Classic, 1963 Beach shack, furnished with a designer eye. Featured on @australian_architectural_escapes and selected by Concrete Playground as Victoria's perfect escape for a Digital Detox! Elevated at the highest point on the hill, a 450m walk to Beach 5, Tea Tree Hill is the perfect city detox. A simple combination of light filled, private & social spaces, inside and out. Check Insta @teatreehill / #teatreehill for more shots!
This space is a true haven, a true escape... There were plans to renovate, or rebuild completely, but internal spaces are so original, and so relaxing, that it only took a layering of modern comforts to make it a comfortable, low-maintenance weekend escape. In an attempt to bring a little more romance, in December 2016 We added an exclusive outdoor bathroom featuring custom imported finishes, and beautiful Cocoon Eco Fire. All yours to indulge in and enjoy. The art is original, and many furniture pieces have been commissioned by local artisan's - the side and coffee tables, the dining room centrepiece and the handles all locally produced. Vintage European furniture by Cappellini and Erkhol, and accessories from travels all over the world have been used to finish the space. A Bang & Olufsen sound system drives the mood. Candles, essential oils, and unique lighting ensure the space can be tailored to whatever mood you're in. The television is connected to a DVD player and XBOX. We have not connected the antenna - you're at the beach, get out there! Children's toys, drawing equipment & board games sit awaiting a rainy day, as do a diverse range of cook books, cooking equipment & design magazines... Complimentary Whisky and Port await your call for a night cap, and fresh coffee will get you up in the morning. NOTE the kitchen does NOT feature an OVEN - I use the bbq or fire pit to roast! If possible, sleep with the window open, the sound the ocean is the best....
Venus Bay remains the quintessential beach escape. There is so much of 'nothing' to enjoy! Bordered by the inlet on one side, and wild (or beautifully calm (dependant on the day or hour!) Bass Strait on the other, you are guaranteed wonderful coastal scapes. The inlet (accessed from the boat ramp of the second estate, or any of the parking area's along Tarwin river, is a haven for great fishing, bird watching, or straight out relaxing... Watch the Bay for rips and currents - Venus has a reputation as a wild stretch of coast. Swim within your limits, or head up to the patrolled beach zone in Beach #1. If the wind is up, head down the road to Walkerville - facing the opposing direction, and with fantastic views of the prom, it's a must!
  • Great location -walking distance to the beach. The house was beautifully designed inside and out. The convenience of having an outside shower is great when returning from the beach covered in sand. A must stay in Venus Bay.

  • A perfect place to relax for a few days and we appreciated the local tips to make the most of our time

    James2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at this quintessential ‘beach shack’. Would definitely recommend, Dan’s a great host and very helpful with local insight.

  • Stylish space and beautiful location, we enjoyed our stay :)

    Yvette2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Dan was incredibly helpful, he's clearly spent time thinking about every detail! The location was beautiful - it really is the quintessential beach shack! Had such a nice today and would go back in a heart beat!

    Elise2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is relaxing with a vacation vibe. Dan was responsive and he provided a lot of useful information. It would be better if dishwasher and oven are provided and the WiFi connection is more stable.

    Rui2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place felt very special. An old-school style beach shack, but with extra attention to ambience. We spent every evening sitting in a beautifully lit space watching the fire while reading our books. Walking distance to an incredible beach and the area around here is so beautiful. Dan was really great to deal with - provided lots of great tips, very nice to deal with and quick to get back to us, and provided a few little extras which was nice. Also had toys for our kids and they had a great stay. Thank you

    Kate2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Dan's over new year. It is a beautiful space and very easy to laze away the day just out on the back deck. The location and surrounds are so wild and unique, it really is a fabulous getaway. Thanks again for sharing your home Dan and being a caring and attentive host.

