  • Great location and accommodation!

  • One of my best Airbnb stays yet and I’ve stayed in Toronto, Bali, Lima, etc! The place was a cozy salt box type house only a few seconds away from the water and the beautiful Fogo inn. I spent my days reading, looking out on the water, while hearing the snow blow ( ++ fast wifi too!) On my last day my car got stuck in the snow and Owens brother helped me get it out without wanting anything in return. Hospitality was outstanding! Would love to stay again :)

  • The location and scenery are unmatched. Perfect special touches, reflective of the culture and heritage of Fogo Island. Especially loved all the cozy quilts ❤️

  • A lovely home in a gorgeous setting! Beautiful views, wonderful hospitality and only a short walk to the Fogo Island Inn for dinner.

    Linda2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cute home to spend a night! Fogo island is unique.

    Darlene2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Due to unforeseen circumstance I had to cancel my stay on very short notice. Despite the inconvenience and lost revenue during prime time on Fogo Island, Jason was most gracious in his communications. Fogo Island is a bucket list item, so I am looking most forward to re-booking with Jason in the near future.

    Joani2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great, cute little house. Clean and modern while still keeping the area's aesthetic. Easy walk down the path to visit the Fogo Inn.

    Tricia2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We reserved this super cute property for our photographers to stay during our wedding on Fogo Island. Location is a short stroll to the Inn, which was perfect for us. They really enjoyed the space, check in/out was easy and Owen was great to communicate with. Would highly recommend!

Authentic Newfoundland Experience! This is a salt box style home and has a spectacular view of the harbour. This home is only a 10 minute walk from Brimstone Head Walking Trail and from the main area which has a Bank, Beaches Bar and Grill, Riffs Clothing Store, Chinese Restaurant and many Museums. When taking the Ferry to and from our island please note the summer months are very busy and I suggest arriving in line about 1.5 hours prior to departure.
Welcome to Oceanview Cottage Rental. We offer a spectacular view of Fogo Harbour and an Authentic Newfoundland Experience! For those of you with children we are steps away from the Towns only playground. ✅This is a salt Box Style home which is a traditional cozy Newfoundland Home with lower ceilings (built that way years ago to keep the heat in the rooms). ✅Note: Ceilings are 6Ft high to the beams and are 6.5Ft in between the beams. ✅Parking is roadside next to the stair walkway that goes down to the cottage.
We are steps from the Bleakhouse Museum and playground. We are also a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Brimstone Head Walking Trail where you will have the most amazing lookout view of the Ocean and all of Fogo. • Sonya was a wonderful host. She was quick to respond to my messages. Her home is clean and quaint. My group of 4 were very comfortable there. The view is breathtaking, making us stop and soak in the character and charm of the place. We had a surprise snowfall but the walkway was cleared before we returned. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    Lisa2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Sonya's! Very clean and comfortable. It really made me feel nostalgic - like I was staying at my grandmother's home! This cottage is so cute and quaint, you will not be disappointed with your stay. Also very close to local amenities. Will definitely visit again!

    Amy2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great Island hospitality!

    Jonathan2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our 3 day stay at Sonya's place very much. Her saltbox house is right on the water with fantastic views. The house itself is a wonderful example of a traditional saltbox with low ceilings and small rooms. We loved the authenticity of staying there while on the island. The house is well equipped with everything you need to be comfortable. The beds were comfortable, the shower was fine and the washer and dryer were an extra bonus. Unfortunately, a cold, wet storm limited our outdoor activities during our stay but we still managed to get out and explore the island and the small outports. The storm finally blew through on our last afternoon and we were able to take a windy hike on the beautiful Lion's Den Trail. Fogo Island is a very interesting and beautiful place to visit and Sonya's house is a wonderful place to stay.

  • Lovely stay, thank you. We enjoyed our stay, the lovely view, your Dad checked in with us when we first arrived which was very kind, and, we managed to hike up Brimstone then undo all that healthy activity with an incredible lunch at the Fogo Inn!

  • Beautiful view, clean and comfy little hide away of a gem to stay here. We stayed here with our almost 3 year old. He loved the Ocean view and even the fun of throwing rocks in the water. Even thought the wind was high, it made the most of the water splash up and tickle our faces. Love the salt air smell and an extra bonus to feel the water mist on our face.

    Daniel2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent cottage, ideally located and very clean!

