Three log cabins (Sleep 2 in each) TV in both. Wc / Washroom. One outdoor shower and a outdoor bath. Log burning Finnish Sauna. Treehouse sleps two persons. We also an out door bbq dining area.Magnificent views over the hills and down to the river. Only 1 mile from the famous Lake Vyrnwy and Dam.
  • If you like a quirky place to stay then you will love this. A series of wooden cabins and tree house, it is certainly not a conventional holiday let. But we loved it and will definitely come back again. Be aware this is a little like a mixture of normal b&b and camping. Stuart is a very friendly and helpful host and communication was very easy. A highlight for us was the bath with an unhindered view of the river (ie no wall or window....it just looks out over the river.) You may think this might be a bit drafty, but we loved it after our swim in the river on a wet day in March. The shower also does not have a roof, and there is a second bath that is completely outdoors. Fantastic!! Lots of hot water too. Shame we didnt find time for the sauna. The main bedroom cabins were warm and cosy and we had a comfortable nights sleep listening to the rain and the river. If you're looking for a holiday home with a difference, then this is the place for you. 😊

  • Great little place, pretty simple stay

  • The perfect way to get back to nature, no phones, just beautiful Welsh countryside.

  • Wonderful ... complete retreat away from everything ... you can’t help relax. Red hot outdoor bath was superb ... the log cabin was super cosy with an excellent nostalgic selection of VHS. Stuart gave us a lift to the dam due to weather conditions with excellent advice on the return walk home ... great hospitality and a must to ‘get away from it all’.

  • My partner and I drove for 6 hours to reach Stuarts place for a one night stay, but it was worth every minute of the drive. Following Stuarts direction to the property made finding the accomodation a breeze. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of Pinot, pleasant conversation, followed by a tour of the grounds. We unfortunately arrived during storm Dennis, so as expected the pathways were very muddy and slippery, but this did not spoil our experience, the cabins have stunning views of the river that runs through Stuarts land, it has to be seen to be believed. We stayed in the main cabin, it is far from a shed but a properly built log cabin that kept us dry and warm! The whole place is very cute and cosy. The kitchen was well supplied with plates and cooking accessories and the bedroom has a small TV with a big choice of VHS to choose from Bathing outside in the storm is an experience I will never forget, and bathing in the skypod in the morning with the river running directly in front of you is simply amazing. Stuarts house is closer than it appears in photos, however it is downhill of the cabins offering privacy. When we checked out we were kindly offered a cup of tea which we turned down as we had a long drive ahead, however Stuart made a point of insisting we visit the Lake and Dam, and we are thrilled he did so, as this was simply stunning. We can't wait to experience Stuarts property again in the warmer and dryer weather!.

  • Had a brilliant time away at Stuarts place! Definitely recommend this to my friends and family, beautiful place with the most beautiful surroundings, would come back again in a heart beat! Great time, and super host!

  • Stuart's cabins were a perfect rustic place to get away from the city. He was a great host, making a fire for us and providing excellent local tips! It was nice to have a taste of outdoors on our visit to Whales.

    Michelle2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart is a very attentive, friendly and helpful host. The place is set in a beautiful location. The cabins are warm and comfortable. The outdoor bath was an amazing experience. It is a wonderful place for those who love outdoor living, perfect balance between rustic and comfortable. Highly recommend. Thank you!

  • Beth's cottage is very comfortable, spacious, clean and quiet. It was a real pleasure spending time here and exploring the area around Lake Vyrnwy. The house is very big and will comfortably fit 6 people but I had the luxury of having it all to myself! Finding the cottage was a little difficult in the dark as the satnav took me down the wrong lane. Driving from the direction of Lake Vyrnway along B4393, the turn to the cottage is on the left marked by a sign with a sheep on a post saying B&B. The cottage is right at the end of the lane attached to the main farmhouse. If staying there for a few days, come equipped with food supplies. There are shops nearby but if you like to have very specific items, there is not a huge range in the nearby shops.

  • Great property. I was lucky enough to be the only guest during my stay so I had sole access to the shared lounge. Breakfast was amazing Bed was amazing Shower room was great. Only thing I found is I was taller than the shower. But that is my fault for being so tall. Location amazing Host amazing (& Beth’s daughter was very helpful when I arrived on the first night) Value for money more than amazing Given the chance I would stay again. I highly recommend the place to anyone looking for a short break and wanting to explore north wales. I used my holiday to climb Snowdon and so was very greatful for a warm comfy bed and not a sleeping bag in a field. 10/10

  • Bethan is a wonderful host. Nothing is too much trouble, and the breakfast was varied and beautifully cooked. The house is incredible, spotlessly clean and spacious. Very highly recommended.

  • A quiet, peaceful spot near a beautiful lake. Excellent facilities in the B and B and the most marvellously comfortable double bed! Also a brilliant breakfast. We would highly recommend Bethan's place!

    Walter2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The room and en suite were very comfortable, and Bethan provided a number of items in a small fridge ( milk, wine and beer) which were very welcome on arrival. I couldn't find the property on Google maps but the photo of the sign on the main road was useful in locating the property. Some more precise directions to visitors would help. Overall a very comfortable and enjoyable stay

  • We had a lovely few days at Toby's cottage situated right next to a stunning dam and lake. The views were incredible and the cottage was a lovely warm place to return in the evenings. Ideal spot for cycling and hiking. We also visited the steam railway at Blaenau Ffestiniog which the kids loved.

