  • Such a lovely host and cottage. The kitchen was big, the shower hot and the bed comfortable. We only stayed for one night and it was so cozy that we would love to come back in summer to enjoy the outside seating!

  • Very nice place beside lake. Cozy and cleaned.

  • We can’t say enough good things about the value and beauty of this place! You have complete privacy, and the farm was breathtaking in the fall!

  • My second time here and always, the cleanliness and privacy with location...were outstanding!

  • The house is located by the forest creek, there is a barbecue grill, the river can be fishing, the environment is beautiful, the countryside is beautiful, very good place.

  • This is the most lovely little spot. The cottage is nestled alongside a bend in a creek, so that water and greenery are all around you. It is very well appointed with a complete kitchen, so snuggling in is easy. At the same time, a quick walk to town. Elsie was lightning fast in her responses and everything in the cottage and the property was immaculate.

    Sarah2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location! Very clean and quiet! We came to hike and we had 2 wonderful days with some great hikes at Charleston Provincial Park and Foley Mountain! Highly recommend! The cottage was wonderful and Elsie was amazing! She met us upon arrival and we loved her dog too! We used the bbq and fire pit! We also played board games in the sun room during some rain and it was so perfect! We can’t wait to return! Our dog and 9 month old had a great visit also! Perfect for families!

The "Love Nest" is a cozy, rustic bohemian style apartment that used to be a workshop and is now a 3 story getaway. It has been carefully restored and decorated to create a feeling of peace and wellbeing.
Chaffey's Lock is a quaint small village. You will be just steps away from many beautiful sights including the Mill Art Gallery, the Opinicon Restaurant & Ice Cream Shop, Chaffey's lock-station where you will view many kinds of boats "locking through" the hand operated locks, the LockMaster's House Museum and the Cataraqui Trail - part of the TransCanada trail system.
  • Fell in love with this place! Such hospitable hosts who will do anything to make sure you're comfortable and having fun. The place is exactly like the photos, if not better. Coming back as soon as we can

    Daniela2020-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Love Nest is the sweetest, most rustic, cozy spot imaginable. We came in on a chilly November night to the wood stove going & warm glow from the lamps around, couldn’t have been a better welcoming. Henry & Veronika were also the sweetest; though we didn’t get to meet, they left us hot coffee for our first morning and were super responsive in checking in on us. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your meals, and Chaffeys Lock is literally a 2 minute walk down the street. We stopped in at the Opinicon for a Baileys hot chocolate after a chilly wander around, which was also a nice experience. The loft bed is sweet, the aesthetics are on point, can’t recommend the Love Nest more for a cozy stay.

    Louisa2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so wonderful to stay in! Henry and Veronika are wonderful and welcoming hosts. We arrived to the fire burning in their adorable little Love Nest which was such a cute and cozy space, decorated with lovely touches. Their place is within walking distance from the locks and a few other places, including some beautiful walking trails and the Opinicon (a great place to walk over for dinner and drinks - incredibly friendly staff and delicious food.) Henry and Veronika were even kind enough to invite us to a birthday party they were hosting for their neighbour, and it was a pleasure to meet the local people - everyone was so kind and lovely! I would highly recommend staying here and I would love to return some day!

    Melissa2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Although we didn’t get to interact much with Henry And Veronika, they were beyond helpful with attending to our needs. We had lots of privacy and it was exactly what we were hoping for!

    Tiffany2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little spot just a minute walk from the picturesque Chaffeys Lock and access to the Cataraqui trail. Veronika was available when we arrived to walk us through how to use the wood stove and generally how to heat the cabin. Walk over to the Opinicon resort for a great dinner and live music on Friday nights (we’d recommend the pub over the dining room for a more lively atmosphere). Also leave time to check out the resort grounds. Driving about 30-40 minutes will take you nearby towns like Perth (totally worth checking out). We cooked a few meals as well and the kitchen has more than enough tools and equipment (no oven but there is a bbq outside) just make sure you bring oil and condiments (pb, Jan, etc.). Incredibly peaceful surroundings with nothing but crickets and birds to wake you in the morning. Great stay and we can’t wait to come back!

    Lily2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Henry & Veronika for the amazing hospitality! We would love to return again in future!

Come and enjoy sunsets, stargazing, wildlife and our beautiful lake! Private, picturesque getaway on a beautiful waterfront lake, 20 min SW of Perth, 50 min. to Kingston, 1 hr to Ottawa, Westport is 25 min away. Our cozy guest cabin offers you a private place to relax, rejuvenate, and explore. We are located in a natural peaceful setting in cottage country, so you must be comfortable with wildlife.
The studio space has a compact kitchenette with a sink-hot/cold well water, fridge/freezer, coffee maker-Keurig, kettle, toaster oven, induction hot plate, toaster, electric frying pan, glasses, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, bbq, salt/pepper, oil/vinegar, dish soap, coffee/tea, foil, saran, paper towels. Bring your clothes and food. Be ready to relax and have fun by the lake! Furnished: queen bed, sofa, tables, small tv with several DVD's for rainy days, no tv stations. We have high speed wifi for those who need to work. The bathhouse is located beside the cabin and contains a shower with hot/cold well water, a toilet, sink, heater. (review pictures) Our cottage is located adjacent the cabin and we are usually here. There are many trees and shrubs for privacy. Your space is private from ours. You may see us in the parking area or on the lake.
We're located on the waterfront. The lake is a perfect spot for boating, fishing and swimming or just relaxing on the deck watching sunsets and wildlife. It has a natural wooded area with cottages at a good distance which ensures privacy, but we do have neighbours. The lake is clean and great for swimming, fishing and water sports. The lake bottom is sandy and rocky along the shore. We're in a great location and close to many quaint historic towns. Historic Perth is home to museums, restaurants, boutiques, theatre, breweries, distilleries, coffee shops and the famous Stewart Park Music Festival. There are many waterways, provincial parks, hiking trails and mica mines nearby and many festivals throughout the area. There is a great Drive-in theatre in Port Elmsley 30 minutes away. There is several golf courses within 30 km and we've gone strawberry picking in Lanark which is also close by.
  • Cozy cabin - we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing time by the fire, taking in the fall colours, kayaking, canoeing and even a quick dip in the lake! Great DVD selection for rainy/lazy days... just the relaxing retreat we were hoping for!

    Amy2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wow... That is all that you're going to say after staying here. The place is beautiful but not overpopulated, simple but not basic, and very well thought out. Everything is built for an amazing kind of "couple retreat", which that have nailed perfectly. Our only regret about this whole stay is not booking for another few nights! It was not the greatest weather while we were here and we still had a fantastic time! The pictures do not do it justice, and we didn't even know that we had access to a private small beach. Would highly reccomend.

    Vincent2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My fiance and I really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The photos do not do the cabin and outdoor space enough justice. The cabin has everything you need and is very clean. The outdoor space is absolutely beautiful, with multiple areas to sit and view the lake. We can't express how peaceful and relaxing our stay was. Lana and Mike are very friendly and welcoming. The nearby town of Perth is also very beautiful, especially in the fall.

