Places to stay in Llanuwchllyn
Our secluded cabin is surrounded by ancient oak tree forest and all the wildlife that comes with it. It is so peaceful that you will only hear the river and the birds. Set in 10 acres of our own land for you to explore and easy access to Snowdonia public foothpaths, it is perfect for those looking to spend some time in nature. The cabin itself features private hot tub, wet room, underfloor heating, large deck with bbq, kingsize bed, kitchen, living and dining area and a private cinema.
*Our cabin is very popular and if it’s full for your dates we have another equally wonderful place to stay ‘The Barn Owl’. Find it by clicking on our host profile photo* Our cabin is a nature lovers retreat for those looking for an adventure on foot or 2 wheels, or merely an escape from hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's located in the heart of Snowdonia, surrounded by native ancient forest and the wildlife it supports, nothing but the sound of the river and birdsong. After leaving your car at the garage, make the rest of your journey on foot, a short walk over a bridge by a waterfall and up a tree lined track up towards the cabin. The cabin is a long stone's throw from the main house but enjoys complete privacy through it's own gate and is hidden amongst trees and shrubs. It comprises large furnished deck complete with hot tub, perfect for relaxing in nature and under the stars. Inside there is underfloor heating, kingsize bed, fully equipped kitchen & dining area, wet room and large comfy couch on which to enjoy a full cinema experience. *From mid March we will be changing our hot tub from an electric to a wood fired tub. We think you’ll agree it’s a cut above as we have learned from our other Airbnb rental :) * The cabin is a perfect way to explore this part of Snowdonia, the surrounding area is crisscrossed with walkers paths and bike trails, there are outdoor pursuits galore from surfing to zip wiring over the slate mines. Snowdon itself is close for more great walking, as is Coed y Brenin for mountain biking and Bala for watersports or simply amble through nearby forests, by beautiful rivers and lakes. On a sunny day, the beautiful white sandy beaches of Harlech, Borth y Gest and the Llyn Peninsula are all within a short drive away. Now for the basics, we provide bedding and towels, small welcome pack (for 3+ nights). Eco-sensitive toiletries are provided which we encourage you to use. The cabin comfortably accommodates 2 adults and a further 2 small children or babies and we can supply travel cot, blow up bed and high chair. The cabin has full cinema experience and we have an extensive library for you to choose from. We are both keen walkers and can supply maps or advice on the many local hikes. You can even borrow 'Jake' - our perfect dog - if you promise to take him for a walk!!
Our nearest neighbour is well over 1/2 a mile away. It's you, the trees, the birds and the stars. There are nearby towns of Blaenau Ffestiniog and Porthmadog for your supplies and various pub food and restaurant options. We are also close by to Portmeirion Village.
  • Excellent place already booked our return! Thanks so much!

  • Myself and my partner recently spent a week in the cabin, along with our 8 month old puppy. The space is gorgeous - clean, warm and full of thoughtful little touches like prosecco, popcorn and dressing gowns for after the hot tub. Now I mention it the hot tub was amazing - we saw 5 shooting stars whilst relaxing one night and plenty of secure space for the dog to run about. Mark and Lindsay are welcoming and helpful hosts - definitely recommenda stay for anyone needing an escape from the real world!

  • Amazing cabin, location and hosts!

  • Amazing place. Such a lovely cosy retreat in the heart of the beautiful landscape. From the moment we arrived we fell in love with the place. So much so that on the second morning we had already booked for our next trip there. The cabin is perfect, from the hot tub on the deck to to the lovely comfy bed it couldn't be faulted. The hardest part of the stay was choosing which film to watch from the brilliant DVD collection.. can't recommend enough.

  • Mark and Lindsay are lovely hosts and great at communicating, very helpful. This is the best air bnb I’ve stayed at! Even staying during the storm we had a lovely time. The cabin is beautiful, and the hot tub and surrounding area is amazing. We found a few treats left for us, and Mark and Lindsay were really quick at responding to any questions, never seeming like we were hassling them. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. We managed a few hours walking despite the stormy weather (storm Ciara) and the area is really nice. Being in an ancient oak woodland in a hot tub even in bad weather and being able to cosy up with a home cinema screen (blue ray collection is great), is awesome. Highly recommend ‘Us’ if you like to be a bit scared. No complaints at all.

  • My partner and I stayed here with our dog. All three of us felt well catered for. The cabin has everything you need and extras from Mark and Lindsay that make your stay even better. We loved the enclosed area so our dog could roam around safely whilst we soaked in the hot tub after long walks that were recommended by the hosts. We were provided with so much info about the surrounding areas. It really is a one of a kind kinda place!

  • Great place, great countryside, well worth a stay

    Jake2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Lindsay’s cabin is a must for anyone looking to escape the rat race. Hidden away in a picturesque valley, the cabin is in an ideal location for rest and recuperation. My partner and I had 3 perfect days, making the most of the walk maps left behind by Mark and Lindsay. It’s ideal for little ones too, as our daughter loved watching the sheep and spending time at the local waterfalls. The evenings were extra special for us, spending time relaxing in the hot tub, staring at the stars, miles from any light pollution or noise. We will certainly visit again!!!!!