  • Toby was a great host, fast responses and friendly. Check in was easy and meant we didn’t have to carry a key around all the time. The house is very spacious and housed 6 of us very comfortably. We explored the lake nearby and it was a cold and sometimes wet weekend so was nice to comeback to a heated house and a wood burner. Everyone enjoyed the stay and said if we come back to the lake we would definitely stay again!

Elvish is spoken here… The Treehouse is tucked away at the top of the garden, a quirky little hideaway for a couple. It has its own parking space a few yards away. Inside, on the left, is a coat rail, then up 3 steps you find yourself in the bedroom, with double bed and wardrobe behind the curtain – this however also has a mattress so the space can be used for a child’s bed (just 4ft long). it is NOT suitable for a crawling baby or inquisitive toddler. There is also an extra hanger for long clothes – generally used for evening/wedding wear, plus under-bed storage. The Treehouse is heated very well by a Dimplex radiator, and in the wet room, an infrared wall heater. There is also a stone hot water bottle if one wishes to revisit the past. The tiny kitchen has a 2-gas hob, microwave, Dualit small oven, fridge, single sink and draining board, and cupboards below with appropriate cookware and crockery. Drawer above for cutlery, and hanging rack containing batterie de cuisine – scissors, tongs, whisk, spatula etc. etc. The dining area has a table for 2, whilst down 2 steps is the wet room, with shower, washbasin and toilet. The back door opens out to a little patio, known as the “rust garden” with its collection of sculptures created from the agricultural throw-outs lovingly collected or dug up from the surrounding fields, reminders of when Foel Ortho was a working farm. A garden table and 2 folding chairs get the afternoon sunshine, or one can sit on the bench in the covered area and admire the pouring rain!
You can do all these activities locally: Walk, Mountain Bike, Road Bike, Climb, Sail, Open water swim, Orienteering, Fish, Horse Ride, Ride On Steam Trains, Canoe, Row, Bird Watch, White Water Raft, Surf, High Wire Adventure, Zip Line, Raft Build, Gorge Walk, Kayak, Abseil, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Archery, Golf, Health Spa, Game Shooting, Race Hovercrafts, Race 4 x 4, Quad Bike, Go Karting, Roller Coaster, Shop. After a day of adventures there are some great pubs and restaurants in the local area to recharge. Search Farmhouseinwales for all details.
  • If your like you privacy and a break from the huddle and bustle look no further! Unique setting in the middle of the valley, I mean a Tree House... where can you find that sort of accommodation anywhere ?! Wonderfully warm and cosey inside had great night’s sleep and a fantastic stay all together. Kind regards E & S

    Eno2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was a fantastic place for a weekend getaway, and the suprise snow halfway through our stay made it feel magical. The bed was very comfortable and the space was just big enough for two people to comfortably 'live' In. The only 2 things I would like to mention, is that the bathroom was extremely cold. The shower temperature was lovely, but outside of that, it was very chilly any time you went in there (fluffy socks advised!). The second is that we were told there was WiFi there, but that it may run out with excessive use. When we arrived, it seemed that whoever had stayed before us had already used up all of the internet, and although this wasn't a big issue for us as we weren't planning on using the WiFi, it meant that we couldn't contact the hosts (or anyone) in an emergency, as there was also no 4G or phone service. Other than that, we had a lovely time and really recommend the treehouse If you're looking for a cosy break from a busy life.

  • The perfect little hideaway for a weekend in Wales. Had everything we needed, and was a warm and cosy place to hide from Storm Dennis! Would recommend to everyone and will definitely return in the future.

  • I loved staying at Jenny and Eddie's Treehouse, they are the loveliest couple and seriously hospitable and wonderful people. The space is a fantastic, fantastical achievement and a wonderful creative wonderland. The Treehouse suited me perfectly, but it was a little cold. It is rustic, which I loved, but may not suit those wanting pristine or modern comforts. It is otherwordly and very clever, the way the space is used is genius. It had everything I needed including a very comfy bed and wondrous view! The magic is REAL! Thank you.

Sunny, cedar clad , semi-detached house in small village near to the very scenic Lake Vyrnwy. With exceptional views and three good sized gardens, this house is ideally located for either families, two couples, walkers , cyclists and/or birdwatchers. Local amenities include a friendly shop nearby, an activity centre half a mile away and all that the wonderful Lake Vyrnwy hotel has to offer. The house is very warm, cosily rustic but comfortable.
Log burner with plenty of wood. Modern, easy to use, Rayburn cooker. Hard floors with rugs. Small games room with table football and various activities.
Just half a mile from Lake Vyrnwy where there are a range of activities including water sports and cycling. It is an RSPB nature reserve with amazing birds and three hides. Classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty, it has many good walks, two good cafes and small local arts and crafts shops.
  • This is a perfect spot for a getaway with great access to lovely walking paths, a gorgeous lake just down the road, and a well equipped home for a relaxing stay. We loved staying here as two couples with our dogs. Claire was super communicative and sent really helpful information and Lynda even popped by to welcome us on our first evening there to see that we'd settled in ok. The house was nicer than the photos showed - the cute sitting room and lovely fireplace hosted our boardgaming and the kitchen with the amazing Rayburn made for some tasty meals. We loved how dog-friendly the whole set up was and the enclosed garden meant our golden retriever and Newfoundland could play happily and safely. There were lots of thoughtful touches like a little welcome basket and note and the fire was already set up for us!! The guide book Claire has written helped acquaint us to the area and the recommended walks were lovely. Would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back another time soon.

