  • The cottage is so cute and charming to stay in. Karen and her husband were amazing hosts. As we got in, Karen showed us around to the beach and gave us insights of the area. Snorkeling at the beach was amazing. Lots of bright-colored fish by the reef. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed the decor of the cottage.

  • Great location, great cottage, great hosts. A real gem. Ideal for snorkelling, kayaking, enjoying the sea shore and beautiful sunsets. Encounter with dolphins almost guaranteed.

  • The Bali Cottage is a rustic, comfy space and hosts Karen and Ron are exceptional. They will bend over backwards to make sure guests are comfortable; the location is awesome, shady, and a 5 minute walk to Manini Beach. Everything you need is available in the cottage: coolers, beach towels, boogie boards, and toiletries just in case you forget yours! Go to sleep with the gentle sound of the surf... and wake up with the sun shining in your outdoor shower!

  • Stay here! It’s definitely more of a “glamping” vibe but so amazing! We loved waking up to the sounds of the ocean and wildlife. Very friendly hosts! The snorkel gear was awesome to have when we hiked to Captain Cook!

  • One of the most unique and memorable places I’ve ever stayed. Karen and Ron were very friendly hosts, who made sure we felt right at home.

    Bob2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough words to say how wonderful the Bali Cottage and Karen are. The space is AMAZING, the only negative thing I can think of is now all other Airbnb’s or even hotels or even my own home will all fall short of the magic that is the Bali Cottage. Karen is super communicative and welcoming and even walked me down to the beach when I got there, which btw is also amazing and charming. Literally could write a book on how much I loved my stay. Thank you again Karen for sharing your space with the world!

    Leah2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place! It has so much atmosphere and quirky touches. Kitchen had everything we needed and we spent a lot of our time on the porch. Didn’t miss the lack of air conditioning for our visit in November. We really settled in and enjoyed our 3 days immensely. You’re not just staying at a place, you’re really being hosted.

  • One of the best Airbnb’s we have ever stayed in. It was a perfect home to us during our trip to Captain Cook. Jesse and Lucia were great at checking in and making sure we were taken care of. We wish we had known about the roosters, we eventually got used to them, but the first night was definitely a surprise! I would recommend ear plugs to any light sleepers, but the (other) sounds of nature were wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to. I loved the openness of the living room; we really felt connected to nature and it definitely helped us relax and enjoy. The floor above can be nosy if others are walking around, but that’s to be expected anywhere you stay, really. But again, we really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again. Thank you for everything! Mahalo!

    Lydia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing, design and decor was one of a kind. Definitely enjoyed our stay here! Very warm and welcoming hosts

  • The check-in process was super smooth and the experience was pretty good :)

  • We loved our stay at the Mango Farm! Thank you to Heather for making us feel right at home!

    Lisa2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to kick off our honeymoon. Heather provides us with all the amenities and recommendations to enjoy our stay as a “local” - which is our favorite way to travel. The fresh fruit from farm was a plus :) We arrived after dark and check in was easy and the location was simple to find. Beaches, restaurants and markets were 10-20 minutes away. We loved being away from the hustle, nestled into nature. We miss falling asleep to the sound of the frogs. It was hard not to be emotional upon leaving. It truly felt like home. We plan to visit again :)

  • Such a wonderful guest experience at Jerry and Alice's Kona Magic Sands place...we did not want our stay to end! Everything you need for a wonderful vacation is included - from a comfortable bed, all kitchen utensils and appliances, very nice linens and towels and anything you would need for a day at the beach. It is hard to describe the views and sounds of the ocean...there were days we just opened the lanai and spent most of the day enjoying the scenery (and serenity). And after a day of touring, it was so nice to come back and just enjoy the ocean, pool and making dinner in their well-equipped kitchen. We would actually look forward to returning each afternoon/evening to enjoy their place and the atmosphere. Jerry and Alice are such sincere and caring hosts... they truly want guests to enjoy their experience. There were tropical fresh flowers waiting for us as well as bananas from their own tree! We were sad when our stay ended and hope to be guests again! A wonderful, fabulous experience! Mahalo Jerry and Alice for sharing your paradise with us!

    Shannon2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing views and place. We saw whales, dolphins, fish, and turtles all from our condo! Jerry and Alice were some of the nicest people Ive ever met, very accomodating and definitely went above and beyond. We are definitely hoping to come back and stay here again.

    Kelsey2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was very relaxing to hear the constant splashing of the waves, which sent us to sleep immediately! The Magic Sands restaurant was excellent, convenient and fun. Great to have an allocated parking space.

    Sharon2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry & Alice are the kind of hosts that you remember for years, their kindness and warm communication, they feel like friends rather than hosts. We will never forget the roar of the waves, the breath taking sunsets and the whales and dolphins daily transiting out front. 🐳🌊 🌅

    Darrell2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Jerry and Alice's condo. The views were magnificent - a perfect place to take in an ocean sunset. Was nice to be able to lie in bed and hear the sound of the waves. The location was great too, right next to a nice beach and an easy drive to any other Kona destination. Jerry and Alice were great hosts and provided all the info we needed for our trip along with plenty of suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We would love to stay at their place again.

    David2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry and Alice are wonderful hosts and their condo is amazing. I would definitely come back here.

  • Right next to Magic Sands Beach. Perfect location. We loved hearing the waves lap up on the shore each night. Perfect sea breeze blows into the apartment each day. Jerry and Alice were kind and easy to interact with. Highly recommend!

    Kailua-Kona, HI, United States

We are a nicely appointed condo in the heart of Old Kona Town. We are across from the Hulie'e Palace and only a couple of hundred feet from the ocean. There are restaurants, galleries, Kona coffee houses and exotic shopping right out our doors. Tax #: W70176163-01 Price includes state taxes.
This beautiful condo was just fully and expertly remodeled and furnished. It is new inside with sophisticated Polynesian accents. We are in the heart of downtown Kona on the island of Hawaii or "The Big Island". We overlook the oldest church in Hawaii, Mokuaikaua Church, and the Hulihee Royal Palace in downtown Kona. We are steps away from the pier, restaurants and special activities. This is the heart of the old village of Kona, literally in the back yard of the Hulihee Palace. We have one bedroom one bath with large lanai and a new kitchen, fully stocked with all the necessary dishes. Although we are in the core and center of the town, we are quiet because of the church as our closest neighbor. We are on the quiet side of our building orientated toward the church grounds. We have covered and secured parking in a garage and elevators from the parking area. Cable, high-speed internet and a new washer/dryer is included. This is truly a wonderful property unique because of its setting. Our building includes a wonderful pool and barbecue decks which overlook the busy Ali'i Drive and the Pacific Ocean. Step out of the parking garage and you are in the middle of our restaurant and shopping area. Prices include Hawaii tax of 13.42%! This is important when comparing prices because many people add it onto the posted price. WE ARE NON-SMOKING!
I just love living in downtown Kona. We are on the quiet end of the "strip" here along the oceanfront at Kailua Bay. It is quiet in our neighborhood soon after dark. Just a few blocks down along the waterfront are our nightclubs and late-night restaurants with daily live music. It really is a special place, very calm with many shopping, dining and night club options.
  • This unit has everything. Clean and well looked after. It’s in the heart of downtown Kona. Easy to walk the street for local shopping and restaurants. Ed went out of his way to get us special beach chairs that we asked for. We would come back to this unit.

    Caroline2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The access was simple, Edward always responded to texts and questions fast, and the area is right by the beach and a bunch of shops! Such a cool area with lots to do, right on the ocean. Will definitely be coming back!

    Gabrielle2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This unit is great...an ideal price in an ideal location. It was convenient to get to places, a wonderful unit layout, and an important aspect of our two weeks on the Big Island.

    Jill2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Edward was such a great host for us! We only stayed with him one night. Our flight got in late, but he was still responsive when we messaged him. He was even willing to work with us on our check out time so we could enjoy our day in Kona without having to lug our bags around with us. The place was stylishly decorated, comfortable, impeccably clean and easy to access. Thank you Edward for a wonderful stay!

    Diana2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This clean unit is in a quiet location that it very close to the waterfront as well as many shops and stores. It was comfortably furnished inside as well as on the lanai. Edward has stocked his place with many thoughtful items and was quick to respond to our questions. The underground garage parking was very convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Sharon2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and great host. After I realized that I had booked the wrong night he set me up with another of his properties at a discounted rate.

    John2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place has a great location right next to great restaurants and shopping yet quiet.

    Stephanie2019-11-14T00:00:00Z

Aloha and Mahalo for visiting my listing. "Pl.note that I don't have included the Transient /Ge tax ( 14.50%) in my price since it would reflect in the fee you pay to airbnb. I will collect it upon arrival." This place is nesteld on the slope of Hualalei mountain inmidst of coffee farms, from this cooler elevation (1200ft.) it is only 15 min./7 miles to Kailua -Kona, the nearest Beaches and Supermarket.
This downstair apartment is fully private with private entrance, bedroom has a queen bed, bathroom with bathtub/shower, walk-in closet. Lanai ( Porch) with view. Kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, electric skillet and electric pot, toaster, coffee maker, electric water kettle, rice cocker and a blender. Linen, towels and beach towels are provided. Free wireless internet, use of BBQ, car port. At 1200 elevation it is nice to come home from a day of activities at the beach to a cooler climate and quiet neighborhood to relax and watch the sunset from the lanai with view.
It is located in the midst of the famous Kona Coffee region, just 1 min. north from old charming Holualoa town with many Art Gallerys, a grocerie store, post office, coffee shop, and a wonderful outdoor restaurante (slow food). In just 12 min. ( or 7miles) you are in Kailua Kona town or at the nearest beaches.
  • A quiet space a little away from Holualoa Town, a large site with lots of fruit trees and trees. There is a two-story house in that space. The second floor is the host house and the first floor is the guest house. There are many similar homes around the property, in a quiet, relaxed and lovely area away from the hustle and bustle. Located at the foot of Mount Faralai and away from the sea, it is not too hot and cool. It's a bit cool in the morning and evening, so it's a good idea to have long sleeves. Rooms are clean and well cleaned. Cooking utensils are available, and there are rice cookers, microwave ovens, ovens, electric pots, hot plates, toasters, coffee makers, etc., so you can cook yourself without any problems. Since there is also a coffee mill, you can grind the purchased Kona coffee beans and drink it immediately. There is also a cartridge type water purifier, so there is no need to buy water. In addition, there are a lot of beach gear, and beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler boxes, snorkels, cool bottles, etc. were handy. The view from Lanai is a lot of trees underneath, the town of Kailua-Kona and the vast sea far away. Every day I spent watching beautiful sunsets. The lanai is large, so you can eat at the table or relax on the sofa. Rent-a-car is essential, but it is about 15 to 20 minutes drive to Kailua Kona, Keauhou shopping center and beach. Every day I went to KTA, Safeway, Target, Walmart and Kahaluu Beach. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the host lived on the second floor, so there was no need to receive or hand over the keys, just putting the keys on the table. The host woman is very kind and will answer me politely if I have anything, and I'm on the second floor so I can go to listen immediately. It keeps your private well, so you will rarely meet and help you only when you need it. I think it is the best location to spend your time on the Big Island slowly and comfortably, but I think it is a good distance for those who are actively moving to Hilo, Volcano, Mauna Kea, North Kona and many beaches, I went many times during my stay. Especially in the middle of the Kona coffee cultivation area, you can easily go around the coffee plantation everywhere. I stayed for about 3 weeks, but anyway, I found the location, environment, room and host to be satisfactory.