  • Lisa's place is a perfect little gem, all panelled in wood and very clean, with more than you can need for a delightful stay. The cabin is in the town of Fogo, on Fogo Island, so within easy driving distance of everything to see, as well as within walking distance to the convenience store and a couple of restaurants. On the other hand, there is a BBQ on the deck where you can cook a little meal and enjoy the great view.

The place was very clean and had all the little touches that spoke to the host’s experience in hospitality. I’d highly recommend this place! Also when you’re on Fogo check out Bang Belly Cafe and Growler’s Ice Cream.

  • Cozy spot in a nice location!

    Angie2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to use as a base to explore Fogo Island. The house was clean with lots of space and plenty of character with a nice view of the bay. The ceilings are a bit low in the living room so be prepared to keep your head down there if you are 5’10 plus. Jarrod was lovely and met us in person around check in and was very friendly and gave us some great advice for travel around the island. Our kids loved playing their board games in the evening and we all felt at home here.

    Peter2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic and friendly place! Thank you for the little attentions of the lunch. We would come back for a longer stay.

    Guillaume2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jarrod’s house was spacious and inviting, just like Nan’s ;) The location was perfect and the hosts were helpful. They left unexpected touches and things to be discovered within the home. I would highly recommend.

  • Jarrod greeted us once we arrived at the house; he was warm and welcoming and gave us some great tips about local walking trails and supplied us with all we needed to make our stay comfortable. Our kids loved the board games, and the wifi was much appreciated! We had a lovely lunch at Scoff Restaurant (just a few steps away). Thanks for the great visit! We will be sure to visit again.

    Jolene2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely old traditional family home with main area more than 200 years old. Because of this rafters in that area are quite low so may not work for tall people. Jarrod was a great host who met us in person shortly after we arrived and was very informative re local community hikes, food and opportunities to explore. Sadly our stay was too short.

    Lloyd2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Old house but very well equiped even with a washer. Bred, jam and coffee were provided foreakfeat. Very well located, close to the trails. We enjoyed it .

It’s a beautifully renovated old home with tons of character and Newfoundland charm. Each room had it’s own full bath which was an added bonus. It’s roomy, up to date and super clean. House is located at the end of the road overlooking a beautiful point. This 150 year old house has been lovingly restored and a great room added. Wake up to the salt air breeze, revel in the ocean view from almost every room. Perfect place to relax and rejuvenate! It is truly a magical place.
Closest airport is Gander. A car is a necessity, drive from Airport is approximately 1hr 20 min to Ferry. Ferry to Island is approximately 20 min. Ferry schedule can be found by googling Change Islands / Fogo Ferry. Make sure you check the Change Islands Ferry schedule.
Island has 2 small grocery stores and 2 restaurants. We suggest purchasing your food and alcohol in Gander prior to leaving for the island.

  • A very special place owned by very special people. Great cottage on the water in a place unlike any other I’ve been. Like going back in time. Frances and Dave created a lovely cottage and their restaurant is great too. This place and these people are the real thing.

  • A gorgeous modern cottage with a perfect location and a stunning view. A little island with big charm. Amazing hiking trails, peaceful, quiet and tranquil. A local museum is a must see and the locals are always welcoming and friendly. Frances & Dave are super hosts who also operate a restaurant with home cooked style meals that are second to none. Always there at a minutes notice if you need anything and very accommodating. Well worth the travel.

    Medina2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow....what an amazing stay we had at David and Frances cottage by the sea!!!! This is a beautifully restored home with an absolutely stunning view of the harbour from the balcony. The cottage is brand new with every imaginable amenity you could want...including an espresso machine, washer and dryer and wifi. The beds were very comfortable and the area is so quiet. Having our morning coffee out on the deck was the highlight. Make sure you also visit their restaurant TLP during your stay as we had the most amazing feed of pan fried cod, chips, dressing and gravy!!!!

    Denise2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • In visiting the tourist areas of Twillingate, Lewisporte and Fogo, we were looking for an authentic island stay, without the visitor sales pitches and signs of vacation. We just wanted to be a part of an authentic outport community. Change Islands was the perfect answer. A 25 minute ferry ride later, we were met by Frances and Dave, the most genuine and warm hosts you could ever ask for. If there was a category higher than Superhost, we would give it to them! After a delicious home cooked meal of panfried cod at the restaurant just around the corner from the stay, we were shown a masterpiece of a home, full of exquisite design and architecture features. Every amenity from home was there. The sound of the waves on the shore right outside lulled everyone to sleep. On the balcony with my morning coffee, I was able to capture exceptional photos of the sunrise and the sleepy little outport village waking up, fishing boats heading out soon after the crack of dawn. Thank you, Dave and Frances, for a exceptional and unforgettable stay that recharged the batteries and replenished the spirit. I wish everyone could visit and share the experience we had. They don’t know what they’re missing.