This is a getaway for those who enjoy experiencing wildlife and nature in a charming rural setting. It's a handmade house that blends Japanese style architecture with recycled materials to create an absolute of one-of-a-kind place. We fell in love with the quirky place and bought it in 2005, from Jim, who sourced interesting recycled materials and built it pedantically by hand. A combination of his passion, his craftsmanship and interest in energy flow can be felt in the overall result.
Liptrap Loft is our first child and we have owned and managed her for over 12 years. It is a large shack built by hand from recycled timber and tin. Set on five acres, it is surrounded on all sides by bush land, with distant views across neighbouring farm land. You can't see another building, so it is very private, and there is lots of wildlife. The location is quite remote and the house is rustic. It is certainly not for everyone. To see if it will be right for you, check the "WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVE" section below. We love the place, but to get a true feel for Liptrap Loft, read the reviews there's hundreds. HISTORY The house was built by Jim, a man of unusual talents. Some say he was a builder and cabinet maker, others say a piano maker and champion runner - but all agree that he was a pedantic master craftsman. Jim searched the region for a secluded sanctuary in which to build his dream home. For years he was a virtual recluse, living in a tent while he painstakingly sourced recycled materials to build the house that is now Liptrap Loft. He reluctantly sold the house to study architecture at age 50. We came across the place when we were looking for an investment property. We had strict criteria detailed in spreadsheets showing the exact cash flow required for an investment. After searching Melbourne every bumper-to-bumper weekend for months, we were completely uninspired. So we took a weekend away in Gippsland. Some friends said "come and look at this quirky house, you'll like it". Dedication to any financial logic went out the window the first time we saw the Japanese bath house and smelled the woody interior. We fell in love with the place and bought it. They say buying property on emotion is a bad idea. It wasn't long before we realised we couldn't cover the mortgage. Reluctantly we decided we'd have to rent it out. But sometimes intuition is more powerful than logic. We started renting the house out to holiday makers. As popularity grew we were able to invest the income back into the property, based on feedback from guests and our vision of how it should grow. To our surprise we really liked having people stay and enjoy the place. It since has become our obsession. It is extraordinary to find so many people who share the passion we have for it. Twelve years on we are very proud of what we have created in Jim's spirit. Liptrap Loft is unique and rustic. If you are a "5 star - no less!" type of person, it probably wont be for you. Please make sure it is your 'cup of tea' before booking. OUR FAVOURITE REVIEW Magical Mystery Tour Liptrap Loft - Eugenie May 2014 "The quirky Liptrap Loft is almost Dr. Seuss Australia style, starting with the roof line. Upon entering one immediately laughs at the size of the four poster bed which is big enough for 8 people. Then opening the fridge one finds a telephone, and hot water bottle and a few other items. Only after a little more searching there is an operating fridge. Thank goodness. Filled with giggles, and quirks, and fun one checks out the outdoor Japanese bathhouse with the very quirky shower head dangling magically in space ….truly the whole experience was one big holiday from normalcy. It works. The pots and pans are best quality. The wood for the huge Coonara is plentiful if you can find the secret door! All in all we had a really lovely time, relaxing in this unique and fantastical environment. Generosity was the name of the game. Such a treat. Let your doggie friend also enjoy the whole deal. Wonderful!" FEATURES: - 5 minutes drive from Walkerville beach - 30 minutes from Wilsons Promontory - A 19th-century 4 poster giant KING bed (bigger than a king and taller than usual, imported from Holland, and found in Jakarta) - Japanese bath house with soak tub - Wood fired heater with generous wood supply included - Unique restored Oregon couch setting (imported from USA and found in Perth) - Broadband and WiFi - 1960's Oven and Stove - Large double fridge/freezer - Forest walk around the 5 acres bush land - 2 mountain bikes for guests to use (& helmets) - Roofed outdoor dog enclosure with kennel - 2 Dog beds for inside and outside - Dog chain and lead - Lawn bowls and cricket set - Hammock - Italian style stovetop coffee maker and French press (plunger) - BBQ -4 burne, quality cookware, wine glasses and essentials - Basic provisions like olive oil, spices, tea, coffee, Vegemite and Glad Wrap - The only dwelling on 5 acres. You cant see any other houses - Very private and secluded - Local info and tips sent on enquiry - Seamless process from enquiry to checkout - Pedantic and dedicated cleaner/caretaker - Ideal for couples, but can sleep 6 - Pets and children welcome WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVE There is no TV. Instead, it has a good selection of books and music (so our guests tell us). There are speakers in the bathhouse also. It has broadband, so you can take your computer and do some work if you feel like it. It has a hammock (which some people have even put up inside during inclement weather!). It does not have air conditioning. But it has a monster industrial fan (which is too big for the room and nearly blows you over, but it keeps you cool, and looks cool). It does not have an inside bathroom. You used to have to walk along the boardwalk to the bath house, but we have recently built a toilet just outside the front door. If you want to see the stars (they're definitely brighter than in Melbourne) you can still use the bath house, there is often wildlife around during the night. Stepping into the deep bath to bathe or shower would be a challenge for anyone with any mobility issues and problematic for anyone disabled. Linen is provided for the King 4-poster bed (as not everyone has King linen), but you will need to bring your own towels. If you are using the other 2 futons you will need to bring linen for these extra beds. We do provide tea towels as most people forget them (including us). The five acre fence is three wire farm fencing. It is not dog proof, and some of it has a low current to keep the livestock out. Most dogs stay around the house and there is a dog enclosure and kennel. PETS AND WILDLIFE The house was designed to highlight the bush views in all directions. So even if you are not outside, you can appreciate the wildlife, including wombats, koalas, echidnas, wallabies, blue tongue lizards in summer and frogs in winter. There is always bird-life around the property includes dazzling swallows and stunning black cockatoos. Keep the blinds up, to see the changing scenery, lighting and wildlife. We love and welcome pets! We have done what we can to make them comfortable with a dog stretcher for inside and out. We provide a chain and lead, and some dog toys and sometimes treats. We recently installed an outdoor enclosure. Its actually just a revamped avery. Its is approx 2m x 4m. It, has a roof & kennel with plenty of shade and breeze to keep pets comfortable and safe for a short time (i.e. if you are going to Wilson's Prom). AROUND THE LOCATION There is so much to do around the Walkerville/Cape Liptrap area. From beaches, to national parks, walking, cycling, wineries and Wilsons Prom. On booking we provide a 22 page "Things To Do" document. Liptrap Loft is not for everyone, but if you like character, charm and little surprises, there is every chance you will enjoy it like so many others have. If you have instagram, you can follow both our guests and our personal stays at @dufflebird_getaways
Your located in the green rolling hills of South Gippsland.
  • The house & bathhouse are really beautiful spaces, perfectly styled to feel like we were in a super special place but also cosy enough to feel at home. We loved the open plan living, music to play over the amazing speakers, books to read and all of the hot tips for places to see and things to do. We didn't venture out to any cafes or stores, and really didn't need to. It was so nice lying out on the grass amongst the birds and wildlife, and being a short trip to the incredible beaches at Walkerville. Liftrap Loft is at the top of our recommendations to friends and family. Thank you for having us Fleur, we loved every minute of our mini holiday!

