Places to stay in Llanwrda
A comfortable single room in a detached house situated in a small Welsh village with all amenities close by. The village has a shop and a train station (Heart of Wales line) and many lovely walks. The area is set within the pretty Cambrian and Black mountains offering waterfalls, bike rides and mountain walks and the magnificent Brecon Beacons are also within a 20 minute drive.
A single room, but I have a spare mattress should a second person wish to stay too, although the bed will be on the floor.

Fresh clean accommodation, tucked away up in the hills with fantastic views across the Brecon Beacons National Park. We have a 12 acre smallholding with a flock of Black Welsh Mountain Sheep and 2 delightful Pygmy Goats. It’s the perfect location to watch the magnificent red kite birds of prey soaring above. The accommodation is self-contained with it’s own entrance. It’s part of the farmhouse where your hosts, Ken and Sue, live. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise.
There is a strong 4G mobile phone signal at the property but currently no WiFi. There’s a small TV and DVD player with a selection of DVD’s. You are welcome walk around our land and woods, but please leave all gates as you found them.
We are in a very quiet rural location, so its a great place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. Our nearest neighbours are a 10 minute walk across the fields. You won’t hear any traffic only birdsong and bleating sheep. The views from the property are spectacular. The nearest town is Llandovery which is about 6 miles away. It has 3 cafe’s, several pubs serving delicious good value food, a proper fish & chip shop, Indian and Chinese takeaways, a couple of small supermarkets, doctor/dentist and pharmacy. The nearest shop for milk, bread, chocolate etc is the Village Shop in Llanwrda, 1.5 miles away. There is also a good cafe in Llanwrda serving delicious breakfasts and lunch. Llandeilo is around 8 miles away and offers more than Llandovery for shopping, but if you are looking for “High Street” shops you will have to go to Carmarthen which is about 17 miles away.
  • Sue and Ken are great hosts being on hand to help with any queries. Their property was lovely. Everything was sparkling clean. It is in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed our stay and they definitely deserve the 5 stars we gave them.

    Jayne2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's Place is a really fab find. The accommodation was exactly as I had hoped, in fact even better because everything seemed either new or very well looked after. We hardly saw anyone the entire weekend but it was great knowing that Sue was just next door if we needed her. What really took us by surprise is the views from the land, which you can walk all around. There is a little woodland area at the back of the house that takes you up even higher and you can walk all the way down the lane and through an avenue of hazels to the river. It is incredibly peaceful. Could not fault it at all and will be recommending to friends.

    Clare2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had the perfect stay at Sue's. The annex is warm and cosy with great facilities. After a very long blustery day walking The Brecons it was lovely to get back to. The bed was extremely comfy and my husband and I slept very well. We very much I joyed watching the pigmy goats play, all the animals were very friendly. Its a great spot, we highly recommend!

The Half Moon is an ex-pub, 10 mins walk from the station, in a conservation area on a street where once 18 pubs served passing drovers. An eco-venue, we offer vegan options, PV panels, rainwater collection, EV charging & grow some food. You can buy all you need very nearby in local boutique shops, incl. newsagent, patisserie, P.O, butcher, shoe, hardware, gift & organic wholefood shops. Great cafes, eateries & pubs are in easy walking distance –even a place where the first cheque was written!
The Half Moon is much larger inside than it seems on the outside, with a beautiful, calm feeling, spacious rooms and pleasant garden. Make yourself at home.
Llandovery is a lovely market town sandwiched between the spectacular Brecon Beacons National Park and little explored but equally amazing Cambrian Mountains. Its name means Church of the Waters, since several rivers meet here. A Roman settlement, it's not far from the gold mines and the hideout of Twm Siôn Cati, known as the Welsh Robin Hood.
  • David was such a good host, he had so much knowledge of the local area and let us borrow a map for a route we hadnt thought about. The room was lovely and the bed super comfy if a little creaky. The whole house was beautiful and pancho the cat is adorable.

    Ali2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • David's place is a unique, special house. He has a very big kitchen where we could make tea/coffee and have breakfast if wanted. There's also a lounge for guests to use with a TV. Llandovery is a very nice small town and the house is very close to everything. It would be a great place to explore from.

    Anne2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A clean and very interesting house and its owner. An old pub changed to a house with upstairs bedroom, bathroom and drying room and downstairs spacious, fully equipped kitchen we could use. We were greeted in person by David and shown everything in his house, this personal touch made our stay a delight. Thanks David!

  • David is a Super host along with Poncho the cat. A great team in a stylish property. We had a really terrific stay & highly recommend The Half Moon! David made us feel so welcome as a family and generously shared produce from his garden & delicious treats he had made. An apple cake I will never forget + delicious jams & preserves. We feel we made a friend in David who was generous with his time & knowledge. Llandovery is a delightful market town with plenty of pubs to choose from and good local amenities. We look forward to returning :)

Everyone welcome to stay in this characterful 260 year old stone farmhouse overlooking the beautiful hills and valleys of the Black Mountains. You'll be warmly welcomed by the host with a generous cup of tea or coffee.............
The location is in the far north western corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park with stunning views of the hills and easy access to the nearest towns of Llandovery, Brecon and Llandeilo as well as the mountains, lakes and rivers. The house itself is set on a hillside down a quiet and remote country lane surrounded by the beauty of nature - the only sounds coming from the leaves rustling in the wind, the water from the small waterfalls in the stream and the abundance of birds and wildlife. This is an area where we try and keep it part of the Dark Skies Reserve so at night there is total darkness where you can see a million stars. A place to relax, revitalise your soul, rejuvenate your energies and immerse yourself in peace, tranquillity and beauty.
These rural lanes are very quiet and walkable with extremely few if no traffic at all - mainly the postman once every few days. Just a few hundred metres down into the valley from the house there is a bridge straddling a river which will soon have salmon swimming through it. The nearest village (approx 4miles) has a very helpful Tourist Information Centre, some interesting shops and a stunning stainless steel statue of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan on the remnants of Llandovery Castle (1116) - a must to be seen at night! There's The Bear Inn in the Market Square for lunch or evening meal or The Old Post Shop for delicious hand-made chocolates, gifts or coffees. There's two larger eateries, take aways, an Indian and Chinese, numerous pubs, a Post Office and Library. Further affield you have Myddfai (where Prince Charles has his famous B & B); near Llangadog you have the mountains of Lyn-y-Fan Fach from the famous Lady of the Lake folk lore who gave birth to the Physicians of Mydffai; then you have the road through Llangadog and up onto the mountains and over to Brynaman - totally awe inspiring and even better if you turn down one of the side lanes and let the adventures begin.....and so much more to explore!
  • I had a wonderful experience staying at Tilly's place and spent a great time with Tilly for a week in her unique stone house in Wales. The room I stayed was very clean, spacious, and comfortable with an amazing view of natural landscape. Tilly is very kind, sweet, and considerably caring with a heart-warming hospitality as well as her wisdom. I recommend Tilly's place for Airbnb guests who are seeking for a quite, peaceful, and unique cottage retreat to experience a taste of Wales.

