiking, but nothing too technical or challenging, making them a great pick for families introducing their kids to hiking, or those out for a quick morning or afternoon hike in between other activities in Placid.

Traveler advice

What to pack

Dogs should be treated for ticks

We suggest dogs be treated for ticks if they are exploring the woods or hiking. We have never had any issues but our dog is treated.
What to pack

Bring Reusable Grocery Bags

New York State does not allow stores to use plastic bags so it is a good idea to pack some reusable bags.
What to pack

We have dog waste bags!

In the drawer under the microwave we have dog waster bags for your convenience! Please clean up after your pup!
What to pack

Charcoal

We have a charcoal grill at the lodge. So if you plan to grill bring some charcoal. You can also buy some at the supermarket near by. We have grill tools in the kitchen.
Don't miss

Ferry to Burlington, VT

If you have extra time to explore we love to catch the ferry in Plattsburgh which takes us across to Vermont. You can drive your car on the ferry then once in Vermont it is a quick drive to Burlington, VT which has a great food and beer scene.