  • This is the most amazing, perfect cottage in Wales for relaxation. The cottage is clean, fresh and cosy and has loads of little quirks. Came up for the weekend for a lads weekend of cycling round Snowdonia. Claire has set the standard and it’s so good we are planning a few trips next year. When we entered the property there was a lovely note from Lynda who looks after the place. Lynda is wicked, very helpful. We only stayed for 2 nights but wished we could’ve stay for a week. Its in a quiet location. Claire was very quick to respond to emails. Don’t hesitate just book the cottage and you won’t regret it.

  • The house is in a beautiful location close to the beautiful Lake Vyrnwy with plenty of walks nearby and is lovely and cosy with lots of garden space and a fireplace perfect for chilly evenings. Claire and Lynda were so friendly and helpful, making for an amazing stay - thank you!

    Maria2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two fabulous weeks in the lovely retreat of Claire and enjoyed every day. Unfortunately we didn’t have the chance to meet her personally but her lovely friend Lynda was available any time and very helpful. The house is well equipped and the location is perfect for nearby trips to Lake Vyrnwy but also for day trips to Snowdonia, the Welsh Coast and even Liverpool. Thank you for hosting us - would love to come again!

  • What an absolute gem of a place! Had a wonderful Christmas stay at the chalet. It was lovely to see a fully decorated tree and have a delicious basket of goodies awaiting our arrival. Thank you very much. The chalet is spacious, sparkling clean and with exquisite touches of decor, fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds and a very welcome gas burner that kept us cosy in the evenings. Jane was very knowledgeable about the local area and gave some great ideas for walks for all ages and all levels of fitness. Really recommend the Precipice walk and Cadair Idris. Thank you once again for a great stay.

This is a twin room in the main part of the house. The bathroom is shared by the one family member and guests. The house dates back to the 13th century and has retained many of its original features such as a massive ingle nook fire place and beams. Outside there are many animals ,horses, geese, hens, ducks and a Llama. All of which are very friendly. Inside the house there are dogs and cat. Visitors may bring there own dogs. Stable and grazing is also available.
This is a very charming room set in the main part of the house. The doorway is quite quirky joining the bedroom to the stairs landing and the family bathroom.
This is a rural farming area mainly used for grazing sheep and cattle, Views and air quality are fantastic. Plenty of walking and horse riding locally
  • Catherine is a great host with a lovely home, made even better by the presence of many pets. I will be staying again should I be in the area.

The cottage is in the little village of Llangynog near Snowdonia. It’s easy to reach from England and offers great access to the mountains and countryside of north Wales with an easy and scenic drive to Snowdon. The village has two pubs, both just a minute away from the cottage. There are great walks and cycling around Llangynog which is also well known as being the home of Revolution Bike Park. Revs is only minutes away from the cottage by bike and you can see the park from the cottage.
There is a king size bed in the upstairs bedroom and a large bathroom with bath, shower and washing machine. In the living room there is a sofa bed that converts easily into a king size double bed. A downstairs toilet means those sleeping downstairs have easy access to facilities at night time. The fridge in the kitchen is quite small and there is no freezer so please take care with what shopping you bring. There is a Smart TV (but no Sky TV) and a range of books and DVDs available. Secure mountain bike storage can be available on request.
The area is sometimes referred to as the Welsh lake district as there are several lakes as you make your way into Wales. For mountain bikers, in addition to Revs, Antur Stiniog and Coed y Brenin are both in easy reach by car.
  • Extremely comfortable

    Lisa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning location and the cottage was spot on. Very clean and welcoming. I will definitely be returning soon

    Jonny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need is supplied in the cottage. We loved the log burner in the evenings and the very well equipped kitchen. You can go walking straight out of the front door without having to drive and have a welcome drink on return in the pub directly across the road.

    Jan2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • A well-furnished, spotlessly clean, very comfortable cottage in a great location. Cold when we arrived but the wood-burning stove and heaters soon warmed it and it was lovely and cosy. We'd come again.

    Debashis2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a lovely cosy cottage with gorgeous views. It’s a lovely base to cook a good meal and relax in-front of the wood burner after a days walking. This is our second stay and we’ll definitely be back.

    Rebecca2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • lovely little cottage, well presented and equipped with everything you need for your stay, lovely little touches too. plenty of books and DVDs if you want to stay in, large screen TV, WiFi was not the best but perfectly adequate for what we needed. We were informed before we went that there was no freezer but the small fridge has a tiny little freezer compartment which is ok for doing a few ice cubes etc. Very helpful "house Manual" supplied and accurate and helpful instructions. We enjoyed our short stay and would be happy to come back in the summer for a longer stay.

