  • Margaret's cottage is super cozy. My girlfriend & I stayed here and had a wonderful time - it's the perfect size for a couple. I found myself enjoying the little front porch the most. Close to some great hikes and the town of Camden is very charming. Great for a getaway!

Cottage by the Ocean is close to art and culture, great views, restaurants dining, and museums. The guest room is dubbed the Tree Top because of the skylight and the corner windows tree view. Cottage by the Ocean is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. Please note that my two cats, Puppie and Pistol, help with the hosting. Convenient to Rockland, Rockport, and Camden. The room (see photo galley) can accommodate 2 travelers (+$20). Extra disinfectant applied between guests.
Dubbed the "Tree Top" room because it corner windows look out on a wooded scene and the sky light always provides a glimpse of the sky. The cozy Ikea-styled room with s is quiet and comfortable for a short stay in the area. The desk area is well lit and includes easy access electric outlets and a charging station.
Cottage on the Ocean features an unobstructed view of the Atlantic. Quiet neighborhood. Just a mile away, downtown Rockland offers boutique shopping, world class museums, and great dining. The location is perfect if you are participating in programs at Maine Media Workshops, Center for Woodworking, The Apprenticeship Program or other extended length educational activities. Great proximity to Rockland's downtown Strand Theatre whether you're coming for a musical concert or for one of the many events such as the Camden Conference or the Camden. • Pam, Pistol, and Puppie are wonderful hosts. I normally avoid shared Airbnb spaces but Pam is a professional and makes everyone feel at home. The guest room is clean and thoughtful and there probably isn’t a better location in the entire harbor. I will be back without hesitation.

  • Pam’s place is great. Spectacular view from the porch of the ocean. Two minutes drive into town, lots of great shops and places to eat. I would definitely recommend her place!

Beautiful hand built cabin, overlooking Cotton Pond. Ten minutes from Camden, the sailing mecca of the east coast. Solar lights, (we are off the grid) gravity fed kitchen water, gas-hot water outdoor shower, outhouse overlooking the forest. Hiking trails everywhere! Swimming across the road on Hobbs Pond.
Our cabin is placed overlooking a pond, the setting is beautiful, peaceful, and private. The way the cabin is set up, helps you reconnect with a simpler way of life. (Our cabin is not set up to charge electronic devices.)
We love the natural setting, the peace and quiet and the wildlife. We own property across the dirt road, on Hobbs pond, that has kayaks, a canoe and is a beautiful swimming pond.
  • Beautiful hand-built cabin overlooking a pond. Allows you to disconnect and immerse yourself into nature. Perfectly quiet without the background hum of city noise. Would definitely stay again!

    Natalia2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is THE perfect spot to get away and recharge. Leave your blow dryer, lap top and worries at home and enjoy living simply and beautifully. The cabin is so thoughtfully crafted from top to bottom and appointed beautifully with heart and attention to even the smallest details. There were fresh flowers by my bed and logs and kindling by the fire. The surrounding woods are beautifully managed, but still wild and wonderful to explore. You can kayak or swim in the nearby ponds (there are two to enjoy!) or just curl up with a book on the porch or by the cozy wood stove. Expect to be serenaded by owls at night and loons and woodpeckers by day, plus the occasional scolding by curious chipmunks! Julie and Steve are so warm and friendly and available to offer suggestions or answer questions. My stay at their cabin was a complete delight from start to finish!

    Amy2020-04-26T00:00:00Z

You can't get any closer to the coast of Maine. The cottage perches on a dock next to a small cove. Low tide beach, high tide swimming area, and lapping waves on a near by ledge make this get away a perfect retreat for one or two guests.
The cottage provides everything you need for a comfortable stay: New mattress and bedding, comfortable chairs for relaxing and dining, a kitchenette for light meals, and deck furniture to enjoy outdoor living. Wrap around windows provide views of the cove and access to summer breezes. A heater keeps the cabin toasty on cooler days.
We are located in a neighborhood of year round homes and summer houses. The nearby (.5 miles) Audubon property offers walking trails. Damariscotta and Round Pond, 15 minutes away, have many restaurants and shops, and galleries. A half hour drive will bring you to Camden and Rockland where you have more access to restaurants and museums. The Midcoast is a beautiful area of Maine that appeals to people who want to view the scenery of the rocky coast while they also enjoy the uniqueness of each village.
  • Sharon and Dick were expert hosts. The "Little Heaven" description of this location is an understatement. It was absolutely perfect. My soul, my body, my mind, were completely at rest in this place. I can't describe how beautiful it is: waking up to a calm inlet at low tide, sleeping to the sound of the waves lapping inward as high tide was rising, the fishermen headed out to sea in the morning, the leaves across the bay having changed looking like a palette of earth tones. It was heavenly, indeed.

    Todd2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely stunning spot- perfect for relaxing, and also perfectly positioned to adventure out and explore beautiful Maine. Sharon and Dick are perfect hosts, and their warm, welcoming personalities are evident. My husband and I listened to the tides come in and out, heard the loon singing, owl calls- Perfection really, for anyone that likes being in tune with nature.

    Caitlin2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This space is small and cozy, right on the water where you can experience the changing tides and bird watch throughout the day (we especially loved watching the cormorants fish!). Location is great, and Sharon & Dick are super responsive and welcoming hosts. Excellent experience!

    Nikki2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in a beautiful setting! Hard to beat the location - directly on the water - lovely to be able to watch the tide come and go on the rocky shore. The cottage is small but masterfully set-up to take advantage of the space. There are two comfortable armchairs in the windows for watching the tides and the sunset, and a deck with more chairs and tables outside. The kitchen was so meticulously set-up that I sent my son, who is a fan of "tiny houses," a few photos of the layout of dishes, cookware etc inside the cabinets - he was impressed. We had no difficulty cooking a range of nice meals despite the small space. We hope to have a chance to stay in this wonderful place again sometime soon.

    Piper2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Words truly cannot describe this little place. My husband and I eloped from Iowa, and got married right there on the boat dock, and spend a week relaxing, seeing the local sites, eating lobster and oysters, and watching the trees start to turn colors. Our first time in Maine was unbelievable, and would not have been the same had we stayed somewhere else. We loved the winding, wooded roads, and just wish we had our motorcycle! This little cottage was perfect for the two of us. Well equipped with everything we needed. We loved cooking live lobsters, grilling steaks and burgers, and eating on the deck. Dick & Sharron are wonderful!! Always friendly when we saw them around the property, and we still felt secluded and in our own private space. We look forward to returning to Little Heaven again someday!! Best vacation of our lives!