The hut got warm with the fire on despite snow on the mountains outside, futons made a comfy bed and showers were warm. Claire was very welcoming and dinner suggestions were delicious! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Situated in the grounds of Caerau Gardens, a charming and unusual bolt hole for a couple to stay in. With under-floor heating, a Sauna and a large screen and projector! The surroundings are stunning we even have a lake for fishing, swimming or perhaps kayaking. We’ve just gone “smart” with Alexa and fun lights! We are high in the hills, 5 miles east of Bala on the edge of Snowdonia, in easy reach of all that has to offer Self isolate here, could be the best place to be!
Sauna and projector with large screen for films, it has a slot for dvds and vga connectivity for a laptop, we have some films. Very comfortable large mattress accessable by ladder above sauna and under a velux window to the stars. Everything you need in a compact and stylish space. BBQ and seating area plus a new deck with more chairs and table overlooking the view. There is even a sunken trampoline outside your door! If you would like a really remote farmhouse have a look at Tyn Llyn by our lake for 2 people or maybe children camping. No electricity! But quite a spot! Or Tai Isaf if there are more of you, so remote you need to borrow our4x4 unless you have your own. For families of up to 6 but there is electricity and heating, certainly no neighbours!
The area: - Bala is a fairly small town of about 2000 inhabitants but it has all you need in the way of shops and is about 5 miles from us. It has the lake railway and of course the lake. Sarah and Mark of bala water sports can help you out with that and all sorts of activities, see their web site. There is white water rafting on the Tryweryn too. A lot of visitors do Snowdon, it is an obvious choice but there are lots of less crowded mountains too. Loads of other walking choices of course and a lot of people just stay and walk from the door. We have 600 acres of hill, mountain and valley and our lake. On the land are stone circles and flint aged/Roman camp “Caer Euni”. The lake is 18 acres and good for swimming. There is a kayak you can borrow and course fishing for pike and perch, we can find you some tackle. We also have a couple of mountain bikes for you to borrow. Elsewhere in Snowdonia there is so much to do that web searches are your best bet but lots of coast obviously and castles. People love “zip world” and “bounce below” they need booking. Food: - the bryntirion pub in Llandderfel or really special food at the Tyddyn Llan or Pale Hall. Rhug isn’t bad either and there are good Indian restaurants in Bala and Corwen. We can do meals for you until about 6.30pm and in the season our cafe is open until 5 anyway. I hope this gives you some ideas to research! Toby and Stephanie
  • This accommodation exceeds expectations. I could not recommend it more. For us, it felt like a home away from home. The grounds and views were spectacular - we would love to come back in the summer to see everything in full bloom (and to be able to sit out and have a bbq and marvel in the views) We only met Toby, but he was such a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. There are so many small touches that really made our stay, such as the projector of an evening and the underfloor heating after an afternoon exploring the surrounding area. The well-behaved dogs and duck made us so happy. With one of the dogs coming on a walk with us-they stole our hearts. One thing that really drew us to the accommodation was the fact that you can lay in bed and look out at the stars- the views did not fail us, definitely a great accommodation for a romantic getaway ( if you do go, open the window in the morning the sounds of wildlife will make you feel so happy) Will definitely book to go back again !! Thank you Toby for letting us stay!

  • Enjoyed a wonderful two-night stay in the pigsty. Set in incredible Welsh countryside compete with spectacular views, it was just the kind of retreat we needed. The accommodation is fantastic, with the sauna offering a perfect welcome home after a long walk and the projector a great addition for film nights! We loved the resident dogs, who enthusiastically accompanied us for a walk and also Trump, the friendly duck! Toby and Stephanie are great hosts and extremely welcoming/helpful. I'd have no hesitation recommending the Pigsty to fellow travelers :)

    Joel2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing place. The hosts were amazing and the stay was fantastic Toby was extremely helpful and friendly, lending me a fishing rod so that i could fish at their lake. The hospitality was one to remember and i can't recommend this stay enough!

    Jordan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend - fresh homemade bread and their own eggs provided a really nice touch! the bed was really comfortable and everything was sparkling clean!

    Shannon2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We both had an amazing 3 days in the pigsty, everything we needed and more. Friendly arrival with a fresh homemade loaf of bread and free range eggs, which was so welcoming after our long journey. Waking up every morning to beautiful scenery and surroundings. The pigsty has underfloor heating and a sauna to keep you all toasty for those cold cosied up nights. Would highly recommend, especially for those who are looking for a quiet getaway. If you’re an animal lover, the owners dogs are very welcoming and playful, you can even have a local walk and they would love to tag along. We will definitely return x

  • Lovely people, a unique spot, romantic setting for the girls, gadgets for the boys!

    Mark2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the pigsty from 17th to 20th of February 2020, during storm Dennis! Despite to battering wind and rain, we had a wonderful stay in the cosy pigsty. The initial communication with Toby on booking to accomodation was great and the directions we were given were very easy to follow. Once we arrived we were met by Stephanie with a loaf of the most delicious warm bread. She was incredibly friendly and helpful and gave us some good tips for during our stay. After settling in we were taken on a tour by the lovely dogs, who showed us to the lake and back. Such good service! The accommodation is so cosy. The underfloor heating is a great touch. I was initially concerned about the tiled floor in the winter but the floor kept a constant heat and the place felt really warm for the entire stay. The gardens surrounding the property are beautiful and we'd have loved to see them in full bloom and are considering returning to do just that. . We loved hearing the bird song in the morning and got a nice view of the stars from the window in the bedroom on the first night. We enjoyed some walks around the area, including the lake and beyond (the dogs will take you). If you didn't want to drive during your stay, this would be entirely possible as there are some lovely walks surrounding the property. If you walk beyond the lake you come across a lovely waterfall and some beautiful views. The sauna and projector are great touches and make the place feel more luxurious. We especially enjoyed a sauna after a long walk in the wind and rain. Very comfy bed, we slept so well every night. If you want to get out into the countryside for peace and quiet, go on some lovely walks and get away from it but still enjoy some luxuries and comfort then I would highly recommend the pigsty. Leanne and Lee

  • The most wonderful location, the most wonderful space to live in and very exceptional hosts. Myself and my boyfriend were wanting a peaceful weekend away for Valentine’s, and although storm Dennis didn’t allow us to explore the area well we still had the best time. The pigsty itself is such a brilliant space to be in for the weekend, the sauna was an amazing amenity and the nice touch of fresh bread and eggs on arrival really made this weekend special.

