Neighborhood highlights

Aptly named 'the Gem of the Peak District', Wirksworth is an historic market town, dating back to Saxon times. The property is situated one of the most desirable streets in the town, North End. As one of the oldest streets in Derbyshire, the properties on the street all enjoy grade II listed status and as a result it is largely popular with both visitors and locals.

Wirksworth is full of the charms of a Derbyshire Peak District town. It has the famed High Peak Trail, Ecclesbourne Valley Steam Railway, The Stardisc in Stoney Wood, The National Stone Centre and the Heritage center/tourist Information. Within close proximity to the house there are many hiking trails and walks to suit all abilities and there is the opportunity to enjoy outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking, cycling and rock climbing .

As the gateway into the Peaks, Wirksworth is within easy access to Carsington Waters, Crich Tramway Museum, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Gullivers Kingdon, Black Rocks, Cromford Mills, Cromford Canal, The Heights of Abraham, Hopton Hall, Dovedale and Chatsworth to name just a few. It has fantastic country pubs, bakeries, delis, artisan food shops, restaurants, wine bars, art galleries and there is even a fabulous small independent Cinema on North End called The Northern Light Cinema ( which has featured in The Guardian as one of the best cinemas in the uk).

Art/Music/Culture/Food and Drink, is ingrained within the culture of this bohemian, yet cosmopolitan small town. Each year it attracts tourists and prestigious Artists and Architects from all over the world to take part in it's Annual Arts festival, that takes place in September. It was also Britain’s first fairtrade town.