    Sarah2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space and hosts. Waking up on the water was truly inspiring.

    Jay2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing little spot on the water. Sharon and Dick were so helpful, but not intrusive. Life does not get much better than sitting on the deck, eating lobster and watching the seals.

    Cathryn2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is truly an unforgettable slice of heaven. We had the best time staying here and felt right at home. The cottage itself was adorable, very clean and well organized, allowing us to make dinners and breakfasts everyday, as well as grill on the porch. We enjoyed nearby hiking and sightseeing, beautiful sunsets and blissful mornings. We loved how quiet the location was and its tranquility, with unique birds and a fresh ocean smell morning and night. Sharon and Dick were very welcoming and accommodating, and we felt very comfortable lounging on the porch and sitting on the dock off their property. All we can say is thank you so much for an unforgettable experience and we definitely plan to return! This place is Maine’s best kept secret, in my opinion ;)

"The Lair" is a just recently renovated small 200 square foot cabin with vaulted ceilings and plenty of natural sunlight. The building is located close to Green Tree Coffee and Tea, a coffee roaster, so the aroma of coffee will be in the air. We located about 400 yards South of the Islesboro Ferry and Lincolnville Beach and 2.4 milres North of Camden Hills State Park and Mount Battie. Free coffee and tea everyday, all day! We are closed for Winter, will re-open Mid-April. Thank you.
Located on same property as coffee roaster, so if you enjoy the smell of coffee, you are in the right place. We are about 400 yards from the beach, restaurants and ferry to Islesboro. Nice little porch on front of property with table and chairs, as well as 2 Adirondack chairs in front yard. There is a nice field in back of The Lair where you can take your dog for a walk.
  • The place was great! It was actually more spacious than we thought it would be, the craftsmanship on the cabin was fantastic and the coffee shop on property was a great way to wake up in the morning! Highly recommend it!

    Robbie2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Lair was a wonderful little find for a quick trip up the coast! We loved our stay at the cozy little cabin, the sound of peepers and rain lulled us to sleep, after a fantastic hike up Mt. Bald (suggested by John) and a stroll on the Lincolnville beach. John was a gracious host, who couldn't have been more welcoming to us and our furry friend. Enjoyed the delicious coffee and tea @ The Green Tree, where we had fun shopping for locally made products. Already looking forward to my next trip back!

This home is in a country setting on Hatchet Mountain in Hope near the beautiful Maine coast and about 8 miles from Camden. About a mile from our home, is Hobbs Pond (2 miles long!) with public access for swimming, boating and kayaking. Hiking trails surround us, too! Beaver Lodge, a favorite spot for weddings and other family events, is also nearby.
Enjoy a private kitchen, dining, living space, outdoor deck and bathroom with all the essentials. There is one bedroom with a sunroom that looks over the garden areas. The grape arbor is a great spot to sit and stay cool on a hot summer day.
Hope is a small, quiet town in the mountains near lakes, but 8 miles from the ocean! The tourist areas of Camden, Rockport and Rockland are nearby. Acadia National Park is about a 90 minute drive!

  • I had a wonderful stay at John's house- it's such a homely, comfortable place, and John is a great host! Perfectly located less than 10 minutes walk to the centre of Camden, and at such a great price. Thanks very much, John!

  • Great location in town. Very accommodating host. Very clean and charming house.

    Kevin2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot reccomend this place enough! This is one of my favorite places I've stayed in through Airbnb. The location couldn't be better with the house being near the water and about a five minute walk into town. The house was spotless and had really unique character and beauty -- I loved it the moment I walked in. John was hospitable and providedus with all the information we need. I highly, highly, highly reccomend it, the value is absolutely worth it.

    Marie2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • John was extremely hospitable and welcoming. He gave us a detailed tour of his home, had helpful notes and reminders put up, and offered advice about places to go nearby. Definitely great value, especially for the location.

This modern, four-season cottage looks out over the Benjamin River, towards the Eggemoggin Reach. There is water access at high tide. Large glass windows flood the space with sun and provide gorgeous views. The single-story cottage sleeps four in the two bedrooms and could accommodate more on the couch in the living room. The beautiful, coastal setting provides the perfect location for a quiet getaway.
The house is situated only feet away from the tidal Benjamin River. Water views are possible from three sides of the house. The open-floor plan includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room. The entire house is tiled, with radiant heat to ensure comfortable temperatures, no matter the season. The two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with twin-size bunkbeds) each have access to a full bath. The master suite opens to the outdoor deck. Total privacy and seclusion is guaranteed. Enjoy the silence and the dark night skies.
Sedgwick is a small village on the Blue Hill Peninsula. It's very rural and quiet. Blue Hill (a 15-minute drive away) offers restaurants and shopping. Stonington, a picturesque fishing village, is also a short drive away (17 miles; about 1/2 hour). Lots of opportunities for hiking, boating, birdwatching, beachcombing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or just watching the tide come in and out.
  • The cottage is well appointed, clean and airy. Everything you need to have a wonderful, relaxing time is there! Large views of the water from most windows is just spectacular. It’s quiet, tucked away and the foliage is so pretty. Our host was both considerate and non intrusive, yet communicated well, kept cottage stocked and had plenty of information available in the cottage to order food, sightseeing activities etc. even binoculars!!

  • Spent a wonderful winter vacation at Anne’s beautiful cottage. We loved every minute

    Jeri2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful retreat, a beautiful winter or summer stay. The furnishings could not be better, and the beauty of the water, the elegance of the cabin, and the opportunity to see brilliant stars at night made this a wonderful respite.

    Sanford2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was very responsive and even reached out the week of our stay to check in with us. Unfortunately, due to an illness in the family we had to cancel our trip. Anne’s quick and very thorough response to questions was very much appreciated.

    Bernie2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Can't beat the waterfront location of Anne's place!

    Iona2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Anne’s cottage is the perfect getaway. Everything you could need in the kitchen is at your fingertips. Each room is comfy and cozy. We loved the warm tile floor on chilly mornings. Then there’s the view...oh my, the view! Gorgeous!