Comfortable, well-appointed cottage providing ideal accommodation for a short break or longer stay. Blaenau is the perfect location for an active holiday in Snowdonia, for just relaxing, or for a bit of both. Direct view of the Ffestiniog Railway.
The cottage provides a comfortable base for a short or long holiday, whether you intend this to be full of activities, a chill out, or a combination of both. The cottage sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms. One of the rooms has a double bed and the other has a double / single bunk bed, so it can be used either as a double bedroom or as a twin bedroom. There’s wardrobe and drawer storage in the bedrooms. You can either bring your own bed linen (we provide duvets and pillows for all guests) and towels, or we can provide and launder bed linen and / or towels for an extra charge (see "Other Things to Note"). In the open-plan living room there’s a comfy three-piece suite, dining table, sideboard, bookcase (with a selection of books, DVDs, maps, local information and games), coffee table, smart TV (satellite and internet), Blu-Ray / DVD player and a Wii games console (with games). There’s a wood-burning stove in an Inglenook fireplace. High-speed wireless internet is accessible throughout the cottage and included in the price. The modern kitchen is well appointed, having a microwave with grill, fan oven, ceramic hob, extractor, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and plenty of pots, pans, utensils, glasses and crockery. In the modern bathroom, in addition to the obvious sink and toilet, there's a full-size L-shaped bath, an electric shower and heated towel rail. In addition to the stove in the living room, there are four electric storage heaters. Hot water is provided by an electric immersion heater. There’s a small garden to the front of the cottage, and a there’s a yard to the rear with steps up to a terrace and the hillside garden. Private, off-street parking is available directly in front of the cottage.
  • Really nice little cottage with everything we needed in it. The hosts were very responsive and very helpful too. In an excellent location, less than a 10 min drive from the slate caverns and right next to Snowdonia. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others. Thank you for having us!

  • Perfect place & location for Snowdonia

    Robert2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed the location of this home. It was perfect for what we wanted to do, which included hiking, a deep mine tour (which i recommended to anyone that has a chance), and just general site seeing. make sure to bring socks in the winter because the kitchen floor is chilly!

    Ilsa2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little terraced cottage in a good location for hiking, biking, sight seeing etc approximately 40 mins from Snowden. Entirely self catering but there are also a couple of nearby local options.

  • Very easy to access as stated in instructions, i really liked the bonus when i seen free car place exactly for me as very narrow streets in there. Nice idea with the key locker, everything was perfect, fire place best thing, 15 minutes walk to the shop, and You need 3-5 wood bags for long evening. Have a nice stay who read this post. :)

A luxury 1 bedroom Quarryman's cottage which has been lovingly refurbished complete with Log Burner and Super King Size Bed. This cottage is situated in an ideal location to explore much of what Snowdonia has to offer.
The cottage really is a comfortable place to stay, what with a log burner with as much firewood as you can burn and a huge Super King bed with Goose Down Quilts and Pillows, complete with Egyptian Cotton Bed Linen... This is great place to unwind in comfort or relax following a day on the mountains. I hope you enjoy this cosy cottage as much as I do. I’ve attempted to retain as much character as possible whilst trying to embed as much modern comforts as possible. The cottage therefore benefits from an Integrated Dishwasher, a large Fridge Freezer, a large Power Shower and a modern but in keeping highly efficient Log Burning Stove backed up by a modern electric wet Central Heating System feeding radiators and producing a plentiful supply of hot water. The kitchen further benefits from an electric Oven, Microwave and a two ring Halogen Hob (a 3 tier steamer is provided to make up for the 2 rings!). The small (and steep!) terraced garden at the rear of the cottage has great views over the Machno valley) where there is a bistro table chair set, together with an additional set outside the front of the properly where you can sit and enjoy the views. Both areas are a real sun trap (Welsh weather dependent). All linen and towels provided, as are as much logs as you can burn. Whilst well behaved pets are most welcome guests should be warned that the garden is steep and not really suitable as an exercise space for dogs.
Betws-y-Coed 8 miles. The scattered, sleepy village of Cwm Penmachno is situated in the beautiful Machno Valley, just 6 miles from the popular town of Betws-y-Coed. Surrounded by dense woodland, magnificent mountains and flowing rivers, the whole area is a haven for walkers, birdwatchers, mountain bikers and climbers, whilst Betws-y-Coed itself offers a good range of shops, pubs and cafes. Here the River Conwy meets its three tributaries creating a host of cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges throughout the surrounding countryside, the most famous of which is the magnificent waterfall at Swallow Falls, situated where the River Llugwy meets with a spectacular chasm creating a sight not to be missed! With all of Snowdonia to explore and North Wales' Heritage Coastlines also within easy reach, this beautiful location is perfect for outdoor activities or a quiet “away from it all” holiday at any time of year!
  • This cottage is more than perfect - the comfort / cosy factor was brilliant! If you want a romantic cottage for two and to spend evenings in front of a roaring log fire after spending the day walking and exploring, this is the place for you. The location is wonderful and we hope to return some day.

Thanks for a perfect stay. Will definitely be returning.