  • Friendly host. Located in a lovely setting. A warmly home.

  • A beautiful, peaceful and remote rural location. Sparkling clean, friendly and helpful. A perfect retreat.

    Greg2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed my overnight stay here. It's an old traditional farmhouse, very tastefully decorated and furnished and guests can use the kitchen for cooking and dining. Tilly was very welcoming and informative and the room was great. As a cyclist, the only thing which would have made it even better would be provision of a cooked breakfast, as the house is three miles or so from Llandovery. But i would highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay in a quiet location.

    Bryn2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • If it's peace and quiet you're after, you will find no better location. Couple that with an excellent host, comfortable bed and you have 5 star accommodation at a superb price. Don't forget the wonderful spring water out of the taps. What's not to like?

    Brian2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Tilly is a nice person and a great host. She is very respectfull and helpfull. She gave me good advices for my trip around brecon beacons. I strongly recommannd if you look for a quiet place and enjoy a retreat in brecon beacons.

Set in the heart of Wales, the home is ideally located for those ready to get away from it all and to enjoy a true Welsh holiday. This detached property is situated on the edge of the beautiful small market town of Llandovery, with all the luxuries and more of home. Guests will find a peaceful family home which will always provide a warm and stress-free welcome at the end of your day. The home away from home is ideal for walkers, cyclists, couples and families. A real hidden gem!
The home is on the edge of the small picturesque town of Llandovery. The town centre is minutes walk from my front door as is the town rail station on the Heart of Wales railway line. The large bedroom is warm and clean with a beautiful view; there is ample storage space for belongings. The garden backs onto a footpath that can be followed down to the banks of the River Towy, under 2 minutes walk away! There is a 3/4 size snooker table in the home with chalk, cues and balls. Full signal and Wifi is available throughout the property. There is off-road parking available. Smoking is allowed outside the house in the rear garden. The house is centrally heated and laundry is available for those staying a minimum of three nights.
There are a number of charming little shops and a selection of pubs and restaurants in Llandovery to spend an evening. Llandovery’s unique location makes it the perfect place for you to base yourself for your Welsh holiday. The following are just some of the places to visit, the driving time there is in brackets. To the North….... Cwm-Rhaedyr red route Mountain Biking (15min) Mountain Bike Rider magazine quoted it has “one of the best trails we’ve ridden anywhere in the UK” Dolaucothi Gold Mines (20min) The ancient Roman Gold Mines are great for adults and kids. Twm Sion Cati Nature Reserve and Cave (20min) My favourite walk in the local area! Walk along the boardwalk in thick woods rife with bird species to a circular walk, and the "cave" where the Welsh Robin Hood used to hide from the law! Llyn Brianne Dam (30min) There are numerous walks around and across the huge Dam wall in the foothills of the Elan Valley. Elan Valley (1hr) A walker’s and cyclist’s dream. The stunning Elan Valley is criss-crossed with trails for all levels and abilities. To the East........... Brecon Beacons and Pen-y-Fan (30min) The spectacular Brecon Beacons is on the doorstep. A half hour drive to the highest mountain in South Wales, Pen-y-Fan is also a must! Usk reservoir (30min) A great place for a picnic, numerous trails go around the lake. A good point to begin and end a day’s hiking. Llangorse lake riding and climbing centre (40min) Perfect for kids of all ages. I used to take my boys there for their birthday every year, perfect for a rainy day! The Big Pit Museum (1hr 10min) A great chance to understand the history of South Wales by going down a Welsh mine, with underground tours. To the South and West............ Red Kite feeding station (15min) A good place to stop off at on the way to or back from a day on the Black Mountain or up Llyn-y-Fan Fach. National Trust Property Dinefwr House and Castle (20 mins) Beautiful walk from the grounds of the country estate to the castle through a deer park. The house is perfect for a rainy day. Black Mountain, (25min) The Black Mountain is a great ascent on a clear day. Talley Abbey and Nature Reserve (25min) The Abbey itself is in ruins now but the walks around the Nature Reserve are beautiful. Dan yr Ogof Caves (30 min) Spend a day at one of the largest cave systems in Europe. There are loads of great walks in the surrounding mountains too. Castles: Carrig Cennen, Dinefwr, Dryslwyn (30min). Wales has more castles per square mile than anywhere in the world! Carrig Cennen is just a short drive away and in my view is the best of the bunch! Llyn-y-Fan Fach (30min) An absolutely incredible walk to a lake which sits in the shadow of the mountain summit. The lake itself is the subject of the Lady of the Lake legend. The views from the summit are well worth the hike. National Botanic Gardens (35min) Llansteffan Beach (50min) A personal favourite of mine as you can walk around the headland of the beach and up to a castle that looks out over the estuary. Dylan Thomas Boathouse (55min) The boathouse in Laugharne where Dylan penned his poems is a wonderful change from the hills and mountains of mid Wales. The town of Laugharne is beautiful and has some lovely walks along the coastal path. There are also plenty of wonderful trails around Llandovery for those who don't want to venture too far from the house. I'm happy to show you on a map all my favourite trails around the local area!

The house is in a conservation area, not far from the centre. This listing is for the single room; another is for the double.
At the end of the street is where the first cheque was ever issued. The Black Ox was a pub, became a bank, and was bought by Lloyds. The ox became the black horse! The street was an old drovers' route and used to have 18 pubs on it to cater for them; this house was once one of them.
  • David’s place is fascinating and full of (nice) surprises - particularly for anyone with an interest in books, music and art generally - the best sort of AirBnB experience...