    Jeri2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay here. I love Anne’s cottage. Here my blood pressure automatically goes down. The beautiful and ever changing views, the walks on the shore when the tide is out, the quiet, the efficient layout of the cottage, the comfortable furniture, cleanliness - just what is needed to recharge the batteries. (P.S. if you plan to cook a lot, knives need sharpening, or bring your own). Thanks Anne. You are definitely a Superhost!

It was constructed with high quality materials in 2019. Rent our 125 year old cottage in beautiful Camden. Situated one mile from Camden Harbor and 1 mile from Rockport Harbor. Wifi, Cable tv, air conditioning, a spot for backyard fires and a large open field between you and the neighbors to the back. Fully equipped kitchen , washer and dryer in the basement and three bikes for guests use. We do like to let guests know that with all the charm that comes with a 125 year old cottage also comes a rather steep set of stairs to upstairs bed/bath.
Great location 1 mile from Rockport and Camden Harbor, just around the corner from a park and grocery store. Our dining room seats 6 and comfortable living room provides the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Maine's midcoast!
Pear street is one of the more popular streets in Camden, know for one of the most popular places to trick or treat in Maine. Many historic homes grace the street. On mile to downtown Harbor area and a short 5 minute walk to the supermarket. Merryspring nature park is just around the corner for a great spot to walk.
  • The cottage is everything advertised. We were warned of the 125 year old cottage as having the stairs from time period. The three of us are between 65 - 81 and all agreed that was fine as who goes on vacation to be in bedroom all the time except to sleep. What I did not put into thought is the one bathroom is up there also. Being positive people we decided that it was a good workout for . Would recommend to anyone.

  • This is a well appointed, cozy cottage in a convenient location, only a short drive to Camden. The house, situated on the corner of a quiet residential street and a busier two lane thoroughfare, can be a bit noisy with early morning traffic. The host was very accommodating and responsive to all of our inquiries.

  • This is a lovely 2 bedroom cottage in Camden, and is exactly as described. You are 1 mile from the center of Camden, less than 1/2 mile from the grocery store and within an hour drive from so many wonderful destinations. The cottage was perfect for myself, my husband and son. Well equipped kitchen, awesome washer/dryer, relaxing deck, fire pit, comfortable living room, nice linens/towels, and easy access to home with key pad. Communication with David was quick and easy. This was a great experience and we highly recommend a stay.

The "Crystal Palace" is a small semi-detached cottage connected by a bridge to the main house on our property. The property sits on 10 acres of land at the foot of Mt. Battie and there are hiking opportunities right out the back door. The kitchenette has cooking facilities available to cook breakfast and the occasional meal. (No dishwasher) There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a fold out bed in the living room, but it is definitely a one bedroom dwelling.
The Crystal Palace is a profusion of flowers during the warm season - and a Winter Wonderland in the snowy season. It is at all times comfy and cozy, and is well heated in the winter, and has a small air conditioner in the bedroom for the occasional "Maine muggy night".
The Crystal Palace is a 1.3 mile walk into town, and the owners walk it often in the summer. It is however all downhill one way and all uphill the other. Once in town, Camden has a lot to offer, from award winning restaurants, to sailing trips in Penobscot Bay, events at the local opera house and some excellent hiking around the local towns and in the Camden Hills State Park. Your hosts have lived in Camden for 22 years and are very knowledgeable about the local area and events.
  • This was my favorite Airbnb experience so far. The crystal palace is such an adorable and cozy getaway with natural beauty all around and so many thoughtful touches to make the place even more special and unique. It’s a very short walk into Camden for those who wish to just get out and explore. I really enjoyed staying here and wish I could have stayed longer. I hope to come back in the future. Thank you for your kindness.

    Brandy2019-11-04T00:00:00Z

    Howard2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a lovely sojourn at the very comfortable and cozy Crystal Palace on the outskirts of Camden town, which was a great base for exploring the local region. Coming from Camden, turn immediately left after passing the "Addams Family" house (on the right). Wend your way uphill past the Bed & Breakfast, and the Pink House, and turn hard right at the BIG FLY. Be sure to ask Tim about the amazing life of the intrepid Jasmine Lawrence, born in Egypt, raised in India, and transplanted to Tasmania. Whether TG Lawrence is the grandson of DH Lawrence or perhaps even TE Lawrence (of Arabian fame) was not disclosed. But he is undoubtedly related to Errol Flynn (after all, everyone knows that all Taswegians are related ... even those who were not actually born in Tasmania) which also explains why today he has one foot in Australia, one foot in England, and one foot in America :D

    Jules2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Joyce were wonderful hosts who made sure that we had everything that we needed and were always available if we had a question. It was a short ride to downtown Camden and yet removed enough to be very peaceful. We enjoyed the warm hospitality, all of the necessities stocked in the kitchen, and loved being so close to downtown. And dog-friendly to boot!

    Rachel2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at the enchanting crystal palace and were enthusiastically greeted by Tim and Joyce. They were so kind and offered to help with anything we needed, of course the cozy spot was so well set up we didn’t need a thing! There was even a selection of puzzles, cards and board games which was so nice to come back to after a hike or during a rainy day. The location was very convenient, minutes from downtown Camden and only 20 minutes from Rockland. If we come up through Maine again we’d love to stay here!

    Abergavenny2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • If there were 6 stars available... I'd complain that I can't given 7! The crystal palace is a place to stay a while, a home to enjoy, a refuge to relax. The heartfelt hospitality of Joyce and Tim were genuine, and all those little details show that they really welcome their guests and want to make them feel home. Thanks for everything!

  • Just what I needed to get some space from City Life. Magic

    Carson2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Book, book, book! This place truly exceeded all expectations. The cottage is adorable and has exactly what you need with nothing more. My fiancé and I took advantage of the fire pit every night and loved to actually be able to see the stars. Lori is fantastic and supplied us an amazing breakfast and massage. I highly recommend taking advantage of all she has to offer! If unsure of things to do nearby there is “Sweetgrass winery & distillery” and “Beth’s Farm Market” only 10-15 mins away. We had a perfect weekend disconnecting from city life and hope to be back again soon!

  • A wonderful getaway! Hikes through the forest along a beautiful stream, hot tub under the stars, beautiful gardens, the best massage I've ever had, picnic dinners watching the sun set, and being lulled to sleep by the crickets. Oh, and the monarch butterflies everywhere!

  • Kate's Cottage is exactly what my husband and I (and our dog!) were looking for -- a relaxing place to spend the weekend. The space was clean and comfortable, and our pup loved running around outside. Lori had everything we needed for the weekend. We will definitely be back.