    Jessica2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location. Friendly and responsive hosts. Private cottage with so much to do and see right there. The cabin is located high up at the top of the embankment, so has an excellent view of the lake. Private stairs and dock, with plenty of spots to sit or rest in the hammock. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Everything smells clean and fresh. The bath house is super close to the cabin and easy to get to even in the dark. The loudest noise is by the crickets. As other people have said - this place is even nicer than the photos suggest. We stayed here for 5 days and would have loved to stay so much longer.

    Lisa2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at this wonderful, bright , modern, well equipped comfortable cabin tucked away under a canopy of pine trees with Mother Nature on our doorstep. Access to boats to leisurely explore the beautiful lake was a joy. An added deck area and new shower house were both thoughtfully planned for guest's comfort and pleasure. Multi sitting areas plus hammock guarantee a relaxing spot to read. The quiet evenings and the call of the loons make this a perfect escape from the city.

    Linda2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic! Absolutely heavenly! This is a perfect getaway! Absolutely beautiful location, beautiful cabin, wonderful hospitality. The photos Lana has posted can’t even do this area justice. It’s just incredible! We spent our days on the lake in the kayaks and canoe provided and nights having dinner at the many wonderful restaurants in Perth, just 20 minutes from the cabin. If you’re looking for a getaway you have to stay here!!

    Carla2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wanderer’s dream spot.

    Trevor2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a tranquil lakeside getaway in a natural setting, this place is wonderful! The many water sport options, multiple seating areas, stunning sunsets, and lovely nearby town of Perth make for an excellent escape near enough to the city. Would definitely stay here again!

Hi! Please read the entire description before emailing questions. Thank you :-) Close to Beverly Lake Park, Kingston, Brockville, Gananoque, Ottawa. Great fishing, private, great place to get away and re-charge. It's great for couples, families, and furry friends (pets). We've been renting since 1976, generations of families have fished with us, and still do. The majority are from the Allentown PA area, but we welcome all! While the space is modern, it's still a rustic cabin.
It's a semi private location, with amazing fishing. 100 Catches a day is an easy goal to hit if your dedicated. It's also a great central spot to tour around, Kingston, the 1000 Islands and Ottawa are close. It's a modern cabin, with a large open concept living dining area, a 55" TV and 25MBPS internet. That said, it's a rustic cottage, there is the occasional ant/spider and sometimes things break, when they do we respond promptly. While most guests are extremely happy with the experience here, I have had the odd guest that was dissapointed. Ultimately I believe they were looking for a boutique hotel experience, so if that's what your looking for, this is not for you. If your seeking some solitude, a comfortable break away, this place is hard to beat.
The cottage is walking distance to the Hamlet of Delta, while it's a little tired, it has some things to offer. It has a township park with play structures and two excellent public beaches. There is a small grocery store with a good bakery - try the chocolate tarts! A decent LCBO, and a chip truck. There is no restaurant. That said, in Elgin, The Ridea Pizzeria does excellent Pizza & Poutine, and a decent breakfast. Further afield, Kingston has amazing Resto's - Woodenheads, Chez Piggy and Fort Henry is fun with Kids. The boat cruise in Gananoque is good fun, remember your passport to be able to see Boldt Castle. There are some decent Resto's around, Riva, The Gananoque Inn. Brockville has the best Fish in Chips this side of the pond @ Don's Fish and Chips down by blockhouse Island. A nice road trip is to drive to Brockville for some fish, then drive the parkway to Rockport for a cold pint at Cornwalls Pub. Then on to Gananoque and for a boat cruise and perhaps some dinner. The ladies in our family like the shopping and cafe's in the town of Westport. But, in my humble opinion the finest thing you can do is spend a lazy afternoon in the hammock with a good book and some ice cold beers.
  • This is an amazing place to stay. Great views and the house has all the amenities you need. Lots of wildlife and quiet private place.

    Pete2020-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great and comfortable stay at Troy's and Elena's cottage. It had all what we needed for a relaxing Family day weekend. The cottage is spacious, super quiet and the views all around are amazing. Troy and Elena were prompt with responding to any questions, thanks!

  • This cottage was the perfect place for some quiet solitude. I had all of my questions answered faster than I could possibly have expected. I'm looking forward to coming back again!

  • Nice quiet spot with gorgeous views. Windows all around in living room makes for lovely views - be sure to catch a sunrise! Town is super close for any needs.

  • A lovely cottage on a beautiful lake in a lovely area. What a wonderful place for a stay in autumn.

    David2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great get away in the woods, lake on three sides of the cottage. Boat and kayak on site for use. Place is super quiet except for birds the critters in the forest. The cottage is very cozy with all working amenities super fast WiFi and large tv. The kitchen is well equipped and there is also a propane grill for bbq. Small fireplace in the living room and a bonfire in the yard for those night hangouts. Troy gives you your utmost privacy but is still within communication.m reach should yo need him. Will definitely be back to “our cabin in the woods”

Rustic cabin on the banks of the Tay river 5 mins from Perth. Very private, solar powered, gas cooking, outhouse, fishing, canoe/ kayaking, swimming, train tracks about 3/4 of mile away, so you might hear that lonesome whistle blow.Fire wood and propane are provided
Situated about 20 feet from the bank of the Tay River, shaded by a large oak and ash tree, on thirty acres of river front property...there are no neighbors although I am close if you need anything..very private and picturesque. Great swimming and canoeing /kayaking/ bird watching ..lounging..sitting by the fire..what can I say... it's a piece of paradise . There is one double bed, a sleeping platform for one with a foam mattress ..and room for another mattress on the floor..there is also lots of room to set up tents for extra people. Two night min stay. The bed is a firm thick foam mattress this is because the mice don't get into it during the winter.this is a rustic cabin not the holiday inn..and depending on the time of day yes you can hear the road ..but you are still very secluded from it....fire wood and propane for the BBQ and indoor oven are provide..fire wood is meant forsmall evening/night fires only..if more is required for daytime cooking or longer fires etc. it can be provided at an extra cost ,the canoe and kayaks are there for your use as are the hamocks, ice for the fridge/ice box and drinking /cooking water are also provided..
Well i think i have said it all...I love the river and all it has to offer.. and I think you will too. Cheers
  • This was the perfect getaway from the city. The fall colors were absolutely beautiful and the cabin on the river was so serene.

    Lindsey2019-10-14T00:00:00Z

  • Excellent space. Rustic little cabin close enough to town to get what you need but in a secluded location. Don is an awesome guy; welcoming, warm and he has a great sense of humour!! We felt very comfortable and loved going out on the river and having campfires. Gonna go back next year! If You are looking for a little getaway from the hustle and bustle dons cabin is the best choice :)

This magical little solar cabin is the perfect getaway to soothe your soul. It truly is special right down to every last detail. Thank you Don for giving my new fiancé and I the space to make life long memories!! We will be back!

    Jennifer2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Don’s place was an airbnb experience like none before. It really taught my family and I about how little we really need in life, and to reconnect with nature. We really enjoyed the wildlife, canoeing the river and eating by the camp fire. There was absolutely nothing else we needed except each others company and it was great. Thanks Don!

