MEOTO ZENZAI was established in 1883 on the corner of Hozenji in Osaka. The classic film by Oda Sakunosuke, 'Meoto Zenzai' was also filmed on this location as well. Here at this Zenzai shop, each order of redbean and mochi dessert is split in two to be shared. This tradition evokes equality and caring for one's significant other the Zenzai tradition also has been popular with singles, for giving them good luck in finding the love of their lives.

The origin of this practice is said to be that worshippers who did not bring offerings splashed the statue with water. Due to the large amount of water that worshippers have splashed on the statue over the years, lots of moss has grown there giving the statue a beautiful green appearance.
