The Greenhouse is a cool spot located within a mile of Downtown Eau Claire's shops, restaurants, and bars. It's a 15 minute drive from the music festival grounds (Eaux Claires, Blue Ox, Country Jam) and a 10 minute drive from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. You’ll love our place because of it's spacious layout, home-y decor, affordable cost, safe neighborhood, and convenient location. All are welcome at The Greenhouse, even furry friends.

The space
The Greenhouse is a clean, spacious, affordable, and sunny house in a great location! It has a large, fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable living room, two nice bedrooms, and a clean bathroom with a full shower/tub. It also has a large backyard with your own deck.

The house was built in 1891 and has been refurbished into a nice and modern space, while still retaining much of its "old house" charm. We work hard to provide a clean and comfortable Airbnb, but want all guests to know before booking that our home is over 125 years old. While it has been maintained with care, the feel of our home is less like a hotel and much more like going to Grandma's house. We love this about The Greenhouse - there is plenty of charm and a relaxed, cozy feel. It's truly a home away from home! However, if you are looking for a vacation home, hotel amenities, or a luxurious feel, our place probably isn't for you.

To help you feel at home we provide the following:

-Guidebook to our favorite food, drink, and fun in Eau Claire

-Coffee Pot (Coffee and creamer provided)

-Comfortable linens

-A queen-sized air mattress to easily make room for a couple more guests

-Wireless internet (*Please note we do have a small TV in the Greenhouse, but do not have cable so it is used mainly for watching DVDs. Many guests also connect to our wi-fi to stream shows from their own devices.)

-A large table (Great for eating meals together or spreading out to get your work done)

-A comfy recliner to put your feet up

-A small TV, DVD player, and selection of DVDs. (Please note - there is no cable so the TV is used mainly for watching DVDs. Many guests also connect to our wi-fi to stream shows from their own devices.)

-Board games and card games to play

-Shampoo, Conditioner, and Soap

-Everything you need to cook while you stay (Except the food! We have plates, bowls, glasses, pots, pans, silverware, utensils, etc.)

-Charcoal grill

-Access to shared bonfire pit and lawn chairs (Let us know if you'd like us to set this up for you!)

-Lots of storage (Drawers and pantry in kitchen, dresser in each bedroom, closet in each bedroom with hangers and shelving)

-Key-less, coded entry to make check-in flexible for you (We supply the code, you check in when convenient)

-Possible garage space available for storing kayaks and bikes (Let us know if you are interested)

-Plenty of free street parking available if you have multiple cars or a truck/trailer

Guest access
The whole main-level apartment is yours during your stay with private access and no shared space! The house is a duplex and we live in the upstairs apartment, so we are close by if needed.

Other things to note
Keep in mind if you have more than 5 guests, one or two will sleep on a queen-sized air mattress set up on the living room floor. It may not be ideal, but it works and is a super economical option to get 7 people into an apartment for this price!

This apartment has a small TV, but no cable. The TV is used mainly for watching DVDs, but WiFi is available for online streaming.

*Again, please note this is an old home. If you are needing hotel-like amenities and feel for your visit, we encourage you to consider other local listings or hotels. If you want a home-y place to relax while you are away, we would love to host you!

Location

Eau Claire, Wisconsin, United States

We live up the hill from Eau Claire's thriving downtown area in a charming older, well-maintained neighborhood, just across from an elementary school. We love the energy the school brings.

Walk two blocks to Sue's award-winning Bake Shop or bike the trail system from our house along the river bank to Phoenix Park, the scenic confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers.

In the summer months, Phoenix Park is the put-in site for tubing down the river and also hosts a weekly farmers' market and Music in the Park, which draw in thousands of people each weekend. For the adventurous traveler, we can direct you to a nearby secret beach complete with a rope swing.

In colder months, take a jaunt over the wooden walking bridge to Boyd Park which has ice skating, ice sculptures, and weekly late night bonfires. Or cozy up to some world-class jazz at one of our favorite spots - The Lakely, just down the hill.

There's something for everyone in Eau Claire and we are in a central location to just about all of it!

We are two twenty-somethings who love to travel and love to host. Joining Airbnb has been one of the best decisions we've made! Having guests in our home brings the traveling to us when we can't be out exploring for ourselves. We are artists, outdoor enthusiasts, and adventure-seekers who met at UW-Eau Claire and got married in February of 2016. We both are pursuing creative careers -- Gabe is a musician and has a band called Waldemar, Mikelle is a floral designer with a wedding floral business called Fersk Floral Artistry. When we aren't working we love watching true crime documentaries on Netflix, playing cribbage at a local coffee shop, fly fishing Wisconsin's beautiful rivers, or curling up with a good book at home. We also have a friendly cat named Huckleberry Finn, Huck for short, whose first assumption when he meets somebody is that he's found a new friend. Eau Claire is our favorite place and it makes a wonderful home. Having lived here for many years, we enjoy sharing insider tips of the must sees and dos with our guests. We can't wait to meet you and hope you'll love your stay in Eau Claire!

During your stay
We interact with our guests as much or as little as they like. We live right upstairs in a separate apartment so we are close by if needed, but we like to allow guests a space of their own. We love meeting our guests and would both say that the highlight of hosting has been getting to know so many wonderful people.