I am a laid back 45 year old man. The house is 420 friendly. I have a roommate named Mike, two dogs and two cats. House is always kept clean. They are all extremely friendly. For people traveling there is the Table Community Food Center right across the road. The Table hosts all kinds of great events including a free community meal every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 430pm to 6pm. The meal is always well prepared with fresh ingredients. • My family had a wonderful time and Angela's beautiful cottage. The location, cottage and all of its amenities were perfect for our getaway. We were extremely impressed with the beauty of the property and all of the cottages amenities and little touches. Our daughters had a great time in the paddle boat, kayak and sunning on the docks. My husband caught a couple of beautiful pike right off the dock and I pulled in a 4+ pound bass a little further down the shoreline. Black Lake is a big, clean and lovely lake to play in and around. We had a wonderful time at Angela's cottage and hope to be back again soon!

  • The lockmasters house made for a wonderful weekend getaway dani and Paul recommend Foley mountain to us and it was a stunning view and had a couple nice bouldering locations that I climbed while we were there

    Christian2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in Newboro. The lock master’s house was a perfect place to self isolate and to work on some writing. The woodstove was easy to use and burn for a long time. Our only suggestion would be if you are staying for more than a night you should bring your own water. We found the water to be a little coppery. We especially loved the path nearby where we saw beavers building their lodges, and the many deer in the field across the road.

  • Great place. Very clean, cozy and relaxing Paul was there to welcome us with a nice fire going for us and so helpful with giving suggestions for activities and restaurants. If you’re in the area, don’t hestitate. Book!

  • Dani and Paul were so great at keeping in contact before our stay. We had to forfeit one of our nights due to bad weather unfortunately, but they were both super helpful and kind towards the decision. The cottage was very charming. Cozy little cabin that was very comfortable. It was located on the main highway which was great to access the town and such, but a bit busy with our pup. Overall great stay, and amazing hosts. Definitely recommend the space for a cozy little retreat away!

  • Great place! Even bigger than what it looks in the photos, complete privacy, had the option of going on the water via canoe but we picked a bad weekend for the weather unfortunately. Place was easy to get into with door code and everything inside was labeled for ease, Aaron responded promptly! Would come again!! Had a great time :))

  • Cutest most charming cottage on the water! Mother and daughter weekend was so nice and relaxing! Just what we needed! 5 stars!

    Stephanie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • So peaceful. It is hard to overstate how calm this lake is. There is literally nothing across the lake. The stars sparkled and the place itself was so thoughtfully equipped. There was nothing missing and Aaron communicated everything clearly and accurately and even checked in on us within 24 hours. Highly recommended as a calm complete getaway!

For any information on these or other events we would be happy to provide as much information as we can find.If we don't know we will find someone who does:)
  • Beautiful property, lovely cabin, and wonderful hosts. Great place to unwind and relax. Enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, and reading by the fire. Would love to experience Le Temps Perdu in all the seasons.

  • Hermann and Tracey are excellent hosts, and their cabin is fantastic! It was immaculate, warm, and perfectly cozy during our winter stay. The grounds are beautiful, as well! I would highly recommend staying here.

  • Hermann and Tracey were excellent hosts. They gave us plenty of space while still being attentive, helpful and friendly. They’re little cabin was a peaceful, cozy retreat that was furnished with everything necessary to have a wonderful self contained escape from city life and little details that made you feel extra welcome. Snowshoeing along the paths that weave through their vast property was a novel treat and the sauna was relaxing and rejuvenating. I’m already looking forward to visiting this spot again.

    Eleanor2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hermann and Tracy's place is absolutely magical. If you need a quiet, restful escape from city life, you can stop searching because you've found it. My companion and I stayed here for two days and it surpassed all our expectations. Hermann and Tracy are incredible hosts and their cabin is filled with thoughtful touches that will make your quiet getaway absolutely perfect.

    Derek2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoy the walk in the forest, connect with the elder trees and keep your eyes open for the forest inhabitants!

    Henri2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Hermann & Tracey's accommodations were beyond our expectations. When we arrived she had a "Happy Birthday" banner and a welcome sign with our names waiting for us. This attention to detail did not end there. Throughout the trip we continuously noticed more and more things that were just so thought through; for example, the maps they had of the property to the cute slippers hanging on the wall (inside a giant slipper). The cabin itself was like a fairy tale, with a beautiful fireplace and a small bedroom nook. Hermann and Tracey were wonderful, Tracey showed us around when we first came and both would tell us the history of their home. This was by far the best Airbnb we have been to; especially because of how unique it was, and it allowed us to be removed from the city life for something more comforting.

    Nicholas2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic weekend. I was looking for a weekend away from the noise and hustle of the city and Tracey and Hermann provided that and more. The out of the way property is so quaint and inviting. The beautiful little blue cottage tucked into the trees is so picturesque. Inside. It is rustic and cozy. Everything that you need is there. There is a lovely wee sitting room and tucked in the back corner are stairs leading up to the loft bedeoom in the peak of the cottage with a lovely stained glass window. The grounds are gorgeous and it is a lovely walk through the forest to the horse paddock where Hermann and Tracey's gorgeous horses live. We walked the grounds, saw all the old trees with names painted on their signs. I have been to Le Temps Perdu before and I will certainly be returning. This is the place to go if you want to get back to basics, spend some time in the out of doors and have a rustic adventure. Absolute dream spot.

    P2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a romantic getaways, this cottage provides a great experience not so far away from Toronto. The property itself is so beautiful to explore. It's a perfect blend of wilderness and comfort. Tracey has touched up the place very creatively. Hermann's love for horses and environment is so naturally evident. The only flip side is that the washroom is a short walk from the cottage but once you enter, you would just fall in love with the view. That was a great spot for a bubble bath! I really enjoyed the fall colors in country side and now I am looking forward to explore this cottage in another season.

  • Alex's home is just like the photos, the check-in process was extremely easy. The property itself is stunning, and has lots of character. Alex left notes with instructions and two binders. One binder explains how to use the amenities (fireplaces, fans etc.), and explains the history of the property. The second binder includes must visit locations, food menus, etc. I would highly recommend this property. Thank you Alex for the wonderful hospitality!

