This luxury holiday home sits on the edge of Lake Windermere, just a short drive from Bowness. The house boasts incredible lake views, designer furnishings and appliances, a home cinema room and a games room with 8ft pool table. The 5 en-suite bedrooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and 2 have freestanding baths. Outside, there's a terrace with dining area, sun loungers and BBQ, an acre of gardens and a jetty with direct access to the lake. Ideal for water sports, walking, pubs and restaurants.

The space
This five-bedroom house is located on the edge of Lake Windermere, just a short drive from Bowness. This impressive Lakeland stone house has been painstakingly designed to create the ultimate luxury holiday pad – think incredible lake views, designer details, a home cinema and a games room with pool table.

Antlers dotted around the house, warm plaid fabrics and faux fur rugs all contribute to the ski/hunting lodge feel. There is even a giant antler chandelier in the main living room where large double-fronted windows open onto the acre of garden. But despite these amazing features, Grey Gables maintains a cosy, home-from-home feel. The family room's Stuv wood burner faced with local Burlington Stone and the secondary snug are both ideal for late-night Scrabble and Monopoly marathons.

The kitchen boasts stylish stone surfaces, appliances by Gaggenau, furniture by Ralph Lauren, Andrew Martin and Van Thiel, and all the latest mod cons including a Quooker tap. The adjacent breakfast area with its rustic green oak dining table and benches overlooking the lake, is perfectly positioned to catch the morning sun. A few stairs lead to a more formal dining area with 3.5m bespoke log-edge 12-seater Whetstone Oak table.

The cinema room has a 65 inch screen, Cambridge Audio speakers and a stunning Mah Jong sofa from Roche Bobois which creates the ultimate chill-out den to watch favourite film classics. There's also a large games room with bespoke 8ft table.

A glass and stainless steel staircase leads to five en-suite bedrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, four of which have uninterrupted lake views, and three of which have balconies. Each of the spacious bedrooms has ViSpring beds, two of which can be made up into twins. The master and ‘room one’ both have oval baths overlooking Lake Windermere, perfect for a sunset bathe. All bathrooms have Mandarin Stone walls and giant drench showers adding to the luxurious feel.

Outside, there's an impressive terrace with dining area and sun loungers, as well as a BBQ area and extra seating. The acre of gardens surrounding the house is planted with native grasses and shrubs. Lawns to the front and rear lead down to the lake and provide ample room for ball games, while the jetty is the perfect place to tie up your kayaks with direct access to the water. If you want to hire kayaks or boats during your stay just head to Bowness and there are plenty of options.

There are endless walking and cycling trails on the doorstep, not to mention opportunities for water sports. You can also enjoy excellent pubs and restaurants nearby including The Drunken Duck and the iconic L'Enclume restaurant.