    Tessa2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot, and really excellent value. Will be returning for sure. Location is excellent, very easy walk to all the things in Fogo town, great view over the pond out back. Space is comfy and well-equipped. FYI, as with many older houses in NL, ceilings are pretty low in the bedrooms - probably around 6'1 or so, so tall people should be aware :-)

    Josh2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved visiting Fogo and enjoyed staying here. Loreta and her husband gave us fresh cod for supper when we arrived and Loreta helped us prepared it as we were not ready for it. Wish our stay had been at least 3 days!

Newly constructed cottage, no corners cut here. The exterior was done in a spruce wood siding, while the interior was done in a local spruce shiplap, white washed for a soft appearance. The cottage is clean, decorated with old and new so that it maintains that cozy feel. The fireplace adds a warm ambiance. You have access to hiking trails across the island, where you may come across Foxes, Caribou, Whales or Icebergs depending on the time of year. Don't forget to visit the Newfoundland ponies.
Island Harbour was founded in 1864. Located off the beaten path. Island Harbour was the hub for sealers from Fogo Island. Island Harbour was a fishing town, now that the fishery is closed, the fishing premises that once thrived remained unused and falling down. There has been little development in Island Harbour since the closure of the fishery. The residents of the community are always willing to share some history, just ask

The house is brand new but the decor is a good mix of traditional Fogo style (quilts) and contemporary. it’s got all the amenities, just be mindful internet connection is scarce and driving is involved to visit the main communities of Joe Batt’s arm (20min) and Fogo. We didn’t mind the drive cause it was so nice to come back home to this. Highly recommend it.

  • Wonderful, new home in a wonderful position

    Sara2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • A little slice of Heaven on Fogo Island! We were absolutely impressed with the finishes of Tanya's place, including the beautiful handmade quilts on the beds. It was everything we hoped for in a stay, and more. Thanks for everything!

    Natalie2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tanya's place was so well furnished and had everything we could ever need. There were gorgeous antique dishes in the cupboards and locally made quilts on the beds, which really made it feel like an authentic Fogo Island experience. Her house was right on the water and provided the perfect getaway to relax and watch the sunset. We will definitely be back.

    Darlene2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house was exceptional - modern, clean, and with all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. Sitting on the front porch watching the sun set over the harbour was a true highlight.

    Pam2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • No need to spend 2000 $ at the Big Inn ! Staying at Tanya's new house is much more fun ! You can be part of a village at Fogo Island with the locals by lodging at this beautiful and gorgeous house at Island Harbour ! Everything is new in the house and it is decorated with great taste and style ! The View from the house on the cove is magnificent, and you will appreciate the great hospitality of the people from Island Harbour ! Enjoy the Island at its best by having breakfast or dinner at the Cod Jigger Diner, an authentic restaurant for the locals in Fogo ! Go to Fogo, have fun, do some trekking, and then, sit on the balcony of this beautiful home and enjoy watching from your Cove, the fishermen coming back to shore from the sea...

  • This is a total gem! The house is beautiful, the waterfront location is lovely. We wished we had a rainy day so we could justify staying in all day! Thank you Tanya!

This is the front apartment in a group of three adjoining apartments "between a rock and a hard place". Because it is the front unit, it has a great view of the town and the ocean.
It is "between a rock and a hard place". It is just 1 km from Brimstone Head, one of the four corners of the earth.
Friendly people, amazing sunsets, beautiful scenery and ocean views, great walking trails, and many amenities.
  • Excellent location, great amenities

  • Very convenient and clean one bedroom cottage-like unit. Great location for seeing town of Fogo on foot. Well-stocked kitchen for self-catering. Great view of harbour from this front unit. Reasonably priced. Host is easy to contact. Recommend.