  • This place is a perfect getaway to wind down and get away from it all. There are walks for miles in all directions from the door and the log burner was amazing to come back to with a great entertainment setup for watching films at the end of the day. Would highly recommend and definitely be going back.

    Aden2020-02-01T00:00:00Z

We live in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanfor is just 3/4 mile outside of the town of Bala where we have the largest natural lake in Wales. Bala is a great centre for all sorts of activities as well as being central for touring the area. See the Visit Bala website for all the local information. The location is great for a peaceful break, a base for touring or for activities such as cycling, walking, fishing, canoeing and white water rafting. Our garden is a delight and has decking with a hot tub, a pond, stream and tables and chairs where you can chill out and relax. We also have free Wi-Fi. We can store your bikes and trailed boats securely. We can dry your soggy clothes and boots. In fact you are guaranteed to feel spoilt here!

  • We had a great stay at the carpenter's cabin over New year. The cabin is in a good location for walks and there are a couple of shops nearby so it's not too remote. The grounds are very peaceful and we enjoyed using the hot tub on the night time. This is a real plus. We had a couple of minor issues with the oven and shower but Mel and mick were quick to show us what to do so this was resolved on the same day. They are friendly hosts and the cabin is finished to a high, clean standard. Thanks for an enjoyable stay xx

    Jo2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place so quiet and in a stunning location. The views are beautiful and the accommodation is brilliant. The cabin is spotless and spacious with all the facilities you need. It felt like ever detail had be thought about. Such a wonderful place we'd highly recommend it to anyone. The location is rural but with lots of things to do and places to visit close by, some within walking distance. Lots of wonderful local restaurants to visit but the cabin kitchen also has everything you'd need to cook for yourselves. We will definitely look at coming back.

  • This place was great, exactly as described if not better! Quaint little house with everything you need for a short stay! Facilities all worked, nicely decorated. Lowrie was incredibly helpful and welcoming! She gave us a better property when it became available and let us check out late! Would definitely recommend! Thanks a lot!

  • A lovey cosy cottage in a very good location close to all major attractions. A great pub within walking distance.

  • Great stay is this cosy little cottage! We booked a spontaneous night on the day of arrival to finish off our mini honeymoon after getting married Saturday! The place was really clean and warm and had everything we needed. Only downside was we think we came on a really quiet night as there seemed no sign of life in any of the pubs in Bala up the road but it didn't matter as we hit the local co op and had a cosy night infront of the fire instead! Also Bala Lake is a must see while you stay, beautiful scenes and only a few mins drive away! Thanks again for our break away. Emily & Karl

  • Beautiful cottage in a quiet location at the end of Bala Lake. Recently and stylishly modernised, in pristine condition. There was plenty of room for our family of 3, with enough amenities for a comfortable stay. We found there was always space on the road outside the property to park our car. Llanuwchylln station, for the Bala Lake railway, is a 3 minute walk away. We’d definitely recommend as a base for exploring the area or getting away from it all.

  • Amazing place!

  • Really lovely little cottage. Just big enough to have everything you need and really nicely finished. Rustic but modern where it needed to be. Lovely wood burner to make it nice and cosy in the evenings and a shop/pub/restaurant with the basics right next door. 10 out of 10 from us!

    Ross2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy cottage in the beautiful Welsh countryside. Just a 5-10minute drive from Bala lake, which was absolutely stunning, and in close proximity to local beaches. The Eagles pub served great food, but the cottage provided the facilities to cook our own food. Paul was a great host, who was easily contactable and provided great tips for our stay. We will definitely try to come back in Summer!

    Samantha2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is all you could want from a little cottage in Snowdonia. A good wood burning stove, a cosy sitting room, clean kitchen and bathroom and two tidy bedrooms. Paul had kindly left us some milk and basic essentials when we arrived. Highly recommended.

    Alex2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • 5 star place. Cozy and relaxing. Spotlessly clean. We will definitely be back here soon.

    Andrew2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Superb cosy cottage with just about everything you could ever need available. The wood burner is a lush feature to cwtch up inside in the colder crisp evenings. Would be a great cottage to enjoy a small Christmas or New Year’s Eve. Paul is a brilliant host, always on hand over the phone and nothing is too much trouble. 50 minutes drive from the coast or Snowdon with beautiful scenery along the way. Village pub/shop just next door with a friendly busy atmosphere. Bala town about 10 minutes away has everything you need and a stunning lake to walk or enjoy water sports. Only thing to note is lots of activities are seasonal so check they are still open going into winter months ie Snowdon train, water sports on the lake. Plenty to do for all ages and very dog friendly area. Thanks for having us Paul, we’d love to come back in the future.

    Jenny2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect for cosy little break! It had everything we needed. Only issue was the living room light flickered when switched on, but we just used the kitchen one instead! Also, probably me just being silly, but the instructions for where the empty the bins were a bit vague...wasn't sure if it was right to put them in the neigbours or not!! But all in all, a brilliant little place & would definitely recommend!

    Emma2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is lovely! We were amazed by all of the mod-cons incorporated into such an old, cosy cottage. We loved the boiling water tap (great way to save work space!) and the heating/hot water system was very easy to use. The electric fire was outstanding - it kept us very warm! And, of course, the hot tub was perfect - it rained the whole time during our stay, as well as being no more than 6°, but that didn't stop us from getting in! It was a fab additional touch. The place was very clean and Ryan had left tea, coffee, sugar and milk for us, along with Welsh cakes, which was really nice of him. The one thing we found was that there were no nice walking places in the local area, so we drove into Betws-y-Coed both days, which was about 40 mins away, but a gorgeous village with lovely walks - we highly recommend it if you like the outdoors! Overall, we had a delightful time in the cottage and would recommend it to anybody!