The Coach House is a charming cosy cottage situated well off the beaten track amongst the beautiful Carmarthanshire countryside & bluebell woods. Situated on the owners' smallholding; you are welcome to wander in the fields and woodland to meet our extended family of pet sheep, alpacas & goats plus 2 friendly horses and a donkey. In the garden are assorted hens & ducks to help wake you up in the morning & help to keep you entertained! Come and enjoy picnics & stunning sunsets in complete seclusion in any of the fields. Some of our recent lovely guests shared pictures on Instagram too! https://www.instagram.com/izogadventure/
The Coach House is a peaceful cosy retreat. It has been lovingly converted from a former outbuilding and has much charm and character. Consisting of one beautiful open plan space with cosy living area with large antique wood burner (that can be opened to give the experience of an open fire), there is oil fired central heating but we would advise bringing slippers if booking in the winter months, Wi-Fi (nb. signal can be intermittent especially in bad weather!), TV (freeview over 100 channels), DVD player & CD/radio (with Bluetooth connection for playing music from any of your own devices). There is a beautiful bedroom on the mezzanine level as well as a fully equiped kitchen and bathroom. The private covered outside area is perfect for enjoying the peace of the countryside with a drink and a bbq. The dark skies at night are perfect for stargazing. There is a beautiful view from the owner's garden which you can enjoy from the bench (pictured) just below the Coach House and also from the stunning circular feature window in the bedroom. The Coach House is perfectly suited as a romantic retreat for couples but can also be enjoyed by families due to the sofa bed in the living area. A cot and high chair can be provided on request; although care should be taken with small children due to the cottage layout with 2 sets of stairs and the sitting area is not enclosed. Initial supply of logs included and additional wood can be provided for a small charge.
The Coach House is situated just a few minutes from the beautiful village of Talley with it's stunning lakes, fascinating historic Abbey and plentiful woodland walks. There are some village pubs in nearby Cwmdu and Llansawell and the historic town of Llandeilo is approx. 7 miles away. Here you will find all amenities; Co op supermarket, local butchers & bakery as well as plentiful pubs, takeaways, cafes & restaurants including the famous Gin House, The Cawdor & Chocolate Emporium. Here in Llandeilo you also have the fantastic National Trust Dinefwr; stunning parkland with historic house and castle. Talley is situated within 30 mins drive to the market towns of Llandovery, Carmarthan & Lampeter; all of which have their unique history charm as well as modern shopping facilities and cinema, swimming pools etc. Close by you will find other National Trust treats such as the famous Goldmines. The fantastic Brecha forest, Black Mountains and stunning Pembrokeshire beaches such as Pendine Sands, the Cardigan bay coastal beaches such as New Quay & Aberaron as well as the Gower are all within an hour's drive. Nearest beach is Llansteffan, only 45 mins drive.
  • We’ve just returned from a few days away at The Coach House and are already planning when we can return! Claire and Shaun are wonderful hosts, we felt so welcomed and it’s obvious how much they care about their guests’ experience. A perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We loved all of the animals, and especially appreciated the opportunity to feed them! They all have their own characters and it was lovely to hear the stories of where they came from, and to see how much Claire and Shaun care for all of them. The Coach House itself is cosy, super clean and a relaxing space to stay in. It has everything you’d need and more! If you’re thinking about staying here then just book it, you won’t regret it!

  • If you want cosy, secluded, relaxing, clean, beautiful, close to nature, quiet, calm, characterful, off the beaten track...the list goes on, then Shaun and Claire’s Coach House is the perfect getaway. From the gorgeous building itself, to the warming wood stove, the cute animals to the stunning views, the friendly hosts to the characterful coach house, this place was a beaut! We will be coming back in the summer!

    Chris2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Claire and Shaun's Coach House and it was just as perfect as the first time. It's such a cosy space and the rural location is so tranquil. The Coach House has everything you need for your stay and is so well looked after. We absolutely love it here and hope to return soon!

    Gemma2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • You won’t be disappointed! The Coach House is an immaculately converted home with high ceilings and comfy furniture. We loved the opportunity to feed the animals and enjoyed opening the curtains in the mornings to see the faces of inquisitive geese and ducks peeking back at us. Claire and Shaun are wonderful hosts. We were only away for a day and a half but we feel as though we have had a week’s holiday. We’ll be back 😁

    Rebecca2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Claire and Shaun are the most spectacular hosts going above and beyond to cater for their guests. Prosecco and welsh cakes on arrival is always a treat! Stunning home, with breath taking surroundings. Happy to make this our annual get away when visiting family and would recommend a million times over to anyone to stay here. Thank-you again for a wonderful experience, we look forward to seeing you again very soon x

    Jade2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights and couldn't have asked for a better stay. The coach house was beautiful - spotlessly clean and had absolutely everything we would need for a comfortable stay. However the thing that really made this weekend break amazing was the atmosphere and the hosting. Shaun and Claire are the perfect hosts. From showing us around the fields and introducing us to all their beautiful, gentle animals, to providing extra board games for the children. They absolutely respected and ensured our privacy but were always on hand for a chat or if we needed anything. We felt completely relaxed, welcome and at home. We couldn't recommend the coach house more, and we are already planning our next stay with them very soon!

Meadow Cottage is a welcoming, cosy two bedroomed retreat raised from the ruin of a Welsh longhouse. It nestles in a beautiful valley flanked by trees and hills and is the perfect place for a relaxing break. As you approach the property along the narrow country lane, be prepared to fall into the embrace of this peaceful and tranquil location. The cottage is well equipped and has a pretty garden surrounded by fields and woodland with a patio for alfresco dining or just being at one with nature.
The cottage is a dedicated holiday home and is situated within our 200 acre farmland estate. The original property collapsed many years ago and when we acquired it, the only parts still standing were the livestock end, which was complete, and part of the wall containing the original fireplace. We decided to renovate the cottage and used as much as possible of the old stone still lying nearby, and in 1999 it was re-born. At night, Meadow Cottage is near silent except for the odd owl hooting or the wind rustling in the trees, and the sky is properly dark except for the moon and stars - a perfect recipe for the townie needing a good nights sleep. To help you dream on, our comfortable beds have soft snuggly duvets and pillows with fresh colour coordinated bed linen. In the Kitchen, you’ll find all the equipment you’ll need to prepare anything from basic grub to an epicurean feast. We provide tea towels, dish cloths and cleaning products. The cosy Lounge has windows overlooking the front and back gardens. It has two comfy sofas and an armchair. On a chilly evening, you can enjoy the log burning stove. The spacious Double Bedroom on the first floor has a king size pine bed, dressing table, hair dryer, wardrobe, chest of drawers, walk in eaves cupboard for storage and a boudoir chair. Adjacent to the Double Bedroom is the Bathroom which has a basin, wc, bath with shower and a warm airing cupboard. You will find individually wrapped scented soap, relaxing bubble bath, soft towels and a pack of four toilet tissue. The Twin Bedroom is on the ground floor and has two 3' single beds with bedside cabinets and reading lights. There is a matching tallboy with drawers and hanging space. A few steps down from the hallway is the Laundry Room equipped with a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board with iron and clothes airer. For drying wet dogs we have provided some old towels. We are Martin and Karen and we welcome our guests with a complimentary hamper of tea, coffee and biscuits with milk in the fridge. Our home is next door, so to speak, 300 metres along a farm track and we host the cottage with the help of our co-host, Liz. We are always happy to meet you, chat or help with anything you need.
  • Lovely cottage in a beautiful peaceful location with everything we needed for a relaxing cosy stay.