  • We had the time of our lives going to Fogo Island. We were so happy and greatful to Diane in how she accommodated us. Her place offered us sooooo much. I slept peacefully every night, enjoyed the vicinity that had soooooo much to offer a vacationer, ate the best home cooked meal thanks to the suite being fully equipped with a kitchen, and I can keep going on....but, space is limited. I highly recommend Diane's Units in Fogo on Fogo Island. P.S. Diane has some of the most beautiful and creative glass work - I love my Fogo lit bottle. Thank you Diane for helping to create fun and happy memories for us.

Uncle Ben’s A well-preserved heritage home centrally located in downtown Change Islands (population 200), Uncle Ben’s house overlooks Skinner’s Harbour with a distant view across the water of the hills of Fogo Island. Rugged natural beauty, scenic fishing stages, and the legendary warmth and hospitality of Newfoundlanders combine to make Change Islands a very special place.
Ben Diamond’s grandfather, Ben Ledrew, built this home at the turn of the last century. When the first diesel generating plant brought electricity to Change Islands in 1963, Ben saw no need for the comforts and conveniences of connection to the grid. Ben continued to live in this house, without electricity or running water, for his entire life. A small wood stove in the kitchen was the principal source of heat. When I acquired the house from Uncle Ben’s nephews in 2010, it was in almost museum-quality condition, with original linoleum floors and many layers of wallpaper dating back over 100 years. Restoring the house so as to retain its many layers of history, while still providing the basic amenities of modern life, such as electricity and running water, has been a seven year labour of love (or folly, some might say). The bathroom is entirely new and the kitchen has been substantially upgraded while preserving the original tongue-in-groove walls and ceiling, and the wood floor. The rest of the house has been left as much as possible in its original condition with the various layers of wallpaper exposed in many of the rooms and the original linoleum floors, and linoleum fragments, kept in place. With the exception of the mattresses, the furniture is also all original to the house. Outside the traditional wooden clapboard and wooden windows have been repainted in the typical white of Change Islands, with the tile red trim which matches the many stages and stores on the island. Except for a small area immediately around the house, most of the yard has been left to grow wild; long native grasses interspersed with wildflowers dominate the meadow behind the house.
The house is located directly across the road from the water. Everything on Change Islands is within walking distance; the house is a five minute walk from the general store and one of the two local restaurants on the island. There are numerous hiking trails and, for those who enjoy swimming in waters frequently visited by icebergs, some spectacularly scenic swimming spots. For families with young children there is a brand new public playground in the schoolyard. The Change Islands Newfoundland Pony Refuge is of interest to all ages; rides can be usually be arranged for children. Summer days are very long, but if you stay up late enough for the sky to turn dark there are some great opportunities for stargazing just beyond the lights of the town. When the capelin are running (typically in late July and August) whales can often be seen swimming off the coast. Local fishermen have been known to offer curious tourists boat rides and to take them out fishing. (There is a recreational cod fishery open at various times over the summer; consult the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada website for the dates of the Newfoundland and Labrador Recreational Groundfish Fishery.)
  • We are two couples traveling to Change Islands to celebrate a milestone birthday and were looking for a classic, old time Newfoundland experience. Uncle Ben’s was the perfect fit for our trip. The views from the kitchen window and bedrooms windows are wonderful. George was very accommodating for any special requests we made and provided lots of advice for things to see, do, and places to eat.

    Rose2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality and wonderful people. The house is full of history and George will gladly share it with you, all you have to do is ask. I loved it

    Denise2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • George was a truly incredible host, who made sure my partner and I had a beautiful, community oriented experience on Change Islands. He called around to arrange a variety of special things for us with local friends and gave us tours of many special places on the islands. We also had an incredible time fishing with George in his punt out on the ocean, and even saw a whale! The community on Change Islands is so incredibly warm and caring, and the coast and forests you can explore are gorgeous. Five thumbs ups for this Airbnb!

    Sarah2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place with exquisite hosts. George will meet your every need and make your stay extra special. The house was a dream, and I wandered the old rooms with bated breath, not knowing which treasure I'd come across next. Spotless, roomy, full working kitchen, very comfy beds with a view looking right into the ocean. It was a wonderful stay, an exciting trip back to the past. Thank you George, we can't wait to return ! Five Stars !

    Elizabeth2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • George is a fabulous host who has taken painstaking efforts at restoring Uncle Ben’s house. I very much appreciated all the details of this over-a- century old house. We had everything we needed for our two night stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the parlor very cozy. The bed we used -of two available- was very comfortable. The hikes in the area are some of the best ocean strolls I have ever experienced, both the ruggedness of the Squid Jiggers trail and peacefulness of the Shoreline Trail. They are not to be missed if you love hiking. If you are seeking a special yet different experience, a visit to this charming, small, isolated spot might be what you are looking for.

