Aurum is our top recommendation for a fancy meal in Breckenridge. Bonus points for it being literally across the street. Check out the happy hour from 4-6, which has half off apps, including a delicious burger and fries.

Another great option for an upscale meal and great happy hour from 4-6 pm, including a daily $5 cocktail. Offerings change seasonally, so it is a great place to check out year round.

Hands down the best coffee in Breckenridge. And we were blown away by the food - impressive for any restaurant, let alone a coffee shop. We have not had a bad breakfast sandwich, salad, lunch sandwich, open faced sandwich (pizza basically). Bonus points - they have a great online platform for ordering, which is great to order ahead to pick up a breakfast lunch for a picnic on the slopes or on a hike.

Great spot for a fancy dinner for couples or large group to celebrate a fancy occasion. Steaks are top notch, but there is also a great happy hour and a more casual “bar side” if you aren’t up for the white tablecloths .

Recreation

This is a great trail for hiking or biking in the summer or cross country skiing or snowshoeing in the winter. It is about 2 miles to the old mine, where there are great views of Keystone ski resort.

For the advanced hikers, this trail will take you above 14,000 ft (a 14er) to the top of Quandary Peak. Start early, check weather forecast, bring lots of water, plan on going about 3x slower than a normal hike, be off summit by noon to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. The trail to the summit is 3.5 miles one way. This is a great place to see big horn sheep, even if you don’t go all the way up!

Super fun sledding hill. We have sleds available in the unit or there are usually ones available from the city to borrow.

Fun park for 2-5 year olds, near the path to the troll. Normal playground equipment with train theme and an old train! My kids like pretending to take train tickets at the ticket booth!

Go troll hunting for this large wooden sculpture in the woods! There is a short path to the troll from the ice rink parking lot. You can either walk to the ice rink from the condo (short 3/4 mile walk there), or drive (plenty of parking). The path is wide, flat, and well tracked, even in the winter.

This is the central town square - great meeting spot, picture spot, picnic spot (there are picnic tables) and there is a small playground for kids. There is often live music or events. Also steps down to the river for wading / rock throwing.