  • Lori is an extremely hospitable woman with a lifestyle I’m truly envious of. She keeps a well kept garden and a wonderful hot tub. The cottage itself is adorable to say the least. Definitely will be back!

    Machar2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kate’s Cottage is such a lovely find! A quaint cottage set back in the trees with beautiful sweeping views all around. Inside there are windows on all sides which makes it so light and airy. I recommend an eye mask for those sensitive to the morning light since the lace curtains don’t keep out much sun. But it didn’t bother us any. We very much enjoyed a fire outside our doorstep under the moonlight before bed. I definitely recommend ordering breakfast from Lori. She makes a delicious, hot breakfast with coffee and juice and delivers it across the field to your cottage. We had ours outside on the patio listening to the birds. It was the best way to start the day! If you have time I recommend booking a massage with Lori too. Both my husband and I agree she is one of the better massage therapists we’ve been to. We highly recommend this little getaway spot, and hope to return soon!

There is an AC unit in the bedroom. There is NO AC in the loft. PLEASE SPECIFY IF YOU PLAN TO USE THE SECOND BED so it can be made up before your arrival.

Three restaurants- Flatbread, Nina June and 18 Central- are all within walking distance. The Rockport Public Landing and beach is a 5 minute walk- with food truck parked for lunch most weekdays! There are great running and biking routes from the apartment.
  • Lily thought of everything to make our visit complete. The place was decorated beautifully, spotless and comfortable. It’s conveniently located to all the places we wanted to visit. I definitely recommend her place for your next visit to mid coast Maine!

  • Great place to stay. Super stylish, spacious, clean and great host. Recommend!

  • A nice second floor apartment in Rockport- handy access to everything in the area . Very clean & spacous , recently renovated . It’s right on Rt.1 which is very busy in summer but much quieter in the shoulder season , when we went . A good value .

    Mark2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights here. Enjoyed being able to cook breakfast and even made dinner one night when we were tired from our days’ excursions. The place was spacious for a couple. We did not use the extra bedroom upstairs which would work for an older child. Bed was comfortable. We appreciated the laundry right next to the bedroom and central location. Close to Camden for hiking and boat trips, lighthouses, art museum in Rockland. Beautiful!

    Karen2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lily’s place was beautiful and comfortable! Lily welcomed us to make ourselves at home and we sure felt as if we were at home. We would definitely consider Lily’s space again upon returning to the Rockport/Camden area!

    Stephen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Apt was darling!! Very clean but was noisey. But expected that as it was explained beforehand. Lily was very nice and thoughtful.

    Marla2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and clean inna good location

    Shannon2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Cozy space. Road noise is definitely an issue, but with the noise maker provided and running the fan it didn’t impede our sleep. Speaking of the fan, it squeaks pretty bad to the point of almost considering not using it. Airflow through the apartment is very minimal as only two small windows in master bedroom and two large windows can be opened. All of this considered I would still recommend this space.

Our house is on the side of Ragged Mountain with an open view of Penobscot Bay and the islands. We have 1 loft room, full private bath, desk and chair with room for your travel crib or use of our air mattress. The room has comfy twin beds, and a gate at the top of the stairs. A strong railing separates the loft, high enough so the room is not visible. (See photos) We have a young Border Collie/Australian shepherd and two cats. We are an easy drive into Camden & next door to the Snow Bowl.
Our living room is a beautiful two story open space. The kitchen is also a large open space. The loft includes twin beds, an easy chair and rocker and a full bathroom. Also in one corner of the loft is my sewing and craft area. Of course, I do not use this space when I have guests, but my supplies are in this corner.
We live in a quiet neighborhood with very little traffic. Our road is privately owned by the three homes on it.
  • Jan and Roy were very hospitable and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable when we couldn't leave due to the icy weather. They were "ambassadors" of Maine with their home decor style and blueberry pancake breakfast alike. The loft was quiet and cozy and the claim of the beautiful sunrise was not at all embellished - it was truly stunning. Their place has both mountain and ocean views - best of both worlds. Thanks Jan and Roy!

    Lauren2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and Roy are such kind-hearted, amazing and welcoming hosts. They accommodated our crazy schedules, told us wonderful stories and had us some amazing blueberry pancakes! The view of the Bay was breathtaking to say the least — especially the sunrise! Thank you to both Jan and Roy for our amazing stay in Maine!

  • My stay with Ron and Jan was great. Nice conversation , great loft , friendly dog and cats and very good pancake breakfast! I would definitely recommend this listing and would also definitely use this convenient location in the future!

    Daniel2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and Roy are the perfect guests. We enjoyed their company and chatting with Roy in the morning was a real treat. And those blueberry pancakes that everybody mentions... they are real! and they are good! We loved the house, and not just for the breathtaking view. It has such a charm and atmosphere that makes you feel like at home in no time. We will definitely go back, if nothing else because Teddy (the dog) and I made a deal :-)

    Cristiana2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and Roy were very welcoming, the beds were comfortable, space cost, woke up to a fantastic view each morning, and the blueberry pancakes lived up to the previous reviews!

  • Awesome little place! Very clean and cozy

    Lauren2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful, cozy place spot! We had an unforgettable time and this place was one of the many reasons we’ve fallen in love with Maine.

    Elias2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • HIGHLY recommend this place, very unique, very fun space, loved it.

    Trent2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! The schoolhouse is adorable, very clean and cozy. The chapel across the street adds charm to the area and the view from the little stoop. The bed is very comfy, decor is very charming--loved everything! Great local tips written with honesty, accuracy and humor!

    Sarah2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place was just as pictured, fun hanging chair included! The host were very quick with communicating, which I appreciated. They had flavored K-cups w/ creamer and sugar, 2 beach towels and a beach bag and big spray, shampoo/conditioner, all great touches! We enjoyed the Netflix and cute throw pillows! They also offered a sheet with local tips and a Arcadia puzzle to enjoy. They were nice enough to make up the upper loft mattress, but the ladder was tougher and steeper than I assumed, so we didn’t use it. It was about an hour and a half drive from Acadia, which when we went in mid/late September I saw a lot of vacancy’s in Bar Harbour closer. But, the price was good and the place was great, we appreciated the hospitality and nice bedding over a motel. Would definitely recommend!