We believe that our Shepherd's Hut is something really special, located at the Wonderful Wilderness - a spot idyllically positioned between a beautiful forest and acres of farmland. Accessed only by a 4 mile narrow winding road though countryside, the views are unspoilt and simply stunning in every direction. This amazing place is within easy reach of Snowdonia National Park, Lake Vyrnwy, the stunning Barnmouth Beach, Powis Castle, many gorgeous little steam trains and much, much more.
This is our amazing shepherds hut situated in it's own field in the Wonderful Wilderness. If you fancy something different from the norm, but enjoy your comforts, our gorgeous hut is perfect. It sleeps up to 4 people with one double bed and 2 small single beds in a bunk bed style. With plump pillows, duvets and soft bedding provided, you are sure to have a warm and comfortable sleep. The pretty kitchen if filled with all the essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar and milk, juice, butter, jam, eggs, fruit supplied in a cool box, and choice of cereals. You will also have a freshly baked loaf of bread delivered to your door each morning! Either cook inside or outside on the 2 hob camping stove, or, if you are keen on testing your survival skills a little, bring your gear and cook on a campfire in the garden area. For your convenience and to avoid any midnight dashes through the field to a toilet, on-board inside the hut is a cute little cloakroom. Outside you will find a lovely warm shower with shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. There is also a seating area to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining, or to just sit and relax with a drink and take in the amazing views whilst listening to the river bubbling past. Wonderful!
This is a very quiet place in the Wonderful Wilderness of Wales! We have no close neighbours - apart from Sheep and the stunning wildlife.
  • Great place to stay but what truly set it apart was how accommodating and friendly the host was.

    Seski2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely location and a wonderful hut. Carly is very thoughtful and makes sure you have everything you need for your stay, it's a gorgeous valley and waking up to the sight of a flock of sheep is an added bonus! Would highly recommend staying here.

    Olly2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to get away from everything! The shepherd’s hut is clean and cosy and Carly is the perfect host, from bringing fresh bread every morning to topping up our water, milk, butter and firewood. She even cleaned the hut mid stay, which I did not expect in the slightest, and lit the Woodburner so it would be warm when we got back! I can’t recommend this enough, it is quirky and fun but clean and comfy. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend the hut or camping in this idyllic spot.

    Christy2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a place to stay!! We arrived on a wet dark evening but Carly took the time to answer my calls as I got worried about the trip to the farm. The hut itself is delightful, and the views and scenery are perfect. As other people have mentioned, take a headtorch. If you are visiting in colder weather I would also recommend slippers as space is too small and tidy to bring in muddy shoes in but the floor stays quite cold even when the fire is on. Otherwise a pretty perfect place to stay

    Helen2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place. The hut is cosy, well thought out with lots of really nice little touches. Listening to the stream next to the hut all night was incredible. The perfect place for a get away, the fresh bread and breakfast was great, it’s just a shame we couldn’t stay longer!

    Matt2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherd’s is beyond beautiful, it’s cozy and well nestled in a corner by the stream surrounded by views of the woods, the mountains and the fields... there is absolute privacy in the location and Carly just popped over with lovely warm home made bread each morning. The open skies give brilliant views for star gazing and we were lucky with good weather the first night we stayed and enjoyed the brilliance of the Milky Way beside a campfire .. the sounds of the streams running by is so relaxing and the curious sheep running across add to the beauty of the whole place giving you that break from city life . Absolutely loved everything will definitely be back 😇

    Preetha2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely shepherds hut in a stunning location. Carly was really helpful and easy to get in touch with. The hut is beautifully done with everything you might need, and a lovely hot shower too. Great stay!

    Emma2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • I honestly cannot recommend this place and Carly enough. Our little family of 3 stayed for 3 nights and we didn't want to leave! From the fresh bread hand-delivered every morning to the sound of the river lulling us to sleep each night - it was all perfect. We were able to completely relax with a campfire outside or snuggle up in the stunning shepherds hut, complete with wood burner for warming chilly toes after an adventure. We were also perfectly placed to visit King Arthur's Labyrinth and Powis Castle, 2 fab tourist attractions. I can't thank Carly enough for the whole experience. The hut is an absolute gem of a little place to stay and she is an amazing host. We would definitely book again!

  • Wow!! What an absolutely amazing stay we had. The welcome basket was wonderful; we really loved the home made touches and the Prosecco for New Year was really appreciated and a great surprise. The location and the hot tub were superb, as well as the cute cottage we stayed in; super warm and cosy with everything you need. The little on-site shop along with some of the BEST eggs I've ever eaten, all of the lovely animals and the very cheeky cats, mean that we are excited to plan our next visit. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxed stay and we very much look forward to visiting again in the near future.

    Samantha2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Expect the most amazing stay even in the rain like we had! The cottages are lovely inside which is made better with the home made goods and fresh eggs left in a little basket on your arrival. We were celebrating a special occasion and the hosts were amazing in making it special for us! We also took advantage of the hot tub and sauna which was definitely worth it as the views when your in it are stunning! It is also a short drive to Lake Vyrnwy which you should definitely go and explore, even just driving round it us beautiful and you should definitely do the green trail which leads to the most beautiful waterfall I've seen. The farm also had goats, piglets, sheep, horses and chickens, turkeys and cats roaming around and greeting you at your door which was lovely in the morning. All in all me and my partner had an amazing time and the host were amazing in communicating and being there if you needed anything. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get away from the hussle and bussle of city life.

