The Essex river meanders through lovely expanses of saltmarshes, and several nice seafood restaurants and a brand new brewpub have gorgeous estuary views. The rich local history has cultivated many antique shops, making Essex like Mecca for shoppers and browsers of fine old items. Also popular is the history of ship building, including a cool active boatcraft museum.