  • Gorgeous cottage in a tranquil secluded spot. Total privacy. Access to the field was a real bonus as we had our dog with us. Llandovery is a nice little town with good food served at the dog-friendly Castle Hotel. Great access to beautiful countryside.

  • This was a return visit for us to this perfect place. It's an incredibly quiet location, perfect for our stay over the firework period to save our dog Sammy from being agitated by any loud bangs or pops. Without doubt, it's the cleanest and most relaxing of all the cottages we have stayed at. It has beautiful peaceful surroundings and everything you need. We would highly recommend Martin & Karen's cottage to anyone, and look forward to our next visit!

    Andy2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Peace and quiet in lovely cosy, clean cottage. Lots of birds visiting the garden daily. Great for the dogs, they were super relaxed and enjoyed the garden and streams.

A gorgeous, sympathetically restored character barn, set in the beautiful countryside within the Brecon Beacons National Park with exposed stonework, oak beams, flag stone floor with under-floor heating and log burner. The living area is spacious, yet cosy, with a well equipped kitchen and dining area. Large bedroom with a king size bed and a stylish bathroom with shower. Guests have sole use of a sunny south-west facing terrace enjoying grand views across the Sawdde Valley.
The ground floor includes a fully fitted kitchen, dining area and living room - in all around 500 sq. ft. A parcel of logs and kindling will be provided on arrival if required (the house has underfloor heating as its primary source and the woodburner is not usually needed for heat! )Additional logs can be supplied at cost. The living room has a comfortable sofa, lovely lighting, a TV and DVD player (no terrestrial connection, but lots of DVDs to choose from!) and WIFI connection. The kitchen is well equipped, with granite work surfaces, butler's sink overlooking the garden, butchers block, freestanding oven/hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment, washing machine and dishwasher. The bedroom, on the first floor, has a king size bed (with a firm, very comfortable mattress, and hotel quality cotton bed linen) and a lovely bathroom with toilet, basin and large mains-fed shower (towels provided). A single quality guest bed with slatted support and sprung mattress can be provided, as shown in the photographs, upon request for a third guest. There is a separate built in wardrobe cupboard. The property is adjacent to the owner’s home, but it is not overlooked and you will have sole use of a south west facing terrace with wonderful views to the rear of the barn. A barbeque and patio furniture are included. Locked storage for bicycles can be provided. We provide an initial supply of milk, sugar, tea, coffee and welsh cakes , together with some oil, salt and pepper.
The barn is located in within the UNESCO Fforest Fawr Geopark in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park and lies equidistant between the towns of Llandeilo, with its numerous boutique shops, pubs and restaurants and the market town of Llandovery. Both offer a good choice of places to eat and drink. Llandeilo has a number of literary and music festivals throughout the year, and it is always worth checking if anything is on. There is an abundance of outdoor activities to choose from: road and mountain biking, spectacular walking on the ridges of Llyn y Fan, around the Usk Reservoir, or the Cambrian Mountains near Cilycwm. Geocaching and other organised outdoor activities are plentiful. If pulling on outdoor gear is not your thing, you can wander around the ships of Llandeilo, Newton House in Dinefwr Park (a National Trust property), the magnificent 12th century Carreg Cennen Castle, the Dolau Cothi Gold Mines, the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens: all are a short drive away. Just over an hour’s drive away, you will find the waterfall country of Ystradfellte and the stunning beaches of the Gower Peninsular (to the south), Laugharne (Dylan Thomas’s Boathouse), picturesque Tenby, Cardigan and Newquay (to the West), Llyn Briane (to the North) and Hay on Wye, home to the world famous book festival (to the East).
  • Really lovely space, very clean and had everything we needed. The perfect hosts, friendly and happy to help with anything. Had a lovely stay here and would happily return!

  • An absolutely wonderful stay, Sian and Jan were fantastic hosts. The photos really don't do Pantygrafog Fach justice, it's amazing, really amazing! Every little thing had been thought of.

  • Sian's house is beautifully decorated and well located in the Brecon Beacons. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking and living area and bedroom very cosy. There was local information on hand and the house was very clean. I would love to stay again!

    Mike2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sian's cottage was absolutely gorgeous. A real escape in the heart of the welsh countryside and just a stones throw from some great walks in the Brecon Beacons. Sian was a great host, coming out to help us find the cottage when we got a little lost on the way and showed us how everything worked inside before leaving us to enjoy the rest of our trip. She had also left a detailed folder of all the info you would need regarding the cottage and the local area. As well as some homemade welsh cakes which we enjoyed with a cuppa in front of the wood burner after a nice long walk around Llyn-Y-Fan. In terms of local foodie spots we enjoyed a great dinner at The Castle Hotel in Llandovery and a gem of a brunch find called The Hangout in Llandeilo, both about 15 mins drive away and with delicious food. The perfect little getaway spot to switch off and recharge!

Encountered some car issues and Sian was most helpful, putting me in touch with a local mechanic. Massie the dog also a joy! Will be sure to visit again when next in this part of the world.

  • A lovely, spacious cottage in a superb location. Great facilities at the property including a cosy log burner and a luxurious jacuzzi bath, and extra touches added by the host. Lots of options for walks in the local area, we enjoyed a hike up Mynydd Myddfai. Great cuppa and cake in the local cafe too.

  • Our stay at Llangoedmor House was fantastic, the pictures don't do it justice - it's much bigger than we expected. Sophie was a great host, the eggs, milk & Apple treats were a great welcome and she kept in touch throughout the weekend for anything we needed. Would highly recommend staying here

    Louise2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning house, warm, cosy and very welcoming. The shower and jacuzzi bath are fantastic. The kitchen has lots of little things you wouldn't expect to find such as a mixer, Tupperware and a good range of cookware. The oven may look dated but actually works better than my own. There are lots of games and a wonderful log burner for those cold and wet evenings. It's worth reading the instructions behind the ash pan door of the burner to get full benefit from its use. The village is quite and surrounded by outstanding beauty. Please note if you're looking to walk around Myddfai you need to be ok with hills. Sophie is a great host who does all she can to make your break as comfortable as possible and is quick to respond to any queries you may have.

    Nicky2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. It’s in a great location for exploring the Brecon Beacons and the village of Myddfai is set in wonderful scenery. The cottage is spotless and very well equipped - it is easy to cook meals there as everything is provided. Sophie is also a very informative and helpful host and we really appreciated the thoughtful extras, such as the fresh eggs and welsh cakes . Definitely recommended for a weekend away exploring this beautiful region.