    Hiroshi2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Karoline and her dog Hano are lovely hosts and her place was just perfect for our stay on the big island! Karoline has a beautiful house and guest apartment. Everything was sparkling clean and decorated in a cozy hawaiian style. We cooked a lot and were genuinely surprised by how good the kitchen devices (mixer, pans etc.) are! The whole apartment is very well thought through and Karoline goes above and beyond to ensure that her guests enjoy their stay. She even provided us with fresh fruits from her own garden! She also makes her own soapes and pays special attention to the environment and holding a sustainable houshold. Hano is the cutest, a very friendly, goofy and even a little shy doggo that one cannot help but love. We also loved the view from the apartment. One can see the ocean and watch the most amazing sunsets whilest sipping on a cold Big Wave or Longboard. So, if you get the chance stay here and enjoy this beautiful island from the very best airbnb.

  • Spectacularly natural, lush surroundings.. beautiful garden, flowers fruit and coffee. A delightful place to stay where everything is thoughtfully provided for you.

    Mark2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Karoline’s place was warm and cozy as described. It has a neat view of the ocean, and the property itself is surrounded by lush trees. The house was stocked with amazing coffee beans, which my husband really enjoyed having. Karoline’s dog, Hano, was a cool hang out in the mornings. The place is conveniently located to Kona and other beaches (about 15-20mins drive). Highly recommend it.

    Rasika2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Karolines house is very charming and well kept in every detail, and with a beautiful view over the garden and to the ocean. Peaceful area and close to a nice little village.

Located in South Kona, this Kona Paradise home is a wonderful place to come relax, cook a nice meal and watch the sunset on our enclosed covered lanai. Enjoy our very peaceful 2 bd/2ba home. Pebble Beach is just a short drive down the hill ( 4 mns. with steep but secured central Kaohe Rd.)where one can swim and snorkel as well as hike the King's Trail along the coast. ( large parking at the End of Mapuna Rd- last lateral Rd. at the bottom) Hookena Beach is just 5 miles North and is often the location where the dolphins come to play. We are about a 20minutes drive through beautiful coffee farm lands, direction to the town of Kailua-Kona. Volcanoes National Park and Green Sand Beach is about an 1 hr to 1.5 hours South. TV: Smart Flat screen TV (,Flicks,Hulu,Vaduz,YouTube,Netflix..) Private Bathroom and King size bed in Master bedroom with views of the ocean from the lanai. Also King size bed in second bedroom. Kitchen is well equipped.
Kona Paradise is a very safe and clean neighborhood. Access to Pebble beach at bottom of hill is one of my favorite beaches. Parking : do take the last lateral Mapuna Rd.on your left. Sometimes ( only sometimes) it is a bit rough and the current is to strong to swim in , but one can always stay at the shore and let the waves roll you around on the pebbles. Very special and fun! Also some nice hiking along the coast line to the left and to a black sand beach,to the right. Some attractive wild goats around, inoffensive wild pigs and their little ones, cut and funny small green geckos.Best Sunsets and ( or) Stars from the beach. Magic Time ! Kaohe, the central rd. of Kona Paradise ,from Hwy. to the shore( Pebble Beach) is pretty steep ,but fully secured.
  • Great atmosphere and location. House is cozy, kitchen is nice, everything is peaceful and relaxing. Had all the swimming/beach stuff we needed and our two year old felt at home. Beautiful flowers and grennery and the sunset views were amazing. Highly recommend this place, and Guy was very helpful with tips on where to go and what to do. We would go back for sure.

    Jaryd2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What's not to like? I would give this peaceful home-on-the-hill a 6-star rating. Is it for you? Expect nights that are inky black with a heavenly star show. Expect utter quiet except for bird calls, the rustle of breezes, and occasional raindrops hitting the roof. And expect about a dozen friendly geckos who are amazing acrobats. You will find plenty of hot and cold water, lots of towels, a top-notch washer and dryer (but I used the clothes line), and a well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds, too. Porches are screened and windows open on all sides to catch the breezes. Oh, one more thing: The Hill. Think San Francisco. Nestled at the end of one of the cross-streets, this home is perched about 2/3 of the way up a hill. Drive down to the bottom to find a black pebble beach and the King's trail. Great to hike in both directions but bring good boots. Up top is Highway 11, zero road noise, and the highway will take you to markets, parks, and other beaches (20-30 min drive). Guy, Delphine's dad, did a wonderful job hosting, start-to-finish. He's knowledgeable about the area. And in case you are bilingual, il parle francais. Merci beaucoup! A lovely 9-day stay and wish it had been longer. 6 Stars!

  • Tucked away in a neighborhood, windows and lanai with west-facing spectacular views of the ocean, casual, comfortable fully equipped home----this wonderful place is just as it is described: Peaceful House. We loved it here!

  • wonderful place to stay, very secluded and quiet, great for a restful escape from our busy lives, we would definitely come back for another stay

  • What a wonderful start to our Hawaii vacation. The host, Guy (Dephine's dad), is a sweet man who sent wonderful warm friendly and helpful messages before we arrived. He provided excellent directions, and even told us where the local supermarket is, so we could get groceries on the way to the house. Later we benefitted from his generous tips on places to go, nearby beaches, bakeries, etc. There was also a number of books and brochures in the house with more information about things to see and do on the Big Island. The house was comfortable, well-furnished and very nicely and creatively decorated with beautiful views of the ocean from the lanai, the living room and the master bedroom. The kitchen was great with a wonderful stove and all-new appliances; great place to cook. There was a beautiful dining table near the kitchen, but we preferred to eat at the table on the lovely lanai that wraps around ¾ of the house with a big eating area & potential sleeping area where you enter. There were lots of creative little touches in the house, such as the toothbrush holder in the shape of a pretty palm tree. A stairway leads to an area below the house where the washer and dryer are. There is also a lot of snorkeling and other equipment the guests can use. We made good use of some beach chairs that we were able to borrow and take to the beach one day. We had a fabulous time at Peaceful House in Kona Paradise. My spouse took Guy's suggestion to put little bits of fruit on her fingers while out on the lanai, to have the little geckos come and literally eat out of her hand. (I was asleep in bed at that time; she told me about it later.) My only regret was that I forgot to do the same. It rained on our last day there, and in our rush to drive to our 2nd place on the other side of the island, I forgot to entice the geckos to eat from my hand. (The 2nd place had no geckos.) The place was wonderful and so was the host, Guy. He is very communicative and friendly if you want communication, but totally respecting of your privacy if you don't. I highly recommend the Peaceful House in Kona Paradise.

    Dajenya2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view! Amazing wildlife just in the backyard. We witness a family of wild pigs coming though on a daily basis and they were so cute! The geckos are also very friendly and I enjoyed the sounds at night around the house. It’s so peaceful you can hear every insect making sound. I loved it! Highly recommend sleeping with the sliding door open. :) The house is older, but I will never forget that view. If we come to the big island again, I would definitely considering staying here again. Note: the house is located in an area with steep hills. It’s pretty safe but our car did have a difficult time going all the way down And up to pebble beach.

  • Large house in a beautiful location. Lots of accessories for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling available. Unfortunately a bit out of the way and therefore a lot to drive. Hosts are super nice and helpful

Great location just off main highway. Minutes away from the best bays for snorkeling and kayaking. Property is safe and surrounded by electronic gates in the Kona Coffee Region. The room is furnished with king size bed and mini-ridge/freezer. There are 4 accommodation choices. Every possibility for your enjoyment. If you are confused, I suggest you click on my profile picture which has the 4 listings separately. Snorkeling gear is provided for your enjoyment in our beautiful protected bays.
Each room in the home accommodates 2 guests per king size bed with a mini-fridge/freezer for your personal items. Extra guests will not be accommodated; unregistered guests do not have access to the property.
Property is on one acre; totally safe and has entry via electronic gates. The local grocer, Choice Mart. Located 3 miles north of the home open from 5 am – 10 pm daily. Numerous other shops, stores and local restaurants are nearby. All are very good, reasonably priced, and recommended without hesitation. The house and property is equipped with plenty of private spaces. Free internet connections available throughout the property to allow everyone personal space as desired.
  • Gorgeous house with an ocean view which I’ll recommend to anyone who asks where to stay at the big island.

  • The beauty of the room and the entire estate is just like other evaluations. It is very beautiful and unimaginable. I hope that I can have such a home in the urban jungle. I think the owner is a very easy-going lady who is very considerate, but unfortunately my English is so bad that I ca n’t talk too much with her. I have to mention her baking skills here, and I will definitely not lose the other chef masters. Every morning, I eat the owner's cakes, cookies, and coffee, and with the excellent manor landscape, it really makes people reluctant to leave! !! !! Unfortunately, we were too focused on other attractions in those days. Quietly lying on the couch in the manor, listening to the songbirds and watching the sunset, maybe it will make people who come on vacation more relaxed. By the way, I would like to especially thank the roosters in the manor, and thank them for waking me up on time one hour or two hours before the alarm clock, and never let me oversleep. I think if there is grilled chicken, then there will be more than 5 stars Haha

  • I booked a room w/ a shared bath at Rhonda's place, and it was the perfect place to relax and get good sleep in the first days of my vacation. Besides the many amenities like a pool and beach gear, I appreciated the level of cleanliness and fresh towels. Rhonda also offered a guidebook library for guests, as well as daily treats. It was very easy to find, and a very comfortable place to stay on the Big Island.

    Christine2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in Captain Cook. The pool was perfectly warm so I was able to swim even in the rain. There are a lot of upfront rules which was intimidating but they are really easy to follow if you are courteous and considerate. Would stay again!

    Mary Alaina2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda is the best there is for a bnb. Warm, informative, comfortable. unlike some Airbnb listings, her space is NOT oversold. You relax the moment you get there. This is my second time staying with her a year apart and it is just as good. My only regret is not staying longer!

    Theresa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda's place is a little paradise in paradise (Captain Cook's bay is amazing). We especially appreciated Rhonda's hospitality, the comfort of her house, the view and the pool! We would definitively love to come back if we ever go back to Big Island again.

    Nancy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Rhonda is a great hostess. Like she mentions it’s close to the main road so you will hear cars and she’s in the country so there will be roosters.

The farm is certified organic and follows permaculture design principles. There is high speed and very reliable WIFI. The "House" consists of the top 2 levels of the house. These 2 levels are completely private to you only and have no shared spaces. It is an ideal layout for a couple because of the unique and oversized master suite. The second bedroom is small and does not have its own bathroom, so anyone sleeping in that room will either need to use the bathroom on the 2nd floor or the master suite bathroom. The ground-level of the house operates as an "Ohana" for up to 2 guests ~ and is an open-air lanai space, private room and full-bathroom. The ground-level is private to the "Ohana" guests and also has no shared spaces. If you would like to rent this as well (either for added privacy or if you want to vacation with more people), you may book the Ohana separately) Here is a link to the Ohana: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/118560?s=51

  • Absolute perfection! While the photos of the property are beautiful, the real life experience is even better. The accommodation is spotless, artfully styled and so comfortable. What the photos can't show is the serenity of the farm. I didn't want to leave, it's so tranquil and relaxing. You can tell the farm is loved and that love is infused into the house. Dinner on the balcony as the sun sets with delicious food from a local takeaway spot recommended by the host was a highlight of our trip. Thank you for the warm aloha, we hope to return again and stay for a bit longer.

