One of the finest examples of the rooftop bar trend currently winding its way through Warsaw, Level 27 offers splendid views of the sprawling city and a fabulous mix of relaxation, cocktails, and clubbing. It all starts with the view at Level 27, as from its perch on the 27th floor of the Millennium Plaza building, you are treated to sweeping views of the Polish capital’s numerous skyscrapers, including the famous Palace of Science and Culture. If you have arrived during pleasant weather, you will find a huge terrace waiting for you complete with two bars, cool white couches, and blowing palms.

An evening of unexpected fun can be found at Warsaw’s La Playa club. Be transported somewhere tropical at this beachy bar, which plays music from around the world for you to dance to in the sand. If sports are more your scene, La Playa offers organized games such as beach volleyball for some friendly competition. The “urban beach” vibe of the venue is complemented by a cocktail list that includes fruity vodka drinks evocative of summertime no matter the season.

This sparse and bunkerlike club based on the Berlin underground techno model is situated in a grand old city centre townhouse, just seconds away from the landmark ‘palm tree’. The music delves deep into the murky world of all aspects of electronica but they’re a pretty radical and experimental group of folks, so you never know what musical journey they’ll whisk you through. Three dancefloors, including the newly installed outdoor patio space (the neighbours will love that one), three bars (cocktails included) and a chillout room make up this hugely popular venue. Keeping things enigmatic and secretive, they have a strict “no photos/no smartphone” policy and some pretty cryptic advertising clips which tell you nothing.

Warsaw’s first hyper-posh rooftop nightspot is finally here, and it’s everything you imagine it to be and more. Once you clear the streetside queue (get there promptly at 22:00 or suffer the consequences), squeeze past the burly bouncers and stroll the red carpet in the lobby before entering the club in the clouds. The 360 degree bird's eye views alone are worth the trip as you emerge right in the middle of Warsaw's rapidly rising skyline. Take it all in with a bubbly cocktail in hand, but if you want a seat make sure you reserve ahead of time. Aside from A-list DJs and all-night parties al fresco and in the newly opened club space (28th floor), The View promises, above all, primo people-watching as the city's glitterati, celebs and business tycoons all crowd around the iconic circular bar. The place to see and be seen in Warsaw.

A no-expense spared design masterpiece found in the basement of the National Opera. Descend the curving stairwell and all you’ll see is boys with attitude, dressed in popped collared polo shirts, and a heart-stopping spread of gazelle-like girls. If you were wondering where the good lookers went, you’ve found the answer. Tread down wood boards and through vaulted tunnels to reach the main arena, checking out the numerous side rooms on the way; this place was formerly known as Bedroom, and that’s because of the alcoves found shooting off in every direction. Each comes decorated with poufs, loungers and Persian drapes, and serve as a great spot to enjoy illicit activities. If you're searching for a venue for your next private party, you can rent out the whole place from Sun-Fri.

The ‘Koszyki’ market hall, also referred to as ‘People’s bazaar’ was built in 1906-1908 in Koszykowa Street in Warsaw at the then ‘Koszyki’ grange place. For many years it performed as the main city market, very modern as for its times. Today Hala is ahead of its time again – it’s a pioneering solution of a place where 18 restaurants, 11 groceries, a fine Bazar Koszyki open from dawn to dusk, a chemist, a bookstore and a kitchen accessories and appliances shop are lined up next to each other.

I must be honest – I used to avoid Zapiecek in the past. I always thought it may be one of those “tourist traps”, you know: expensive, not very good food, having nothing in common with Polish cuisine at all… I was so, so wrong! Definitely the best pierogi in Warsaw – you just need to try them, as well as red broth. The decor of a country cottage, waitresses in folk costumes – definitely worth a visit to get a short glimpse at traditional Polish heritage. We often come here for pierogi with forest mushrooms (from the pan) and sweet pierogi with strawberry and sweet cream. Yum!

Fukiera is Warsaw’s oldest restaurant and without doubt it is also the most famous, boasting a clientele that includes Roman Polanski, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and many royals. The atmosphere is a unique mix of medieval and old aristocracy, while the menu is a lavish version of traditional Polish cuisine. Candlelight in combination with a superb wine list set the mood for the perfect romantic evening in an environment that will transfer you to a different era. Grilled steak is the speciality dish and there is a varied choice of fresh fish. The restaurant is situated in the vibrant Old Town, ideal for taking in a stroll after your meal.

The palace at the southern end of the Royal Route came through the Second World War without a scratch. So Wilanów Palace is a rare glimpse of the majesty of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth before Poland was annexed by Prussia and Russia in the late-18th century. This palace was intended as a summer escape for King Jan III Sobieski towards the end of the 17th century, and has all the hallmarks of Baroque palace architecture, including a parterre with two terraces boasting topiaries, broderie and statues symbolising love. The exterior is laden with medallions, busts, statues and other Baroque ornamentation, while interior decor abounds with stuccowork, striking trompe-l’œil frescoes and chinoiserie. High points are the sumptuous White Hall, traced by mirrors, the King’s Library, the King’s Bedroom and the North Gallery, flanked by statues and with magnificent ceiling frescoes.