Funky older cottage on private island. Spectacular water views all round, yet secluded from other people. 100 year old base with add-ons over the years, now renovated while maintaining original charm, Pet friendly, great Canadian cottage experience! WEEK-LONG BOOKINGS ONLY.
Bookings are (mostly) restricted to FULL-WEEK rentals, Saturday to Saturday. 5 DAY RENTAL MINIMUM. Overview The cottage is a wilderness paradise. It's a very special place to us! We own the whole island on which it is built (not large, perhaps one acre) but it's very peaceful. It sits across a bay looking out to the main lake and also has a huge shallow back bay behind it. Good fishing in the lake if you like that (I'm not a fisherman), canoeing, kayaking, sailing, boating. Wildlife includes herons, loons, ducks, geese, turkey vultures, turtles, mink, muskrat, beavers, bullfrogs, the occasional deer, garter snakes, dragonflies, monarch butterflies and lots of bird life. Canadian wilderness at its best. Location The cottage is located on Big Rideau Lake. It is located approximately 20 minutes southwest of Perth, Ontario, on a bay on the north side of the lake called Horseshoe Bay. It is a little bit southwest of Murphy’s Point Provincial Park. It takes about 90 minutes to get to the cottage from central Ottawa, including a 10 minute canoe ride. I’ll send you detailed directions as to how to get there if you decide to rent. Style of cottage The core of the cottage is almost 100 years old. Over the last ten years we have been renovating and expanding the cottage extensively, but it is not our intention at any stage to convert it to a modern house. Our approach is to do everything we can to minimize the impact of our activities on the landscape and to assist the ecology of the island and the area. In the interests of full disclosure, I have to admit that the cottage does sometimes have ‘wee beasties’ such as mice, spiders, daddy-long-legs and the occasional wood roach. They come and go in cycles, you may see them or you may not. If you want to get away and commune with nature you can’t always control how nature communes back with you. THIS IS A FUNKY OLDER COTTAGE. IF YOU THINK A COTTAGE MEANS PROTECTION FROM MOTHER NATURE, A DISHWASHER AND AIR CONDITIONING, THEN THIS IS NOT FOR YOU! One of the 'wee beasties' that MAY show up is wood roaches. They only showed briefly twice last year but one of the times resulted in a one-star rating from the guests and a temporary de-listing from Airbnb because they were described as cockroaches and that the place was thereore unclean. They are NOT the latter and he cottage is thoroughly cleaned for every visit but this is one of the 'risks' of comuning with nature that I describe elsewhere. I hesitatd in adding this paragraph because it is unlikely you will see any, but I do not want to get another one-star rating (which was totally unfair, especially since they liked everything else about the cottage) because of the WOOD roaches It is ideal for individuals and families who want peace and quiet and relaxed play. Although it can accommodate large groups, it is not designed to be a party palace and we do not rent to people whose only idea of fun involves loud music and intrusive water activities. Because it is an old structure, some of the facilities are relatively primitive. We have hot and cold running water, but there is a limit to the amount of hot water that can be generated at any one time. The environmental toilet works very well, but also requires a little bit of understanding and water conservation measures. Climate change and water supply This is a new paragraph promted by an unusually cold October. If you make a late fall booking, please note that it is possible that the water might be turned off to avoid freezing. Getting water from the lake and heating it on the wood stove is easy enough, but may be too 'primitive' for some people, and it would mean the shower is off. Normally this might only be an issue from November on, but with climate change it appears to be a possibility even in October, so please consider your fall bookings accordingly. With hotter summers likely, you should add 2°C to "average" seasonal norms. Global warming may also result in warmer springs and falls. Layout The cottage is about 1,200 square feet, centred on a large family room with a cathedral ceiling. The front porch looks down to the main lake while the kitchen overlooks the back bay. It has three bedrooms, one of which is a loft that also has a view over the whole back bay. It’s got a large kitchen where three cooks can work concurrently! It can easily sleep six and with other futon beds, the capacity gets up to nine before you even start talking tents or mattresses. And we have recently built a ‘bunkie’ that can accommodate another couple of people or perhaps all the kids. However this size of group has to be negotiated since we are concerned with the capacity of the island to handle a lot of people, For example, large groups early in the season are not possible since one small shower is really not sufficient and the lake isn't warm enough for bathing then. Facilities It has a Sunmar environmental toilet, easy to use, minimal smell and we do all the upkeep. Cell phone is somewhat limited (1-2 bars most phones), so may restrict internet junkies. No air-conditioning but good breezes off the lake. There’s a wood stove for heating if needed. Other facilities include a propane barbeque, a fire pit, two docks, good swimming from the dock though a bit weedy, small beach as well (see below), flower gardens, a vegetable garden, an installed labyrinth (Vanessa's specialty), two hammocks and a large library with lots of good reading material. There’s a wind up radio but no TV. The cottage has decks all around which means you can always find sun or shade in which to sit depending on your preference. We have two canoes, two kayaks, a small sailing boat and a rowing boat. The back bay is shallow but out front big boats have no problem for docking. Island living There are both advantages and disadvantages to living on an island. Advantages Ø No neighbours Ø Privacy and quiet Ø No need to tether pets Ø Lots of shoreline Ø Many different types of landscapes Disadvantages Ø Time of canoe ride (8 minutes) Ø Transportation of food and drink Ø Transportation of building materials, tools and repair items! Ø Isolation in case of accident Ø Travel to the island after dark Children There are lots of things for the children to do, but primarily non-electronic!. No music system ,no television. We don’t mind other people bringing these, just don’t expect them to be supplied. There are lots of games and puzzles, swimming masks and flippers, a badminton set, climbing, fort building, frog-spotting, crayfish baiting (use bacon!) and other old time honoured cottage pursuits. We have built a basic tree house (June 2014)! Swimming The level of the lake is regulated, and can change over the course of the season by up to 30 inches. Thus diving off the main dock is possible until August but after that may become less so if the level of the lake is considerably down. The water is clear and good, but off the main dock is weedy. We have a small beach a little further down the island and from this you can walk out with no weeds. The sand is fairly gritty (we provide water shoes) and the beach itself is only exposed at the end of the year when the water level is at its lowest. I would rate the quality of the swimming as good but not excellent. Fishing Big Rideau Lake is part of the Rideau Canal System that stretches between the Ottawa River at Canada's Capital, Ottawa, and Lake Ontario at Kingston, a total of 202 kms or 125 miles. Throughout the Rideau Canal System, you can expect to find excellent smallmouth bass and largemouth bass fishing, and in certain areas, walleye, pike and muskellunge fishing. The fishing is supposed to be good in the main lake, and we have had some guests catch fish from the island itself. Boating Small boats may be launched from the landing dock, otherwise there is a public launch about half a kilometre away from the cottage. If you bring your own motor boat you can travel long distance both up and down the lake. You can also make long voyages by our two kayaks or two canoes. Our son has been to the far side of the lake to Portland, but some caution is required as the weather on the main lake can occasionally get extremely rough (six foot waves with whitecaps). It is almost always relatively calm within the bay which can only occasionally lead to problems in getting the sailboat out! Marijuana The cottage is located 30 minutes from Smiths Falls which is the headquarters of Canopy Growth Corporation, better known as Tweed, the largest marijuana producer in Canada. For guests from outside of Canada who wish to buy Canada's newest legal recreational drug (!), it is likely that there will be a retail outlet in that town. Tours of their facility may also be available. They are growing like crazy (pun intended!), 800 jobs created so far. Since some information is lackingabout how and where retail sales will operate, I'll provide you with up-to-date information when you book. Rates We use the cottage ourselves usually in the early/late parts of the year. In July and August we prefer to rent it by the week, Saturday to Saturday. September is best if you can make it, no one else around, superb colours, great weather and the best rates for week stays. A great location for homeschooling in a different environment. We have rented it as early as April and as late as November, but please realize that if the weather gets cold enough to freeze the pipes then we may not be able to provide a running water system. Buckets from the lake and hot water from a large saucepan on the wood stove works really well, but it's not for everyone! We have lots of arts supplies as well as metal and wood potential sculpture material. You are urged to indulge your creativity! Library There is an extensive library in place, heavy on the science fiction (Azimov, Piers Anthony, but also with complete sets of Tom Clancy (John Ryan series), Georgette Heyer (the original, well written and well-researched regency romance author), Stieg Larson (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Arthur Ransome (kid's English author), Matt Helm series, Agatha Christie, Harry Potter and many others. Health The island is great for pets because you can just let them run free. But although we vacuum thoroughly, if you react to pet hair etc., we can't always make it sterile enough that your allergies won't be triggered. We ask that you bring the bedding you require. If we provide it, there is a further charge of $100 per week. Well trained pets are allowed, please clean up after them. No smoking inside the cottage. The cottage has a good selection of spices, condiments and other basics but we ask that you replace anything you finish or let us know what needs replenishing. There is a selection of other food there that can also be used for emergencies! WINTER STAYS Yes there is a wood stove and yes there is pre-chopped wood for it but depending when you want it, the place may not be your ideal winter retreat for two much more practical reasons 1) the cottage is not insulated and could get REALLY cold 2) because it is on an island you can’t get across to it in December/early January and again in March. At those times there is ice but not thick enough to walk on and yet still too thick to break through in a canoe. Fletch Contact information Owners: Michael Fletcher Perth, SW of Ottawa, Ontario
  • All super - nice hosts, great location - exceptional experience

