Great location
95% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Your perfect getaway. Clawfoot bath. Fireplace. Mezzanine loft bedroom. Tranquil character barn conversion (c.1915) set in gorgeous 'Netherhall' gardens. Read that book. Write that song. 200m to village with several cafes. Close to glow worms, walking & cycle tracks, and southern highlands wineries. 400m to station. Book now and we'll put the fire on!

The space
Morton Cottage was originally a barn and has also been an artist studio. Real log look gas fire. French doors to verandah. Enjoy your complimentary tawny port as you settle in for a movie or a game. Use the picnic backpack and folding chairs provided to have a pop up Highlands picnic.
The bedroom is a mezzanine loft overlooking the lounge. The cosy queen bed has comfy electric blankets. The bedroom has a bird's eye view over the garden.
The bathroom also has a garden view. There is a full-size clawfoot bath and a range of bubbles to try while you soak out your stress. The floor is of Himalayan sandstone, with fossils visible.
Kitchen has a gas cooktop, microwave, bar fridge, and is fully equipped, including basic condiments.
The lounge includes a generous sofa (which has been chosen specifically because it's comfortable for sleeping) and a beautiful fireplace. CDs, videos, books and magazines provided.
Your hosts, Brian and Juanita, live in the residence at the top of the garden, but the cottage is very private with its own separate access off Victoria St.
The garden has been lovingly preserved in the style of the era in the planting selection and 'Edna Walling-esque' garden design. As current owners, we are keen to continue to nurture and complete this vision (if a garden can ever be said to be complete!). There are many birds about. Watch for the red and green King Parrots. Crimson rosellas and black cockatoos are also frequent visitors.

Guest access
Go in through the white gates under the 'Morton Cottage' sign. The light will be on. There is complimentary off-street parking for up to two cars.

Other things to note
Bundanoon is a historic rail town. We are two blocks away from the tracks, but best bring earplugs if you think you may be disturbed.
Two beautiful labracavoodles share the garden with us. Many guests have written that interactions with Rupert and Enzo were a highlight of their stay, but please let us know if you'd prefer us to keep them away.

Bundanoon, New South Wales, Australia

Bundanoon is a small village with a heritage-listed main street. There are several cafes and a couple of gift stores. There is a local supermarket 400m away where you can get most necessities. The village also has a PO, chemist and newsagent. The village retains much of the 1920s character that has drawn visitors to the beautiful bush views and glow worms for 100 years.
The art deco Soldiers Memorial Hall is the centre of village life. We have an excellent program of music or theatre performances most weekends as well as the 'Makers Market' on 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month.
There is an olde English pub, as well as pizza and takeaway options. The Dining Room (Thurs night -Sunday lunch) has an excellent seasonal menu in an evocative 1920s guest house.

Up until recently, we have lived at Cronulla beach in Sydney where Brian loves to surf and Juanita loves to walk and pat other people's dogs. We like bushwalking and discovering new places and trying to spot native creatures. Brian has had medical issues these last few years (from which we are both recovering) but prior to this enjoyed a career in radiography. Juanita has a background in environmental science, and has worked on various projects until she left her government career to do aid work. We lived in South Carolina for a couple of years when Juanita worked for an international aid agency. Juanita loves playing piano and trying to learn French.

During your stay
We live in the house at the top of the garden. We will look out for you when you arrive and come down to greet you and help you settle in. Feel free to SMS if you need anything during your stay. We are happy to spend as much or as little time with you as you like. We have a grand piano up in the house and if you can play, Juanita likes nothing better than to have a singalong. If you need Scrabble or Pictionary partners, we're up for that too! We can also accompany you on a local bush walk if you like (please check ahead regarding availability for this).
