Traveler advice
Getting around
Breezy Cab drivers are local drivers that know the island
Call Breezy Cab at (912) 665-9988, tell them where you are and where you want to go. You don't have to know the address, just the name of the restaurant/bar/apartment complex. They know the island very well and will get you where you need to go.
Book before you go
Leaving the island on weekends
If you want to go into Savannah, plan to do so on a week day. Getting back on Tybee on weekends could take a long time. There is only one road on and off the island. So, if you do visit Savannah during the weekend, plan to come back later in the day to avoid some traffic.
Customs and culture
Tybee is open container
On Tybee and in Savannah, you can walk around with an open container, as long as it is not glass. If caught with glass, you may receive a large fine.
Customs and culture
Dogs
We have two great dog parks on Tybee. They are both by the camp ground and police station on Van Horne. One is for large dogs, the other for small dogs (you can decide which is best for your dog, regardless of size), but please note that dogs are NOT allowed on the beaches. If caught, you may get a large fine. Also note that dogs must be on leashes (except in the dog park), if caught without a leash, you may get a large fine. You can also go to Daffin Dog Park on Bee Road. It is in Savannah.