    Michael2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderfully, peaceful place! A great, outdoorsy feel with loons calling, fish to catch, a beautiful blue heron and total peace and relaxation. The house is just as Michael describes. We took our pontoon boat and went to Portland and Westport. The dogs loved every minute on the boat and running free on the island. People we did meet around the area were so friendly and very helpful too.

    Siobhan2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying on the island. Everything is accurately described in the listing — if you understand that this is a very old cottage, and don’t have unrealistic expectations, you should have a good time. The bay was very quiet and peaceful, the views from the cottage were beautiful, and the swimming was good. Michael was very pleasant and easy to deal with.

    Shawn2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Michael’s place. The cottage is true to the AirBNB description - the negatives are that there are a small number of bugs and there is the composting toilet to deal with. If you are OK with those things, you will really love this place. We found that the photos in the ad don’t capture how nice the place is - the living area is beautiful - full of light and stocked with absolutely everything needed for a relaxing cottage vacation. There are many small touches that make your stay very comfortable. The view onto the quiet bay of the lake is a million dollar view, and if ever you get tired of that, there is the view on the other side of the island onto a marsh full of lily pads. We really appreciated the cottage location - it is on a quiet bay, so the water tends to be calm and there are very few motor boats, and the neighbours are relatively far away. We spent a lot of time swimming, canoeing and kayaking and the conditions were great. Even though it is on the island, it wasn’t difficult to canoe or take the rowboat to pick up visitors or take a day trip. Michael was very good with communication before the rental - he sent us very clear instructions on how to get to the cottage, and met us (in the rowboat!) to bring us to the island. He was flexible to alter the meet up time on the day to avoid a rainshower. There are certainly enough outdoor chairs on the island for you, but we brought a few extra folding chairs with us and appreciated having them - that allowed us to not move chairs around so much. We were very happy with our week on the island.

    Steve2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic, charming, peaceful - a true Canadian cottage experience. The views of the the lake won't disappoint. I highly recommend a stay on Potato Island to folks who don't mind insects, snakes, a bit of dust, a compost toilet. We hope to visit again one day.

    Kimberley2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start? Micheal was friendly and generous and gave us a tour of the cabin, island and waterway on our way to the cabin. We had 3 generations of family enjoy this place with kids as young as 5 and grandparents in their 70's. There was a fire pit for night roasts, and a stove, microwave and coffee maker for the morning. There were Hammocks for reading, water toys, 2 kayaks, canoes, and a row boats. We had a great weekend and I am already looking at weeks in the summer to book again.

    Tara2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little cottage on an island that's great for relaxation and making fond memories. Mike provides a lot of activities for you to do so you'll never find yourself bored, even if you are stuck indoors on a rainy day. He goes out of his way too to help you transport your things to his island which I very much appreciated. Thank you so much Mike!

This is a fully equipped Wall Tent. Its camping but with Queen size bed, front porch with cafe table & chairs. BBQ is provided. For heat a Woodstove for those cooler days. Great place to back country snow shoe & cross country ski. In summer a common outdoor shower which provides hot running water a few steps away from the campsite. The Miners Wall Tent is located in a secluded area on one of the best locations on our waterfront farm property. There are boats and canoes to rent.
Unlike many other campsites or cottages this Wall tent space and waterfront is totally private! Its like you set up camp in the middle of the 19th century, but with a few luxury's and comforts. But please remember to bring a Cooler and Ice!
The nearby hamlet of Chaffeys Locks is a nice place to visit only 6 kms away. There is a Marina where minor grocery items can be purchased, such as ICE!. Its called Browns Marina. A very nice restaurant to visit is Opinicon Resort Hotel.
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful spot. Would highly recommend it! We will be back!

    Theresa2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We came to The Miner's Glen looking for a special way to celebrate NYE 2019 and were not disappointed! My wife and I were familiar with the area already but staying in a wall tent was a new experience entirely for us and something we have long wanted to do. We knew it would be chilly, but came prepared with our own 0C sleeping bags which we used under the many blankets and sheets Trent and Angela provided. That coupled with the firewood (given to us by Trent and Angela), we were roasty toasty to say the least! The portable Li-Ion battery generator was a nice touch and gave us some light to read from at night. Lots of nature all around. Very peaceful and good for the soul. Make sure you check out The Opinicon resort just up the road, too! Would gladly stay again!

  • I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful tent and location during my birthday weekend. The photos do not do it justice, as the surroundings a picturesque, the ten is well situated and equipped and has everything you could need. Additionally, Trent & Laura are kind and warm people who offer help and assistance when and if you need it. I arrived much later than anticipated but Laura was kind enough to lead me to the location, and Trent already had a fire going for me, so the hosts are wonderful as well. If you need to escape to breathe and enjoy nature and unplug, this is the perfect place to do so - a slice of heaven on earth for anyone wanting to get away from it all! Thank you again for your hospitality and hosting me! :)

    Azra2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome glamping experience. Trent's property is worth 10 stars. It's located at the lakeside and offered a stunning view. We were allowed to use everything and felt very welcomed. The shower and the toilet are a few meters away. We would advice a headlamp for the night. The shower offered warm fresh water with a view. A must do is a lilltle trip with Trents Canoe. We were aware that there are no stores or restaurants around, so we already equipped ourself with groceries for the BBQ. We really recommend Trent's tent. :)

Perth is a beautiful little town with many different festivals throughout the year. My house is located on the main street so everything in Perth is walking distance from my house. I am a laid back 45 year old man. The house is 420 friendly. I have a roommate named Mike, two dogs and two cats. They are all extremely friendly and well trained. House is always kept clean. For people traveling there is the Table Community Food Center right across the road. The Table hosts all kinds of great events including a free community meal every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 430pm to 6pm. The meal is always well prepared with fresh ingredients. The best part is there is no dishes to do and it is absolutely free. I have two listings on AirBnB. The other room is a larger size with a double bed. It is listed under Joe's Place.