    Rich2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a welcome retreat! We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay. George is an exceptional and warm host - he showed us beautiful places in our area and introduced us to our Change Island neighbors. The house is full of pentimento-filled charm. Thank you, George - and Ben!

    Marta2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location and charm. Takes one back to another century. Great internet. Good place to read a novel and take a hike. Bring your own food and wine. The water in shower has a strong sulfur smell but drinking water is provided.

    Roberta2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of four, including two small children, had a great time at Uncle Ben's. It was clean and true to the description and George couldn't have been more helpful.

  • The Inn is perfectly located in the town of Tilting. Small and cozy, felt like being at home. Tom was a gallant host ready with stories and activity suggestions. Had a really pleasant time all around.

    Megan2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautifully maintained BnB in an amazing location. Heading in the door, I got distracted for a good 20 minutes watching the shore birds in the tidal pool off the house's deck. The room was sparkling with a private bath. The shared spaces were so nicely done, but the freshly made breakfast was a highlight - especially Tom's amazing scones. He has plenty of great tips about the area and is so friendly. I will definitely be back for a longer stay!

    Kerry2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful B&B with a host that is onsite and has your best interest and all of your expectations catered to. Tom makes you homemade (fantastic!!) scones in the morning along with eggs and bacon, and a selection of local homemade jams and jellies. This is truly a wonderful B&B to book with if you're lucky enough to get a spot in this very popular Inn.

  • Heartfelt little B & B on Fogo, a soannender and really recommendable island. Tom is a very nice and helpful host. The room was very small and basic but practically furnished. You can use the living room and the terrace as a lounge at any time. The breakfast was good, especially the scones were delicious.

On the same street as the Marconi Interpretation Centre and the start of the Lions Den hike so that was super convenient. Grandma Js: A lovingly restored, Canada Select 4.5 star, oceanfront home with modern conveniences. Make it your own special retreat! The 100+ year old saltbox welcomes guests to magical Herring Neck. The 1st floor is an open great room with a dramatic ocean view picture window. Upstairs 13' foot vaulted ceilings welcome you to the bedrooms and a 2nd bathroom with an oversized shower. You're 1 hour 15 minutes from Gander Airport, 15 minutes from Twillingate and 45 minutes from Fogo Island Ferry.
The first floor is a great room with a stunning view through a 13’ long picture window. There is also a mudroom, a bathroom with a 62" clawfoot tub, and a utility area. The second floor is accessed by century old wooden stairs where you will find spectacular 13' foot high vaulted ceilings in both bedrooms and a second full bathroom with a soaring ceiling, a gorgeous skylight, and oversized shower.
  • I can’t say enough about this charming little saltbox style house; rustic charm and style yet with all of the modern amenities one could want and need. My girlfriend immediately claimed the downstairs bathroom with the claw foot tub for her bubble baths. No worries, I got the upstairs modern bathroom with a spacious shower large enough to do yoga in (which I did not, nor know how). Apple TV, satellite TV, heat in every room, stocked kitchen, bay views... what more could you ask for? The best host on earth you say? Done. Paul is exactly that and will take care of every detail and can give great local advice and tips. Do yourself a favor: stay here and thank me and Paul later!

    Jason2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! This is a wonderful place that, if possible, is even nicer than the pictures. The location is perfect for a quiet holiday with great access to local communities. Paul is a great host - helpful and knowledgeable and just a nice person. Without hesitation we believe this is our favourite AirB&B, and we have had quite a few stays in many locations. The combination of this place, its location, as well as our host made it exceptional. Thank you, Paul.

    Janice2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a great host, he was very invested in us enjoying our stay in the house and the area! The house was wonderful, spectacular views and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay!