    Ellie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely and cosy place to stay which was very well decorated. We had the best sleep as the bed is very comfortable. Hot tub is perfect for 2 people and we will definitely be coming back again. Ryan is very helpful and responsive. Thanks for a great stay!

  • The cottage is beautiful, very clean stylish design and the hot tub makes it proper luxurious. The location is fantastic with stunning views of the hills from the property, and easy access to local attractions. Ryan was a fantastic host answering any question very quickly. Will definitely look to book again in the future.

    Ian 2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan's place was a really beautiful spot in Wales! We got a bit lost to the house (I am going to blame it on the fog) but it is on the main road just down the road from the stone bus stop if you also are travelling there at night! Ryan was also amazing when we did get lost and answered his phone straight away so thank you for that! The house was spotless and the bed was super comfy we slept so well! The place is really close to lots of attractions in Snowdonia and you can see the mountains from the house! Would definitely stay again!

    Chelsea2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan’s place was cosy yet stylish, and was equipped with modern touches such as an instant hot water tap and a gas fire. We were left lovely little touches such as slippers for the hot tub, welsh cakes and milk which made us feel very welcome. The hot tub was lovely and didn’t require pre heating. The bed was very comfy and the space as a whole was perfect, the pictures don’t do it justice. Located in a lovely area of Snowdonia which felt remote but with easy access to local amenities such as shops and pubs. Close to lots of lovely walks. Would 100% recommend!

Cut Cywarch is in the heart of the Southern Snowdonia mountains. Set at the foot of the Aran Fawddwy (905m) - there are many walks starting from the door step of the hut. If you are looking to switch off and get away from it all, then this is the place for you. With no mobile phone signal or wifi you are sure to have some peace and quiet! Perfect for a couple getaway.
Wooden hut in the mountains. 3.5 miles from the village of Dinas Mawddwy where you will find a two pubs, a garden centre two cafes and a crafts centre. A further mile up the road there is a petrol station and a shop.
  • Last minute trip down wales, cut cywarch was a lovely cosy, warm, hut in the middle of a beautiful valley!

    Alison2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing stay. The location was perfect for hiking throughout South Snowdonia and there are plenty of guides in the hut to help you find the right walk. The hut was very cosy and genuinely felt a lot more spacious than the pics make it look. Shower was nice and had all the necessary amenities to cook some decent meals. The best thing was waking up to the mountains literally on your doorstep with the stream flowing right next to you. Highly recommend, will definitely be coming back!

    Henry2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing location. The photos do not do this place justice. This is the perfect place to stay if you like to walk. Just outside your doorstep there are national walks with beautiful views. There's also a beautiful river running by the side of the wooden pod which can't be seen in the photos Ellen has up. We stayed for one night, and the wooden pod is lovely and cosy with all the amenities you'd need. We visited the local pub The Red Lion for food, which had a lovely open fire and great pub grub 😃 loved that there was no signal, WiFi or television, it really added to the relaxing weekend away! Will definitely be back soon.

We are a brand new small self catering holiday apartment set in the charming market town of Bala in the Snowdonia National Park. Argraig is a peaceful break away from life and its demands. It can be used as a hideaway or as a base to explore. Our ground floor flat accommodation sleeps two, parking and wifi. Contemporary in design but not at the cost of comfort. There is a real home from home feeling; a light and airy living room/dining area with patio doors. The bedroom has a generous ensuite.
We are situated in Bala town a small stroll to the local restaurants, shops and the famous Bala Lake. You can hike, canoe, sail, kayak, bike and the list goes on! Or come back to our cosy apartment and sit in front of the fire with a nice glass of wine.
  • We had a great stay. Well appointed, comfy and cosy accommodation. Mari & Dan are really friendly and we appreciated their recommendations. We enjoyed drinks in STORI and a meal in Plas Yn Dre. Great central location for exploring some breathtaking sights in addition to Bala including Snowdon, Vyrnwy, Llangollen. We also went to Portmerion and Harlech. Just a shame Wales didn’t win the match!

  • Stunning barn, and is like a tardis, the place is huge with rooms behind doors you wouldn't expect. Very clean and everything there you could wish for. Special way for me and my family to see the new year in. Loved it.

  • We stayed over Christmas and the barn was the perfect place to celebrate with family, the hosts had erected two Christmas trees and decorations around the house, it was decorated beautifully. Six adults and two dogs and we felt that there was plenty of room with two big living spaces and the kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining table. The barn is warm in the winter and the showers hot and powerful. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we required to cook Christmas dinner and all of our other meals, we didn't want for anything in the kitchen. The 2 adults in the single beds complained that they were a little small, but our stay was perfect and we would happily return.

  • Fantastic stay at the barn. One of the best Airbnb places we've stayed at. Lovely, clean house for a family weekend away.

  • We stayed on a family weekend away and it was spot on for 8 of us - so much space and a great location. We could of spent the whole weekend just inside the barn it was that nice! We will definitely be returning!

  • Exceptional space. We enjoyed our time here so much we didn't want to leave! The pictures on here do not do it justice. The barn was super clean, modern and very stylish. Loads of useful amenities and close to all the major attractions in Snowdonia. I cannot recommend this place enough. Katy was a superb host!

    Owen2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant house, perfect for the ten of us. It's in a beautiful location near the lake and the folder with all the local info came in very handy. Would definitely stay again!

  • Katy’s was the perfect place for a long weekend in Snowdonia. Access to Lake Bala and the village of Bala both right on the doorstep and an easy drive for the coast and Snowdonia National Park. The barn is equipped with everything you could need and we spent 3 wonderful afternoons bbqing out in the garden.