Cordwood cabin with a natural living roof overlooking a glade in the forest. Private, cozy, and wonderfully quiet. It's a fairy tale place for adults! With its table for two, hexagonal window looking out onto the pines, tiny woodstove that belts out the heat, and whimsical window seat that becomes a bed at night, this cabin has everything you need to be warm and comfortable.
The Hobbit House is exquisitely primitive. There is no electricity but there are plenty of candles, oil lamps, and lanterns for light. There is no running water but there is a chamber pot and nearby thunder box outside to do your business, and we provide a jug of fresh potable water for drinking. It’s a bit like elegant indoor camping. This spacious cabin has a futon that turns into a double bed, a table that can be used for eating or playing cards, and a wood stove with plenty of firewood that heats the space even on the coldest of nights. There is minimal but adequate cooking equipment—butane burner, pots, pans, plates, bowls, mugs, cutlery, cooking utensils, can opener, bottle opener, kettle, and even a french press for your morning cup of coffee! Pack as if you were camping, except you can leave your dishes and linens at home! There are no roads to the cabin so you should be prepared to hike with your belongings from the parking lot over some rough terrain, approximately 20 minutes. We provide fresh sheets, a warm bamboo duvet, plenty of pillows, and an extra blanket for good measure.
Wintergreen Studios is located in a 204-acre wilderness setting, in the heart of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. We are nearest the village of Westport, which is approximately 17 km northeast. There you can buy groceries at Kudrinko’s, wine at the Scheuermann Winery, beer at the Westport Brewing Company or The Beer Store, spirits at the local LCBO, or grab some ice cream at Vanilla Bean’s Café & Creamery.

  • Cute and cozy cottage that was perfect for a weekend away from the city! Check in was easy and the cottage and location are amazing! 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards to use in the water as well as multiple seating areas, a firepit, bbq , and huge dock! The lake was beautiful and there were tons of fish ! Not a complaint at all but just a tip to others to bring bottled water to drink as the water is drinkable but has a slight sulfur odour to it .

  • Great place. We were a group of 9 and everyone slept in a bed and had a great sleep. We went in the winter. Was a great property to play outdoor games, long table for board games and lots of space for the dogs to run around. The place was right on the road but felt like we were alone.

  • Beautiful house, perfect for a big group. Would stay again

    Serena2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful old home. We enjoyed the hot tub and the people we met in Delta were all very nice. The outdoor skating rink was a bonus.

    Connie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place, was a gem in a such a small little town; its literally two doors down from the small grocery store and LCBO. Michael's property was decently size giving room for the dog to run around, beautiful view of the lake, and it had a hot tub, though small was perfect for enjoying those snowy night. In the pictures, Hot tub is pictured further down the yard, but it's been moved to the back deck which made it very easy to access. The house itself, was very nice, spacious, and though the kitchen and bathrooms had some updates the floors of the house were a bit uneven and some spots were worse than others so just had to watch the unevenness but nothing a pair of slippers couldn't fix, it also showed how well the house has stood up in time as that's the only big issue we found. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs, two in the front and two in the back and the bathroom is sorta of in the middle though the jack/jill door doesn't lock super easily but we made it work. All rooms had queen beds which we loved and very cozy blankets! The downstairs consists of a living room which has two sets of double doors which is nice if your trying to contain chatting when people are sleeping, dining area has a huge table with 8 chairs, and kitchen had beautiful granite counter tops and lots of space for food prep, including two oven which we took full advantage of as well as the dishwasher. There is also a guest house, which has another bedroom and pull out couch, full bathroom and kitchen if you are over 10 guests. We had a couple people staying in the guest house and they loved having their own space and somewhere to hang out when the majority of the people in the main house went to bed. There was a small issue with water backing up into the bathroom sink, but a quick message to Michael and he sent his handy man right away. Michael's place is about 30 mins from Brockville and 40 mins to Kingston, both of which we went to. Michael was a great host, he responded very quickly to all inquiries whether before our stay or during. All in all, we had a great relaxing weekend in this 1850s house!

  • Great stay for a nice girls weekend. Kitchen had everything we needed and the hot tub was great.

  • 1 of 3 cottages on a small lake. Cottage #1 where we stayed had an awesome sun room that attached to a deck out back, with a BBQ. Best firepit of the 3 cottages as well. Went canoeing and kayaking multiple times. Mel is super friendly and willing to help out where need be.

  • Very beautiful and relaxing cottage we loved our stay

    Michelle2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I spent the weekend here. The space exceeded expectations - the cottage was clean, cozy, roomy, and the screened in patio and deck were great additions to Cottage 1 - great for relaxing, playing games and having dinner. The lake was beautiful, clean, with access to canoes, paddle boats and a kayak which was really appreciated. Mel also provided wood for the fire pit which was a bonus. There are two other cottages on the property, but we enjoyed having some company, while still having enough privacy. All in all, a great stay for a family get-away weekend!

  • A truly fantastic getaway

    Iain2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing property! The cottage was sparkling clean and appointed with everything you could need. We love the 70’s vibe and retro furniture. There are lots of DVD’s, board games, and puzzles to pass the time away. And so nice to be able to enjoy a fire inside and outside. Can only imagine how nice this place will be in the summer! Don’t hesitate to book!

    Tracy2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jody and Justin’s cottage was a great place to stay at. The cottage is full of character and nostalgic feelings. It was very clean and Hody and Justin were very responsive from the very beginning of the booking. The views from the main room are spectacular and I can only imagine what it’s like in the summer. The cottage is very welcoming and cozy. It is not far from a couple provincial parks if anyone is looking to go for hikes or runs. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.

    Miguel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The whole experience was wonderful - from host communication to location and the space itself. I'd return in a heartbeat. The cottage was super tidy and clean. The kitchen had everything needed for meal prep: pots, pans, plates, cutlery, toaster, microwave, Kerig and auto drip coffee machines. The entire cottage is carpeted - with what I personally think are the most attractive carpets to ever come out of the 1970s. The bathroom floor is tiled, but the kitchen area is carpeted too. I've never seen such clean and well kept rugs. Another reviewer suggested the property is suitable for off-leash dogs, but I wouldn't recommend letting untrained, young or excitable dogs off-leash here in the winter. The property has fencing along the side, but not across the driveway or along the lake. To other big-city-folks: I'd recommend surveying/walking the property down to the lake edge before letting the pup run around - especially in snowy and icy conditions. Land and water look identical when covered in snow! Lastly, don't forget the kindling and dry firewood for the wood stove :)

    Jaime Lyn2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cottage. Beautiful views and surroundings. Very comfortably appointed. Amazing furniture and accents that give out authentic retro vibes. Jody is a warm and thoughtful host. Responds almost immediately in case of any doubts or questions. Definitely want to come and stay here again in a different season.