  • This was our second time staying at The Mango Farm and it was absolutely amazing just like the first time we stayed :) Everything was well thought out and designed, in a gorgeous location with a fantastic view! We loved seeing all the animals on the farm and being enclosed by nature. The Mango Farm is truly a special place <3

    Amapola2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! Incredible ocean views, cool design, open-air feeling with walls of sliding glass doors and windows, spacious and open, and an amazing top floor master suite. Great proximity to Captain Cook (just minutes away), and close to other beaches (Two Step), and only about 20 min from Kona. Highly recommend!

  • It was incredible to have this place as home base during our stay on the Big Island. Loved the peaceful, retreat feel and the sounds & views were wonderful. Easy access to all we wanted to see & do. Hosts were easy to communicate with!

  • The mango farm is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. It was our first Airbnb Plus experience and it more than lived up to the title. It was huge, comfortable, and had gorgeous views of the ocean and surrounding Captain-cook. At times we even wished we’d planned fewer activities so that we could relax there!

    Ben2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is spectacular and very special. The architecture and interior design will live up to the expectations of any Manhattan architect !

    Brigitte2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is our 2nd stay at the Mango Farm Ocean View, we would have stayed longer if availability permitted, it's nicely located, easy check in, very comfy and spacious. It felt like coming home, easy in and out, beautiful winding roads to get their, very scenic. If we return, chances are we would stay a 3rd time.

  • A perfect place for us. Good location for all trips, very good facilities, everything was there. The road to the house is a bit steep with a big car. We felt very comfortable. A great veranda with a wonderful view. Mahalo

  • Very nice location. Far from the big tourist spots, without being too far either. The location is great, in nature. Melinda was welcoming and kind. Overall the experience is good. The cleaning is done, but the walls are dirty and the couches dusty and with cat hair. 2 cats live in the house downstairs; but goes upstairs (part which is rented airbnb) and he is able to open the door. I think some visitors let him in. My allergies manifested quite a bit. But hey, I would come back to this place without asking myself the question; we liked a lot. :) Really cheap for what it is!

  • Breathtaking beautiful view of the valley and ocean from the wraparound porch. Kitchen has everything needed for fixing a quick meal. The sink, as mentioned previously, has been well used but functional. 2 nice bedrooms with storage. Many amenities to bath area. Owner lives downstairs and will be readily accessible if needed. Enjoyed our stay

  • We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The lanai was a wonderful place for morning tea or sunset relaxing. The beds were very comfortable. It was a great base for jumping off into our adventures.

  • Really beautiful view! Spacious home. We loved having access to a full kitchen and made use of the stove, rice cooker, and coffee maker. Not as much wiildlife ambiance as other places on the island, but at night we did hear the occasional coqui or falling avocado. Driveway is a little tricky to get out of (on a steep hill, in the bend of a winding road). Would stay here again!

The Place in Paradise main attractions are the location, fantastic ocean front view, own entrance, and great accommodations. It offers you a peaceful retreat after a long day of exploring the Big Island.
An unbelievable 180 degree unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean from the Place in Paradise. Beautiful sunsets can be seen right from the studio. A full kitchen complements a bedroom/living room that has fresh linens and towels. In addition, coffee, banana, and papaya trees on the property. We provide complimentary fruit (seasonal), water, juice and Kona Coffee upon arrival. Guests have their own entrance and there is free Wi-FI. This is the dry side of the Island therefore, it is always sunny and nice at the beach. At night, the house and studio are at an elevation where it is cool. Topical Birds wake you up in the morning and Koke Frogs will put you to sleep at night. A mixture of tropical and horse/cow sounds can be heard throughout the day and sometimes at night. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown this is a quiet retreat for a couple who like history and like being close to beaches. Tropical beaches are a short drive away. It is in Honaunau, Hawaii and is 35 minutes from the Kona Airport, 20 mins. from Kona and 10 mins. south Captain Cook. Located in a quiet area across from the Painted Church (built and inside artistically painted in the 1800's). 5 famous beaches starting 4 minutes away from the studio : Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park - 4 min., Two-Step Beach at Honaunau Bay(snorkeling, diving) - 4 min., Manini Beach - 14 min., Kealakekua Bay/Beach: (marine sanctuary - snorkeling, kayaking, etc), Ho`okena Beach Park (camping, Kayaking) - 20min. If you want to go to more beaches on the Big Island they are there for your exploration. Being in the heart of coffee country we have the Coffee Shack (famous for all organic breakfast with fresh bread baked daily) plus we have our own local grocery store (Choice Mart) just 10 minutes away.
The neighborhood is friendly and quiet. The guest will be refreshed in the morning to tackle anything they want to do on the Big Island of Hawaii. The guest's can also rest in the comfort of a Place in Paradise studio.
  • Wow! This is probably my favorite ever Airbnb experience. Firstly Earl and Linda are great hosts, they provided tons of amenities, fresh fruit from their garden, snacks and drinks! Wonderful local coffee too!! The location is simply fantastic. If you like to snorkel/dive you are located about a 2 minute drive from Two Step. The location is less than 10 minutes from Ho'okena beach and the Captain cook monument trail too. This was great for us because parking at these places fills up quickly so being able to get there early in the morning is a huge bonus!! From the bedroom you can look out across the beautiful ocean views from the 3 huge windows. We would watch the sunset here most evenings and it was wonderful. The building is close to the beautiful painted church which is worth visiting. The night times were very peaceful, with the usual Hawaiian jungle sounds. We just want to thank you again Linda and Earl! We hope we will be back soon.

  • This is one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The amenities were amazing and there were so many things we’d forgotten that were provided for us. I was excited to see we could use snorkel gear left on the deck for us, I had such an amazing time! I honestly wish I’d have booked this place for my entire stay in Hawaii. I hope we can come back one day!

    Beckett2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, great view. Superb hosts. Looking forward to returning.

    Kay2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Best walk-in snorkeling in Hawaii is 2 mins drive, literally. You get an unobstructed view and a comfortable homey spot!! Def recommend, Earl is a good dude :)

    Jessica2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Don't hesitate for a moment to visit Linda and Earl. From their simple and atypical house facing the sea, you will hear frogs, birds, see the Milky Way, since large mosquito nets replace the windows. We will not detail the little food and other attentions, there are too many. More friendly and welcoming, it's hard to find. Thank you Linda and Earl

  • This was our second time in this apartment - this is a dream view! We love to listen to the nature sounds at night and during the day. The complimentary snacks and fruit are so good! We would come back any time. Our favourite place in the island!

  • Amazing place to stay! Beautiful, scenic, so many good things to stay. The mini house is really neat and I love that all the windows are screen, I hope to be back again in the future!

  • This was our favorite AirBnb we have ever stayed at! The cabin was amazing and it was so fun to sleep in the loft with such an amazing view. Shucheng provided amazing little touches. We loved that there were beach chairs, an umbrella, and towels available for us to use for our beach days. Don’t miss this place if it’s available!

    Rachel2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical! Every detail of the cabin is exquisite, and even though it’s a tiny home, it feels very spacious. It was such a treat to fall asleep to the sounds of the birds, sleep up in the sky and look out over the water while drinking my coffee in the morning. The complimentary beers, coffee and candy were a great touch too! Can’t wait for my next chance to stay here!!

    Cara2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Best. Stay. Ever. William and Shucheng built their stylish open air cabin on their beautiful farm and I could not ask for a better stay for my last night on the big island. From the most comfortable bed I've experienced at an airbnb, I watched the sun set over the ocean and woke up to the sounds of an awakening farm. So so great!!

    Tiffany2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place. Gets a 5 star from me but a few touches would have been better. Doesn’t have a microwave so nothing to heat food. Doesnt have wifi, or atleast we didn’t have any information on it. That was a little tough, my business in through my phone no network and no wifi made a but hard. Except that the place is super cute and waking up to nature sounds in surreal. Get a little cold but thats another excuse to stay closer to ur partner in a blanket.

    Kanika2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is so perfect! The views are wonderful, the cabin is so comfortable and beautifully finished and being on the farm is just great. Shucheng is an amazing host, everything we needed was available at the cabin, the local suggestions were fantastic and we had great communication before and during our stay. We hope to be back to visit again in the future. Thank you Shucheng

    Penelope2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 5 fantastic nights, in contact with nature, isolated but at the same time close to many attractions. the house is small but full of all needs, with extreme attention to details . The bed is large and has a wonderful ocean view. Around it is full of animals (roosters, pheasants, birds and sometimes pig) for us something special ... maybe not for everyone. Sushen is very communicative and helpful. We will definitely return.

    Andrea2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really unique place to stay. It was great to starwatch from the lofted bed and sleep with the sea breeze. The host was very communicative. Would definitely recommend!

  • We enjoyed our stay here and found it to be an excellent value. It is quiet and comfortable. It is accurately described on the website.

    Daniel2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous place in S. Kona! We love this lush tropical part of the island, close to some of our favorite places on this part of the island. This is a lovely space! Large, open and comfortable. Its quiet and peaceful. A great place to just hang out, or base yourself for Kona adventures! Ken and Myra are wonderful hosts, who have created a special place to call home on the Big Island. My wife and I have been coming to the Big Island every year for the last ten and have stayed at many places. This is one we will definitely be coming back to!

    Jerry2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent choice for a stay on the west side of Big Island! Ken and Myra’s place is perfect; spacious, attractive, fully equipped, clean, and well located. You simply can’t go wrong here. Location; Captain Cook is well positioned for all activities in the Kona area and close to those south of town. Ken’s place is very near groceries and an assortment of restaurants so you don’t have far to drive for necessities. Tip; try the fruit stand across the road from the Choice Mart. Comfort; Ken and Myra were friendly and hospitable. They were readily available (living upstairs), but careful to respect our privacy (we hardly knew they were there). The house is even nicer than it appears in the photos. The spacious layout is well designed, allowing plenty of options for sitting to enjoy the place and spectacular environment. The huge bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied, spacious, and well organized. The ventilation was perfect to adjust for warm days and cool nights. Conveniences; everything imaginable in a BnB was provided. There were so many small touches that made it clear Ken and Myra give a lot of thought to the needs of their guests. There was even a set of snorkeling gear available; very good quality, not “loaner” gear. Basic consumables were numerous; kitchen and bath. Complete sets of towels, including beach towels, were provided. How can you beat perfection? We had a fabulous time.

    Tom2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is the largest Airbnb space we have ever had! The whole bottom floor of Kenneth's home was devoted to the rental and we were surprised at how large the space was, with a huge living room, a large open galley kitchen and a spacious bedroom. The large private lanai was a particular delight; at night the bird and frog calls were lovely and we stayed up late listening to them and enjoying the warm night air. Kenneth was very responsive as a host, though we were quite independent. We had 4 wonderful days driving around the Captain Cook area, exploring the great beaches and coast highway. The Bayview Coffee Company was close by, and touring there was another highlight. Kenneth provided supplies for coffee, and a great selection of drinks greeted us in the fridge when we arrived. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and some basic cooking supplies. We would highly recommend this place and hope to come back with our grown kids next time!