    Emily2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loves this rental. There is everything you could possibly need from towels and linens, to a lifesaving coffee maker. The hammock swing in the living room was a lifesaver with our young son. This rental is clean, cozy and cute with a very open living room/kitchen area. We would recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Erica2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean comfortable place to stay. It is an hour drive to Bar Harbor but if you have the time it is fine.

    Veronica2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Truly unique little spot located centrally between Acadia NP and Camden Hills State Park (must see). The church bells across the street welcomed my 9pm arrival, great big screen smart TV and over all peaceful/relaxing setting. The type of place that, even though it's a little off the beaten track, the drive to and from is always pleasant with an additional hidden gem in Blue Hills just down the road.

  • Back here for the second time in a month. Fred and Nud are delightful hosts and the apartment is fantastic. Definitely one of the best places to stay in mid coast Maine....or anywhere else!

  • Beautiful space.

    Jonathan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The greatness of Airbnb is that it's possible to stay at such terrific apartments for less than a hotel and to also meet interesting and gracious people like Fred & Nud.

    Gary2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Fred’s place as it is close to all the local attractions, easy to find, and yet nicely secluded for a peaceful stay. Fred was an amazing host with tons of knowledge and really amazing hospitality that you just don’t find anywhere. Everything was sparkling clean and beautiful, will definitely be back for another stay!

    Matt2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fred & Nud are such warm and wonderful hosts of a beautiful space, which is even more amazing than the photos. We instantly felt right at home, but also enjoyed luxuries (i.e. all of the beautiful stonework, the amazing walk-in shower) you couldn't normally find at a hotel. We would love to come back again and highly recommend The Granite Chateau to anyone who has a chance to visit.

Captain Jacob's Victorian House circa 1854, newly renovated apartment, located on the first floor, with private entrance. Located in the historic town of Thomaston. Five minute drive to Rockland, ten min drive to Lucia Beach (Birch Point State Park). Within walking distance to the Public landing. Local amenities in the neighborhood, coffee shop, restaurants, hair salon, laundromat, antique stores, the famous Thomaston grocery store, library, parks, hiking trails and other great stores to check.
You have come to one of the best kept secrets in the world! Midcoast Maine is a fantastic destination year round. There are always events and fun to be had. We particularly love the look and feel of walking around the historic town of Thomaston. You can easily hike or drive to the top of nearby mountains, which provide great views of Penobscot Bay. There is great shopping in Rockland, Camden, Thomaston, and beautiful beaches along our rocky shore.
We are located a block from downtown Thomaston. The downtown has a grocery store, book store, gift store, restaurant, gym, clothing store, and small bar. Thomaston business district has ice cream and a nice movie theatre, the Flagship. Rockland is a five minute drive away and contains tons of museums, shops, restaurants, nightlife, a historic theatre, a ferry to vinalhaven, and a small beach. Owls Head is a ten minute drive and is home to a few nice beaches, the Owls Head lighthouse and park, as well as the Owls Head Transportation Museum. There is a small airport offering daily flights to the islands of Penobscot Bay. St George is fifteen minutes away with more great beaches, public tennis courts, a small ferry to Monhegan, great seafood restaurants, general stores full of love and charm, and swimmable rock quarries.
  • Maria and her apartment are fabulous. This cozy 1 bedroom has everything you need for your trip. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bed is very comfortable. Located in Thomaston, you can walk the town to explore or easily drive to Rockland, Camden, or Port Clyde. Maria was incredibly responsive to any and all of my questions, often responding in minutes! The next time we are in the area I intended to stay here if it is at all possible. It was perfect for my husband and I.

    Julie2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was perfect for what I needed on my trip. My goal was to explore the coastal area of Maine, and staying here gave me a great home base while I accomplished that. Great amenities and a great location!

  • Maria Jose's Captain Jacob's Victorian apartment was a dream. Cosily comfortable and sparkling clean, easy to access with lots of information about the area and things to do. What was so impressive to me was that anything you needed was supplied, from a first aid kit to candles for a blackout to beach towels and beach bags. Wonderful experience

  • Such a beautiful stay at the cottage! We were arriving late so I messaged James to let them know and the office answered right away and said the key would be there waiting for me, no problem at all. The space itself was so beautiful, spacious and cozy. That bed is the best!! This cottage really had everything we needed and had such nice touches, like the toiletries and the coffee. Not to mention, the proximity to Camden was really nice, as well. Hope to be back very soon! Thank you for the peaceful escape!!

    Erica2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and cozy and very clean. Host was easy to communicate to. The view was spectacular. We had someone in the adjoining unit and only heard the occasional plumbing sound. Plenty of space for clothes and toiletries. Because we returned so often after dark I appreciated that it was very easy to find at night with a well marked driveway.

    Trina2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at the Owls Head cottage. The place is fantastic. We got there after our check in so he left a little letter with a hand drawn map and my name on it. We loved the personal touch added! Kept the letter as a nice memory. Got to chat a little with James and enjoyed it a lot. Just confirmed what I always thought of people from Maine- AMAZING. Thank you so much for everything!

    Ioana2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • A very quiet hillside stay with friendly staff. The fireplace was an added bonus, especially for the time of year. This has all the convenience of being close to downtown Camden and Lincolnville yet still feels secluded from travelers on Route 1.

A delightful in-town home with views of Stonington Harbor. The house was recently remodeling this past spring with the interior/exterior being fully repainted, new appliances, all new bed frames, and new mattresses. The property has a large yard with minimal traffic, perfect for families or a friends getaway. You will be walking distance from downtown Stonington where you can enjoy local shops, artwork, and immerse yourself in the island community. We strive to provide guests a 5★ experience!
The vacation house can sleep up to eight people with four private bedrooms, a large living room, large bathroom, sunroom, and a kitchen. The house is filled with all the living essentials that you will need during your stay. It has been newly renovated in 2019 with a large 58 inch TV, furniture, high speed Wifi, Netflix, and a fully stocked kitchen with all new dishware. The house has a deck with a large yard to enjoy the outdoor scenery.
The neighborhood is down to earth, safe and peaceful. The perfect home base to experience everything this small fisherman's town has to offer.
  • A cozy house with thoughtful hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back soon!

  • Great place to stay in a great area. Highly recommended.