    Devin2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Grandma J’s was such a beautiful getaway for us! The beautiful decor, comfortable furnishings, the wifi and options for TV are all first rate! The house is so charming with lots of antique furnishings coupled with modern appliances for cooking and relaxing . The beds are very cozy and comfortable with lovely duvets and many home made quilts to enjoy! The claw foot tub is so inviting and the oversized shower upstairs is another amazing addition to this house! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and unwind after a busy summer . The views of the ocean and landscape calmyour soul! Our host , Paul was very considerate, courteous and helpful in checking in to make sure we had everything we needed . He also gave us some great advice for things to do in the area and we had a great time pursuing some of these things! We would highly recommend Paul as an Airbnb host.. ( we think he’s a Super host!).. and we thank him for opening his home to us! We love the Airbnb opportunities and look forward to our next vacation utilizing this option! Sincerely; Lorna and Rupert

  • Sometimes you find a place to stay that hits all the right high notes. I found Paul to be authentic in his interest to provide us a great stay. His cottage was supremely comfortable and had a jaw dropping location. I highly recommend you visiting this great part of the world and with Paul’s roof above your head.

    Barbara2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Grandma J's is a amazing house with an incredible view. Paul pulled out all of the stops reviving an old Salt Box house to it's newfound glory. It has modern touches within a antique building. Grandma J's is so comfortable with all the amenities you would need. The kitchen is incredible to cook in, the bathrooms have a choice of a great clawfoot bathtub on the 1st floor and a great tiled modern shower upstairs. The beds are so comfortable. The view out all of the windows are amazing and sitting on the porch watching the sunset was a great way to end the day. Paul has great suggestions on local activities and takes so much pride in his house and for good reason. Paul, thank you for a true Newfie experience. Mitch

    Mitch2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space, great communication from host!

    Charis2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • First of all Paul is an amazing host. Prompt, fun, and gives great suggestions of what to check out (really helpful when in a smaller place!) Grandma Js is a slice of heaven. The views are spectacular and the place feels like home - if your home was impeccably decorated, had huge vaulted ceilings, and a clawfoot bath. But it still felt cozy! It was a great spot to do day stuff out of Twillingate - we primarily came for icebergs, nature, and a bit of an escape. We got it all and more - we had people seated next to us a dinner set us up with a fisherman the next day to catch cod! Me and my friend had an absolute BLAST! One night we literally stayed in and did hot yoga with 'Alexa' and the beautiful faux fireplace . A dream!

The Bathroom is a short stroll of about 20 meters (60’) from the camper, in a building pod attached to the rear of the converted church, with solar powered night lights along the path.

Eric designed and built the exterior of the shower and toilet room to be reminiscent of a traditional NL stage & outhouse, combined with a spa like interior.

Check with hosts for details.

 About the Area and surroundings:
Our location & area is a nature lovers paradise with inspiring hiking and walking trails, paths & lookouts, with something for any fitness or hiking level. We are blessed with a close proximity to a large number of diverse wildlife & plant habitats. There is a secluded rocky beach just steps away that is great place to explore. We are happy to provide directions to local trails and secret places & lookouts, or ask about our private guided walks or hikes. We are in a prime location to watch the seasonal migration of icebergs as they drift along the iceberg alley, and often the bergs get swept up in the currents & into our bays where you can watch them from the comfort of the deck or Bergy’s windows. We are just a short walk from the Pikes Arm lookout that has amazing 360 degree view of the coast line & surrounding islands. You can see two lighthouses from our property…one a light beacon on ship island across the bay and the other is historic bacalhao lighthouse which was manned as recently as some years ago. We also have our own mini lighthouse in the restored & converted former bell tower.
There is abundant wildlife that is possible to see both from the property & in and around the area…eagles, whales, dolphins, orcas, fox, arctic hare, Canadian or gray jays, grosbeaks, seals, arctic terns, northern gannet, osprey, kittiwakes, loons, cormorants, beavers, otters, mink, lynx, moose, hawk owls, great horned owls, & snowy owls to name a few.
We are also in a fantastic place for sea kayaking, stand up paddling, & sailing in and around the coves & islands & of course around icebergs and we are very close to several easy places to put in.

Be sure and check the Bergy manual for tips for great places to see & explore in and around the area or feel free to ask your host...they love to share their knowledge of the area. What to see when:
Everything has its season & natural rhythm here in Green Cove & in NL in general…
Spring/Summer arrives late with wildflowers blooming in late July & on through August.
Icebergs typically show up in early spring to late July.
Whales show up in spring until early Jan. when the bays start to freeze up.
They are more plentiful after late July. Pods of dolphins or locally known as Jumpers, can be seen from mid summer on into early winter.
It takes a long time for the North Atlantic to warm up & conversely to cool back down again which doesn’t happen until late fall, so we often have long Indian summers. Falls can be extraordinary and are many peoples favorite time of the year to be in this area. Late fall is when some of the more spectacular storms start to move through and are an awesome thing to experience, particularly from the high vantage point up on our bluff.
Storms in Newfoundland can be legendary. NL is basically one large wild berry patch and the season usually starts in early August & runs well through October. Berry picking is one of our most favorite Newfoundland experiences. Berries that can be found depending on the season…blueberry, raspberry, partridgeberry or lingonberry, bakeapple or cloudberry, currants, marsh berry, gooseberry, blackberry or crowberry, and cranberry.