    Alyssa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cottage getaway. Teresa and Matt always responded quickly to messages and we were greeted on our arrival to some home baked scones and bread which was a thoughtful touch. Amazing views around the farm and even more enjoyable from the hot tub. We would happily return to Cyfie farm!

    Laura2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is perfect for 2 people. Lovely and cosy with the fire on! We loved the homemade bread and eggs fresh from the farm. We’d hired the hot tub for the evening which is a must, and we didn’t realise there was a sauna too. Perfectly private and very quiet location, just what we needed to switch off from the city.

    Gillian2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wheat Cottage is a beautifully styled and cosy place to stay for a couple or a small family. The large bed was very comfortable for my fiance and I, and the shower had a pretty decent flow of hot water - very important during the chilly season we visited. We were charmed by the cats and other farm animals we met there, and totally recommend that you try to wake early to see if you can catch the sunrise that comes out behind the lovely flower garden. The kitchen was adequately equipped and we cooked breakfast with the pretty farm eggs and bread provided by Teresa. Would suggest shopping for groceries before you make your way up to the farm.

    Steffi2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa and Matt and family were perfect. I came to stay with my partner for a couple of days. Their place is just amazing, I was constantly impressed by what we discovered, they really have thought of everything. It is so cosy, clean and tidy and the most beautiful surroundings you can imagine. The bread and eggs from their farm was some of the best I have ever tasted. You must indulge in the hot tub experience, this was a real treat to have! One of our other favourite highlights was playing with their cat Scampi, who always waited outside for us to come out and spend time with him! 5 stars all round, you really must come stay here! blessings Nick (AirBnB Superhost in Liverpool)

We live in a 1750s stone and oak farmhouse in the Tanat Valley. Lake Vyrnwy, Rhaeadr Waterfall & Revolution Bikes are local attractions. We have a double bedroom for B&B, with en-suite. Non-couples - if you prefer not to share a double bed, you can stay in two bedrooms. A couple with children can negotiate any extra cost. Homemade bread and our own eggs for breakfast.
Peaceful rural Wales, yet easy to get to from the English motorways.
Great for walking and visiting, for example Lake Vyrnwy and Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall. The Revolution downhill bike course is in the next village for those of an energetic nature - you can cycle to it over the mountain! There are local pubs for evening meals, but they usually stop serving at 20:00, eg Railway Inn, Penybontfawr 01691 860447; The New Inn, Llangynog 01691 860299
  • Our stay at Patrick & Sheila's was amazing. Even before I get started with the stay experience I must say their warmth & hospitality is unmatched. It is home away from home. They took care of us as one of their own. We amateur tourists decided to visit storm hit Wales over our extended weekend without an umbrella or rain layering. They tried helping us the best they could be it finding the right size of wellies or fetching an umbrella. They went extra mile looking up for places to visit so that our trip does not get doomed with the gloomy wet weather. Must say their house is lovely, exactly what you need away from hustle bustle of the city. Sparkling clean & tastefully decorated. The homemade bread & bred eggs was icing on the cake. Well situated between the town & Vrynwy river. Easy to locate usign Google maps. A must stay for an amazing vacation. Nothing beats the serenity of the green lush hills with sheep.

  • This is a beautiful house in Wales with every comfort you need. This would be my first choice on returning to this area. Lovely comfy bed/bedding, it’s quiet and peaceful and beautifully traditional. Sheila provides a really nice breakfast of eggs and home made bread/jams and she’s just so lovely as well. Highly recommended

  • Sheila and Patrick were so kind and helpful in every way. We felt really at home in their gorgeous farmhouse. I loved the farmhouse and the way they have made it into such a welcoming warm place to stay. Our room was perfect with wonderful views over the garden and valley. The breakfast was delicious and Sheila makes her own bread and the eggs are from her hens....The location is quiet and peaceful. It is very near lake Vyrnwy, which is a very special place, If anyone needs a special farmhouse to stay in please go and stay here . We will return to see them again. Thank you both for the friendly restful stay in your lovely home. We will return. Take care. Joan and Nigel

  • A secluded getaway with access to great walking country and Lake Vyrnwy. Teresa and family were great hosts, with fresh eggs, home made bread and cake in the kitchen on arrival. The hot tub was fantastic for easing the walking aches and the sauna was great too. Sheep Dip cottage was beautifully warm and cosy despite rather chilly weather- so we never needed to light the wood burner (but there were plenty of logs and it was ready to light if needed). Spring is late this year, but it was clear to see that the gardens are going to be lovely later in the year with seats and summer houses to take a cool glass of something and admire the fantastic views. Overall a perfect relaxing 2 night break- thank you Teresa and family for all your hospitality

  • Had an amazing weekend at Cyfie Farm. We stayed in Shepard’s watch self catering cottage, which is a perfect size for 4 people. Farm itself is peaceful and relaxing and there were eggs and fresh farm bread on our arrival. Close access to lake Vyrnwy, where we went canoeing and the mountains in south snowdonia are about a 30min drive. Would recommend and will certainly be back.

