A very lovely bar and restaurant with a variety of menu options. It is wise to make a reservation and if weather permits, it is especially nice to sit outside beneath the mammoth beech tree, for which it is named. Medium pricing but good value for a special night's meal.

Getting around

Getting to Newport

The Newport Bridge is $4 ea. way unless you have a RI-issued EZ Pass (.90 ea way). It is often under construction as well. It is still the fastest way to get to Newport, but during the summer especially, you may find it difficult and very expensive to park. An option is to take the Jamestown Ferry which leaves from the dock downtown (5 min walk). The fee and trip length is more, but it is a lovely way to see the bay, get to downtown Newport and avoid the hassles of driving and parking. https://www.conanicutmarina.com/jamestown-newport-ferry-tours-cruises/routes-and-schedule

Travel by car and parking is not difficult here but bikes are a great way to see the shoreline, neighborhoods and beaches. We have a safe place to store yours or rent them at the end of our street.