  • We had a delightful stay at Liptrap Loft. Watching the clouds glide across the moon whilst soaking in the bath was truly a highlight! We wanted to be somewhere quiet, private and a bit different to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and Liptrap Loft was just right. Beautiful Walkerville South beach is just a short drive away and South Gippsland is full of treasures. The communication from Fleur was prompt, helpful and easy. Thanks for a great stay!

Then the cottage itself will entrance you with everything you need to have a wonderful comfortable stay. The magpies are so melodious, the sunrises are incredible, the possums leaving their apple cores on the deck is hilarious! • The house is lovely, with unique touches and great energy. It’s well equipped with everything you’d need. Really close to Wilson’s Prom entry too which was handy to go hiking everyday. Glenda & Ian were really responsive and helpful throughout. Only thing was that we booked a 2 bed, 2 bathroom place but only 1 bathroom was available to us. It would have been good to have both bathrooms but other than that it was good.

  • The beautiful tiny house was the perfect weekend getaway for us. It exceeded our expectations. The place had a nice overlooking view of the valleys and sunset. We were really impressed as to how the place was built and all the essential things were provided. It is a nice experience for relaxation and to just enjoy nature. It is also well-secured and very clean, there was nothing bad to say, as we really have a splendid time. It is a highly recommended place for anyone planning to spend time in Wilson’s Prom or just going to the country side. We would advise to at least stay there for 3 days to enjoy the experience. Moreover, the locales were very sincere and accomodating. Dom and Chris gave us fast responses and our needs were well-attended.

There is a bedroom, ensuite and kitchen/living space, plus an outdoor area with BBQ
The small coastal town of Inverloch has a huge length of coastline ranging from the safe surf beach to the calm waters of the inlet which are a popular kite surfing area. Close to Eagles Nest which delivered an amazing sunset while we were there, and Wilson's Prom which gave us a great day out. Kathryn and Peter's two dogs were so friendly and we really appreciated that shampoo, towels, eggs, bacon and milk were all provided. Easily one of my favourite Airbnbs for a getaway!

  • Book this cottage. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Charlie and Mark's place. The cabin itself was very clean comfortable and stylish but the views were the best. Also only 15 minutes from one of the best national parks in Australia (the world!?) with lots of animal sighting opportunities. I wish we lived closer so we could come back more often!

