Explore beautiful Lake Naivasha from this stunning rustic modern cottage overlooking a wildlife conservancy. The studio cottage was lovingly built with clay floors, high-beamed ceilings, and antique details for a luxurious but charming feel. The house borders Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary, so enjoy the views of giraffes and zebras from your spacious verandah and lush peaceful garden. Fine dining at Ranch House Bistro Restaurant & great food shopping at La Pieve Farm Shop is just 5 minutes away!

The space
Acacia Cottage is comprised of one spacious bedroom with a more-than-king-sized bed kitted out in the finest Egyptian cotton; a terrazzo bathroom containing a hot and powerful shower, toilet and sink as well as fragrant bathroom products; and a small kitchenette with a mini-fridge and a small space to prepare food for your BBQ outside (no gas hob inside but available outside on request). A larger portable fridge can also be added to your space on request. Brass spotlights, a modern wardrobe on which to store your clothes, nightstands with drawer space, and your own wifi complete the space.

The verandah is almost as big as the cottage itself and is the best place to spend the evenings curled up on the furniture while looking at the stars above and the warthogs just feet away from you! Plenty of jikos and outdoor cooking equipment will be available to help you make the most of Naivasha’s outdoor lifestyle. Acacia Cottage sits in its own private space next to its sister property Olanga House, but the garden of the whole place will be yours alone. Take a one minute stroll to the ‘picnic area’ of the garden where two corners of the sanctuary meet each other and where you can witness the daily walks of buffalos, giraffes and even leopards just metres away from you behind the electric fence while you use our large BBQ or have a drink under the sparkling solar lights.

Where you’ll be

Naivasha, Nakuru County, Kenya

The location of a cottage is a major plus. The nearby office arranges the most amazing game drives (plus sundowners/bush breakfast) within the sanctuary – a privilege normally reserved only for guests of the five star lodge. Oserengoni has expansive plains where you can see countless herds as well as the highest density of leopards in Kenya outside of the Mara. In addition to the must-do game drives, you can also easily arrange a boat trip amongst Naivasha’s outstanding birdlife, enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant, take only a 15-20 minute drive to Elsamere’s museum or Camp Carnelly’s bar, or use our hand-drawn map to take yourself (and a furry companion if you have one!) on a walk or a run around the non-fenced part of the sanctuary and have some up-close encounters with our resident giraffes.

Hello! I grew up in the UK and have lived in Kenya for the last six years with my husband Samuel and our fun-loving labrador. I work in education and research. I'm an easy going and optimistic person who loves meeting new people and having new adventures. Sam and I have stayed in Airbnbs all over Kenya, as well as in Europe too, and have met some great people and seen some beautiful places that will stay with us forever. My favourite things are reading, running, walking our dog, and quiet nights in with a bottle of wine!