Everyone welcome to stay in this charming 260 year old stone farmhouse overlooking the beautiful hills and valleys of the Black Mountains. You'll be warmly welcomed by the host with a generous cup of tea or coffee.............
The location is in the far north western corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park with stunning views and easy access to the nearest towns of Llandovery, Brecon and Llandeilo as well as the mountains, lakes and rivers.
Just a few hundred metres down into the valley from the house there is a bridge straddling a river which will soon have salmon swimming through it.........so all very safe, peaceful and quiet. The nearest village has a very helpful Tourist Information Centre, some interesting shops, a stunning stainless steel statue of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan on the remnants of Llandovery Castle (1116) - a must to be seen at night! There's The Bear Inn in the Market Square for lunch or evening meal or The Old Post Shop for delicious hand-made chocolates, gifts or coffees. There's two larger eateries, take aways, an Indian and Chinese, numerous pubs, a Post Office, Library and 2 small supermarkets. Further affield you have Myddfai (where Prince Charles has his famous B & B); near Llangadog you have the mountains of Lyn-y-Fan Fach from the famous Lady of the Lake folk-lore who gave birth to the famous Physicians of Mydffai; then you have the road through Llangadog and up onto the mountains to Brynaman - totally awe inspiring and even better if you turn down one of the side lanes and let the adventures begin.....and so much more to explore!
  • Tilly's place is amazing and Tilly is the best host.

  • The room was lovely, Our own bathroom with a lovely deep bath ! Just what we needed and to follow Tilly had put on an electric blanket ! Such a treat . The house is lovely and Tilly is a very considerate and lovely host . Wish we could have stayed longer . Really great value for money , a very fair price for such a lovely stay .

  • This is the ultimate rural retreat- very tucked away and very quiet. Tilly is very welcoming and we had lovely chats on things about nature that we quickly found we had in common. Home made bread and home grown eggs from hens I could see outside reinforced this. No EE mobile reception but there is WiFi. Water is precious- from a spring - but tastes lovely and makes excellent tea.

  • Tilly is a fantastic host very sociable and the accommodation was wonderful and very peaceful.

  • Tilly is really nice and caring. We really enjoyed our stay at her place. I would highly recommend this place. The guest rule book was my favourite read for the night :)

  • Tilly is a lovely lady and always ready to make guests feel comfortable at home in every way. Even though we had a short stay, we spent quality time here away from hustle bustle of cities. Location is just perfect if you want to enjoy country side views and gazing the stars at night. There is no cellphone network so disconnecting yourself is easy. Room and bath were sparking clean and amenities were just great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back. Highly recommend, super host and top location.

  • After a little adventure of single track roads to find the house it was a relaxing night away from all stress of the cities. We met a really kind host and an absolutely cute dog, our room was clean and cosy and we had our own nice little bathroom. In the morning we found some tea prepared and before leaving, bought some eggs of the hens we saw roaming outside the house all day. All in all a perfect choice to stay there during our journey.

    Johann2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tilly's place was peaceful, quite and beautiful surroundings. It a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city's life.

Self contained room and en suite with it's own entrance within a large 1800's Welsh Farmhouse, situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. Amazing walking, cycling (road and off road) and running on the doorstep plus two lovely small towns (Llandovery and Llandeilo) full of independent shops and cafes just a few minutes away. The room is spacious with high ceilings and a huge bathroom. Original shutters at the window along with a window seat that is the perfect spot for a morning coffee.
The room can be a twin or super king and includes a kettle, toaster and small fridge to allow you to make breakfast or simple meals. Along with a selection of china (plates, bowls, mugs). Happy to also provide a travel cot if needed. The room is within the house with a (locked) door joining the inner hallway, so you may hear the noise of family life going on. But our children are primary school aged so out at school Monday-Friday and in bed by 7pm so unlikely to disturb your stay. Given the location within the house we do of course also request for you to be considerate when it comes to noise of both us and our neighbours. No loud music at any time and if coming or going when others may be asleep please keep noise to a minimum. Parking is to the front of the main house on the large gravel drive way.
The Western Brecon Beacons is a somewhat undiscovered area with fewer tourists but some of the best scenery Wales has to offer. Our smallholding is situated just outside the park a few miles south of Llandovery. The property is very quiet being set back from the road up a short track and stepping outside all you can normally hear are sheep, a tractor or a Red Kite whistling. If you enjoy the outdoors there are great walks/trail runs a short drive away (Llyn y Fan Fach is a real gem), great cycling with 3 of the Top 100 climbs within 30km and some awesome mountain biking in Brechfa. Happy to share route recommendations and also provide bike cleaning or maintenance facilities if needed. If you're looking for something more relaxing to do then head for Llandeilo which has some wonderful independent shops and cafes (the Ginhaus Deli does the best flat white in my opinion). You can also reach a number of beaches within an hour or so drive either south or west. Llansteffan, Pembrey and New Quay to name but a few. All generally quiet especially outside of the summer holidays.

Llwyncelyn is a picturesque riverside Victorian grade II listed estate house in Wales with many original features of the era. In the past, the house was a guesthouse and was recently acquired in September 2018 by the current owners Chris & Haydn (& Italian Spinone dogs Blanche and Vera). Due to the size of the house, we are offering two lovely, boutique double bed and breakfast bedrooms (our Holly & Towy Rooms). We offer a complimentary light breakfast for our guests.
Llwyncelyn is a private house located next to the River Tywi, offering options for fishing and pure relaxation. The house is a prominent residence on the main A40 within walking distance from the lovely Welsh Drovers town of Llandovery complete with many restaurants, pubs, cafes, array of independent shops, swimming pool, castle and visitor centre, close proximity to lovely outdoor walking, mountain biking trails, cycling and fishing. We are also closely located to the lovely Llyn Brianne reservoir, Black Mountain (Myndd Du) in the Brecon Beacons and Prince Charles's Welsh Country house at Llwynywermwd.
Llandovery is a small but vibrant Welsh Drovers town with numerous offerings of cafes, pubs, and restaurants offering delectable, well-priced and high quality food options. There is also a fabulous mix of local shops including patisserie, haberdashery, visitor centre, antiques, independent boutiques amongst many others.
  • Both Chris and Hayden were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Room was beautiful as were the surroundings. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back.

  • A beautiful room in a beautiful location, with the river running just alongside the house. Chris and Haydn were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely, very comfortable stay!