A beautiful coastal retreat, located within The Cape Ecovillage this 3 bedroom home is a short walk through the community gardens to the popular surf beaches and Cape Tavern. Spend afternoons by the water exploring the rock pools, the nearby countryside, coastal walks or just in the backyard enjoying the peace and quite. This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is split over two levels, providing the perfect space for a couple or a family/friends getaway. Architecturally designed and a sustainable home.
The region is full of great wineries, rugged coastlines and amazing produce. The home is a sustainably built home so it is super comfy with minimal requirement for heating and cooling, only 700m from the beach. There is a bunch of board games in the cupboard, a fire pit outside and loads of beautiful coastline to explore. Come and experience a touch of luxury by the coast. We also have a sister home in The Cape, called the 10 Star Home, also built by The Sociable Weaver and if you have a larger group is perfect to book alongside The Bungalow. It's only 1 street Away! You can check it out here: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/30797030?source_impression_id=p3_1563339629_PSJx5vQb%2F1FtSmAk
The Cape Tavern is the local pub which has great food and drinks, usually doing live music on the weekends. There is also a local general store for your basic supplies and a fish and chip shop. Nearby is the town of Wonthaggi, only a 5 minute drive up the road which has every supply you will need for the stay. Stop by at Goshen Country on the way which is a beautiful farm gate selling their own grown produce. Inverloch is another trendy town nearby which has a couple of local pubs, wineries, cafes and great shopping. Cape Paterson has a number of amazing beaches to suit everyone. There is a main surf beach with lifeguards patrolling, along with a smaller bay beach filled with amazing rock pools to explore. Cape seconds is the closest beach, perfect for the more experienced surfer or swimmer, or to watch the most incredible sunsets in the sand dunes.
  • Nice place that's only a short drive to Inverloch and Wonthaggi. Some nice paths to walk on in the Cape precinct. Maybe not close enough to water to walk to beach if you have kids and surf beaches nearby probably not ideal for kids either, but Inverloch shack bay rock pools are only 5 minutes drive away and good for toddlers/infants

  • Lovely, light and bright Scandi styled, eco house. Bathrooms are absolute show stoppers. The ammenities such shower wash, shampoo and conditioner were appreciated. TV, wifi and Netflix was an absolute highlight after a day at the beach. Beautiful living (great couch!) and kitchen space. Perhaps a few more cooking implements such as baking trays, fry pans etc would come in handy. Great for a family holiday. So cool on a hot Summer’s day. Reece is lovely to deal with and quick to respond. Thanks for having us!

  • Highly recommended for friends or families .... we were 6 plus baby and was perfect. Very stylish place but at the same time easy going and hassle free. The location is also super on the edge of Cape Paterson with other modern houses (and kangaroos) as neighbours. Walk to beach is longish but beautiful and Cape Paterson (and its pub) is very laid back and relaxing ... unlike the crowds of Inverloch for instance.

  • We loved staying at Bridget’s house in such a convenient location to Wilson’s Prom. We enjoyed our family morning walks into Foster for great coffee and our dog loved her walks through the reserves. The house is well equipped with everything you need.

  • My sister and I really loved staying at Bridget's accomodation. I was quite surprised at the selection of home cleaning products Bridget provided. She uses the same ones we use at home. They are all environmentally friendly and produced with natural ingredients. Kelly and I have a history with eczema. Our skin thanks you! x The home is located in the central of Foster. Surrounded by nature. Very walkable distance to the shops. It's a very big town with a large array of cafes, op-shops, Foodworks & IGA. Photos of the home definitely does not do justice! The ceramics to the timber bench tops and linen, gives you an idea that Bridget has great taste and is a very thoughtful person. Love it all. Worth staying here and visiting the mini towns surrounding the area if you're not visiting Wilson's Prom. Thank you once again, Leena x

  • My husband and I had a weekend getaway to support Gippsland communities post the fires. Bridget's house was such a lovely and peaceful location with a bush land outlook, walking distance to town and Maxes Restaurant (another new fav). We loved staying here and in Foster. Bridget added quite a bit of special touches such as milk in the fridge, lovely teas and body products. Her decor and artwork was also lovely. We would certainly stay here again.

  • Bridget's house exudes an understated, rustic country charm, that for us, felt homely and inviting while at the same time providing modern touches such as a beautiful kitchen and bathroom, all-the-while feeling immersed in lush vegetation... Although rainy when we stayed, the fire place and heater sure made for a cosy atmosphere - and the bed is excellent! Delighted to have stayed at Bridget's beautiful home.

    Diego2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget's place is a cute and comfortable cottage in a quiet street in Foster. The house overlooks a lovely bush setting. The shaded back garden and fencing for our dog was fantastic. The beds and linen were very comfortable. We enjoyed taking day trips to near by beaches and Wilson's Prom. We recommend Bridget's place, perfect for our family of four, plus dog.