 Privacy & Hosts availability:
We have designed the glamping spaces to feel private and separate from the church even with it’s close proximity. We are also dedicated to our guests privacy and comfort and are available for as much or little contact as you prefer. We are on site and can answer any questions, or offer any guidance/ information to help ensure you'll be a happy glamper. Feel free to reach out.

 Things to Note:
Bergy is a cozy intimate space with a 6’ ceiling inside & an entrance door that is 5ft’-4-1/2” tall…be sure to watch your head coming and going from the trailer, especially if you are taller than these heights.
The grounds & spaces are not suitable for pets.
Adults only accommodation, we’re in an area with high cliffs and is not suitable for children.
No smoking inside Bergy or anywhere on the property. The non-smoking policy refers to cigarettes, cigars, cannabis, e-cigarettes, burning candles, incense, or essential oil infusers etc. If you smoke inside your accommodation or in any of the building spaces, a minimum cleaning fee of $350 will be charged against your security deposit.
No fires are are allowed on the property for fire safety. Wifi works best on the deck besides Bergy, or closer to the main house. It can be spotty inside the Bergy, the insulation used inside Bergy filters the wifi signal. The good news is it protects you from wifi and cell phone radiation. We are a work in progress… the church and the landscaping are in the process of being converted & upgraded into a B&B and glamping location.
We are also a working homestead. You may see some construction and/or recycling materials, & driftwood collection in some confined areas on site.
  • We had a once in a lifetime experience in your wonderful trailer with a spectacular area. We had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this place if you're looking for peace, nature and uniqueness.

If you are looking for peace, beauty and tranquility then Quarry Cottage may be just the place. Nestled in the little outport of Cobb's Arm (approximately 15 minutes to Twillingate), you can view the ocean and sunset, take a stroll through history or simply relax and enjoy the comfort of outport Newfoundland.
The two bedroom cottage has been recently renovated and it's just a stone's throw from the water. Each bedroom has a double bed with room for one more on the couch. There is a washer/dryer, and the bathroom although tiny, has three pieces. Also included is a BBQ. Guest will have private and full access to the cottage/property. This cozy retreat has all the essential amenities to ensure a warm and welcoming stay.
The outport of Cobb's Arm is a picturesque community that flourished in the 1870's when the “Newfoundland Lime Company” started quarrying limestone for Price's Pulp and Paper mill located in Grand-Falls. The mine was the economic heart of the town, employing hundreds and lasting almost a century. In 1966 new innovation combined with the cost of production took its toll, and the vast commercial activity ended. The quarry faces stand over one hundred feet, and have hiking trails that can take you to their peak. Once you are there you will have a birds eye view of the colourful landscape.

  • Quiet and rustic cottage with a wonderful view. Only 20 minutes to Twillingate. The cottage is equipped with all the basics, including washer/dryer and BBQ on the deck. Wifi is great but cell service was rarely available. Recommend Quarry Cottage if you are looking for a relaxing spot.

  • The view from the porch was awesome and the cabin was clean and very cute! I was surprised at how private the cabin was and enjoyed it immensely. 💜

  • Lori's place was wonderful. It is a little less then 20 minutes away from Twilling Gate. Just far enough away for perfectly quiet sleep. Close enough to go back and forth in a day.

  • Excellent little cottage with a gorgeous view. So tranquil. The cottage is well equipped and the beds and pillows very comfy. Close to sights and activities in the area. A really good place to stay.

  • Nice quaint little cottage off the beaten path. Small community that has all the necessary things can be found close by in Twillingate. The house was an easy check in and not once were we bothered or even ran into other people for that matter! It truly is a secluded little place. There was a wifi repeater to get wifi to the house but it doesn’t really work so the internet kept disconnecting. That was really the only downside to this place. I highly recommend this Airbnb.

  • Lori’s place is so lovely, all the little touches made you feel so at home. The view from the back is so something else and the area is nice and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend staying at the cottage.
