What to pack
It is best to have a rental car available if you are flying in to get around. You can also Uber
Centrally located with easy access to Interstate 64, two international airports, and Amtrak. Taxi service, ride sharing (both Uber and Lyft), shuttle and limo services and Hampton Roads Transit bus service are available if you choose to leave your car at home.

There are an abundance of activities to participate in that require minimal fees.
the daily newspaper is a god source of information to find out what is going on in the city and where. Also use your google search to find what is close.