Our home is open to guests to enjoy at their leisure, it is comfortable and has a deck where you can sit out and enjoy the lovely views over the farmland where the cows sometimes come over to graze. It is a 15-20 min walk to the beach and if you are going to Wilsons Prom it is about a 35min drive to the entrance. It is about a 50 min drive to Philip Island where the motorbike grand prix is held along with other races over the year. Wild life can often be viewed around Venus Bay in the evenings.
The bedroom is a good size and has a wide screen television to enjoy. There is a separate area where guests can go to have a game of pool or to watch television over a cuppa, also a continental breakfast is served in the mornings to start you on your day. Access to the internet is also available.
The neighborhood is quiet and safe.

Just a short trip to Wilson’s Prom where you can enjoy surfing and hiking and then head back to the cabin for a luxurious bath in the Japanese style tub (pick up some Epsom salts from the local town) MUST stock up on local produce and wine from the Meeniyan Pantry & Cellar for the perfect night in. We will be back, thank you!

    Mariah2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was everything and more we could have wanted for the weekend. The cabin is private and beautifully appointed space. It is fitted out extremely thoughtfully and tastefully for a wonderful escape to the country! The bath is super relaxing and the outlook to rolling hills spectacular! • The Ross Farm Cabin is an incredibly designed and constructed cabin, with stylish looks, a beautiful view and all the amenities you need and more. The Japanese style bath was a great experience, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck to eat our meals in front of a gorgeous view. Small touches like a staple food and treats on arrival (champagne might just be a new years eve touch? Haha!) were really appreciated. Andrea and her father Lindsay were fantastic hosts, and they should be proud of the tiny home they've created.

    Richard2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Andrea! The three of us had a great time

    Rosie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

    Tom2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Ross Farm Cabin. The setting was incredibly tranquil, with amazing views of green fields and rolling hills in the distance from the terrace and bedroom. The cabin itself was stylish and unique, with nice touches such as beautiful linen bedding, and everything we needed for our stay, including some lovely goodies for breakfast. The farm is only a minute from the Meeniyan town, which has an excellent woodfire pizza restaurant (we got takeaway and had it on the terrace with local wine) and a few great cafes and food shops. Andrea was also the perfect host – friendly, helpful and responsive. We'd recommend Ross Farm Cabin to anyone, and hope to be back soon!

  • HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Vanessa and Noel’s cottage was an incredible oasis that was just a mere 5 minute drive from the entrance of the National Park. The cottage was sparkling clean, with a jaw dropping view, and a cosy and quiet space. Vanessa and Noel were extremely friendly when we first arrived and then let us have our privacy the rest of our stay. Incredibly generous people with heaps of information about the surrounding area. Amazing stay! We will be back!

  • Vanessa and Noel were great hosts. They were happy to give lots of info about the Prom and what to see nearby. The cottage itself is cosy and ideally located close to the entrance of Wilson’s Prom. Everything was really clean and it has all you’ll need for cooking. It’s close to Yanakie general store but for more options stop somewhere closer to Melbourne and stock up for a few days. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a base to explore the Prom for a few days. The view (on a clear day!!) from the cottage is also stunning and Chole the dog is a cutie! Thanks for a lovely few days 😊

We have found the perfect place to relax & unwind in seclusion in the rolling hills of the Strezlecki Ranges.
Explore the surround with walking tracks around the property. Look out for wallabies, wombats, echidnas or just take in the breathtaking views.
Childers is conveniently located to the town ship of Yarragon, Trafalgar, Thorpdale & Mirboo North all a pleasant drive away.

  • We stayed at this lovely Cottage as a stop off on a long road trip. We loved how peaceful it was. Google maps didn't take us to the right address initially, if you drive further down the road you will find it! We enjoyed the BBQ on the deck and the amazing views, especially at sunset. When it came time for showers there wasn't hot water, we had to get in contact with Sharon, she gave us instructions to switch over gas tanks. Sharon provided lots of things for us to have a continental breakfast, and even put a fresh butter in the fridge.

