Gorgeous studio apt overlooking Rio Grande Valley, 100yr-old restored adobe casa. Comfy nicely appointed interior, open floor plan, large kitchen, queen bed, and modern large bathroom.

The space
Located in New Mexico’s middle Rio Grande Valley in Socorro county, only 1 hour south of Albuquerque, the vacation rental property provides easy access to lush farmlands watered by ancient irrigation ditches, and to the wildlife habitat associated with the farmlands and the Rio Grande bosque. Desert mesas, semi-arid rangelands, and 10,000 ft mountains border the valley. As a large second-floor studio apartment in one of the properties in the restored adobe village of Polvadera, this vacation rental property features a modern open floor plan to enjoy a relaxing stay away from home. The front of the studio includes an ample full kitchen, a nice dining area, and a cozy sitting area for lounging, visiting, or taking in a favorite movie. The back part of the studio includes a sleeping area with a comfy queen bed, a walk-in closet, and a huge South-America style bathroom with floor-to-ceiling ceramic tile, a bidet, and a rain-dome shower. The east side it opens to a large (8 x 28) balcony, with beautiful views of the valley farmlands and distant desert mesas, and guaranteed beautiful sunrises. The balcony is perfect for savoring your morning coffee, or grilling meats and enjoying a chilled beer or a glass of wine in the evenings.

Guest access
Polvadera is one of the historical Spanish villages that dot the Rio Grande valley along the El Camino Real, the ancient colonial trail between Mexico City and Santa Fe. Located just 8 miles north of Socorro, home of New Mexico Tech University, and 20 miles north of Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, the vacation property is a perfect place to stay for a weekend exploring Bosque del Apache, San Lorenzo Canyon, the Quebradas BLM Back Country Byway, the Magdalena Mountains and the VLA, or while visiting your NM Tech student child.

Immediately east of the property is the irrigated farmland of the Middle Rio Grande Conservation District (MRGCD), Socorro division. Stretching from San Acacia a few miles to the north all the way to Bosque de Apache 20 miles to the south, the 20,000 acres of the Socorro Division are criss-crossed by a network of ancient irrigation ditches, or "acequias". One generally encounters elevated dirt roads along the banks of the acequias making them wonderful for lesiurely scenic explorations (on foot, bicycle, or car) just outside the guest house door.

During your stay
I travel a LOT for my work, thus my residence is available when travelling. Thus I generally will not be available live, but I do have a local co-host for emergencies. Otherwise the unit is fairly "turn-key" literally with a lockbox nearby, left with clean sheets on the bed and stocked with towels, a "home base" ready for an individual or couple to relax and enjoy the middle Rio Grande Valley, with your daily rat-race miles away...
