The Burgundy Bed and Breakfast has 4 guest rooms, each with its own private bath. We share the courtyard, spa, porches and the dining room with our guests. And there is a parlor and a galley kitchen for the guests to share. We are located in Faubourg Marigny, a 10 minute walk from the Frenchmen St music district, 25 minutes from Jackson Sq, the heart of the French Quarter. Here you are renting the "Best Room Available". If you need 2 beds or room for 3 people, contact your host in advance!

The space

We have 4 guest rooms: 2 have one queen bed, the other 2 have one queen bed and one single bed; all have private bathrooms. The availability calendar shows availability when at least one room is free. If you book online, it could happen, that different rooms are available on different nights. If you want to make sure that you won't have to switch rooms during your stay, contact your host before making your reservation!

Guest access

Aside from your room with private bathroom, the guests have access to the dining room, guest parlor, guest kitchen (fully equipped except there is no stove, which was not allowed in traditional New Orleans B&B's), back porch, courtyard and hot tub.

Interaction with guests

I am a Louisiana native and long-time New Orleans resident. I am happy to offer tips on everything from getting around to entertainment to restaurants. I can also book tours for you, some at a discounted rate.

I am very happy with my stay at the Burgundy. The location was excellent and central to many of the areas I wanted to explore most. It’s walkable to Frenchman Street and the French Quarter and I enjoyed meandering along the neighborhood streets seeing the architecture. This was a true bed and breakfast and I’m glad I chose this route. Carl was a great host. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to my friends.

Carl is communicative and accommodating to incoming guests. We had to switch rooms during our visit because of the way the multi-room situation works here, but it was a minor inconvenience and we expected it. Rooms are extremely clean/tidy and it's so enjoyable to have beds made and everything tidy when you return at the end of the day. Carl is knowledgable about food, entertainment, etc around town and very willing to point you in the right direction. Location is REALLY good, situated between the Quarter and the beautiful neighborhoods of Marigny and Bywater. We (happily) did not use our car all week! We found the beds a little squishy/creaky, the walls thin and the decor a bit dated. Water sometimes takes 3-5 minutes to get hot. Most of these things are to be expected in a really old house, but it's helpful if you're expecting it. Overall, the house is well appointed and Carl does a good job letting everyone know who's staying and facilitating social interactions. There's a hot tub in back, which we enjoyed, though the water is not very hot. The yard/patio out back is a great, quiet place to relax. Continental breakfast is included daily, served from 8 - 10 AM. A common fridge is available for folks to store food. Many restaurants are available within a 5 - 10 minute walk. Carl provided a safe place for us to store/lock our bikes, which we really appreciated. While we were a little nervous about walking around at night when we first arrived, by the end of the trip we felt very comfortable. Overall, we had a great time at Carl's place. He is a great host!

We enjoyed our stay at the Burgundy last weekend. Carl is a great host and provides excellent recommendations. It's a great location near the French Quarter within walking distance to the St. Roch Market & the lovely "Who Dat" coffee shop.

This bed and breakfast is fantastic. The location is perfect, a quiet neighborhood for a good nights sleep, but close enough to walk to great music in Frenchman and great restaurants and the french quarter. The inn is lovely with an inviting porch and a historic feel.

After living and working in Germany for 30 years, I retired and returned to the US, where I opened the Burgundy B&B in New Orleans in 2004. There are tons of reviews for the B&B on the traditional review web sites, such as trip advisor, yelp and others, which I'm not allowed to name here, and the B&B web site, which I'm also not allowed to name here.
I travel to Europe at least once a year and usually make one trip inside the US as well.