    Michelle2020-01-02T00:00:00Z

My family home is amidst the beautiful countryside of Foster. It's a short drive to beaches and only 30km from the entrance to Wilson's Promontory National Park. We provide comfort in an accredited sustainable home with contemporary architecture on land used to grow seasonal produce. Choose from two spacious queen rooms, with bathroom and laundry on the lower floor of the house (privately accessible.) My welcoming parents, Kathy and Greg, will have all the local info you need for a great stay.
House is only 5 years old and the downstairs self contained apartment style area has 2 queen bedrooms. The space is bright, clean and spacious with views over garden to treed creek area. Private bathroom with separate bath and shower. Spacious laundry and kitchenette. Large living room with couches, coffee table and library.
Our property is only 10 kms from Foster and about 15 mins to Wilsons Prom National Park. There are great views across Corner inlet and behind us is the Hoddle range and Mount Nicoll. The hectare property is a work in progress as a food forest.
  • If you’re looking for a quite getaway then this property is perfect. About an hours drive away from the Wilsons Prom national park. Not too far from the local market too. A value for your money and a very big thank you to the amazing hosts! :)

  • I didn't get a chance to meet Greg but Cathy was there to help us with check in. She gave some useful information and suggestions. The Location is ideal to plan your visit to Wilson Prom. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend it.

  • Clare's place was a tranquil stay for us. Greg was also an informative and great host. Would definitely stay there again!

    Jason2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely property with ideal access into Wilson’s prom. The place is kept in perfect condition and comes with some essential items to kick start the day. There is also lots of info on the park which was great to use as a reference. Foster is also only a short drive away, with some nice restaurants on offer.

    Matt2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Greg and his wife were very warm and friendly hosts! Everything about Clare's place is exactly as listed, with some much appreciated extras like maps of the local area especially Wilsons Prom, breakfasts, and toiletries. The place was huge and would have been super spacious even for a party of 4-6 (there were only 2 of us). Shops and sights are in very short driving distance, and the house is situated on a property with lovely flora & fauna (loved waking up to the sound of crickets & birds!). Even in rainy weather, the area is beautiful and the dryer saved us from having to trek in wet clothes the next day. What really did catch my fancy was their library of books, which held a very vast spread of all topics and would be especially appreciated by those interested in psychology, social services, etc.! Would definitely pick Clare's place again when we return to Wilsons Prom!

Martyn Lane Country Cottage Location - We're 1.5 kilometres down a quiet road off Bass Highway surrounded by peppermint bush and farmland. Great central location only 10 minutes drive to the beaches, cafes and shops of Inverloch and 5 minutes to Wonthaggi, South Gippsland's main shopping centre. We think we have the best of both worlds here in Martyn Lane - all the pleasures of country life with quick and convenient access to the beaches and towns of South Gippsland.
Wilson's Promontory National Park and Phillip Island are both easy day trips away and scattered throughout South Gippsland's hills are wineries, small villages, cafes, farmers markets, rail trails and walking tracks, surf beaches and craft outlets. The mud brick and color bond cottage has recycled timber benches and tables. You may catch a glimpse of wallabies bounding through the trees and enjoy the bird bath antics of the locals from the kitchen window. The private graveled area outside the cottage has a brazier for simple bbqs or toasting marshmallows under the stars. Or you can use the Weber BBQ. Self contained with its own entrance and guest parking you can come and go as you please. Our house is located opposite so we're handy if you need some assistance, but we will always respect your privacy. The interior is set up as a large studio apartment with a combined dining and sleeping area. There is a separate sitting room with a comfortable couch and a wood fired heater to keep you cosy on chilly nights. The ensuite sized bathroom has a small separate room for storing clothes and your travel bags. The kitchen is fully equipped. Free wifi

We were particularly grateful with how Fiona dealt with a booking mix up. Would definitely stay again. Would be very cozy in winter!

  • STAY HERE!! We cannot recommend this place highly enough. Marge's Cottage is an absolutely incredible place. Having been frequent users of AirBnB, this was by far one of my partner and my favourite stays. Marge's is beautifully (and luxuriously) fitted out for a gorgeous weekend of relaxation and rest. We lit a cozy fire, had a beautiful hot bath looking out the gigantic window at a full moon, slept soundly in beautiful linen sheets with the sound of their gorgeous sheep (and their bells) running around in the background - and even ate a delicious (home-made) cake that Cheryl had prepared as a surprise for my birthday. The cottage is easy to find, super simple to self-check-in (which makes for a relaxing drive down) and equiped with everything you might need and more for your stay. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful eggs and bacon provided to cook brekky the next morning. Such a generous offering and experience. We can't wait to stay again. Thank you so much again for a wonderful stay Cheryl. 100/10, so good.

    Brigitt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing little hidden gem Marges Cottage is. All the small details, fresh cut flowers and greenery, the old dinning table, the day bed, and that bathroom! Just so beautiful! The sour dough bread, with butter; fresh eggs; hot chocolate; just added so much thought and comfort to our stay. We just loved it.