    Caitlin2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for cycling, beautiful room/house/gardens. We arrived quite late and Haydn was there to welcome us with open arms! He was very professional and showed us to our rooms, reminding us of their two lovely dogs that might bark in the morning! He also helped us chose a route in the morning and offer went after a lovely continental style breakfast. In the evening we dipped our feet (and then sat) in the river flowing past the house- fantastic recovery for the legs!! It was cold but we had to experience it considering it was so close!! Another Great night’s sleep in the room aside from being a little warm but we were very lucky with the weather so no complaints here! The bed was very comfortable with excellent bedding and plenty of space around the bed in the room. Lovely array of tea and coffee options and Haydn gave us real milk when requested without any issues (otherwise there is little milk pots for use in the rooms). The bathroom was shared with one other room but it worked fine for us as they were up earlier. Great power shower to wake you up! Overall a fab stay in Llandovery, exactly what we wanted to explore the local area by two wheels. Chris and Haydn are excellent hosts and will go out of their way to help you in any way possible. Thank you both for a lovely weekend x

Llanwrda, near Llandovery, Wales, United Kingdom

Between the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Cambrian Mountains, this is a great centre for beautiful countryside. Our pretty cottage with walled garden is in the quiet conservation area of the town. A "Heart of Wales" railway station is nearby.
This is a comfortable "home-from-home" with a welcoming feel to it, that our own family uses from time to time. We hope you will like it as much as we do. There is a good-sized family bathroom and a shower room with toilet and small wash-basin.
The cottage is centrally located near Llandovery Castle and the fabulous statue of Llewelyn-ap-Gruffydd. Castle Street is quite charming and has repeatedly won the town's competition for the "prettiest street." Llandovery itself has local shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and takeaways and there is a good childrens' playground next to the Castle.
  • The cottage is on a very quiet , old street and just a minute’s walk to town and amenities. Great to have two bathrooms and a lovely little outdoor terrace and garden

  • Alice's place is excellent, it's a home away from home. Alice made us feel so comfortable from the time of booking until the end. The home is nestled in a historical lane close to places to visit and local amenities. Perfect for a family getaway, we felt so at home that we even baked ;-) Alice was so kind and offered for us to take extra few hours (free of charge) to avoid the Bank holiday traffic which we did. We are definitely coming back, thanks Alice!

    Sugirtha2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We have just had the most lovely 5 days at the cottage. It has everything you need, the location for good pubs, shops, cafes could not be better...a 2 minute walk. There were 5 adults and a dog and the cottage was perfect. We managed lots of walks and enjoyed cups of tea in the sunny small garden. We will definitely be back, thank you Alice x

  • Alice is a wonderful host, very easy to communicate. She is a kind person and is willing to provide extra help. She has kindly bought some food and fruit free of charge before our arrival. The house is located in the town centre, convenient for travel and eating out. I will book this house again whenever I go back to Llandovery.

    Ping2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place is bang in the centre of Llandovery, very near shops, restaurants, pubs & bookshops but in a very quiet side road with no traffic. Parking close by is easy. The house is spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable and amenities well up to modern standards. Alice is very helpful. Six of us had a great week.

There is room to eat inside or outside on the deck. Derwen has its own BBQ and fire pit, perfect for cooking sausages or toasting marshmallows while you gaze at the incredible starry skies. Black Mountain BreakAway provides the exclusive use of two purpose built shepherd's huts in a secluded location beneath the Black Mountains in Carmarthenshire. One hut provides a bedroom and sitting room with a cosy wood burner. The second hut provides a kitchen in which to prepare simple meals and a shower room with instant hot water. A separate hut contains a compost toilet providing every eco-comfort for our guests.
Black Mountain BreakAway is self-catering accommodation but a DIY breakfast or simple supper can be provided by arrangement.
Gwynfe has a church and a village hall but the nearest shops are 15 mins drive away in Llangadog where there is a general store, a post office, a butcher's shop, several pubs and the nearest railway station. As in many traditional Welsh communities the shops still defer to half-day closing and remain closed on Sundays but we are happy to advise you.
  • What an awesome perfect place for a little hideaway for a few days. Comfy bed (always top of my list) great little kitchenette. Gorgeous views. Totally private. Totally off grid (no WiFi no signal and nowhere to even charge your phone!). Absolutely idyllic to be having breakfast with the sheep every morning. Hope to return.

Suitable for 2, The Bluebell Wagon has a double bed, shower room, hot tub, solar power and wood-burning stove in a peaceful and romantic and very secluded location of it’s own. There is a small belfast sink, gas double burner and plates, cutlery , bedlinen etc Everything you need of a simple life!
Very secluded and peaceful. Standing on the edge of a large wood, overlooking distant hills, you will be surrounded by our farmland, and our small herd of gently grazing pedigree shorthorns, red kites playing in the sky, hares in the long grass and wildfowl on the ponds. Set on a family farm and managed by Marcus & Daniella. As this is a working farm we have a strict NO DOGS policy. Bookings can be made from Friday until Monday, or Monday until Friday (minimum three nights). Or, of course for a week.
The farm is in one of the most beautiful rural parts of Wales, two to three miles from the village of Llangadog (depending which hut you're in) The sense of space and quietness is unique. The village has three pubs, a post office, a general store and an excellent butcher. The main language in this area is Welsh, but all Welsh people are bi-lingual.
  • Lovely place, would definitely come back 😊

  • Beautiful romantic location - private little woodland with a wonderful hot tub. Love it :)

    Nadia2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • If this is a stay that you're contemplating we wouldn't hesitate in highly recommending, you won't regret it. The location is secluded and private, nestled in the wood with the dramatic backdrop of the foothills of The Brecon Beacons. Daniella and Marcus are most accomidating and have thought of every detail. Whether you want a recommendation of somewhere to eat, a good walk or some local history, both a wealth of knowledge. We booked this as a romantic retreat away and it was the perfect place for us to get engaged. We wouldn't change anything about our stay, not even the damp weather, we found the rain and wind very much added to the experience, especially while enjoying the hot tub at night. A bit of advise with the hot tub... As Murcus advises, 6-8 logs is plenty. Light it and leave it. Be patient. We will definitely be returning.

    Marryck2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay! Loved seeing the hares and the woodpeckers and hearing the owls. Wonderfully relaxing and a really nice setup, hope to be back soon.

    Marcus2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful relaxing quiet and truly secluded hideaway in the most beautiful setting. Ideal for couples who want it to be 'just them'. The bluebell Wagon more than lived up to expectations. The hot tub was easy to use and just wonderful. The Bathroom was spotlessly clean (forgive a few spiders webs... You're in the woods!!) The bed sheets clean and pressed and the bed so comfy. Didn't need to use the wood burner in the wagon but it was full and ready to go! A little gas hob to heat your kettle for a cup of tea and plates mugs glasses etc provided. Marcus and Daniella are great characters and wonderful hosts who greet you on arrival and then leave you to your own devices unless you need them. Lovely nature around you too!! A few tips for anyone thinking of going. (And you really should...) 1.The drive to the wagon is over a bit of rough ground... If you want secluded you gotta get there somehow! 2. 6 logs for the hot tub is just about right :) 3. Take some flip flops for when you get out of the hottub :) 3. Ensure you chat to the hosts. They are fabulous. :) We can't wait to return!!!

