Our favorite restaurants

East Boston is filled with fabulous restaurants. The Mexican ones in particular are really awesome and super close. There are also some great Italian options and bars / breweries close by.
This place is right behind our home! You can go out onto the deck to smell the fabulous food. On a great night you can enjoy takeout from this restaurant on the deck. If you decide to eat in definitely get one of their delicious drinks.

When we went here we got a meal with their mole - apparently they are known for this and it was delicious! They will actually let you try the sauce before you order it on a meal. This place can get quite crowded, so you should make reservations if possible to avoid a long wait.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants in all of Boston. They are a tiny place that doesn't take reservations and the wait can be upwards of 2-3 hours on the weekend. Most people say it is worth the wait!

This is our "go to" brewery - they are a cider house and they are awesome!! Down East is located near Pier's Park and they are in a warehouse type location. Each time you visit they give you 5 free samples of the cider and then you can always purchase your favorite one in cans or growlers. Definitely check this place out. If you sign up for the tasting tour then they tell you the history while doing taste tests!

If you are interested in a super inexpensive brunch then you need to hit up La Hacienda on the weekends for brunch. This restaurant was recommended to us when we first moved here and it didn't disappoint! It is a super low key brunch with many options (they serve everything in tin pans and it is all you can eat for like $10). They have everything from papusas to eggs to plantains and pancakes. This is definitely where the locals go, so don't be surprised to feel out of place if you go here!