Accommodation for 10 in a stunning mountain setting – all amid a Spanish village inspired by Portmeirion! Enjoy some of the best bike trails & walks in Wales or just take it easy! Sleeps 10 in the Barn Hall Dormitory. Barn Hall is a large space with a real fire & tables & chairs. Usually used as overflow accommodation from Foel Ortho Bunkhouse (no kitchen yet). Same site: Bunkhouse, sleeps 8 (max 12) Farmhouse, sleeps 15 (max 17) Treehouse, sleeps 2 Search Farmhouseinwales for more details.
Medieval Barn Hall – taken down from a nearby village 25 years ago, it was re-erected by keen friends and relatives, and then acquired a woodburning stove; it started to take on a real character with the addition of stained glass windows from Westminster Abbey – some of the ones which had been put in as temporary replacements in case any of Hitler’s bombs should destroy the original, irreplaceable ones. The High Barn Dormitory and Shower Room – sleeps 10. Situated above the Pueblo, the Dormitory has 3 sleeping shelves with very good new mattresses (with a possible further 6 folding beds in the Barn Hall by special arrangement). A small staircase leads to the Shower Room, with 2 shower cubicles 2 washbasins and 2 w.c.’s. Please check back regularly, as in time, there will be a kitchen as well. Guests currently bring their own sleeping bags and favorite pillow, we do not provide bedding.
You can do all these activities locally: Revolution Bike Park, Walk, Mountain Bike, Road Bike, Climb, Sail, Open water swim, Orienteering, Fish, Horse Ride, Ride On Steam Trains, Canoe, Row, Bird Watch, White Water Raft, Surf, High Wire Adventure, Zip Line, Raft Build, Gorge Walk, Kayak, Abseil, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Archery, Golf, Health Spa, Game Shooting, Race Hovercrafts, Race 4 x 4, Quad Bike, Go Karting, Roller Coaster, Shop. After a day of adventures there are some great pubs and restaurants in the local area to recharge. Search Farmhouseinwales for all details.
  • The Barn Hall is the most magical and enchanting place I have ever stayed. It is rustic and ramshackle, intriguing and tantalising. The views from the mock-mediaeval turrets are gorgeous, and wandering around all the little nooks, crannies and hidey-holes will keep you fascinated for hours. We found it very comfortable, with a great wood-burning stove to keep you warm, and plenty of space to unwind. It is important to understand that this place is not luxurious or child safe in any way. It suits people who like camping, exploring, adventure, fantasy and a break from normal life, but will not suit people who are dependant on modern conveniences. We adore it and we’ll be back for more.....

  • Beautiful house in the peaceful village of Dolanog, with parking outside. Everywhere was spotless and great views from the bedroom over Kerry and Jonathan’s lovely garden. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom across the hall had fluffy towels, complementary toiletries, and a great shower. Kerry was an excellent host - helpful without being intrusive. The breakfast was great. An array of cereals, juices, and fresh fruit salad were laid on the side, and this was followed by toast and a full cooked breakfast. NB cooked breakfast is only supplied at weekends. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return if we come for the Llanwddyn Folk Festival again next year. Thoroughly recommend this AirBnB ~ many thanks Kerry and Jonathan !! . .

  • A beautiful location hidden in Wales! Kerry and her partner were excellent hosts, patiently guiding us to the right location when we initially ended up in the wrong village! Super comfy beds, excellent views and a cracking breakfast. A great place to stop by on your tour of Wales.

  • Couldn't recommend it more- dont miss it!! A wonderful stay with a very welcome warm hospitality! Definitely would stay again! Beautifully decorated house in a very peaceful nice location in the mid Wales with many things to do around including Snowdonia National Park, waterfalls and hiking trails. The house is beautiful and has everything you could possibly want and need. Kerry and Jonathan were very helpful to suggest us some nice choices for dinner and any other information how to get around the area. We had a fantastic full English breakfast - which was nothing less that in 5 star hotels - in a lovely gallery overlooking garden. Everything was perfect about this gateway!!! Thanks to both of you to make it so lovely!