    Carlin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth’s place is located right in Captain Cook but very private. Surrounded by vegetation and lots of glass windows which create an open feeling. The living area is spacious and very attractive, the bed comfortable and the kitchen nicely equipped. Ken and Myra are helpful and personable and want to make sure their guests have what they need. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

    Karen2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for 11 days . Everything was as described. Great location cool at night making comfortable sleeping and warm at day. Close to many great snorkeling sites . Waling distance to local Choice Mart for most shopping needs . Walking distance to locale restaurants and hotel. That being said best to have a rental car for this location to get to many of the other sites like beaches , down town sites and attractions . While staying most locations we visited including 5 star beaches were no more than 1 and 1/2 hours away and most less than 1 hour driving . Approx 1/2 hour to the down town area a must visit. Ken and his Wife were very helpful with anything we needed and quick to respond to any of our needs all being met with in 30 mins . Kenneth's place is very spacious with plenty of seating in living room area with full dinning area for a setting of four . Kitchen is well setup for all cooking needs , we cooked eight out of our 11 nights and all appliances worked great. Bedroom is also very spacious and well laid out with the Queen bed being very comfortable . Bathroom Has a Huge whirlpool tub that we used a couple of nights. His and hers sinks making getting ready much faster getting out to enjoy the most of every day! If I had to give points for things to take note of that would be to take ear plugs as the night sounds are there all night FROGS are with you every night . After the first night we had no problem adjusting to them but for some this could pose a problem so worth mentioning . We found them soothing and closing all windows worked well with us . Cheap set of ear plugs would do the trick ! We love to BBQ and there is none at this location however a small George Foreman grill is provided. With all this said we would definitely recommend this place to others and when returning will consider staying again. Big Thank You goes out to Ken and his Wife for making our first visit to Hawaii the BEST !!

    Tim2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, although owner lives above, I still had privacy.

    Andres2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great apartment with a superior host. Very close to the best snorkeling spots and good access to Kailua-Kona and the airport. For two people the apartment is spacious. It is also fully equipped. Ken and Myra are very gracious and helpful without being obtrusive. Highly recommended.

The apartment has its own private entry and is equipped with a kitchenette, gas stove, microwave, toaster oven, and full size fridge. Spacious bathroom with standing shower and we provide all the basic amenities such as towels, wash cloths, shampoo/ conditioner, soap. All the things that we know we appreciate while traveling.
Historic Napo'opo'o is a small fishing village located in Kealakekua Bay, popularly known for being the location of the Captain Cook monument and for its protected waters that house a plethora of marine life to view daily. Kealakekua Bay is a marine sanctuary so there is no fishing aloud in the bay but your likely to find dolphins breaking these rules and enjoying the calm protected waters daily. The neighborhood of Napo'opo'o is connected by a simple system of one lane roads, please drive slowly through the neighborhood and watch for kids and locals pets at play.
  • Good little spot perfect little base camp for adventures. Skip big snorkel tours, rent a kayak from the two opperators at Manni beach (Ehu & Kai) very reasonable and only 5 min walk away. Getting in and out of the bay and in and out of the kayak much easier then anticipated. Would stay here again!

  • Fantastic location! Be aware of the many steps up, use handrail. Kai’s Dad helped us to get parked in proper space. The airflow through the top floor was great and we enjoyed the bird song in the morning. Very clean and plenty of room.

    Ruth2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The equipment was complete except that it lacked some information to operate the devices: ex: television, we had trouble getting it to work. Then the breaker jumped when the toaster was operated and the coffee maker was operating; same thing for the kitchen light.

    Michel2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Hale Kai is the perfect launching and landing pad for Kealakekua Bay adventures. You're steps away from the precious community-run Manini Beach, which offers a small channel into the bay ... as well as all the kayak/SUP rental companies (we used Ehu & Kai, Adventures in Paradise). We rose before light each day to enjoy the reefs before the crowds arrive at 10am. The hale met all our needs, including a coffee grinder, small french press, and drip machine to enjoy your fresh Kona coffee. We also appreciated the small stereo system with a plug for your audio device. The bed was soft and comfy. Two futons provided a place to nap after long mornings on the water. Floor to ceiling screens line each end of the hale, which provide good air circulation (lots of fans of you need em). Trees and palms provide a tropical vibe and plenty of privacy. They're also a reminder that you're in the jungle ... and thus amidst all the creatures in it! Overall, we really enjoyed the old skool feel and enjoyed our short stay at the "little tin shack in Healakekua Bay, Hawaii." Mahalo!

    Robert2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is the top floor of a little A frame. A sweet spot, walking distance to the beach park and kayak rental. Quiet little town, off the beaten path. Bring groceries to avoid a trip back up the hill.

    Kim2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here in Captain Cook. We loved being steps from the beach. The room was excellent We had no issues with our stay and would love to come back!

    Caroline2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place. So close to one of my favorite beaches on the big island. Kai was so helpful and made our stay easy and comfortable. Already planning my return trip!

  • Location is awesome! Very close to kayak access to excellent snorkeling in the bay near Captain Cook monument. We rented a 2 person kayak right from a launch site just to the left of the bay from a company called Ehu & Kai. Also just a quick drive away from excellent snorkeling at two step.

  • The Plumeria Cottage was fantastic for a stay with our small family. Sandy’s property is beyond gorgeous - lush and green, with plenty of privacy and a fabulous view from the cottage. Sandy was an excellent host - quick to reply to any of our questions and accessible for anything during our stay. The cottage itself was cute, very clean, and stocked with anything you need for a trip! Highly recommend staying here!

    Erin2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Sandy's place and wish we could have stayed longer. Captain Cook is a great jumping off point for the West side of the Big Island, this place is conveniently located about 2 miles from the Captain Cook snorkeling trail. Plumeria Cottage is located next to Sandy's main home but still felt private. It has wonderful views of the ocean and sunset. The place was spotless and tastefully decorated. The washer and dryer proved to be very helpful as well. Sandy provides beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear. Don't miss out on this wonderful spot!

  • The cottage is beautiful and in a quiet location with an amazing view of the ocean. We enjoyed the sunsets from the lanai. Sandy & Bruce take pride in their cottage. It's so clean and they include a lot of special touches to make your stay comfortable. Sandy was a gracious host and gave us helpful island tips. If you are looking to get away from the hustle of town this is your place. It's truly a piece of paradise!

  • This is a very sweet little cottage In a lush tropical setting with a lovely view of the ocean. The decor is very tasteful with thoughtful touches everywhere. The linens and towels were good quality and the place was clean as a whistle. Sandy and Bruce were very friendly, attentive hosts and made us feel very welcome. If we return to Hawaii, this is where we would stay again.

    Diane2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning place - highly recommend to everyone

    Tara2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this cottage! The property is beautiful and we loved meeting Sandy and her two adorable dogs. The cottage was extremely clean (I’m not sure how it is even possible to keep a house that clean in that type of climate!). There were all sorts of little extras: earplugs and flashlight by the bed, first aid kid and emergency info clearly posted, ziplocks/plastic wrap, beach towels/chairs/snorkel gear, and the list goes on and on. Sandy met us at check in and then let us have our privacy. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return.

We are located in a rural, tropical agricultural zone in the heart of Kona coffee and tropical fruit farmlands. With very little disturbance from light and with the wide view of the sky, viewing stars or watching the moon rise over the mountain and set over the ocean is amazing. Our area has access to beautiful beaches, hikes, snorkeling, and is near the Puʻuhonua o Hoʻnaunau National Park. We also encourage guests to visit our local restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. There are the typical day time sounds of an active, working farm with operating farm equipment, processing of agricultural products, and often hold educational tours/workshops. The night time is also active with the sounds of cocqui frogs, roosters, and other farm animals from neighboring farms.
  • We had an amazing time at the cozy tea house. The farm is beautiful and has amazing amenities. We would recommend this place to anyone.

    Emily2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly hosts, fun property full of fruits and animals. Recommended!

    Eli2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such an incredible stay!! From the farm fresh fruit breakfast every am, to the outdoor shower (skeptical about this prior, but loved it instantly) , to the total privacy and seclusion in nature (birds, flowers, greenery) , this place was one of our highlights of our 3 week trip through the islands. The space is a lot bigger than expected, we did our morning yoga inside and had ample space for 2 adults to do so. The bed is comfortable, and large. Angela, was extremely helpful, and explained clearly how to enjoy this off the grid space to its fullest. Of note, it is very accessible, just 1-2 minutes off the main road, but you feel very secluded. Would recommend 100%, and hopefully will be able to be back again for a visit!

    Julian2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay and enjoy the sunset views that are unique. The tea house was our favorite stay here in big island by far. We absolutely recommend it!!

  • We had a thoroughly lovely and relaxing week at Honaunau Farm Wellness Retreat. We stayed in the Tea House and it was well suited for us. Our host was extremely helpful, accommodating and easy to reach. We enjoyed access to the yoga room and their generosity with produce from the farm was an extra treat. We definitely recommend and will return on our next trip to the big island.

Laid back, retro-inspired and uber comfy, this unique place is perfect for those seeking a stylish, authentic Hawaiian experience. 20 min from Kona Town, the slow pace of South Kona gives you that much needed retreat. Deliciously warm breezes blow through your screened-in living space. Vinyl records, a classic cruiser and that shade of blue which perfectly matches the ocean water you'll be swimming in, gives you all the beach vibes you've been craving.
You deserve for your vacation to be blissful. You seek a place of rest, relaxation and something memorable. With this in mind, we love doing the little extras to make you feel special. Our goal is to exceed your expectations by providing an impeccably clean and comfortable nest at an excellent value that satisfies all your senses. SEE Nearly all the furnishings, bedding, kitchen appliances and dishes are brand spankin' new and artfully designed. You'll love the way the place looks, especially the ocean and garden views in the main living space. TOUCH We only provide high quality linens for our guests. The towels are extra plush, the duvet cover is linen and sheets are high thread count cotton, so your skin feels as pampered as the rest of you. TASTE We offer a garden of edible treats for your delight- bananas, lychee, starfruit, avocados, guava and more! We also provide coffee, tea and everything you need for cooking, including a BBQ! SMELL The smells of the garden and the non-toxic cleaning products we use, will delight you. We also cater to business travelers who rely on high speed internet. We provide beach towels, reef safe sunscreen, beach toys and a travel guide to enhance your island fun! Warmest Aloha!
The neighborhood is where many tour companies bring their guests to enjoy Old Hawaii and sample coffee at the nearby farms. The area is supremely lush and beautiful. Our nest is located in the most stunning area of South Kona's scenic corridor. This area has been the heart of Kona for generations because it provides ideal growing conditions for coffee and many fruits with its sunny mornings and moderate rainfall. It is the most magical climate where you don't need air conditioning or a heater year round. Even the wild chickens and coqui frogs agree, South Kona is the place to be! The neighborhood is full of ALOHA found in awesome coffee shops (Menehune is our fav) and great places to eat, like the Coffee Shack, Rocco's Pizza, Loko Wraps, Annies Burgers and Junjira Fresh Thai! But our favorite thing about this place, besides all the good food, coffee, history, climate, beauty, critters, is the underwater world at our doorstep. "Two Step" is widely considered one of the world's premier snorkeling and dive sites. Free divers converge from all over the world to visit our waters. Tour companies from Kona pack people in boats to come to our local swimming spot. Staying here, you'll be a short drive to one of the best natural swimming holes in the world. There are loads of reefs teeming with colorful fish, turtles and a local pod of spinner dolphins! Occasionally, we even get a visit from some eagle and manta rays! We can't wait for your adventure of a lifetime in this pristine heaven on earth we call home!
  • Great value. Fantastic hosts. Lower level apartment but the upstairs noise was minimal during our stay. Captain Cook is a great location if you want to be close to Kona without being stuck in a tourist trap!

