While Phoenix afternoons are often warm, temperatures can swiftly change with the setting sun. Just because it is a desert, doesn't mean it can't get cold at night! Check the forecasted lows and plan accordingly.

Desert Songs
If temperatures allow, sleep with the windows open at night. You may be treated with the sounds of coyotes from the nearby desert preserve. They communicate with short, staccato-like yips, which are easily distinguishable.