Self catering Bunkhouse Nr Lake Vyrnwy. Amazing mountain biking, cycling, walks, canoeing & so much more. Sleeps 8 (max 12) in a stunning mountain setting. Bunkhouse, Barn Hall, Farmhouse, Treehouse & Spa can be booked together or separately. At the head of the Tanat valley, in that charming but little known stretch of mid-Wales lying between historic Offa’s Dyke and the rugged magnificence of Snowdonia, stands the ancient farmhouse of Foel Ortho set in stunningly beautiful countryside.
Inside the Bunkhouse Warm & cozy bunkhouse in the mountains. Great drying room, 4 comfy bunk beds downstairs, DVD, music player & well equipped modern kitchen, 2 big showers, 2 loos, sleeps 8 (max 12). Please see photos and info for exact spec before booking – we aim to please! After washing the mud off your boots………..come into the Bunkhouse. It was built probably in the 17th century as an outhouse to Foelortho farm and has been used for the last forty years as a log and timber store and overflow dormitory for visitors who were prepared to rough it. Now reinforced with stronger walls and a slate roof it’s been magically transformed into self contained, self catering Bunkhouse accommodation ideal for groups of walkers, cyclists, canoeists, bird watchers, scouts, guides, photographers, painters, musicians…………… Everything is in place for welcoming home an intrepid group of hungry adventurers, wet and exhausted from some demanding outdoor pursuit. There’s a place for rucksacks, a cosy drying room (eqipped with a radiator, de-humidifier, and extractor fan) for sopping wet cagouls and footwear. The wet room’s warm and snug with two connected showers and a washbasin. There are two separate toilets with wash basins. The Combi boiler gives you all the hot water you could possibly want, and also powers five radiators. Even with snow and ice outside, this little home in the hills is as warm as toast – truly a ‘bunkhouse heaven’. Upstairs, is a modern fitted kitchen / dining area. There is also 4 mattresses – with a further 4 more if you are an extremely close group! The dining table’s a great place for friendly, relaxed conversation, serving also as a place for poring over maps while planning tomorrow’s adventure, as a card table or merely as a prop for your elbows while you have a laugh and a chat. In this relaxed atmosphere and with such comfy mattresses laid out on the carpet, you won’t be talking too far into the night. Please ensure to bring your favorite pillow and sleeping bag or sheet & duvet for the best night’s sleep possible! We provide the mattress protector. All beds have hypoallergenic mattresses with a protector and top sheet. You bring your own sleeping bag and favourite pillow. The Bunkhouse has 4 single beds downstairs and 4 folding beds upstairs (with a further 4 more mattresses upstairs that can be arranged to suit your own group needs). Please look at the photos to check it meets your requirements. The Bunkhouse sleeps 8 and a maximum of 12 if you are a close knit bunch or plan to spend most of your day out on the mountains. There are two toilets; so many groups split the top and the bottom for boys and girls / friendship groups etc. Please be advised that the bunkhouse is perfectly suited to people who have their activities planned, and use the bunkhouse as a comfy, warm place to sleep, shower and eat. Small children, especially in bad weather, would perhaps find the space not sufficient to spread out and play games etc.
Outside the Bunkhouse Stunning fifteen mile panorama from the doorstep, bike or walk in the quiet mountains with buzzards high above. Or pop down to the friendly village shop & pub. There’s much to see when you step out of the Bunkhouse. Firstly the stunning views all round – the twin Berwyn mountain peaks of Mynydd Mawr and Gyrn Moelfre framed between the rolling sides of the Nant y Brithyll valley, and behind you, Foel Knoll, down from whose summit, some 500 years ago, the granite and stone would have been sledged down to build the Farmhouse and Bunkhouse. Leading from the Bunkhouse a concealed, winding staircase entices you up to The Follies, the much filmed, photographed and adored fantasy world of colour, shape and sound created over the last forty years by jazz trumpeter Eddie Matthews – surely the ultimate escape from all known stresses and strains. What better place to ease the mind and body after a day of intrepid team building on some remote mountain top or of hurtling down precipitous forest tracks or scanning the wilderness all day in pursuit of that elusive Red Kite. You may well get a wave from any car that passes you and maybe an offer of a lift. Happily, city ways have not yet reached these parts. The same friendliness is to be found in The Railway Inn where, over a pint of local ale or a local steak you soon lose any sense of time, urgency or stress. Take a five minute drive west to Llangynog, noting on your right the ‘hanging valley’ left perched above the retreating mass of a glacier during the last Ice Age. Dwarfed by towering masses of granite and slate this village was, in the 18th and 19th centuries, Europe’s largest lead mining area. The extension to Llangynog of the Tanat Valley Railway (2) in 1904 was unable to arrest its gradual decline. High above the disused quarries there still remain many traces of Craig Rhiwarth, the large Celtic Hill Fort from which, until his eventual defeat by Scapula, Caratacus (Caradoc) King of the Ordovices launched successful resistance to Roman occupation. A few miles to the west of Llangynog, hidden away at the head of a valley stands the Shrine Church of St. Melangell (3), a tranquil, spiritual place to which anyone seeking peace of mind should pay a visit, as pilgrims have done for many hundreds of years.

  • Fantastic venue for a wintery birthday weekend with friends and their little ones. Jane was super-helpful before we arrived and even more so during our stay- an awesome host! She pointed us in the direction of an amazing organic rare-breed pig small-holding- highly recommended if you like meaty things. The house is huge and can accommodate big groups. The kitchen is really well-equipped for cooking big meals. There's loads to do around the house- lots of books, games and musical instruments. All the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The surrounding area is stunning- lots of nice walks and impressive views. Go ahead and book- you won't regret it!

  • It’s been a week now since our stay. A group of us booked the house for my 40th. I had the idea that we go ‘off grid’ and party like it was 1999!! The house, the location and everything about our stay was perfect. The amenities at the house allowed us to cook up a storm, drink lots of beer, dance around, play our instruments, play board games, sleep soundly, and, most of all, leave our phones/devices behind and actually communicate with each other. A lack of google meant that people had to engage their brains (or make it up!!) Jane and her daughter Martha, our exceptional hosts, also suggest we visit the local waterfall. The perfect tonic to stretch our legs, clear our heads, take in the beautiful scenery, then return to the house, load up the log burners, and start all over again! It allowed us all to connect, it really was amazing. We’ve all been talking about it since. If you want to stay in a beautiful home, in a stunning location and just zone out from the world with friends and family...give Jane a shout.