  • We stayed at the Blue Bliss for 3 nights. Beautiful, small, well-designed accommodation with a well-equipped kitchen. Beach towels were also available and if you wanted you could buy snorkeling equipment etc. borrow. Contact by Maria and Shaheer in advance very friendly and attentive as well as many tips during the stay.

    Sarah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stop thinking about it and just book this place, you will not be disappointed. From the perfectly appointed (and stylish) kitchen to the comfortable open-air living room to the private bedroom and bathroom, Blue Bliss is one of the few Airbnb's that has exceeded my expectations. Walking in you can feel the love and attention that Maria and Shaheer put into this place. The location is relaxingly rural, yet close to all the amenities that you need, including plenty of beaches (the green sand beach is a must!), snorkeling locations and hiking trails. It truly is a wonderful place.

    Valerie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we had hoped for. Blue Bliss is an adorable little getaway close to Kona, but far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist central. We especially loved the record collection (the perfect soundtrack to celebrate our 15th anniversary!) and the fresh fruit that we could grab and go every morning. Shaheer is so welcoming and kind -- from the first moment we arrived, we felt right at home. Mahalo.

  • Blue Bliss was a home away from home for us. We travelled with our little one, who had such a blast playing on the property. Maria & Shaheer made sure we knew all about the area, the things to see, had clear tips on finding their space, and were always quick to respond. The fruit trees made for such a great way to start the day (these bananas are something else!), there were beach toys available to borrow for the day, and the unit itself has a spacious kitchen, an ultra modern bedroom, and an incredible sunroom that made for great wind down time (be there when it rains! It’s so relaxing!) We could not have asked for a better experience on our first trip to the big island. Instead of feeling like guests, Maria & Shaheer made us feel like Ohana. We know exactly where we want to go when we come back to the big island! Mahalo!

  • Highly recommend! Maria and Shaheer are so wonderful, amazing energy, cool people and made this little pad super cute and fun to call home! I can’t wait to come back!

  • Sandra's home was amazing, and she was a great host! She provides everything you need for a fun day at the beach, local tips, and fresh fruits from her garden when they are available. I would definitely recommend this place!!

    Cindy2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra's place was perfect for my stay on the Kona side. It's small studio with private entrance and bath, very clean, very cute, very quiet. It's also less than 5 minutes up the road from one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. Restaurants and markets are a bit further (5-10 minutes) in the other direction, on your way to or from Capt. Cook or Kailua-Kona. I had my own gear, but Sandra has a full supply of gear for snorkeling and beach play. All communications were great. Altogether a pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again.

    Roy2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra’s place was perfect for a couple in captain cook. The bed was comfortable and had a tv with Netflix. Although we didn’t use it, there were snorkeling and paddle boat equipment. The place had small touches like the “stuff” box which has emergency hairspray, ladies stuff and bug spray. Thank you very much for having us around.

    Rebecca2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We just spent 5 nights at Sandi's place and hated to leave. Sandi is a great host, always helpful, such as offering fresh towels before we even asked for them. We love the area, and the location is perfect for visiting the refuge and Manini Beach. Lots of thoughtful touches provided.

    Maya2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is simple and perfect. What you see is what you get and it's really all you need. It is clean and quiet and the extra gear/chairs/beach towels are very helpful. The dogs are a treat and Sandra is an extraordinary host. She really wants you to have a great stay and she will do what she can to ensure that is the case. The accommodation is only a 5 minute drive to one of the best snorkel destinations we have ever been to. It is also minutes from several fruit stands and other tourist attractions. I wish I could move in and stay forever. Thanks so much for having us Sandra and we look forward to staying with you again sometime soon.

Feel free to wander in the front yard and enjoy the view from there...or hang out ...great Star gazing ! Manini Beach is walking distance and so are kayak rentals! The best snorkeling is at the Captain Cook monument, across the Bay, Manini beach along the reef and fabulous snorkeling four miles South just out my driveway to Two Step and the National Park Puuhonua O Honaunau! • Great location, beautiful garden, everything you need

    Ursula2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place! Best of all is the location, a short walk to a beach park, which we made several times to see the sunset, and kayak rentals, which we did once. And then it's a very short drive to great snorkeling, which we also enjoyed using snorkeling equipment that Heidi happily gave us so we didn't have to rent any. The place itself was nearly as lovely as the location. Very quiet on a spacious property with a lawn set against the hills and surrounded by open space. Our unit (the downstairs rooms below Heidi's upstairs space) was also spacious. Quite the opposite of a spot in noisy Kailua-Kona. Finally, there's Heidi herself. She was there whenever we had questions. We enjoyed her cat and (friendly small) dog, too. When we ventured out, we enjoyed an area that has not yet succumbed to overtourism with many small and mid-sized towns nearby where we enjoyed locals-oriented restaurants and took an excellent (and free) coffee farm tour. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks, Heidi!!

    Bob2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • About a block and a half to the water and a great place to have your morning tea/ coffee. One morning Heidi came by and said the dolphins are out and I went to the water and sure enough was able to see spinning dolphins. A magical place and loved walking distance to Manini Beach Park.

    Lori2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi is such a wonderful host—our entire experience was Airbnb at its BEST. Comfortable, spotless, bright, airy rooms with beautiful touches, excellent kitchen facilities, and very peaceful surroundings. Heidi and her son Jack live upstairs but are so mindful of guests that you don’t hear them, and it was a joy interacting with them. By the way, if you’re looking for more space, she also has a 4-person whole-house rental on the property.

    Jon2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi's place is in a great location and she provides a very relaxing and welcoming space. We were very comfortable there and enjoyed our interactions with her. We look forward to a future visit.

    Lynette2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean and great location for snorkeling and enjoying the sunset. Just remember to reserve the holiday in advance!

    Kimble2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi’s place is in a serene, beautiful, safe neighborhood very close to the perfect beach for watching sunsets and surfers, fantastic snorkeling, painted church, Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National historical park, and a wonderful fruit stand.

Custom beach home with "no other guests" on the entire property starting at an incredible $160.00 per night! Yes, as guests, you will be the "Only" folks on the entire property during your stay! The Penthouse is over 2,000 sq. ft., and comfortably sleeps 5.
For all of you who are “On-the-fence” about where to stay in Hawaii, here are some helpful insights to consider... When it comes to airfare, car rentals, gas and dining... Everyone who ventures to Hawaii will pretty much pay the same "fixed prices" to visit paradise. The real "Difference Maker" on the trip is your lodging... Visitors, without thinking about it, spend about 1/3 of the trip where they lodge. You sleep there, shower there, lounge there, and prepare for daily adventures as well. It really is the "Home Base" for the trip! Keeping this in mind, your choice for lodging should be a place where you and yours really want to call home :) That's where our property, Living Aloha, makes a difference. For the value, we offer very clean and private, drop dead gorgeous accommodations that focus on comfort, relaxation, and a feeling of "Home" while enjoying your stay here in Hawaii. We invite you to view all of our Gorgeous photos and read our great reviews, The home is absolutely Amazing!! You and yours will Love it!!!!! Aloha and All the Best... Mik'a and Lisa (The Happy Owners:)
Beautiful beach village south of Kona. Full of Plumeria trees on every street with Million dollar views. Super quiet and peaceful.
  • Get lulled to sleep by the lullaby of the ocean . Wake up gently as nature’s music is the only sound you’ll hear.

    Marti2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Another amazing stay at Mik'a and Lisa's place. There is nothing quite like the view from their lanai. It is breathtaking. Lovely open floor plan for the kitchen and living room that allowed us to cook for a read and play boardgames on the rainy days. We had a great time and would stay again in a heartbeat!

    Marie2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning home in a stunning location. We were two couples and had plenty of private space in the bedrooms as well as shared space in the living room and the wraparound deck. The kitchen is well-stocked and there is a wide assortment of beach gear to borrow (chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling masks/fins). As others have noted, the location is fairly remote so plan ahead for your shopping. We recommend the Ke'ei Cafe for dinner!

    Alexandra2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • This home exceeded any and all expectations I had before arriving. The pictures don’t do it justice! It’s simply spectacular. The lanai and inside of home were spotless but also had a cozy vibe that made us feel right at home. It came with EVERYTHING you could ever need with beach supplies, two grills, coolers, beach towels, and a fully stocked kitchen. The views are breathtaking and we enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the evening watching the sunset. It was extremely quiet and peaceful with only the sound of the ocean to put you to sleep :) We loved that it was located near beaches and fruit stands but not so far from town if you wanted to make the drive. Mik’A and Lisa thought of everything you would need along with thoughtful touches. We are already planning our next trip to Kona and hope to come back to this lovely home. It was hard to leave. This is a must stay! Emily and Ohana

  • Beautiful house with great view of the ocean. The house has everything you need for an awesome vacation. Would love to revisit in the future!

    Ran2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I went for a personal retreat at Mika and Lisa's place. The place was immaculate, with high end touches everywhere (beddings, furniture, and general atmosphere of the place). For those who wish to be in or around the town of Captain Cook should know that the place is further south. Once there though, the setting on the hill, the views, and the place in general makes me want to return. Fantastic! Thank you Mika and Lisa.

    Daniel2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Dear Mik'A and Lisa, Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home. The views from the porch were incredible and I loved the mosquito net bed outside to relax in. Thank you for the binder full of local restaurants and for the sun screen and bug spray that you set out for us, these touches were very thoughtful. Thank you again. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Sincerely, Margaret Anne

    Margaret2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mika and Lisa’s home was stunning. A perfect retreat for our family of 4–secluded from town with a spectacular ocean view. Tasteful and modern finishes for an island home were a pleasant surprise. We loved our stay and highly recommend to all who don’t mind the 30 min drive from Kona.

Tropical Hideaway is a charming Hawaii-style studio apartment in a lush garden setting, with ocean views, a salt swimming pool with waterfall, & private hot tub--just three minutes away from fabulous snorkeling, kayaking, diving & dolphin experiences. The Hawaii accommodation tax of 14.42% will need to be paid upon arrival (there is no place to add it in Airbnb's pricing). No kids under 10.
The Studio has an ocean view (we are 2.5 miles above the shoreline) as well as lovely garden views. It features a covered outdoor patio with private hot tub, dining area, and gas fired BBQ. There is a new $1000 Serta Perfect Sleeper queen bed, double futon couch with memory foam topper, fully equipped kitchenette (refrigerator, toaster oven, 2 burner hot plate, induction cooktop, microwave, steamer and rice cooker, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, utensils, dishes, etc.) with filtered drinking water, plus an indoor dining area, cable, Smart TV/DVD, high speed wireless internet, and speaker with adapter for mobile devices. Cell service is available. A half bath and dressing area are inside, and a private outdoor shower (hot and cold water) is adjacent to the hot tub. There is also a washer and dryer near the Studio. There is a private yard with gardens, and guests share access to the remaining gardens and pool area with the two permanent residents and occasional guests. The pool is a chemical-free salt pool. There are two cats on the property but have never been in the Studio unit to keep it allergy-free. The Studio is screened in the Hawaiian style (no glass), so as to be open to the tropical outdoor setting, pleasant breezes and nature's wonders. We also supply beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers, some snorkel gear, beach towels and straw mats.
The neighborhood is in a peaceful, rural agricultural area, comprised of mostly Kona coffee farms, macadamia nuts, and tropical fruit.
  • We enjoyed the location in South Kona and the secluded grounds, including a private pool. The property is close to two step, which has easy access to some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island. I am looking forward to staying at Kathleen's place again.

