The space
The Vale Rusutsu, crowned the world’s best new ski hotel in 2021 and Japan’s best ski hotel in 2024 at the World Ski Awards, is Rusutsu's most luxurious accommodation. It enjoys a prime ski-in/ski-out location, with proximity to the iconic Kotobuki Onsen.
Located on the top floor of the building, the 286.7 sqm penthouse is its crown jewel, offering four spacious bedrooms with king-size beds or twin-size beds for up to 10 guests. It also features its own private terrace with a Jacuzzi, balcony, barbecue area, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen, 10-seater dining area and a lofty living room.
Designed with nature as its focus, the architecture of the hotel invites in the morning sunlight into the interiors. These bright spaces are also enhanced by the subtle hues of sunset allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of nature from dawn until dusk. As an all-season resort, travellers will relish having the ultimate ski-in/ski-out experience in winter and the outstanding beauty of Hokkaido’s green season in summer.
A wide selection of in-resort activities are available within a convenient distance from The Vale Rusutsu including the Kotobuki Onsen, adventurous winter activities, as well as an amusement park, water park and golf course in summer. Beyond the resort, nature lovers will appreciate the rugged allure of Daisetsuzan National Park, as well as the serene Shikotsu-Tōya National Park, which is adorned with breathtaking caldera lakes, soothing geothermal springs, and the grandeur of Mount Yōtei.
Guest access
Guests enjoy full access to the entire penthouse and all of its luxurious amenities, which include four ensuite bedrooms, a private balcony, terrace, Jacuzzi tub, barbecue grill and other spaces in the unit.

Booking confirmation
We have a 3-day lead time/booking window before check-in. If in case you send out a stay request less than this lead time, this will not guarantee your stay. Please await our confirmation.

Capacity & Extra bedding
- Standard occupancy is 8 guests. Maximum 2 extra bed (futon) is allowed in the unit.
- Extra person (6 years old and above) counts toward maximum occupancy allowed for each unit.
- A child 5 years old and below can stay for free in existing bedding. We strongly recommend for all infants to sleep in cots. We do not recommend for infants to share existing bedding with family or to exceed the maximum occupancy allowed.
- Extra bedding for infant (5 years old and below) is a baby cot/futon at JPY 5,000 per child per 4-night block. High chair is free of charge (advance booking is required).
- Extra person (6 years old and above) fee of JPY 13,100 per person per night is applicable when occupants exceed the standard occupancy for the respective unit. An extra futon will be arranged in the living room and not in the bedrooms due to limited space.
- In the situation that an extra guest stays for only part of the nights booked, the extra person fee still applies for the total nights of the group stay.
Housekeeping
- Service Clean every 2nd day (includes light clean of rooms, replacement of towels and garbage removal).
- Mid Clean every 4th day for stays over 5 nights (includes service clean plus change of linen and vacuum-cleaning of rooms).
*Please note that the accommodation is to be tidy and all cutlery, crockery, kitchenware must be washed upon check-out. A fee will be charged if additional cleaning is required.
Bedding preference
- Bedding may be flexible in the accommodation, but varies bedroom to bedroom.
- Bedding will be arranged in the standard bedding configuration (twin bedding) unless specified otherwise in writing at least 1 month prior to arrival date.
- Where bedding configuration is not supplied within the required time-frame or is incorrect on check-in and needs to be changed, an amendment fee of JPY 5,000 per bedroom will be charged.