    Lindy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolutely magical place to stay. We were devastated we booked for only one night. Cheryl's thoughtfulness throughout the cottage is without a doubt the best Ive ever experienced. The cottage location and serenity has left me aching to come back and stay for longer. We had a wonderful couple of days in the tiny town Loch. Thank you Cheryl for your kind hospitality and for sharing such a beautiful space with us. Cant wait to come back x

    Kristy2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl was a fantastic host. Very thoughtful, responsive and welcoming. The place is amazing. Beautiful location and very well presented. You won’t be disappointed staying at Marge’s.

    Adam2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Regular Airbnb users will be familiar with the experience of turning up somewhere only to discover that the place isn’t quite as polished as it looks in the pictures. Well Cheryl’s place is the complete opposite of that. Pictures can not fully do it justice as they can’t capture all the attention to detail that has gone into making this place such a lovely stay. Beautiful linen on the beds, plush towels, slippers to keep your feet warm, locally sourced breakfast supplies to name a few. A wonderful place to enjoy some solitude and calm. We are seriously hoping to return and stay for longer.

    Tola2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding place. Absolutely beautiful part of the world. Helpful, thoughtful hosts. 10/10 in every way.

    Ben2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place is as beautiful as the pictures shown, with even more thoughtful touches inside which you’ll understand once you get there. The entire house is wonderfully designed and the bathroom is an absolute luxury. Would highly recommend for anyone who loves being away from the hustle and bustle to be amongst the quiet, tranquility of nature!

    Michelle2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding! Marge's Cottage is like coming home - so warming, peaceful and grounding. The space is beautiful, stylish and cosy. Cheryl is so thoughtful and generous with the amenities and goodies she provides. Beautiful brekky options as well. Will be returning!!

  • Very very good Airbnb. Great space to be in, really good aesthetic, comfortable, quiet and private. The beds and linen are amazing. Foster is a great little town and Grant’s place is close to everything. We were riding gravel bikes and the locale is perfect for that. Surrounding towns/villages lovely as well. We want to come back.

    Eva2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation was very comfortable with nice touches eg. (fresh flowers, chocolate bar). Very pretty house with covered in front patio for relaxing or a cuppa. Lots of birds everywhere and an occasional rabbit! My dog was very interested! Also a good stay for our dog as we were able to lock her in an enclosed side patio while we explored Wilson's Promontory for a few hours. No dogs allowed in National parks. All in all a very enjoyable three day break.

    Maureen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly like the photo. A cozy home with lovely amenities and touches. A short drive from Wilson's prom and other landmarks. Love the fact that there were two bicycles for us to use to get around town. Would definitely come back.

  • Vincenza is a really sweet host. I booked it on the day & was driving from north eastern Melbourne, got stuck in traffic & had to reach there late evening. She made sure the house was clean as speck and I had no problem checking in even around 8pm. Nestled in a corner, the accommodation looked great and comfy to accommodate three people. Woke up to a brilliant view of mountains & greenery. An hour’s drive to the Prom from the place but great lookouts on the way so worth every penny staying here. She made sure I had a pleasant check out with nothing to worry about. There’s also a cafe next to the accommodation. Wanted to try the oysters that were on special but couldn’t spend a lot of time in the house. Making sure I stay here next time I visit Wilsons Prom. Worth the $$&

  • Vincenza was a wonderful host especially during Christmas when my boyfriend and I stayed. She made sure we’d have an oven to cook our holiday feast in and even offered us leftovers in between the events she had going on at the café. The view from the apartment was also gorgeous and green! A nice surprise in a crazy drought. I highly recommend !

  • Vincenza's place is very comfortable, cosy and clean. The views of green rolling hills were so nice to look out on. And I slept very soundly. Would definitely recommend!

  • I enjoyed the lovely apartment . There is 2 lovely bedrooms which are extremely well appointed. One with amazing views . Their is a small kitchen with everything you need and a bathroom with everything you could need . The quality of linens and towels is excellent There is no lounge but there is a sofa and table and chairs in main bedroom . I had a lovey meal and a lovely breakfast. Restaurantis superb. I also had 3 goes in the oxgen tank for my aches and pains which was a new and unexpected treatment ( at a cost ) but totally recommended The value for money is in the accommodation which was superb. There rooms are next to the restaurant so a little noise but not much and The hosts go out of the way to keep to a minimum and are totally up front with everything So welcoming and kind and Knowledgeable Thank you so much Xx

  • This house is perfect for families with dogs. Not so fancy that you have to be worried about your pups spending time there, but still cosy and comfortable with a lovely fireplace and bushy surrounds. We had a lovely stay.

    Pip2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place is fantastic! The wood fire made for a warm and cosy winter night.