    Victor2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen’s place was the perfect setting for our vacation to the Big Island. We wanted to be out in the countryside and Kathleen’s place was exactly what we had hoped. The house sits on a beautiful hillside and the pool area was perfect for watching the sunset (in February). Kathleen made fresh local fruit available to us and answered our questions about local attractions and beaches. We had a wonderful stay and we are very thankful that we found her place.

    Kevin2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice spot, great base for exploring two step and captin cook or just relaxing at the hideaway which has an awesome pool and hot tub. perfect for about 3- 4 nights. Though If you are nature adverse it might not be your thing. There were lots of friendly and beautiful lizards, mosquitoes were a little annoying outside, but my wife and I had a great time :) provided fresh fruit was a big plus

    Matthew2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable good location and loved the grounds. Very private and lots of extras like beach chairs, towels, shampoo & conditioner condiments for the kitchen. Loved the dipping pool and sunsets. Kathleen and Teri were wonderful host.

    Marketa2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • For those looking to stay in the tropical forest of South Kona, the Tropical Hideway is ideal. It fit my desires perfectly for a 14 day hideway putting me right in the middle of the glorious greenery of Hawaii. Kathy is the most gracious host making sure you have everything you need while respecting your privacy which is what I desired...to be right in the midst of the alive sounds of nature...while having the my favorite comforts...an outdoor shower, private spa and large comfortable bed...great for one or a couple. Plus you have everything you need to make meals. By the way, as you leave Kona airport, stop at Costco and further down the road, KTA superstore if you plan an extended stay like me and stock up. It is bit of a drive from the Hideaway for groceries. Because this is a nature retreat, be advised that you roll with the temps and weather, harmless insects, coqui frogs at night and mosquitoes activity at dusk and dawn. However for me, I love the coqui sounds, my evening lullaby, the tropical storm was incredible with thunder and lightning and pouring rain, minor mosquito bites were not bothersome and the handsome geckos guarded my hideaway from any insect that made their way in. I truly became one with nature and felt the pulse of real Hawaii on the side of Mauna Loa. And I haven’t even mentioned the Pele coffee plantation, Two Step snorkeling with the spinner dolphins and The Place of Refuge National Monument...all minutes away from the Hideaway. Mahalo Kathy for a most peaceful and relaxing stay in the heart of the Big Island

  • The place was great. Just what we were expecting. Private, safe and secluded. We added two nights at the beginning of a planned trip and spent the days exploring the Kealeakua Bay/Captain Cook Bay Area. Did the monument hike (take lots of water, lots). Carolyn was great. Met us when we arrived and gave us the lay of the land. (It was our second trip to the Big Island, so we knew the basics). Meets expectations. Highly recommended. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Mahalo. Ethan and Rebecca

  • This little apartment had everything we needed. We like to cook at home, and the kitchen had all the things necessary for us to make all our meals. The shower was very nice, but just give the water a second to heat up and you’re golden. We used the little grill outside to cook some salmon from the farmer market and it was great! The bed is fairly firm which we weren’t used to, but it was spacious. After exploring all day we spent our evenings relaxing in the little gazebo in the front yard. It was a lovely place and Chris and Carolyn were very nice to chat with.

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great studio! This was a really pretty little place and Chris and Carolyn are super nice.

    Drew2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was an ideal experience for us as a couple and we would absolutely stay again. It is a few frills studio with a great kitchenette and a clean bathroom. It is located in a beautiful quiet secluded place surrounded by greenery. We loved the proximity to stores and the beach as well as being a bit out of the way. It’s a very different experience than going to one of the big resorts and honestly, I prefer this. You have easy access to your vehicle and close access to a number of beautiful coastal spots. There is no TV which wasn’t a problem in this era of devices, but there was great WiFi. I would absolutely stay here again and had a wonderful time.

    Jon2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • I love this place, have stayed twice now and definitely will again!

The home has a wrap-around, expansive lanai with 4 areas:: 1) Alfresco dining for 6 people 2) Lounge with daybed style couch and comfy deck chairs for reading, enjoying morning coffee, happy hour, etc. 3) Comfy chaise lounge chairs for 2 people off a bedroom and 4) a morning sun bench perfect for catching the sun-rise over Mauna Loa. There's some sweet mood-lighting with fairy lights to add that extra element of magic. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 baths inside and a 2-person, custom lava rock shower outside next to the cedar hot tub. Spa Area: This is one of the most special parts of the home. Your own jungle spa with a beautiful cedar hot tub (7-person) and a state-of-the-art sauna that combines far, mid and near Infra-red technology into preset sauna sessions designed for relaxation, detox, pain relief, skin rejuvenation, weight-loss and more. There is also a 2 person, jungle lava-rock shower. If you would like, you can add to the experience and also book massage onsite via "Tao Within Massage". The hot tub uses a unique "structured, living water" filtration system and we do not allow bathing suits because they cause black mold in wooden tubs. Master Suite: King Bed with private bathroom / river-rock shower. Sitting area and private lanai with peek-a-boo ocean view. Need to jump-start your relaxation: step out onto your private lanai and chill in the hammock. You can even cozy up in bed and watch a movie on Big Screen TV, equipped with Roku (no cable TV). The king bed is made with high-thread count, 100% cotton white linens. Lanai / Garden Room: Queen Bed with access to the main lanai and hot tub area. Shared bathroom with bath tub. The bed is made with high-thread count, 100% cotton white linens. Farm View Room: Queen Bed. Shared bathroom with bath tub. The bed is made with high-thread count, 100% cotton white linens. Out on the Farm: We have gardens and tress and you are more than welcome to walk around and enjoy the farm. We have a delightful children's area with a playhouse, swing set, climbing structure and slide. The tricky part: We ask that children use it quietly in the morning before 9am, as others might be enjoying a quiet morning.
The home is one mile from spectacular Kealakekua Bay where you'll find incredible silky smooth water with amazing visibility, beautiful reefs covered in coral and exotic tropical marine life including spinner dolphins. Kealakekua Bay (meaning "Pathway of the Gods") provides great ocean activities such as kayaking, world-class snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, and views of incredible Kona Coast sunsets. There are a few beaches nearby, all of which have a different vibe and focus: Manini, Ke'ei, 2 Step and Hookena. Located in historic Napoopoo and centrally located 20 miles from the town center of Kailua-Kona, nestled among nearly 70 mango trees and is adjacent to Kona's oldest coffee mill which offers local fruits and confections. It is centrally located, 90 miles from Volcano National Park and 60 miles from the Kohala Coast. We have many recommendations for day trips to Northern hikes and white sandy beaches or other Big Island Adventures. (see guidebook upon check-in) The mango farm produces from Spring-Winter, offering some of the finest organically grown mangos on the Island. We also grow many different fruits including bananas, lilikoi, papaya, a variety of citrus, cacao, breadfruit, suriname cherries and avocados. We have vegetable and herb gardens as well... we provide guests a selection of what is fresh and ripe... Up the hill (Napoopoo), there are farmers markets (S Kona Green Market on Sundays), local grocer (ChoiceMart), cafes and restaurants close-by offering delicious options for cooking at home or dining out. We have many favorites and recommendations, like Kayas for fabulous local coffee and gluten-free treats and I'wa cafe for amazing local coffee and delicious pastries. There's local Hawaiian food nearby at Super J's for lau lau and poke at Sundried Specialties. We also have another rental house, tucked away in the mango trees on the property that can be rented separately. The houses are approximately 150 feet from the other, offering proximity but with a lot of privacy. This might be a perfect opportunity to vacation with friends and family while enjoying your own space. • Stayed here with my sister for several nights and wish we had stayed longer! Loads to do very nearby, but far away from the touristy vibe in Kona. Very clean with everything you could need and a relaxed, friendly host! Book at least one more day than you think you need to just to relax on the veranda or picnic at the historic beach down the road!

Aloha and luxury await you on a one acre farm nestelled in the Kona coffee belt. We have two suites with private entrances. The Lanai has a lovely view of the farm and flowers. Minutes away from great snorkeling.
Very large unit, over 700 square feet. We have snorkel gear, boogie boards, towels and chairs for your use. We also have a large backyard that is suitable for intimate events, if you are renting both units.
It is very rural and quiet except for the jungle noises. Extremely close to the best snorkeling on the island. Great views. Lots of local fruit production and the coffee!
  • The apartment is spacious and comfortable, from the balcony you have a beautiful view and can watch the sunset and the stars. Tina and Keri are very generous hosts, we were invited to help ourselves to fruits from the garden and the snorkeling gear. Thank you very much, we had a great stay!

    Laura2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tina and Keri's place was one of the best places I've ever stayed at through AirBnb! Their place was so beautiful and spacious, and there were so many thoughtful touches. I really enjoyed sitting on the porch every morning looking out over their huge garden/the ocean, and they provided an endless and delicious supply of starfruit, passionfruit, avocados, and other garden goods daily. They even let us go into their garden and pick our own avocados and had an abundance of snorkeling gear available at the property, which was super useful, as their place is only a 10 minute drive away from the famous snorkeling place Two Step. I can't say enough good things about their place and would definitely stay again if I were to return to the Big Island!

    Jeannie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing to stay at. It was so easy and so peaceful. It was away from all the hustle and bustle but close enough to everything we wanted to do. Definitely staying here if we ever come back.

    Todd2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tina and Keri’s place was one beautiful getaway! We fell asleep to the soothing sound of frogs and awoke to the soft chirping of birds. The lanai sits atop greenery, an amazing view of the ocean, & their farm. Tina greeted us with delicious fruit such as lilikoi and homemade banana mac nut muffins. And they also offer you to take some for the road! Their estate grown kona coffee was a great start to our mornings. Many beaches and activities are close by and they provide detailed information of where to visit while on the island along with beach gear! Would definitely recommend this stay to others. Thank you for hosting us!

    Melissa2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous accommodation with gracious hosts! I so appreciated getting a small taste of life in Captain Cook as well as the fruits and coffee from the property! Tina and Keri's guestbook is also very detailed with helpful information so you can make the most of your time in Captain Cook.

  • Had a wonderful stay here. Enjoyed staying up in the hills. It was cool enough to sleep well at night, and their property is beautiful. We also enjoyed eating the home grown fruit & avocados.

  • The studio was perfect for us with a great covered lanai to watch the beautiful sunsets. Having the full kitchen was a great asset. I'm a light sleeper and those frogs sure do peep, but I had earplugs which meant I slept very soundly at night. We had a wonderful time here and liked the location since it is close to some of our favorite beaches.

    William2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Ed was great and the place was very cute, with a comfortable bed. The deck views were worth everything! Sunsets were really amazing here. Full stocked kitchen was helpful. Area was really quiet. Didn’t hear our neighbors on the communal wall either.

    Erika2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Edwards place is an absolute treasure find and wonderful get away private secluded in the mountain among the tropical vegetation with a beautiful view of the ocean below. Unconditionally recommended to all ! (unless your schedule conflicts with ours when we want to rent it again ;-)😁.)

  • Great look location with very nice views.

    Peter2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Edward’s studio was a little gem, tucked into a quiet community with total privacy. One of the things we especially loved was stepping out onto the lani and sitting down at the table for breakfasts and dinners. The lanai looks out over the tree tops to a panoramic view of the ocean beyond. Each day was an ever changing ocean mood of sunshine, distant rain squalls and beautiful cloud formations. The studio was very clean and when we had questions, we were contacted right away.