    Kim2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The house's location was perfect for our exploration of the area - we could walk to the main town area of Stonington or easily drive to Acadia and other areas of interest. We had an opportunity to meet both hosts and felt immediately welcomed. It as an older house with some minor quirks. We felt these made it feel more like a home. During our stay there was minor issue that the hosts could not have anticipated and was beyond their control. They addressed it immediately and had a solution quickly. I say this to applaud their quick response - which seems indicative of how they would respond to any issue. Overall, a comfortable house that we'd gladly book again.

    Chris2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This home was a wonderful place to stay while visiting Stonington. We were able to park the car in the driveway and do the majority of our exploring by foot. The beds were comfortable and the living room provided a great common space to relax after a day of exploring. I would recommend this home to anyone visiting the area. As a bonus the puppies next door are the absolute cutest!

    Leah2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • House is surprising large for the three of us. Upstairs rooms would accommodate 4 adults easily in addition to the two queen bedrooms downstairs. Nice location near the quaint small village. Beautiful views when walking around. Good facilities and peaceful setting.

    Paul2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend, loved walking down to the peir in the morning! Wish it was longer.

    Kerri2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific location for your visit to Stonington. Very close to town but in a neighborhood and not in a touristy area. The home is being renovated and has all new furniture, beds, bedding and linens. The old house has lots of light and charm. We were only two people and our dog but the house is very spacious and will easily accommodate more. Priscilla and Caleb are excellent hosts and you will love Isla and Oden, the Newfies. We plan to return!

10 acres secluded Mountain side cedar cabin.. Brew Pub on same property with 6 beers, wine, amazing food, live music. Hiking, lakes, Kayak Fish. If Sasquatch is booked, check Bigfoot Retreat 150 foot away, almost the same. Master bedroom /main level is separate from loft quarters upstairs. Custom built cabin all cedar inside, a cozy bedroom at walk in main level. Loft has 2 beds +pull out couch. Lower level / full bathroom with tile shower. Private road to top of mountain .
Mountain side cabin up 1000' gravel road good condition. Brewery on site but camp is quite private and separated by over 1000' of woods. 3 breweries in the area to visit and wineries as well.
Liberty maine has 985 folks here, we are good people and its a beautiful spot. 3 Breweries, wineries, lakes, hiking trails very close. Best View you will probably see for awhile, "million dollar view". Just 3 miles off Rt 3 on the way to DownEast, easy stop
  • Guy was great! The cabin is very well maintained, very clean and cozy. Guy is very creative with the decorations and how he built the place and all the nice touches around the cabin. We loved the idea of a sauna a minute walk from the cabin— just make sure to give it some time (~1hr) to reach the temperature you desire before you walk into it. Everything else was great! Guy was very responsive and he made sure we are comfy and enjoying ourselves. He also gave us good suggestions on places to visit, such as Camden trail which was beautiful! Their brewery has good quality food and drinks so make sure to visit them. It’s only 2 min walk from the cabin. We will definitely come back soon!

    Carolyn2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quiet, relaxing place for a getaway. The view from the deck is breath-taking- we went during leaf peeping season and were sure to wake up to watch the sun rise!

    Kristen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures just don’t do this really unique space justice —the view is breathtaking and the cabin is very cozy. Loved that we were in a very walkable distance to the brewpub yet when you’re at the cabin, you are still secluded and feels private. The host and those we met in the brewpub were super friendly — We definitely hope to return!

    Julia2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really relaxing and beautiful stay! Felt right at home.

    Michelle2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway for my husband and I. The views are incredible. The cabin is adorable and cozy. You must go eat the brewpub while you’re here. The food and staff were incredible. Guy was excellent with communication and answered all my messages promptly.

    Rena2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience in Guy’s cabin. Not only was the cabin itself charming and perfect for our family get-away, but the brew pub on site with delicious wood-fired pizza, great beer, hard cider and bbq, made our experience OUTSTANDING. I will highly recommend this listing to anyone headed to the Liberty, ME area.

    Molly2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Guy's cabin - it is truly a special place and you can tell that Guy has put in a lot of thought to make it a wonderful experience for his guests. Our only regret is that we didn't get to spend longer there. Check-in and communication were super easy. We loved that there are trails to explore right out the back door (thanks Guy for your work on this), and as everyone has mentioned, the view from the cabin is amazing. Having the brewpub onsite is convenient but set just far enough to still feel private. The food was excellent! Just a heads up that there's no oven (in case like us you bought certain groceries), but otherwise, the cabin has everything you'd need. We hope to be back enjoying the view!

Cozy room with full/double size bed (54"X75" or 137 cm X 191 cm), private entrance, private shower bath, a short walk from restaurants, shops, and town landing. Hosts are long-term residents with excellent knowledge of hiking, swimming, boating. Pet friendly. No smoking.
Our home is set 200 ft/70m back from Washington Street in a quiet, private location on a large open lot. The house is relatively new, built in 2000. The space was our home office for 10 yrs, has a separate entrance to a mud room and the bath, closed off from the rest of the house.
Quiet residential neighborhood, generally older but well maintained or recently renovated homes, close to fire and police station. In season, there is a farmer's market up the street every Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning.
  • This place is a real gem in a great location in a wonderful town in a truly beautiful state! The accommodations, price, hospitality, amenities, cleanliness, communications, and convenience were all second to none!

Step back in time to the 1920s in our rustic and entirely charming oceanfront cottage with gorgeous views of Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills! The cottage is off-the-grid, though we do offer alternative amenities including a double burner cooktop, small lamp and small fridge to make your stay very comfortable. Please note: bathroom facilities have a wash area, solar shower with claw foot tub, and outside porta potty. Be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean waves. You will love it here!
The 800 sq. ft., one-room cottage will bring you back to holidays of yesteryear! There are steps down the hill to get to the cottage with an open view of the bay. By day, enjoy the myriad of activities indoors and out; in the evenings, read by the light of the lanterns and old fireplace. (We kindly ask that you bring Duraflame logs only).
The village of Harborside is a quiet, friendly and kind community. Guests can live amongst the neighbors — going to Tinderhearth Bakery, Four Season Farm stand on Saturdays or Flash In the Pan Steel Band dance on Mondays — or have total privacy.
  • Wonderful rustic off-the-grid getaway in a beautiful cabin overlooking the bay. Heard porcupines and foxes in the night, as well as the sound of the water hittingthe shore.