    Shruti2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage has a spectacular view, including amazing sunsets when the conditions are right. Jody is a wonderful, understanding host. Everything the previous two reviewers said is true - this is a great spot that will fill up fast. A little extra info that hasn't been covered in the other reviews: there is a TV with Netflix, YouTube and other internet options. You can load a YouTube video of a crackling fire, which is almost as good as a real wood stove until the new wood stove is up and running. There is also a fence around most of the property. There's space under the fence for small dogs to get out, but it creates enough of a barrier that well-behaved, off-leash pets will know not to cross it. Note that there is a steep drop (about 8 feet) at the water's edge, so we had to keep our blind dog leashed so that he would not fall. The cottage is very spacious and while we were only 2 people, I think that two couples or a family with children would find it very comfortable. Downtown Perth is about 15 minutes away, where you can get any supplies you need, with lots of tourism and dining options. We wanted a winter cottage getaway with all the modern amenities and close to a pretty town with dining options, and that's exactly what we got! Thank you Jody and family for the great stay!

    Lara2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you've come this far don't even hesitate, book this place now because I know bookings are going to fill up fast. The place is perfect. Jody could not be a better host, kind and considerate, and goes more then that extra mile in terms of hospitality. The pictures (at the time of this review) do not do this hidden gem justice. The location is well secluded, huge front deck, perfect fire pit, and best of all the lake is no more then a few hundred feet from the back porch. Inside you have the feeling of a 70's, early 80's retro cabin, with all of the modern day necessities we have grown accustomed to. The furniture fits the period perfectly yet seems like everything was bought brand new decades ago, perfectly stored, and only unveiled now. The main part of the cabin is surrounded by windows for an amazing view of the lake whether you are eating breakfast in the dining area or doing a puzzle (we got a bit of it done, lol) in the lounge area. The bathroom has the modern touches of comfort, and the 3 bedrooms have everything you need. Clearly all of the linen, comforters, pillows, and towels are practically brand new, maintained and cleaned. The place itself was spotless. Without doubt we will be back in the warmer months. Thank you Jody and to your husband for a great weekend for my daughters 16th bday!!

  • Speachless! Amazed! In heaven! Overwhelmed! Hm, there ain‘t any words how to express our sincere thanks for having had the chance to stay some days with Lloyd and David at there wonderful and peaceful place. This is the place to be when you travel in Ontario. The house is located directly at the Indian Lake with amazing views, very peaceful and just the place where you want to be to relax. Lloyd and David offering Canoe and have been so kind to take us out on a great boat trip on the lake. The house and guests rooms are great, spacious and perfectly decorated. Very clean and bathropes were provided as well! When it comes to food...don’t go out to any restaurants...it is not worth it, as David and Lloyd are offering the greatest dinner ever! Dinner and breakfast is prepared with so much passion, love and joy and made of only fresh and organic ingredients, it is just so tasty and yam yam. Have been to various 5* restaurants around the globe, but none of them can compete with what David cooked for us! Not to forget, that they also served us the greatest breakfast on the deck one morning, after we returned from a sunrise canoe tour! Just incredible! David and Lloyd are the best! Thank you for having us and giving us the opportunity to stay with you! We will surely come back and can only recommend anyone to stay with you!

    Udo2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Indian Lake B&B exceeded our expectations. David & Lloyd greeted us when we arrived in the evening and took us around the property for a tour. Even at night, the grounds were beautiful. After a restful nights sleep we woke up to a complimentary breakfast which was absolutely fantastic. I'm not typically a breakfast person but I couldn't get enough! We enjoyed fires in the evening, canoe rides in the lake, and use of the outdoor shower. The stars at night were plentiful and we could actually see the milky way. The sunset from the waterfront was gorgeous as well with reds and pinks across the sky. We opted in for a dinner made by chef David on our last night and wished we had booked our dinner earlier in our stay so that we could have had the opportunity to have another dinner made by David. Highly recommended! We really can't say enough good things about Indian Lake B&B and David, Lloyd and their sweet pup Betty. We will definitely be back again.

    Victoria2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Oh my goodness! What a wonderful B&B experience. David, Lloyd and Betty (fur baby) are fantastic hosts. From the moment we arrived we felt like family. Their home is clean and beautifully decorated. Chef David is so warm and outgoing! He is incredibly passionate about life and of course food. We really enjoyed his company and cooking. We were absolutely spoiled with fresh home-made dishes made with local ingredients. We strongly recommend ordering a dinner during your stay. Lloyd is so sweet and funny. He is incredibly considerate and talented. His gardens are impeccable and his attention to detail is really appreciated. If you get a chance take Lloyd up on a boat tour of the surrounding waters. We feel so lucky to have experienced this B&B, what a gem! Our only regret is leaving too soon!

    Tiffany2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing experience at Indian Lake B&B. David and Lloyd were perfect hosts and made us feel welcome. Lots of wildlife to see as well as fish to be caught! A great place to kick back and enjoy the view or go canoeing or kayaking! I can't think of a more perfect place to relax. The food was amazing and I picked up a few tips for my own cooking at home! We wish we could have stayed longer but are already making plans to come back!

    Ryan2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We have travelled to many types of getaway weekends and as a result have become very picky in our choice of lodging. David and Lloyd’s friendly lakeside B&B exceeded our already high expectations! Every detail of our stay brought the feeling of being at a luxury spa. It was beautiful, relaxing and best of all the owners immediately made us feel like we were visiting friends. The property is gorgeous with several tucked away lounge spots in perfect locations for looking out at the lake. In fact, everywhere has a view of the lake. Our corner bedroom had two windows, one with a view of the garden leading down to the lake and the other to see the morning sunrise. The outdoor shower is private and again, it gave us the feeling of being at a high end spa. After supper we were treated to the coffee and dessert portion of the meal at an outdoor fire where evening conversation was enjoyed with the owners and other guests. We were David and Lloyd's first guests to arrive by boat! They are perfected situated just 5 minutes off the main channel of the Rideau Canal. We cannot leave a review without mentioning the food. Be sure to order the evening meal with your stay. David’s skills as a chef are phenomenal. He also welcomes you into the kitchen during prep and freely gives cooking advise. When both the presentation and taste of the food is 5 star we have to add +++. They were meals that will not be forgotten. We are already planning a return trip. When word gets out about this place it is going to be near impossible to get a reservation!