    Rick2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This property, while close to the tourist vibe of the island, is not touristy. It is a small cottage with onsite amenities like laundry, all the mangos you capture :). The view is stunning and the hiking In the area is fantastic. We had no contact with anyone in person on our little road. The amenities were excellent with space to cook, watch tv, sleep, dine on the patio. This place is built to make you a part of the Hawaii experience and it does that smashingly. Thanks again.

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR VIDEO...(go to YouTube and type in "White Kona Whale House" to watch our video). The house is perfectly situated, close to both Kona and Kealakekua Bay. If you are trying to save some dollars and rent further south, beware that the road gets windy and what looks like a short distance on the map may be an extra 20-30 minute drive. Our brand new and beautiful 4600 sq. ft. (427 sq. meter) LUXURY house has two identical separate floors (2300 sq. ft. on each floor). The house is super comfortable with everything you can possibly need including a 6 person hot tub on the top floor lanai, and a breath taking 180-degree view of the mountain and the ocean. If you don't rent both floors (whole house) someone else may be renting the ground floor. The floors have separate entrances and are completely separated. If you want to rent the Ground Floor $223 nightly, check out our listing "White Kona Whale House - Ground Floor". The house is a perfectly located getaway, close to Kona, in a beautiful area with the old Hawaiian feeling just above historical Kealakekua Bay (ranked as #11 by CNN as world's best snorkeling destinations and #1 among the Hawaii islands). If you rent either of the floors, someone else may be renting the other floor. The floors have separate entrances and are completely separated. Half of the 2300 sq. ft. area on each floor consists of a covered lanai, great for enjoying your morning espresso while watching the sun climbing over the mountain top, or watch the sun set over the ocean while enjoying our 8 people dinner table when the chef is cooking on the outdoor grill. At night you will be amazed by our spacious 6-person hot tub on the top floor lanai while gazing the stars. With a fantastic 180-degree view of the mountain and the ocean, Kealakekua Bay to Honaunau, you can sit for hours just relaxing in our patio chaise loungers. The top floor has a beautiful kitchen and living room all in one while the ground floor has the same layout, but the ground floor kitchen is without an oven and a regular cook top. Instead it has a dual hot plate. Both floors have a microwave oven and a large Weber outdoor propane grill on the lanai. Both floors have beautiful quartz stone counter tops. You can cook in the kitchen and watch the 65-inch 4K TV in the living room at the same time, or have a drink and a snack at the kitchen island that seats 4, while you are watching the chef preparing your food. Enjoy your dinner on one of the two lanais at our big dinner tables which seats up to 8. Both floors look the same and are set up the same, but the top floor has 15 ft. ceilings. Each floor has 2 bedrooms with attached bathrooms with shower and toilets and walk in closets. Each floor sleeps 4 people (1 King and 2 Twin beds) and there is a possibility to put in one extra folding bed on each floor with memory foam (perfect for children). The living rooms on each floor have 65 inch TVs and luxury sofas. When you wake up in your bed in the morning, open your eyes, look through the big sliders and be swept away by the amazing ocean view. On each floor there are two bedrooms with two private bathrooms and walk in closets. At 1100 ft. the temperature is just perfect, 80 degrees during the day and 70 degrees at night. You sleep great at this elevation without an air conditioning. Our house is perfectly located in a beautiful green and quite neighborhood with an easy driveway and plenty of parking. Just minutes away from shopping and the best breakfast place on the island, The Coffee Shack. Your first day, you are most likely heading down to Kealakekua Bay, to snorkel, watch wild spinner dolphins in the morning or kayaking. Either way it’s a convenient 12-minute drive. Your second day, you may want to go south for 20 minutes and visit the sandy and most private beach of Hookena, one of the gems when it comes to beaches in the area, with great swimming and sometimes plenty of wild dolphins. The third day another gem is Honaunau National Historical Park (10 minutes drive). One of the evenings, you can drive 10 minutes north for fine dining at Keei Café, or just have great food at Annie's Burger, or continue another 10 minutes north for all the choices Kailua-Kona has to offer. Our house is a great base for exploring the Island. We love to go around the Island for a long day, or if you haven’t done it before, stay a night in Hilo to have some more time exploring the area. Driving around the Island in one day, starting at 6 AM, will allow time for a visit to the Volcano, lunch in Hilo, driving the amazing 4-Mile Scenic Drive through the rain forest, experiencing Akaka Falls just before sunset and then coming back through Waimea and Kona around 8 PM. Adding another day will make time for a visit to Hilo Zoo, it’s a blast for the children, and watch the lava flow at night. We always love to come back to the peace and calmness of our neighborhood and the house after a long day on the road. Going north of Kona to the resorts is an easy 45-minute drive, and will be fun for a day. Hilton Waikoloa is well worth a visit just to get the feeling of how nice it is to be back at the house! There are several great beaches up north as well. The largest sandy beach on the island is Hapuna Beach Park (50 minute drive up north).
The Kealakekua Bay area has always been our top pick of places on the Big Island. It's green, lush and beautiful and you can still feel the old Hawaiian culture. It's a great location for snorkeling, adventure, scuba diving and to swim with wild dolphins. The airport is 6 miles north of Kailua-Kona. Our house is perfectly located 14 miles south of Kailua-Kona. Kona Paradise is another 12 miles south of our house. Our house is close to everything you can possible need. Just 5 minutes away from a large grocery store. One of the biggest hospitals on the Island is close as well. Several ATM and banks are 8 minutes away. Kealakekua Bay, Ke'ei Beach and Honaunau, also called Two Step, are just a few miles away and offers great snorkeling at beautiful coral reefs, the possibility to watch wild dolphins and large turtles. You can kayak over to the Historical Captain Cook monument and snorkel at one of Hawaii's best coral reefs. The Coffee Shack is just a few minutes away. They serve great breakfast, lunch or just a nice cup of Kona coffee with award winning cakes you'll never forget. If you like to enjoy a really good massage to a reasonable price it is just a 10 minutes drive to Aloha Massage Academy in the small town called Kainaliu. In this small town you can also find a yoga studio called Yoganics, small shops and amazing Italian ice cream at Gypsea Gelato. Close by is one of the best restaurants on the Island called Keei Cafe, where you can get a very special dinner. If you want a great burger you have to visit Annie's Island Fresh Burgers. Kona Boys is also close by if you want to rent a kayak, surfboard or snorkel gear.
  • Amazing place to stay! Mikael was super responsive and an excellent host. Property was in top shape, stylish, super clean, and with tons on amenities. The view from the Lanai is out of this world. We rented the top portion of the property as the bottom portion was not currently available. Would come again 100%.

    Chris2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at this house! The view and house were more beautiful than we could have anticipated. The tips on local food and activities were accurate, helpful and great! We would love to stay here again. Mikael was helpful and easy to communicate with!

  • This property is amazing; the view is spectacular, house is bright and clean, location is great, full of gears, everything is perfect. Carola and Mikael gave us lots of local travel tips which is very helpful. It was a great experience . Thanks!!

    Grace2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous place! The description and pictures are spot on. Close to the grocery store is REALLY helpful. Mikael responded quickly to several questions. The view is outstanding. Actually saw a whale breach from the balcony. We ate the Coffee Shack (excellent) and at Shaka Tacos (excellent as well). We plan on returning and maybe booking both floors. We Facetime friends and they want to return with us!

    MIchelle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Waking up to the beautiful vista offered by this home every morning was an incredible experience. It was only matched by looking up into the stars from the hot tub each evening. Mikael was quick to respond to a few questions we had throughout the stay and went above and beyond with suggestions for local beaches and restaurants that did not disappoint. Friction free experience getting checked in and during our stay. Can't wait to come back again.

    Nathan2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and hosts! Our trip was awesome!

    Blake2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Mikael’s place is very nice. It is extremely spacious and very relaxing with an amazing view. House was VERY well stocked. Mikael was a good communicator as well. My one critique is Mikael wants you to sign additional documents and he sprang them on us at the very last second. They are not a huge deal but it would have been nice to have more time to read them over etc. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend the house.

Best snorkeling and paddling on the island!
  • Amazing place to get the real Hawaiian experience. Nestled amoung fruit trees high above Capitan Cook Cove. The unit is setup thoughtfully with all the right touches and Peter and Barbara are gracious hosts.

    Melody2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, just wow. We stayed at the little red cottage and we experienced real Hawaii. First time outdoor shower for us, outdoor bathroom, hearing animal sounds all night. The only minor hiccup for me is I'm a light sleeper and the animal sounds at night kept me from sleeping but I always bring earplugs for this reason, my wife had no issues sleeping. The space was immaculately clean, very well designed, and had all the necessities for a comfortable stay with beautiful Hawaiian vibes all around. We took plenty of pictures and videos of the space to share with our family back home because it was such a unique experience for us.

    Brad2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great and unique place to spend some time of your holidays at. The cottage is separated in four separate rooms (living/sleeping, kitchen, toilet and shower) all open and aired naturally, feels like your outside but with the comfort of inside! The cottage was sparkling clean and with all amenities you need. They provide beach towels and beach chairs. We missed nothing and had a wonderful stay.

    Jurgen2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing place and atmosphere, and view!! We had to extend our trip because we loved this cottage so much. So relaxing and quiet and full of nature. Totally adding “Hawaii vibe” to the travel! Drinking coffee at yoga deck was my favorite moment! :) I’d love to come back to this cottage when I visit Big Island again!!

    Maho2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The space is beautiful. Set in a beautiful garden on a hillside that overlooks the ocean. The space was clean and had everything we needed. Host was super helpful and attentive. Would def recommend.

  • Beautiful, amazing, relaxed. Perfect.

    Julian2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely terrific view, close to the best snorkeling on the island, great restaurants a couple miles away, so much character, very private — just like sleeping outside because of the screen porch idea. Totally loved the outdoor shower, cozy bed in it’s own alcove, and numerous decks with fantastic views! Highly recommend - we will return!

    Brenda2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved Peter and Barbara’s cottage! They are warm, friendly and helpful hosts, sharing special tips for enjoying the local area. We loved everything about the cottage set up. We watched the sunset everyday and cooked locally caught fresh fish and fresh greens and fruits every evening. The plants all around the property are gorgeous, abundant, and lovingly cared for. The cottage had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. One of our favorite Airbnb stays ever! Highly recommended!!

  • Our stay at Michael’s place was so wonderful! The hosts were very attentive to all of their guests. We enjoyed much time out at the lanai in the morning and evenings listening to the sounds of wildlife. We also spent some time in the hot tub beneath the stars followed by a rinse in the outdoor shower. The breakfast buffet, smoothies and banana brownie bars were delicious! The guests and vibe at this Airbnb were peaceful and welcoming. We would totally come back again ❤️

  • Beautiful location and rooms. Love the shower and the breakfasts!

  • Absolutely wonderful! Would stay here again and again.

  • This is one of our favorite places on the planet. Every moment here was a joy.

    Dan2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place with a lovely view of the distant ocean and surroundings. Host was available on arrival, but sometimes difficult to find during our stay. They say to call them anytime, and provide cellphone numbers, but cell coverage is spotty on the premises, so that didn't work well for us. The outdoor showers were nice, but avoid using them around sunrise or sunset as the mosquitoes will accompany you in force. The hot tub was nice in the morning when it was cool out. The other guests seemed very happy, but on our trip we had already stayed in other places that were similar or nicer, but for a lower price. Maybe that feeling reduced our enjoyment factor in some way. Anyways, nice place, but maybe just not for us.