  • Four friends and myself stayed at Paul’s holiday house in Venus Bay and we loved every moment of it. The fireplace was amazing in winter and the house was a great home base for our weekend. The kitchen is equipped with enough bits and pieces for cooking your own meals etc and shower/bathroom was lovely and clean. Keen to stay at Paul’s again.

All facilities, including quality cotton sheets, towels, full kitchen, log fire, air con, dishwasher, all detergents, spice rack, coffee pods, cooking oils, small bowl of chocolates. Flat land, no steps, wheelchair friendly, & twin showers. Bush garden, native birds and occasional koala.
Specially designed one-bedroom house on a full block of land, with native bush garden. Flat land has no steps and easy parking on large paved area. The house has wide doors, with twin showers with no steps. Polished timber floors, and log fire. Native birds and occasional koala in surrounding trees.
Sandy Point is a small coastal village with about 220 permanent residents, although there are many beach houses in the area. The beach at Sandy Point is fantastic. The extraordinarily wide beach has fine golden sand, no rocks, and (usually) a gentle surf. Nearby Shallow Inlet provides fishing, wind-surfing, and other water sports. Vehicles can drive onto the beach at Shallow Inlet to launch boats or view Wilsons Prom.
  • Neil’s place is very clean and has everything you need for a weekend away. Kitchen is well stocked with oil, utensils and even seasonings. Mary has some lovely home made jams available for purchase. They were very hospitable even offering us fresh produce from their garden.

  • A wonderful place to stay, all very modern and well kept. Neil was a fantastic host, willing to help out in anyway possible. A lovely place close to the beach for a walk

  • very warm welcome, in a cozy and very well equipped cottage, in the garden of which there is often a koala and parakeets <3 we had this incredible chance to meet them! in the company of Neil who told us lots of nice things. In a mini village (be careful not to drink water) where you can meet echidnas by going to the beautiful and large beach! This cottage is also a 30-minute drive from the 1st strolls in the Wilson Promotional Park, where there are kangaroos and emus. In short, a paradise on earth.

    Magali2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Neil is a wonderful host and answers any questions you might have about the area. He was able to suggest some good places we could go on a night walk or a snorkel. The accommodation is very clean, well maintained and comfortable. There is a wood fire and also an air conditioner in the living area. The unit has a large fridge (with freezer), dishwasher and a washing machine too. Neil's place is surrounded by wildlife. We saw two koalas in his backyard on our first night!

  • Thanks Neil and Mary for being such a thoughtful hosts. Great little cottage with everything we could need and we'd be more than happy to stay again. We loved the little surprise in the fridge of the beans and tomatoes from the cottage garden which went perfectly with dinner.

    Owen2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Neil and Mary were exemplary hosts. The place isn't done justice by the photos, it has everything you need. The extra touches were delightful, fresh herbs outside, tomatoes and beans from the garden in the fridge. The place is brilliantly situated for local walks and Sandy Point beach which was great for us as we were learning to surf.

My place is close to the Centre of the Gippsland region, family-friendly activities, the beach, wineries, art studios, cafes and local markets. There is also the award winning Prom Country Cheese Factory only 7 minutes drive from our cottage. You’ll love my place because of the cosiness, scenic farm/country surroundings. We are an easy drive from the city. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers.
  • We had a great stay at Julie and Pete's place. They are wonderful hosts and offered plenty of helpful and interesting information about the local area. The cottage was a real home away from home with a very comfortable bed. There was so much to see and do in the surrounding towns and not far from the coast. It's a great place for a peaceful getaway.

    Murray2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is the perfect place. Julie and Peter were so friendly and gave us lots of tips on things to do in the area. The bed is super comfortable! We will be back 🙂

  • We stayed at Julie’s place on our way to hiking at the Prom. We loved the peace and quiet and all the unique touches. We were very comfortable and found it ideal as an overnight stopping point.

  • Julie and Peter were so lovely and welcoming. The place was very clean, comfortable and was exactly what we were after! They were very thoughtful and Julie even offered to drive us to the engagement party that we were attending. Would definitely recommend! Thanks so much! Hannah and Chris :)

  • Julie and Peter’s place is such a gem. The location is great, just a short drive to town, but in a private and serene spot. The accomodation has everything you need, with lovely little touches from coffee, cereal and milk in the fridge, to local recommendations which helped us maximise our one night stay. The cottage backs onto a field that gives an unobstructed view of the sunset, where we finished a day of hiking with some wine - could not get any better, highly recommend. Will be back again for a longer stay next time!

  • If you want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in the serenity of luscious green rolling hills, birds and a beautiful garden, look no further