  • Our stay was splendid in every way and the cottage itself is a gem. Whether we were hiking in the local nature sanctuary, enjoying the breath-taking sunsets or simply curled up with a good book in front of the fire, this experience felt like stepping out of the flow of time. The space had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. And the bed! Like sleeping in a pile of clouds... Audrey was an extremely attentive host, and even though there was inclement weather one of the nights, we felt that she was looking out for us and our experience. Perfect, perfect, perfect in every way. Can't thank you enough for sharing such a beautiful space with us!

  • This cabin is gorgeous! I was looking for a rustic place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Portland for a few days for my girlfriend’s birthday and this cabin hit just the spot! We were a bit closer to other houses than expected, but the cabin is tucked away on the hillside, so you don’t really notice it inside the cabin. The cabin is MUCH larger than I expected. We had plenty of space to roam about and relax together or separately for a few days. The fire place was everything. We threw a couple of Duraflame logs on and warmed right up while reading next to the fire. It was the perfect setting for a mid-autumn get away. We sat on the cliff side watching the tide come in, explored the Holbrook Island Sanctuary and had lunch at the Roaring Lion Farm. If you will be staying here, I highly recommend hiking the Back Shore Trail in the Holbrook Island Sanctuary and exploring the Bakeman Cemetery and the Hutchin’s estate. Excellent place to get lost in the history of Maine!!

  • Due to internet connections we had a communication issue at first but it was resolved. The space is special and we had two nights of the best sleep we have had in an Airbnb anywhere. The views were spectacular and the area, while very rural, has a lot to offer.

  • Nervous Nellie's Jams and Jellies is an ABSOLUTE must. As is the Tinder Hearth, be sure to call ahead. Audrey's cabin is a wonderful place, and was a romantic way to spend a weekend!

    Jesse2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a unique Maine experience. From the evening light, to the sights of the Milky Way, to the access to local adventure and food, this out of the way spot actually allows you to see it all. Audrey was immediately accommodating and quick in communication. She even loaned us a pot from her house to steam a couple of lobsters. Take your loved ones here. It’s an absolute treasure meant to be shared with special people.

Featured in The Culture Trip as the #1 "Entire U.S. islands you can rent on Airbnb" Oak Island proves to be the most breathtaking Airbnb Island, located off the coast of Camden, Maine. Best described as a vacation off the beaten path, Oak Island allows you to escape the everyday chaos on your own 23 acre private island. With panaramic views and wildlife around every corner, it's the perfect get away for friends and family with plenty of camping real estate across the island.
Oak Island is perhaps one of the most beautiful islands in the North Atlantic. Everywhere you look, is a Kodak moment. The lighting changes continually with atmospheric conditions as well as the time of day, making Oak Island a photographers dream come true and the nature lovers paradise. The great nature photographer Elliot Porter, photographed this area surrounding oak island extensively. Oak Island is approximately 27 acres at low tide and 17 acres at high tide with six different beaches located around it's over one mile of shoreline. There are several miles of hiking trails throughout the island. There is even a beach we call Skip rock beach which is made up of perfectly sized flat stones for skipping rocks. From May through October hundreds of different species of wildflowers are cycling through Oak Island has expanses of open meadows as well as spruce forests, sumac forests, juniper ,oak, lupine, beach rose and bayberry as well as gooseberries and cherry. The beach roses vary in color from Snow White to deep purple. Bald eagles are daily visitors and deer pass through from time to time. Oak Island has some of the most spectacular sunsets and sunrises ever. You can enjoy them on the 60 foot high knoll named Parkers Peak just behind the main cabin. Swimming on one of Oak islands many beaches is really amazing the water is crystal clear and very clean and very cold. If you swim in June, you are really, really tough as the water temperature is generally only in the 50s. By July, the water temperature reaches the low to mid 60s. By August and September water temperatures could be pushing 70 especially on a hot sunny day on the incoming tide. You can actually swim and enjoy the water without turning blue. Look at the upside, the water is too cold for sharks although you might come out with a couple of lobsters hanging on your toes. Speaking of lobsters, lobster boats pass around the island almost daily pulling their lobster traps. If you'd like to have some fresh lobsters just flag over one of the boats and get plenty of fresh lobsters usually at well below market price. And if you enjoy mussels, there are millions of them on the rocks. Best to pick them at dead low tide. It is best to clean the mussels after you pick them by scraping the barnacles off of the shells. If you do not, particles of Barnacle could get inside the muscle shell and it is very annoying to chew on a piece of barnacle shell while enjoying your delicious mussel. WE HAVE SOME NICE DRONE FOOTAGE OF OAK SHOWING SOME OF THE BEACHES. PLEASE NOTE THE CLARITY OF THE WATER ....... ENJOY ACCOMMODATIONS There are two sets of accommodations on the island for you. The main cabin is located on a knoll at an elevation of about 50 feet. It faces south, west and north. It is a one room cottage approximately 16' x 24' with a 10 foot deck running on three sides of the cottage. Inside the cabin is a gas refrigerator, and a propane cook stove and a small kitchen area. There is also a foldout futon, a sleeping area for two along the glass windows in the front of the cabin. Also a sitting area with a small library. There is also a newly built small sleeping cabin dubbed O.I.L.S. Oak Island Love Shack. The love shack, is right above the water facing east so you get those beautiful sunrises and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore while you sleep in the evening. It is one room about 12' x 14' with a queen size bed that is made from driftwood found around the island shoreline. This sleeping cottage has an enormous deck of about 15 feet wide on three sides of the cabin. Note: linens and towels are not supplied. UTILITIES Electricity in the main cabin is provided by solar. You must conserve power or you could run out. We have never run out yet but if you have several cloudy days and you're using a lot of electricity that could happen. There is a shower under the main cabin as well as solar Sun bag showers available. It's also just as easy to heat up a bucket of water and have a bucket bath. Also there is an outdoor toilet, there is no plumbing. Cell phones generally work fine on the island sometimes you may have to move around a bit to get the proper location. Water is collected in vats from rain. It is fine for showering and cleaning etc. but not the drinking. You need to bring your drinking water. We recommend those 2 1/2 to 5 gallon jugs that you can buy in the grocery store. GETTING THERE If you do not have your own boat we can arrange a charter for you from Travis with Fox Island Charters. The prices vary based on pick up location (North Haven, Rockland, or Camden). We'll put you in direct contact with Travis to schedule and coordinate your travel.
  • What an amazing place! My new husband and I are avid campers and came here for part of our honeymoon, and if you bring all the food and water you need, it is basically glamping with all of the fun adventurous parts of camping and all of the comforts of a real bed, fridge, and stove. Waking up to the sunrise in the Love Shack, exploring the island, eating lobsters, and watching the sunset from the main cabin was incredible to say the least. We hope to come back again soon!