Mark and Sue gave us great tips on the area as well and we went on some great walks. Definitely recommend staying here if you are planning to explore north Wales! Best of wishes to you both, Anna

  • Sue and Mark have a splice of paradise within the national park; it is lovely of them to share their space with others, and we cannot recommend it enough! Some of the quietest and darkest nights' sleep I have ever had, and a pleasure to wake up to the vista of wide open space and wildlife. A treat for any outdoorsy human-- I would certainly return :)

    Stevie2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. Everything you might want for a perfect, quiet, deep countryside relaxing stay. Sue and Mark are the perfect hosts and the beds and the breakfasts are absolutely 6 stars!!

    James2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • I could not recommend Sue and Mark’s little slice of Snowdonia heaven more highly. Attentive, discreet, quite rightly very proud of their creation and extremely stylish. Any writer, Thinker or person requiring headspace to clear the mind and think clearly could not wish for a better environment , views or hosts.

If it’s a quiet, chilled out getaway you are looking for, then this is the place for you! We look forward to welcoming guests to our Welsh glamping hut in the hills, 'Ty bech twt' (a Welsh translation for 'small house'). We hope we have catered for all your needs but please ask if you have any special requests, we will try our best to accommodate every need.
This glamping experience has all the essentials - gas BBQ, firepit, electricity, log burner, kitchenette and bathroom which includes a shower. The king size bed is located in the mezzanine with a ceiling window to watch the stars from the comfort of your bed. The hut is fenced off so pets can roam safely, and there are plenty of dog walks nearby. PLEASE NOTE - There is no mobile reception or wi-fi within the area so you can 'switch-off' throughout your stay. The bed is located up a steep ladder - as seen in photos.
We have plenty of great walks right on our doorstep, from gentle strolls to mountain climbs. Or if you would prefer an adventure on two wheels, then Coed y Brenin is the place to be for off road cycling experience or dare cycle the highest pass in Wales which is minutes away. Or you may prefer to be pampered? There are spa facilities and restaurant around 9 miles away with picturesque lake scenery. There is plenty to see and do in and around the area from steam train journeys, boating/kayaking on Wales’s largest natural lake, day on the beach, visit caves at King Arthur's Labrinth or the hustle and bustle of Machynlleth market every Wednesday. There are also plenty of great places to eat locally of different cuisines. And if you’re not too tired out after all the day activities, Snowdonia National Park was awarded Dark Sky Reserve status in December 2015 so we have just the place for stargazing.
  • We had such a lovely time here. Super refreshing to not have any phone reception and the only neighbours in sight being the sheep. Lovely, responsive hosts, happy doggo to cuddle, and amazing views from the hut. A perfect little get-away!

  • A wonderful New Years spent recharging and unwinding. The cabin is small but perfectly formed and lots of lovely, quality touches. It has everything you need as well as being warm, cosy and just non pretentious - it felt like a home away from home. We had an amazing walk to the local waterfall. Despite no WiFi or phone signal we didn’t lack in entertainment. The views are to die for and the surrounding area is a perfect escape

    Naomi2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed our time away. The location is gorgeous, fabulous views. The cabin is well-equipped with everything you'll need. The little electric fan heater was really appreciated to take the chill off in the mornings, and to provide a bit of warmth before the fire got going! Thank you for this beautiful little place :)

  • Booked this for my partners birthday, something completely different to what we’d usually book. Overall we really enjoyed our stay - although it does feel like you are in someone’s garden but once you are in the pod and hot tub it’s very private. The pod has everything you need and the COMFIEST bed! You really are with nature with no TV or phone signal. The hot tub was so cosy amongst the trees and by the river both day and night, but not sure what we did as the hot tub cooled down a lot when we used it in the late evening. We was unfortunate with the rain as there is no shelter for the hot tub but we did not let this ruin our time. There are some outdoor lights that are not working but this does not affect visibility. Had a lovely meal locally at the royal ship hotel. My partner did say he would have preferred a roll down blind covering the door for privacy. In my opinion I do think £147 may be slightly expensive, however as this is not something we usually book I wouldn’t know competitive prices. Thank you again was a lovely stay.

Croeso i’n tŷ ni yng nghanol pentref Llanuwchllyn! Our house is located in Snowdonia National Park in a village called Llanuwchllyn, which is between Bala and Dolgellau. There is a pub in the village called the Eagles which is locally renowned for it's real ale and good food. We have a three quarter bed available in a small bedroom in our house and private bathroom. The bathroom only has a bath- no shower. There is space for you to park your car on the drive.

The local pub serves delicious food and there is a shop there to pick up essentials. The town of Bala is 5 minutes away. There are numerous restaurants, pubs, gift shops and supermarket situated at the town. Bala lake is only 5 minutes away and the white water rafting centre is 10 minutes away. Snowdon mountain, Cadair Idris and the Carneddau are driving distance that vary between half hour - hour away. If you are looking for some adrenaline adventure, look no further than the famous Zip World and Bounce Below which are also a maximum hours drive away.
Llanuwchllyn is a village and community in Gwynedd near the southern end of Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake). It is a welsh-speaking village and has a population of about 800 people.

    Manuel2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • As others have said, the welcome is genuine and warm, and the house impeccable. We didn't meet Iolo, but Gwen was super-efficient in her communication, the room was comfortable and our only issue was keeping our soaking wet and muddy dogs from muddying her beautiful carpets - the weather was atrocious. Cockapoo puppy Inca gave both humans and dogs an ecstatic greeting and Gwen went out of her way to check on gluten-free options for me in the local area (the local pub does excellent food with g-f options). I am disabled and coped but the stairs are fairly steep and there is no shower in the bathroom so may not suit all disabilities. Highly recommended.