    Dave2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Is there a rating higher than 5 and a special category better than superHost? David and Lloyd from start to finish are amazing. This is a 5 star, high class, down to earth experience for relaxation and enjoyment. Their long years of customer service experience at 5 star hotels and with luxury customers is evident. Every little touch is just spectacular. We stay at a lot, and I mean a lot of hotels , b & b, and air bnb. This is not your average share our space air bnb. This is run as a high class and five star bed and breakfast/Inn/resort experience. I don’t even know where to start! The immediate responsiveness from Lloyd, the in person greeting from David and Lloyd. The little touches in our room and in the common spaces. Relaxing hot tub under roof cover, outdoor seating areas plentiful for privacy, the fireplace experience where they set up blankets and lit a fire and offered tea and beverages. The sun rise from the end of the dock chairs to the sun set from the swing. The chef experience with chef David and the special touches in our rooms from Lloyd. We felt like family and will need to get back so very soon! In fact I am going to book now before the secret is out and no more rooms become available. Please experience this home, lake and area soon!

    Jacqueline2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Indian Lake B&B is a 5 star hotel and fine dining restaurant disguised as a waterfront AirBnB. Super host status is an understatement for the quality of service and warm hospitality that greeted us. Special additional features included an indoor hot tub, outdoor shower, garden-fresh vegetables and preserves, extremely comfortable beds, lots of places to lounge Including: the gazebo, the dock, the sun porch, the firepit, beside the outdoor kitchen, the outdoor dining area, and of course the places inside the house, a 6 am canoe paddle on a tranquil lake, wildlife in abundance, spectacular breakfasts (included in the rate) and even better evening dinners (well worth the extra cost-remember to bring your own wine and beer) with great attention to food allergies and dietary needs, bathrobes, fresh flowers, a fire pit with marshmallows and the list goes on. I can’t thank you enough for making my birthday celebration one that I will cherish always! I look forward to returning in the fall to enjoy the autumn leaves and in winter to ice fish! Thank you Thank you Thank you

Rebecca's cozy waterfront cottage is perfect for family or friends looking for indoor and outdoor time together. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the clean Sand Lake, just walking distance from dowtown Westport, where the amazing shops will tempt you to go back and back again. This is a great rustic cottage, with all the touches of home. We provide fresh towels, and all the beds are ready with bedding when you arrive.
The Cottage has 3 bedrooms and a very large screened-in porch. There is also two sofa beds in the front room. One note is that the bedrooms have walls but no ceiling on them (it's all open throughout the whole cottage). The kitchen is fully stocked with everything that you need to cook some nice meals, a BBQ is outside for grilling. We supply drinkable water in a water cooler on the porch area. The cottage is well situated on the lake, with a dock that leads into the water. We provide adult size water shoes as the lake does have some zebra mussels. Watch the sunrise and sunset, relaxing by the lakefront. You will enjoy a meal in the large screened-in porch and enjoy nature at its best as every season is different. This is a quiet waterfront area with neighbors. We ask that you respect your surroundings and use appropriate language.
Westport is a gem and most people who come here always come back to create memories and enjoy the quietness and variety of shops
  • This was a repeat visit for us and everything is still just as described. Francine was very quick to reply to any questions that we had, the cottage is lovely and very clean. A new dock made for a lovely spot to watch the sunset. There is everything you need in the kitchen if you are making your own meals. Great location close to town if you need anything. Would recommend without hesitation.

Francine responded to any questions very quickly, the place was very clean, anything you would need to prepare and serve a meal was available, location is great, swimming is good, quiet lake, lovely to sit on the dock and watch the sunset or look at the stars. Although no Wi-Fi, it was no issue accessing the internet (if you must). would recommend: Yes would return: Yes

The popular hiking spot known as Rock Dunder is also on this area of the lake (google Rock Dunder!) and can be accessed either by car in the village of Morton, or by canoe or rowboat provided (less than a km.) Life jackets in assorted sizes are provided. There is also a trail on our own property which leads you to a high rock with spectacular views of the lake. • Our stay at Nick’s place was amazing, Nick and Jeanie are awesome hosts ! The location is great, Nick took us on a fall tour on his boat to see the colours on the lake, these people care about their hosts. This place is a must do if you want a nice cottage on a lake !

  • Nick and Jeanie are fantastic hosts, very thoughtful. The location was perfect, so peaceful. The hummingbirds where adorable, we enjoyed watching them every morning while having a coffee outside and the sounds of the Loons was so pretty to hear. Canoeing was awesome! We highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to be surrounded by nature.

    Aaron2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great mini vacation! The cottage was spacious and well stocked. Nick and Jeanie let us use their canoe, and also gave us the option to use their dock if we wanted to. We visited Jones Falls and Rock Dunder which were each about a 15 minute drive away. The Rock Dunder hike was several hours long and supplied some gorgeous views! Definitely worth it. The water by the cottage was nice and warm, though a bit weedy at the beginning. Overall, it was a great way to unplug. Feeling very refreshed!

If seclusion is what your after you will have the whole Island to yourself. Great fishing. It is suggested you have a canoe, even though its only a 10 min paddle from your parking spot. If you don't have a canoe, you can rent one of ours for an extra 40$ per day
Lov Island is a peaceful, serene and private spot. However there is a campground within earshot, respect other's quiet times is requested
  • This place was a true heaven on earth. Enjoyed every single bit of it. True camping experience on this isolated island. For sure I’ll be back here next fall with my wife. Everything was amazing except the trouble my friend made. Host was so polite and understanding to resolve the mess we created. Sincere appreciation for that.

  • An amazing island to getaway to on a quiet lake. Wonderful views, a fire pit and a private island, what more could you ask for?! Trent and his wife are so kind and make wonderful hosts. Their dog is also so cute. Thanks so much, we can't wait to camp here again.

Welcome to Whitefish Lake. I am offering my 5 year old cottage for rent. It is a family owned property on the Historic Rideau Canal, a short distance from many local attractions: - Rock Dunder -Jones Falls - Westport - Opinicon at Chaffeys Locks - Newboro I have a dock for your use which can be used for swimming or docking your boat. I also provide a propane BBQ, canoe, paddle board and 2 youth kayaks.
This log cabin is a recent build. It is comfortably spacious and provides lots of space indoors and outdoors for your lake getaway. Sleeping more than 5 guests may be possible. Please contact me about how I can help accommodate your group.
My cottage sits in a quiet and private setting surrounded by trees on 3 sides and water at the front. You can enjoy the boat traffic, watch for wildlife, fish and swim off the dock, enjoy a coffee by the water, or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet on the deck with a book.
  • A great spot we used as a home base for a wedding in the area. Fabulous hosts and family helping. Beautiful spot with an amazing view especially this time of year ❤️

  • Great place to unwind and disconnect! Will be going back for sure!

  • The cottage was fantastic. It was exactly as described and had everything one could want. The view of the deck was amazing and the perfect spot for a morning coffee or an afternoon nap. The beds were very comfy and each room was well appointed. A great location very near Jones Falls and right on the Rideau. We will be back.

  • Everything was perfect! Thank you so much Allison!

  • We had a lovely stay at Allison's cottage. It was clean, private, and spacious. We went on a walk around the property to a lookout which was really beautiful. Check in and out was really easy and the instructions to find the cottage were great. The water was weedy by the dock and shore, but the centre of the lake was a short float away.

  • Beautiful cabin. Very quiet and serene. The water and dock are not easily accessible. Keep in mind if someone with mobility issues is planning to visit. Otherwise so lovely.