    Megan2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at the bluebell wagon and it was truly one of the most beautiful and relaxing places we have ever stayed in. Daniella and Marcus were great hosts and have put lots of thought into the set up, ensuring that each of their cabins has space and privacy. The hot tub is fantastic, I really enjoyed the ritual of lighting it and then sitting in it! We highly recommend and will be back.

    Ian2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic location and perfect for a quiet weekend away. Couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing weekend! The pictures definitely don’t do the cabin justice, it was completely secluded and I don’t think we saw another person our entire stay. Would definitely recommend exploring the farm and going for a long walk. We walked from the cabin to Llyn y Fan and back and although we may have got a little lost, it was completely worth it - the views were amazing! The hot tub was so relaxing and peaceful too and it was definitely needed after the hike! Would 100% recommend, thank you Daniella and Marcus :-)

  • We could of stayed forever. If you’re contemplating going just book it, I couldn’t imagine a single regret you might have. The location is stunning, and so private. Marcus encouraged us to wonder their land and that we did. A truly relaxing stay with my partner. We’ll be sure to return. Thanks Daniella and Marcus

Charming Old Roller Van fitted with bed, wood fire and basic cooking facilities, comes with private bathroom and wood fired hot tub. Situated in a stunning location, the perfect secret retreat for a long weekend or longer!
Nestled against a wood, away from it all beneath the red kites in the day and starlit skies at night the Gypsy Van rests quietly beside a wood, with views across the hills and no one else in sight. This authentic van is a very sweet nest, with a wooden deck and walkway connecting to a smaller hut which contains a good bathroom and loo and of course, the Hot Tub! Another wonderful place to find peace and solitude. Bookings can be made from Monday until Friday, or Friday until Monday (minimum three nights). This is a working farm with farm dogs, so we have a NO DOGS policy.
Our 450 acre farm is on the edge of the national park, near to Llyn y fan, the lake of legend. The walking country round here is fabulous. Our village has a vibrant bi-lingual community with post office, general store, pubs, post office and school. Aberglasney and the national botanic garden of Wales are nearby as are at least three ancient castles. A magic place.
  • A hidden gem in a glorious setting. It’s easy to get completely lost in the wonder of Mandinam Farm. The gypsy van was well equipped and surprisingly warm. It’s amazing what you can do with a wood burning stove and a gas hob. We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing few days in the Welsh countryside. Phone off, emails ignored, and just relax. I would recommend a walk to the top of the farm as the views of Brecon are breathtaking. Jumping into the hot tub, under the star filled sky, with a glass of wine, tops off the day perfectly. Couldn’t recommend enough! Diolch Daniella!

  • Beautiful place spent a very relaxing weekend here soaking up the surroundings and sounds of the farm, sitting in the hot tub under the stars.

    James2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, serene and peaceful are not strong enough adjectives for our experience. Birdsong and bleating sheep will put a smile on your face when you wake, the hot tub late at night and fresh air helps you to sleep long and heavy. Easy enough to walk into Llangadog for a few drinks or a meal. Otherwise, all the right amenities in the hut to prepare a nice meal. A very enjoyable and relaxing weekend

  • This place is amazing - stop looking and just book! My wife and I spent two nights during a lovely cold spell in April. The stunning views and seclusion blended with things like log fires and natural hot tub make for an ideal time for rest. The lack of things like TV literally go unnoticed when you have each other. On a practical note having a proper shower, toilet and gas stove meant it was completely stress free when you wanted. Hosts are lovely and will make you feel very comfortable

It's in a very peaceful spot but only a short, pleasant walk from the village with a shop and three pubs. There's plenty of beautiful countryside to explore nearby so it made a perfect base for exploring this delightful corner of Wales. A fantastic place to stay. I hope we have the chance to return!

  • Ann gave us a very warm welcome. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished and remains cozy without losing any tradition feeling. This cottage was amazing. There were very thoughtful touches and lots of treats left for us in the fridge. Good walking from the house and also a very lovely secure garden. Highly recommended.

Set on the edge of a glorious wood with majestic oaks, The Cabin, is far away from any other hut: It has a deck, a hot tub, a shower hut and solar powered electricity and of course a wood burning stove. Under the shade of the trees it is cool in summer, but can be quickly warmed up with a few logs on the stove. Quiet, romantic, away from it all. Look forward to seeing you.
Another lovely hut in a beautiful oak wood. Suitable for 2, the Cabin has a double bed, shower room, hot tub, solar power and wood-burning stove in a peaceful and romantic and very secluded location of it’s own. There is a small belfast sink, gas double burner and plates, cutlery etc. With only four huts set across 450 acres, each hut is very private and peaceful. This is a working farm so we don't allow dogs. Bookings can be made from Monday until Friday or from Friday until Monday (minimum three nights)
The farm is in one of the most beautiful, rural parts of South Wales with a unique feeling of space and peace. The village of Llangadog is two to three miles away, depending on which hut you are staying in. In the village there are three pubs, a general store, a post office and an excellent butcher. The main language in this area is Welsh, but all Welsh people are bi-lingual.
  • Daniella & Marcus were great hosts. This was our 2nd visit & we loved our relaxing 2 nights in the cabin. The hot tub was amazing. The town of Llandovery is nearby & has shops & pubs if you want to venture out. Highly recommended X

  • Stayed at this amazing cabin with my boyfriend to celebrate my 21st birthday. Had an absolutely incredible time. The hot tub is an incredible touch. Such lovely people. Will definitely return

  • What an amazing place! We had such a wonderful stay at Mandinam Farm. I brought my husband here as a surprise for his birthday, and we had just the best break away from it all. The accommodation is clean and cosy, and has everything you could need. The bathroom was fantastic as well, with hot water on demand. The farm is a great jumping off point for local villages and some beautiful walks. That being said, if you wanted to it would be absolutely lovely to just stay on the farm for your entire visit! I managed to pick the one weekend in the summer where the heavens opened, so we got very wet on some of the walks we did. What a pleasure then to get home and soak our muscles in the hot tub which is completely perfect for two. (The tub burner is very efficient, it’s easy to make it too hot, patience is key!) If you’re on the fence about booking, we would so recommend that you do. There are 5 places to stay at Mandinam as well, so if the dates you want aren’t available have a look for the other accommodation. An absolutely amazing place with wonderful hosts, thank you for a lovely stay!

