A colorful character. Count Roger de Bussy-Rabutin (1618-1693), cousin of Madame de Sévigné, was both a soldier, a courtier and a recognized writer. He was expelled from the court for having exposed the gallantries of the greats of his time in the Love Story of the Gauls. A successful rescue. In the 19th century, the Count of Sarcus began the restoration and obtained the classification as a historic monument in 1862, inaugurating the national protection of private properties. Bought by the State in 1929, the estate has undergone major restoration work since the 1970s.