  • We had a fantastic short break celebrating a 40th birthday, there is plenty of space. The lake near by is great for canoeing :)

  • We had a brilliant long weekend here - the scenery is incredible!

  • Jane's house was a real gem tucked away up a welsh valley, completely off-grid! We were a large group celebrating a friend's birthday and the place was much bigger than we expected. The house's location close to the lake is absolutely beautiful, whilst we were also able to have a real celebration as there are no neighbours nearby. We would highly recommend this property. -Ciaran

  • Jane is a real gem and anyone would be so lucky to have the pleasure to meet her stay at her beautiful house

  • Our stay was outstanding! It was so wonderful to be without WiFi (as described) and really connect with our surroundings and each other. Lake Vyrnwy is absolutely beautiful and it was great to enjoy it both from a paddle board on the water and also from the luxury of the bar balcony overlooking the lake from the nearby hotel! Eunant is vast with plenty of space for everyone to either socialise together or do their own thing without feeling crowded. The chickens outside are lovely to watch in the morning! Thank you

Lovely dogs and cats around the house - but Cathy kindly kept them away from the dining area when we had our breakfast. Big and hearty breakfast!! Set us up for the day. Would love to come back again.

  • Lovely clean and comfy room. Great location.

  • A charming old farm house in a secluded location with a great breakfast .

    Phil2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • From start to end this stay was wonderful. Communication prompt, efficient, friendly and helpful. Accommodation stylish, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, great nights sleep, lovely shower, log burner, tranquil, very spacious lounge, dining area, Bethan and Peter have it so on point a true home from home experience. Breakfast with the option of ordering an evening meal...do it evening meal with pudding all home cooked, mega tasty and very yum. Breakfast not much to say other that 'breakfast of kings'!! (I out some photos on my @merseyview instagram as well as lots on what's available locally the pictures don't do it justice). Venue...its a working farm so what's not to love, it's lambing season and I asked permission to see the lambs, which I was able to see some gorgeous lambs in a feeding pen. I always ask if I can wander as its a farm and stagers can make the animals skittish, please ask out of courtesy. Pete and Bethan go above and beyond to make it a memorable stay. I actually felt like I had a full on holiday and believe me I saw lots whilst on my whistle stop stay, usually exhausted by the end nope brings a whole new meaning to the Welsh Revival. Its so beautiful, tranquil and accessible to many things and places to see and enjoy. If you are in to television they even have SKY/Netflix and all that and wi-fi too. Amazing place for families, walkers, cyclists...well everyone. I was on my own this time but my partner and I will be back very soon when we can get our dates coordinated. A true gem with a lovely, friendly and very hospitable couple. My worry now is after this review and the other reviews, I better book soon!! to make sure I get in. Thank you to you both.

  • Bethan was very friendly and accommodating from the off. She rang be before I arrived to let me know where to park and check when I was expected to arrive. The farmhouse is in rural mid-Wales, 10 mins by car from Lake Vyrnwy. Clean and well presented room, with a fridge with beer, wine, milk etc. and a kettle within easy reach. Nice warm living room downstairs with huge sofas and a roaring fire (and TV should you need it). Ensuite with toilet, sink and shower. Hot water a little bit sketchy but was able to have a pleasant shower, and hot water was never a problem from the sink. Fresh towels and linens and a groovy lamp! Ample car parking space. Bethan was kind enough to leave me a very thoughful and lovely packed breakfast to take with me, as I had to be out early. No bother with keys and curfews. Overall great experience. Only note to travellers - this farmhouse is in a remote part of Wales which is at least 10-15 min drive to the nearest village/pub, and probably an hour and a half to a larger town. If you’re a new driver or not confident driving on single track roads/in the dark and navigating without phone signal or internet, you might struggle. Aside from that, no reason you shouldn’t have a great stay here!!

  • Great location if you want to get away from it all, but in driving distance if you want to get out and about in the local area. A lovley home from home spacious property, we were 4 adults and 4 children and there was plenty of room for us all. There were games and toys at the property to keep the children entertained and the property had all the gadgets you would need if your planning to stay home and cook. We wanted a nice week away from it all to relax and enjoy the outdoors and this property enabled us to do just that. Now back home feeling completely recharged to get back to the craziness of our every day lives. Would definaly recommend. Susan has a good knowledge of the local are and was very helpful and gave us information for local shops and take aways. Susan also gave some information on local site seeing and we had a lovley walk and seen the near by waterfall. Would definatly recommend.

  • We stayed at Susan's house the last weekend of may, including the bank holidays. The property is really spacious and we found it very clean. We were there for thre nights, two families including 4 children who really enjoyed the toys and place! There is a wide garden where the kids spent hours playing. Susan answer all our questions really quick before we arrived and welcomed us with a cake. We really enjoyed very much our stay. Thank you very much, Susan!