    Melissa2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Iolo and Gweni are amazing hosts and went above and beyond to make sure everything was spotless. We had a great time and these lovely guys provided us a really nice base for our short exploration of Snowdonia. We want thank them especially for giving us this opportunity to be able to travel with our lovely beast Sunny as well. Well done and thanks again.

    Peter2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at lolo and Gweni’s beautiful home and would love to visit again in the future. Gweni was super accommodating and kind host and we had everything we could’ve possibly needed. The house is lovely, really homely feel and beautiful touches. Gweni was quick to respond and helpful! The bathroom was super clean and the room had everything you need. Lolo and Gweni have adorable dog called Inca and they didn’t mind we brought our own dog too which is amazing as there are not a lot of pet friendly places to stay. This house makes you feel like home. The neigbourhood is very quiet and not far from attractions in Snowdonia. Thank you for everything

  • We had a brilliant stay at The Old Workhouse. Our hosts were welcoming and hugely helpful in recommending places to visit and eat in the area. The room was superbly clean and the bed was really comfortable meaning we had a great sleep. To top it off, the breakfast was delicious! Thanks again, we will be back!

  • This is a beautifully decorated old workhouse that we felt honoured to stay in. Ian and his wife were extremely friendly and gave us the best local tips. The B&B is right around the corner from Bala high street. There is parking across from the B&B and we felt safe with a coded iron gate that locked behind when going into the courtyard. The B&B is extremely well decorated and our room was beautiful. It was so light and airy with a comfortable bed. The room had all the amenities and the shower was the perfect temperature. My husband and I browsed in the shops before spending most of our afternoon in a craft beer pub called Stori. There are activities locally too but we just had a chilled weekend, going for walks by the lake, eating pasties and drinking local beer. Ian cooked up a delicious breakfast for us, with locally sourced sausages and bacon. The coffee was really nice too! The perfect weekend get away in a beautiful B&B with very friendly hosts and stunning scenery.

  • Ian and Georgina were great hosts, they were very informative and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic and the place very homely. The only downside was the weather, but that didn't stop us!

    Holly2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property in a great location within Bala. Ian and Georgina are fantastic hosts and we’d certainly book back in if we were ever staying in East Snowdonia again.

  • Myself and my girlfriend had a marvellous stay while traveling to visit zipworld. Ian and Georgina are fantastic hosts and absolutely lovely people who could not do enough for you. The room itself Is very clean, spacious, and well decorated. Had everything we wanted. Breakfast in the morning was just a lovely extra touch. We would 100% visit again if in the area.

    Joshua2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Spent the weekend at the Old Workhouse in Bala and it was fantastic. The room was amazing, unique and very clean. We were recommended local places to eat and drink by the hosts and Bala is a lovely town. The hosts are fantastic. They both made us feel very welcome straight away. Breakfast is great, locally sourced meats, homemade bread, set in the open kitchen. Really good value for money. Cant recommend this place enough, have already recommended to friends and family and will definitely stay again in the future. Thanks again, Sam and Milayla

    Sam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Expect to be warmly welcomed and treated like family. They really go above and beyond what you could hope for an air bnb, making just an overnight stop on the way to our weekend- one of our highlights!

    Josh2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay. Spacious room in the beautiful Old Workhouse and Ian and Georgina are brilliant hosts who made us feel very welcome. Breakfast in the morning was delicious too.

Glan Y Gro provides holiday accommodation in a unique lakeside location on the shore of Bala Lake - nestling amongst the trees and offering stunning views across the lake and of the surrounding hills. Ideally located to participate in outdoor activities and water sports (we have our own slipway for boats) and also for unwinding, watching the many varieties of birds and the passing quaint narrow gauge steam train. All this only 1.5miles (2.4km) from the town and its amenities.
Through our main reception, and down a flight of stairs and turning right, the entrance to Vyrnwy suite is found by turning right at the end of the corridor. On entering the suite the kitchenette/dining room is to your right and your king-size bed will be seen facing from you and from which you will have partial views of the lake and grounds from your pillow. The bedroom is furnished with oak wardrobe and vanity unit (hairdryer provided) and two leather tub-chairs. The bedroom additionally provides a 43" LG Smart TV - complete with wifi internet connection and a Netflix account. The kitchenette is equipped with quality kettle, toaster, nespresso machine, Panasonic flat-bed combination microwave oven and refrigerator. Sharp knives, cutting boards, tea-towels and detergent are also provided. The bedroom has patio doors leading onto a private (side of the house) balcony that provides views of the lake, grounds, and the small-gauge steam railway. Your en-suite has a large walk-in shower, heated towel-rail and a set of quality towels, handwash, bodywash/shampoo are also provided. * We kindly request that guests who wish to use their own toiletries ensure that these are 'gentle' and 'kind' to the environment as we are on the very shore of a protected lake and have our own waste management system *

We are only 5 minutes from Bala town, and yet being on the B4403 Llangower road, and 1.5 miles from the town centre, our location is peaceful, tranquil and offers a prayerful retreat for those so inclined... With the town so close, supplies and other amenities are within easy reach.

  • We stayed in Robert and Anne Marie's beautiful B&B over the Christmas break and it was just what we needed. The room we had was spotless, the view was breathtaking and it was so peaceful. We will be booking again to go back 🙂

    Liz2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly clean, spectacular views, great local knowledge and very welcoming! Couldn’t fault the place or the people!