  • Fantastic location, really enjoyed waking to silence in the woodland, just what was needed to get away from the hustle and bustle , Cant wait to return.

  • Beautifully secluded and peaceful, simple as expected (and desired) but well thought out

    Ben2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful surroundings, stunning cabin... We had an unforgettable weekend! Will definitely come again x

    Tess2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful bolt hole for a relaxing weekend away from it all. The cabin offers a perfect hide away and had everything we needed to cook, clean and relax! The hit tub is fantastic. Marcus made us feel really welcome.

    Matt2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy cabin in truly spectacular surroundings. The indoor wood burner kept the cabin toasty for hours and the wood-fired hot tub was amazing. It’s a great place to disconnect from modern technology and de-stress for a few days.

It was so clean and fresh, the decor inside was so homely and warming it had everything we needed and was only a 10 minute drive to the nearest co-op and village! The location was beautiful and calming and the caretaker Stephen was on call if we needed anything else! Couldn't recommend it enough, I would definitely visit again!

Gallt Yr Adar Fawr is a comfortable, spacious five bedroomed house, nestling in a beautiful valley flanked by trees and hills and overlooking its own lake. The farmhouse is a dedicated holiday home and is situated within our 200 acre farmland estate and offers its visitors a quiet, restful escape from hectic city life. Whether fishing in the lake or barbecuing on the terrace one can relax and observe the plentiful wildlife and fall into the embrace of this peaceful and tranquil location.
Gallt Yr Adar Fawr sleeps eight. The spacious lounge and large farmhouse Kitchen are well equipped with all that you will need to make you feel at home. At night, the location is near silent except for the odd owl hooting or the wind rustling in the trees, and the sky is properly dark except for the moon and stars - a perfect recipe for the townie needing a good nights sleep. In the Kitchen, you’ll find all the equipment you'll need for preparing anything from basic grub to an epicurean feast, supported by onlookers gathering at the large pine table with glasses in hand. We provide tea towels, dish cloths and cleaning products. Beyond the Kitchen is a Laundry Room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron with ironing board and a second fridge/freezer. Adjacent to the Laundry Room is a w.c. with a hand basin, and a back door leading to the rear of the house. The spacious Lounge has three leather sofas, the perfect place to relax around a log fire on those chilly winter evenings. Upstairs, the two large Double Bedrooms have kingsize beds, plenty of storage and hanging space, dressing tables and bedside tables with lamps. The Twin Bedroom has two 3' beds, a wardrobe, wicker chair, drawer space and bedside tables with lamps. The cosy Single Bedroom has a 3' bed, tallboy style wardrobe, dressing table with drawer space and bedside cabinet with a lamp. There is a large blue themed Bathroom with a bath, basin, WC, separate corner shower cubicle and heated towel rail. Adjacent to this is a second bathroom with a shower cubicle, basin and WC. The second Single Bedroom located on the ground floor has a 3' bed, wicker wardrobe, dressing table and bedside cabinet with a lamp. This is a light and airy room having a double aspect with views of the lake and the pony paddock. Enjoy a game of snooker on the quarter size, slate bed table in the Snooker Room while the kids amuse themselves with a choice of board and card games. Relax and enjoy the views from the garden furniture on the covered terrace, whilst supper is cooking on the barbecue. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish for the hobby fisherman and there is also a family of Canada Geese who return every year to breed through the spring and early summer. It's always lovely to see the geese and goslings but the downside is the droppings! We do our best to keep the garden area clear during this time. We are Martin and Karen and we welcome our guests with a complimentary hamper of tea, coffee and biscuits, and milk in the fridge. Our home is next door, so to speak, several hundred metres along a farm track and we host the cottage with the help of our co-host, Liz.
  • An amazing house in a stunning location. Remote enough to escape the world but close enough to the nearby town if required.

    Rob2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is an exceptionally beautiful location. You cannot be anything but in awe of the natural surroundings which encompass you. You are literally in your own tranquillity bubble with only the odd sheep in a neighbouring field and the sound of the dawn chorus should you wish to sit out on the terrace and enjoy at sunrise. Do not pack any kitchen equipment, this house has absolutely everything you could ever wish for to prepare a family meal, it is not like any other rental we have stayed in, it is as homely as if the owner just popped out. We stayed during Storm Dennis and didn't get to explore the surroundings as much as we would have liked, but the house lent itself perfectly to warm cosy family meals at the kitchen table and board games in front of the roaring fire, marvelling at the beauty of the lake and hills through the window and using the totally practical utility room to hang up sopping wet coats and make full use of the thoughtful dog towels!! Be sure to take all your food for the stay with you or pick up from a local shop on your way in, because once you arrive, you won't want to waste anytime going out!! We would recommend this house to anyone, we will be back again.

  • Wow...what a find!! This place is just wonderful - it was quiet, idyllic, peaceful and just what we needed. We stayed as a group of 4 adults and 6 kids (ranging in age from 1-9 years) and everyone LOVED their stay! A high chair, travel cot and stair gate were all provided as were many games we all enjoyed playing. The home was sparkling clean, the hosts were accommodating and friendly and everything we needed was there :) we can't wait to return in the summer - Thankyou!!

  • Beautiful place. Very quiet and secluded, which was just what we were looking for. We were pleased that we were left alone - but were able to contact the host whenever we needed to. The place was fully equipped and furnished to accommodate a family of 8 of us. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

  • As a family group the stays in cottages a couple of times a year - we love places that are sucluded, peaceful, quiet, clean, comfortable and great for our dogs. This place was everything and more. The beautiful pictures on here still doesn't do the scenery you have when you get there justice. The house had everything we wanted and needed. Couldnt ask for more. Thank you for having me and my family (8 adults). We would absolutely love to come back!

  • Such a lovely, cosy house. We instantly felt at home and it was so incredibly peaceful and quiet. Incredibly well appointed, had everything we needed and spotlessly clean. Fantastic kitchen and comfy living room meant none of us wanted to go home. Can't wait to stay again.

  • We were a party of six adults and two teenagers (bless the excellent wifi!) meeting up for a family reunion. House was amazing, even nicer than the photos. Really cosy and a fantastic kitchen which we used constantly. It is very remote so it is not the type of place where you can walk to a pub or restaurant. The host had told me in advance of the Co op in the next village so we were well organised. There was also a goody box on the table and milk left in the fridge. We spent time eating around the big kitchen table and everyone enjoyed the pool table and cupboard full of games. I liked sitting outside enjoying the view, which I could do even when it rained because of the covered verandah. It is a lovely house, which helped us to