  • This is an awesome vacation spot. Bring a lot of drinking water in case the rainwater runs out. There are new types of mosquito repellent and mosquito avoiding devices that help make this stay more comfortable. Brace yourselves for very cold water. Enjoy the total immersion in nature, starry nights, birds, wild flowers and beautiful sailboats passing by. This place is truly unique!

  • If you’re curious about the Maine coast and have an outdoorsy, rugged, self-sufficient heart you will absolutely love Oak Island. The two buildings are perfectly cosy, and our group of four adults and three dogs had ample room to cook, sleep and hang out between the two. Multiple beaches, rocky tide pools, and trails gave us plenty to explore and our dog still is trying to recover from all the exercise. We clocked a wide variety of birds (arctic terns and loons were highlights), a couple of seals, many live sea urchins, hermit crabs, starfish (look closely at lowest tide), periwinkles, and we think a porpoise. No blackfies, but when the breeze wasnt heavy enough mosquitoes in the thickets (none at the beach). Plenty of kitchen gear, a BBQ grill, and a few propane burners to cook great meals all week. Out in the sun it was pretty hot for Maine, but in the cabins the breeze and shade kept us comfortably cool. At night, The Milkyway and 4th of July fireworks from about six different towns on the horizon lit up the sky. Rustic, off the grid island living doesn’t get much better.

  • Parker's island is a piece of haven. Travis, who will bring you there with his boat, is super nice and efficient and the boat ride itself is great (Travis stopped on the way to point out seals and eagles for us). The island itself is marvellous. Trails go around it and, despite the relatively small size of it, the landscape and vegetation are varied and wonderful. We were there in mid-September, it was beautiful, the temperature was conformable (even allowing a short swim in the ocean) and we had no problem with bugs or mosquitos (which I understand from other reviews are there in other times of the year). The house is basic but super comfortable. Water depends on rain and electricity on the sun, so you might not have much of those. Remember to bring candles, torches and abundant water. There is another, even nicer, house a few minutes away but we did not use it as we were only three friends. We loved every second of our (unfortunately short) stay and would love to go back in the future.

  • If you are an adventurer who loves exploring Maine and loves islands, Oak Island is the place for you. We were a party of five ranging from 2 years to 71. All of us enjoyed the experience. There was enough to keep us active for the entire 7 days. Bring kites and take them to the meadow, bring your suit for swimming in the different beaches. Bring your blankets and sweaters for cold nights. Bring food to grill and s’more fixings for a fire on the beach. Bring your hiking shoes for exploring all the books and crannies. Bring mosquito repellent and fly traps! Leave your stresses behind you and welcome peace, tranquility, beauty beyond measure. Bring your stories for telling, your riddles and jokes, learn to bake on the grill! Bring your radio to listen to the baseball games. Bring your wonder and marvel at the night sky. We will be back! You come too!

  • A great place for an extended outdoor adventure. Beautiful views and beaches all around the island. A great place to find peace and quiet.

  • You will be amazed at the beauty!!!!!! I went in the end of September and the weather was perfect. Warm sunny days and cool crisp nights that if you were to go outside around 2:30-3:00 in the morning, you will see the Milky Way and most likely many shooting stars. Very little city lights to hinder star gazing. You will also find walking paths throughout the island. They will take you to all sorts of hidden places with breathtaking views. No lack of scenery anywhere you look. The wrap-a-deck on the main cottage is spectacular with an 180 degree view looking north. Distant islands like, Bear, Fling, Eagle and Great Spuce Head Island can be seen very easily on fogless days. On the southern side of the island is the,"Sleeping Cabin." This is the perfect cabin for a couple. Paradise!!! On those windy days make the best of them and bring a kite. The northeastern field is a great spot for a day of kite flying. But, on still days with no wind the mosquitoes can be fierce. Absolutely bring bugs spray with DEET. It's the only thing that works. Homeopathic stuff will just not do. There is no running water. The outdoor shower runs by gravity. All water to clean dishes and drink is rain water that is collected and held in large barrels. For drinking water, I brought a filter that I could pump the water from the barrel into my water bottles. Or just buy plenty of drinking water at Hannafords supermarket in Camden. For dish washing, I boiled the water in a big lobster pot just to be on the safe side, and there is plenty of propane to do this. There is a "Privy," or outhouse on the southern side of island which is a minute walk down the path which has a wonderful view during your private time. So bring your "Bum Wad." Toilet paper that is. Barney Appleton is your way out to the island. He will pick you at, "Steamboat Landing," in Camden with his lobster boat. It has ample room for all your friends and or family and supplies. Barney is a terrific fella and a wealth of information. The island is perfect in my view. I will do it again next year or even earlier. I hope this is helpful

  • We had an absolutely delightful time. A trip of a lifetime. Perfect set-up for 8 people or so, and an exceptional value. Amazing 360 degree views of the island and the bay. Non stop outdoor activities for children (teens), snorkeling, fishing, swimming, and more. Highly recommend.

  • This is our second stay at Edwards place, we loved sharing it with our grown children and our granddaughter.

  • Edward has a beautiful place at a great price. Much better than expected! I would love to stay there again.

    Steve2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures and description really don't do justice to how delightful the cottage is. My friend and I agreed we could easily move right in. We arrived fairly late after driving through the country. Wondering where on earth we could find food, I called Ed who suggested the general store in Washington. By all means, plans to get your meals there. The pizza was very good, the staff were friendly, and the some of the local folk chatted with us in the morning as we enjoyed a breakfast of quiche.

    Connie2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Edwards place was nice.

    Katie2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here! Edward voluntarily went out of his way to go back to the property and turn the lights on when I mentioned we would have a late arrival. We especially loved fresh blueberry pancakes at the cafe the morning after our stay. Thank you for your exceptional hospitality and beautiful home.

    Hilary2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The space was larger than we expected, peaceful and very clean. It’s in a lovely area away from busy streets and has fields and a wooded area you can walk through. The store is only open on weekends (as stated in the description), which looked really nice. This place reminded me of growing up without internet, etc, which was very idyllic for us. Ed was very accommodating when we had to alter our reservation.