  • Daily fresh baked goodies and the friendly yet laid back atmosphere make this BnB a true gem

  • We stayed here for four nights during Christmas, and it was just as we expected. We especially liked the outdoor shower, and the patio with the porch with the beautiful view of Captain Cook. Perfect for sunsets! We had the honaunau room with seaview, which is highly recommended. The breakfast was also great, with fresh fruits and baked goods. Would like to stay here again!

NANAINA COTTAGE. JUNGLE LOVERS DREAM AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD This is the ultimate romantic getaway for two with a million-dollar-view of the South Kona coast. It is perched on a rock cropping surrounded by mango trees. A one-minute walk along a jungle path leads you to this secluded setting.
There is a covered lanai (deck), and a few steps down a large open sun deck, with an additional simple bedroom if you prefer not to sleep in the loft (with a view). The cottage comes with a full kitchen (no dishwasher) and a washing machine. Be aware of mangos falling on the roof during season. Although we are within minutes from shopping, sight seeing & Beaches, getting to our secluded home can be an adventure. We are tucked away in a jungle/rainforest type setting and a 4 wheel drive vehicle is strongly suggested.
We are literally minutes away from Kealakekua Bay the location that captain James cook first set foot on these beautiful Islands. Once a thriving fishing village Kealakekua bay now boasts snorkeling, kayaking and swimming with Hawaiian spinner dolphins. Other points of interest in the area include Ke'ei beach, and Manini Beach. Not far from Kealakekua bay, you will want visit Pu'uhonua o honaunau or the city of refuge. This ancient place of refuge provided peace and safety during times of battle or unrest, rich in Hawaiian History and culture. located a stones throw away from two step beach. Although we are located on the same island that madame pele currently resides, we are about 2.5 hours from her wrath and not in any danger. Protected by Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, Blessed by the Kona trade winds that keeps our air breathable and clean, it’s still the best place on the planet.
  • We love this place. A perfect place in paradise. Just be aware if traveling with kids, the second BR is not directly connected. Have a 4WD to visit some of the secluded beach

    Bastien2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you want 1.) a fantastic view of 15 miles of Captain Cook coastline observed at 1000 ft above sea level, 2.) awesome sunsets, and 3.) a jungle setting comprised of numerous fruit trees on 2.5 acres of land, this is the property for you. We stayed for 14 days in February, 2020. The Nanaina Cottage is a private 2 story structure with only one other structure on the property. It’s a good idea to rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle as the driveway is rutted and is 0.2 miles long with a 200 ft. elevation gain. Hence the fantastic views. Pricilla and her support team were very responsive to any concerns. As the name says, it is a jungle lovers dream. We will be back.

    Mary2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot to rest and relax, with a complete treehouse feel and gardens to match! Great use of space, and great privacy with spectacular views.

    Sarah2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Place was amazing!

    Tommy2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The property and space were beautiful and quite secluded. Waking up in the loft to the breathtaking views of the ocean was particularly special. The WiFi was good, with a Jeep the drive to the property was no problem. The hot water is a little finicky but with some fine tuning it's nothing to worry about. We loved our stay here, coffee on the deck was enjoyable every morning. Our favorite local spots was "The Coffee Shack" for breakfast and "Shaka Tacoz" for a quick bite. "Ola Brewing" in Kona was our favorite spot to try locally brewed beer, cider, and Seltzer's. A fun day activity on the island for animal lovers is to visit the humane society and take advantage of their field trips for shelter dogs program, where you can check out a pooch for the day and take them on an adventure (beach, trails, lunch ect...)!

    Chris2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • First off.... totally take her recommendations for a 4x4 vehicle! The place made us feel as if we were in a lush jungle! The sounds at night were so peaceful! The views were absolutely phenomenal. What a cool place to stay at in Hawaii!!

    Tanya2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse cottage is incredible. The view is absolutely beautiful. Waking up in the loft every morning was truly a dream. The sunsets from the deck are not to be missed. Our family loved to see all the visiting geckos on the deck while we ate our breakfast on the patio. Whenever we needed something we had a very quick response and all of our needs were taken care of. Priscilla even included some of her delicious honey from her shop! The cottage is in very close proximity to our favorite snorkeling spot where we got to see dolphins, sea turtles, and beautiful fish. Much better than staying at a hotel! Do yourself a favor and book the cottage, you won’t regret it!

    Sonia2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Priscilla’s jungle cottage views were 10x better then the pictures! If you’re looking for a place with an incredible view, this is definitely it! I loved the hammock on the lanai and spent a lot of time there. The sunsets are amazing as are the stars at night. Would definitely love to come back and stay longer!

Open beams & split pitch roof. All stained wood. Brand new dwellings
Just built. Detached guest house. Polynesian style Detached with 1 bedroom and partially outdoor shower
Our dwelling is historical. It was built in 1944 by Greenwell Ranch to house their Paniolo (cowboy) workers. The site is approx. 20,000 sf and very fertile with much rich soil (not so common in Kona). The guest house is completely detached and a good 100 feet away. There are privacy barriers between guest house and main house and a completely private entrance. It is well lit with motion sensor floodlights at night. There is also a gravel driveway through our yard right up to the guest house if guest party is packing heavy suitcases. The neighborhood is fairly standard Hawaii style residential houses mostly inhabited by long term residents. There are no barking dogs. One can park up by the guest house if one wishes, but navigation is a little tricky. Otherwise, a space in the detached garage is for the guest. Our yard is beautifully landscaped (if I do say so myself) since my wife's hobby is landscaping
  • Second time staying here. This time with my adult children. We rented both units from John and had 5 total adults. You can’t beat the price or the privacy found at John & Nat’s place. The outdoor shower was the best! Nat’s garden was one of the most amazingly well thought out and well kept I have ever seen. It’s like a mini sanctuary for wildlife and birds. So many different types of plants and trees attract many birds and other small animals that live there. Kitchen was big enough to prepare meals in and there is usually some kind of fruit ripe on the grounds, in addition to the many very close, local fruit stands. Proximity to Two-Step beach was great! Best snorkeling on the island, in my opinion. We saw many different fish, turtles and even a 7’ Galapagos shark in this protected reef while snorkeling. I would absolutely recommend to ANYONE who is looking for relaxation and privacy at a great price. Mahalo nui Natalie & John for sharing your home!

  • May Rose Cottage is a beautiful place for a wonderful vacation. The lush gardens, Polynesian architectural design, and stunning walk in shower make staying in this rental a memorable experience. Being in the Captain Cook area feels private and out of the tourist area, yet you are amazingly close to services and a full grocery store. The bed is comfy and the ample decks and mini kitchen provide all one needs for a real Hawaiian getaway. A gem. Please note, there are stairs.

    Linda2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Just for the really nice veranda and the super comfortable bed, it's worth 5 stars. Do not miss Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling a two minute drive from this accommodation.

    Natalie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hosts and beautiful accommodations. Our honeymoon was spectacular, and we are truly grateful for the May Rose cottage being part of the experience.

    Jenifer2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, cozy, luxurious space for a visit to the Kona area. Very convenient to Kealakekua Bay and easy drive up to Kona.

    Christina2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place with a great island feel (the high vaulted ceilings are wonderful). Very clean and comfortable and very convenient location for access to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (the National park) and the snorkeling in the cove next to it (the best on the island). Comfortable bed and loved the open (but private) shower. Suggest you get directions from John as we had a little difficulty finding it the first time and so did the people who were staying in the bottom apartment (even with gps).

    Patrick2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Georgeous place in South Kona ! Close to everything you need yet you have the feeling of being secluded in the beautiful lush surroundings John and Nat have planted around the guest cottage, which is sparkling clean. All kings of flowers and fruit trees just everything. The located is peaceful. We will definatley go back next time we are in Kona !

Welcome to our 1-acre bohemian chic style cottage with Organic Farm. You will experience true Hawaiian Farm living. Located in 2200 ft misty rainforest, minus ion, serene, lush vegetation parts of Hawaii. Just below the cottage is wild organic farm includes coconut, cacao, coffee, banana, mulberry, tangerine, lychee, green tea, ohia, breadfruits and many many more. Overlooking with panoramic Ocean view throughout sunset from our balcony is stunning!
La Maison Blanche is a humble cottage style home, almost everything custom build, hand made in a unique way. it is a coffee shack that we completely renovated according to our taste but the house structure is old and has wears and tears. We have a master bedroom with beautiful lash green view, and we also have a large size lanai that you can receive gorgeous sunset. Very importantly, our place is not in the tight residential zone with resort area, it is much more open green and lush. I think it's perfect for people who are interested in experience "real hawaii farm life style in the Mountain side". We only like to accept guests who understand the beauty of nature surrounding living, which means who are ok with gecko, ants, spiders, birds, and other such all beautiful living creatures welcoming to you, in and out. *I just want to mentioned, we had various guests who gets really bother by insects and geckos coming to our home. We chose not to spray chemical to kill them like hotel do, so please be aware. The upper space has 2 bedroom include 1 queen bed, living room, very simple humble kitchen, bathroom, and large balcony overlooking the panoramic lush jungle view with sunset! Please note as some of our review had mentioned, our home is pretty open space as we need airflow as much as possible meaning that most of the celling are open wich makes it not too private for noises. i think it is perfect for family with childrens. but for some couples maybe feel no privacy. Its all depends on people's needs but i thought to mention this. If you need to ask me any question, i am happy to answer anything.

  • Miho was a lovely host with a beautiful home. The personal touches in the space were absolutely stunning and nothing could beat watching the sunset from the lanai. We enjoyed the fruit picked from their farm and all the suggested beaches and restaurants tips. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! Highly recommend this Airbnb and can’t wait to be back!

  • A beautiful bright space surrounded by farms, fruit, and animals. We loved our stay and the location. Close to a supermarket, farmer's market (Sundays), and great snorkeling beaches. I'm already dreaming of another trip.

  • This was an amazing find. Absolutely gorgeous deck, goats next door and the art on the walls is incredible.

  • You can't discribe properly how it is staying in the house in the hills. Just stay there and feel it...stunning!

  • La Maison Blanche provided our family with a comfortable immersion in local living. We loved watching the sunset on the lanai every night and the kids loved exploring the property and learning about all the fruit trees! The accommodations are extremely comfortable, stylish and simple - offering everything you need. Minho’s thoughtful details, local guidebooks, welcoming basket of fruit and lovely household natural products cultivate appreciation for all things Hawaii. Our thanks for some lovely memories! If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, surrounded by nature in a simple elegant paradise - this is your place! We will definitely be back!

    Tara2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location is a bit remote, but it was worth a visit. There is a return visit doctor

    Hunsub2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house with a spectacular view. Well appointed and stylishly decorated. Would definitely return!

    Stephanie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Aloha! If you want to escape the day to day but in the most magical place on the Island definitely stay here. The home is far better than you would expect, it’s more like a fairytale. Imagine the sea breeze waking you up with the morning to the birds chirping and roosters crowing. Then walking down to the garden and picking fresh fruit (endless amounts) for breakfast; it’s possible on this beautiful property. It’s not too far away from Kona and Volcano National Park so you can do day trips, however the northern beaches are slightly far away. We definitely recommend this place to either two couples or a family. :) Oh and the farm has a friendly Sheep living on the property! :)