    Beckie2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a unique and beautiful place. The AirbnB photos really do not do justice to the location which is directly on the shoreline opposite to itself. Waking up to see the view across the lake to Bala and the mountains beyond is stunning. Robert's place is beautifully presented and provides all you need for a comfortable stay. We were personally greeted and offered plenty of helpful advice about where to eat, local attractions and walks etc.

    David2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location by the lake and only a short walk to the town. Will definitely stay again when in the area next.

  • Roberts airbnb is locates in a stunning spot with sweeping views of the lake. He was friendly and very helpful in helping us make the most of our stay. The room was pristine and I mean not a spec of dust in sight so a very well kept and stylish place indeed! Would absolutely recommend for a nice weekend or few days away.

    Joseph2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend! We were provided with lots of great recommendations of places to eat and see, and were made to feel very welcome. The suite was perfectly clean and the location is perfect - we had a view over the beautiful lake from our balcony. Thanks again - we will definitely recommend this place!

  • This place is “wow”. Nicely decorated and very warm. You have a full kitchen with a shop about 10 minutes walk so no need to lug food around. You have private entrance, off road parking, WiFi, TV with sky, and the view when waking up is amazing! Very close to Snowdon so great for three peaks challenge. You need to stay for more then a day to appreciate the place.

    Abbas2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious, beautifully decorated apartment located at the lower level of the host's home. The area round is spectacular and the little kitty is super friendly. There are plenty amenities- towels, coffee, sugar a well stocked kitchen with utensils. We had a wonderful stay here

Terraced house on small estate, rather quirky decor, close to Bala Lake 4 miles. Quiet. Car handy, but not essential, there is public transport.Very rural!Edge of Snowdonia Nat.Park, though Mountain is 30 miles away.Whitewater rafting, walking, canoeing
Home from home,...I don't have central heating from choice, but heaters are available for bedroom and bathroom if necessary. The guest bedroom benefits from hot water pipes that run from the fire in the kitchen to underneath the floor in the bedroom, on their way to the hot water tank. The decor is kitsch and cosy, definitely not minimalist..... I would ask guests to read as much info as is available to them so as to know what to expect. I have tried to be as thorough as possible with all my information, and hope I haven't missed anything!...
Very peaceful, rural setting. Some lovely walks around the village. Great local pub, The Bryntirion, which serves very good local food at a reasonable price, about 10/15 mins walk from my house. Bala is 4 miles away, and has lots of cafes/restaurants.
  • Great place to stay and very friendly host

  • A nice little apartment very comfortable. Serena offered us a breakfast. Serena is a charming person and very welcoming. We recommend.

    Patrick2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Serena is the queen of hospitality, she is a fantastic host. The room was a lovely size and everything was spotless. It was a lovely quiet neighbourhood and in great location for Bala lake/Snowdonia. Highly recommend!

    Kristie2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We can't recommend Serena and her beautiful home enough! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left she was thoughtful, accommodating and a genuine delight to be around. Her house is full of lovely, quirky touches and everything has a story - it's brilliant to talk to Serena about them and what they mean to her. Our lovely room came with a huge, comfortable bed and lots of lovely touches and her breakfast was fantastic! We really enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine with Serena in her back garden in the beautiful sunshine (rare to have sun in Wales!) and listen to her many wonderful tales of travel, art, her career in showbiz and her love of cats. Serena is a wonderful host and a wonderful person - someone the world could do with more of! Thank you Serena and we hope to come and stay with you again soon!

  • I really enjoyed my stay here. The location overlooking Cadair idris is stunning and made for a great stay. The property has what you require and is simple and I slept amazing before work so can't complain.

    Adrian2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Simple, clean, cosy and well-equipped. Ideal for an overnight stay. Very handy for Dollgellau (walking distance) and easy drive on to locations in North and mid-West. Recommended.

    Richard2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is a great cosy self-contained space near to the main farmhouse and in a perfect location for Dolgellau and Cadair Idris. Parking is easy. The space may be on the small side but it adds to the coziness and is more than adequate for one. The Bothy is well presented and very clean. There is a good kitchen space and Dawn is very thoughtful in providing a supply of tea, coffee and milk and also some breakfast items. I did do a small shop for the morning before arriving but this wasn’t really needed. The shower is perfect and was a delight after a difficult and extremely wet day on Cadair Idris.

A stunning Grade II listed town house in the heart of Snowdonia. Only seconds away from the centre of Bala where you can enjoy lovely independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Gorgeous interiors inspired by Italy, Wales and the Scandinavian countries. Proper coffee always available! Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) under 10 mins walk, and other amenities within Snowdonia easily reached by car. I look forward to meet and host you.
Period houses don't need too much gloss - they are beautiful as they are. It will always be my ongoing project to try and get the interiors right. Wales and Italy are my heaviest influences when choosing interiors, however I see myself changing the rooms again, and again in the future! I love to experiment and I will always adapt. I hope you can feel and enjoy the warm, cozy happy Welsh vibe when you stay!
Bala is a busy market town with stunning surroundings. Llyn Tegid is a must when visiting the area, also Bala Lake Railway is also a memorable experience.

Hosts were very friendly and accomodating with lots of options and recommendations for enhancing stay. Dogs were made to feel very welcome which also really helped.

  • We had an amazing time staying at the log cabins with our cockapoo, Noodle. The cabins are located in a remote rural area and is peacefully quiet. The cabins themselves are very modern, spacious and well equipped and the owners do so much to make your stay there rememberable. The hot tubs are just the icing on the cake! Very impressed and will stay again.
