Sunny room in cottage, warm and comfortable, share bathroom with owner, set in a lovely forest type garden with spacious deck out the back. Free run of kitchen and sitting room. Rufus, a small Schnuanzer x jack Russell always gives a warm welcome.

The space
Very comfortable and a bit quirky. Open fire for cosy evenings in winter. An interesting collection of NZ art works, and local artifacts. Access to the kitchen for preparing your own meals, the occasional invite to share a meal with me. Lots of wood, eg wooden floors, and early colonial furniture. Relaxed and friendly hostess, happy to point you in the right direction for whatever interests you. If people would rather sleep in a double bed, I am very happy to put the single beds together.m

Guest access
10 minutes walk to Eden Park, and 10 minutes in the other direction to Westernsprings stadium and Park. Train station, 1min away, and buses the same. 30 minutes walk into the city, by bus, 15 mins by train via Newmarket 25 mins. Easy parking on site, narrow drive way, if your drive in need to back out. Parking on the street usually available

Other things to note
I do have a small dog called Rufus, he's a schnuazerXJack Russell. Of course, I think he's the bees Knees, and so does he. Very friendly, loves visitors, kids, games, walks and food.
So please dont feed him, he's on a raw food diet.

Plenty of people on the street due to easy public transport access. A generous mix of housing styles, mostly wooden colonial. I've been here 20 years and never had any security problems. Lots of young families around and plenty of seniors also a nice ethnic mix. Gets quite exciting when there is a big match or concert going down, no parking on the street then. No worries, I've got plenty. If you are coming by public transport, I will meet you off ;the train or bus if you want, just txt me.

I have a lot of good energy, am positive generous and funny. Of course I'm a wee bit ancient, but still very much enjoying life. I have 3 sons and 9 grandchildren living quite close so I'm very lucky. I do drive a car which is mainly parked in the drive. There is room for another car but we have to negociate re getting in and out. I mostly advise people to park at the top of the drive which makes backing down the narrow drive much easier. I ride a bike nearly every day. Enjoy gardening, the movies, (belong to a film club) going to the gym, mainly for yoga, walking Rufus. Enjoy the cut and thrust of politics. Reading is a favourite passtime. Love sharing my home with friendly, interesting people and showing them around our lovely city and environs

During your stay
I'm friendly, without being intrusive. Want my guests to feel relaxed and not worried about having to interact with me. I will leave how much that is to them.
Always happy to point people to places to go and things to see if that what they want.
