Welcome to Sun Hill Cottage, a stylish yet timeless dog friendly cottage nestled nearing Leyburn. At the cottage you can enjoy using the pool table or taking a dip in the bubbling hot tub to relax and unwind after a day exploring the countryside.

The space
Much more than your traditional country stay, Sun Hill Cottage offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. Set on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, this dog-friendly, three-bedroom cottage is made for family adventures, lazy weekends, and cosy evenings by the fire.

One of three holiday homes on Sun Hill Farm, the cottage is surrounded by rolling countryside — with racehorses training nearby, a private garden hot tub, and even a dining table that doubles as a pool table for family fun.

Step inside and feel instantly at home. With exposed stone walls, solid oak beams, and cosy nooks, the cottage keeps its original character while offering stylish modern bedrooms and sleek bathrooms.

At the heart of the house is the country kitchen, complete with a traditional Aga, a breakfast island, and everything you’ll need for a perfect self-catered stay. And if you’d rather let someone else do the cooking? We can even arrange a private chef to make your stay extra special.

Through the archway, you'll find a welcoming lounge with soft sofas and a roaring log-burning stove — the perfect spot to curl up after a day exploring the Dales. In summer, throw open the French doors to the garden and enjoy the Yorkshire air.

When dinner's over, the fun doesn't stop — flip the dining table and challenge the family to a game of pool! Outside, the enclosed garden is made for long afternoons, with comfy rattan seating, a gas BBQ, and a bubbling jacuzzi-style hot tub where you can soak under the stars.

Enjoy breakfast while watching the racehorses train in the paddocks next door — it’s a truly magical sight you won’t forget.

Sun Hill Cottage sleeps six guests comfortably across three gorgeous bedrooms. Upstairs, you’ll find two beautiful rooms, both with en-suite bathrooms. One has a king-size bed, and the second can be made up as a super-king or a twin to suit your group.

The third bedroom is on the ground floor, making it a great option for guests with reduced mobility. This bedroom also has an en-suite wet room and easy access to the garden.

Located close to the charming market towns of Leyburn and Middleham, you’re perfectly placed for country walks, cosy pubs, and exploring the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. Whether you're here for family time, fresh air, or simply to relax and reconnect, Sun Hill Cottage is a place where memories are made.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire property. You can enjoy a seamless arrival experience with self-check-in starting at 4 PM on the day of their arrival, using our convenient key safe. This allows you to settle in at your leisure and begin your stay without any hassle.

Other things to note
Sun Hill Cottage is part of a trio of holiday cottages that can be booked together to accommodate up to 18 guests, including Sun Hill Farmhouse (sleeps 10) and Sun Hill Palins (sleeps 2). While there are no strict amenity restrictions in place, we kindly ask guests to get in touch if they plan to book any additional services or extras, so we can assist in coordinating them.

Located on a working race yard, Sun Hill Farm offers guests the unique opportunity to take part in stable tours—please contact us for more information. We also have a selection of highly recommended private chefs and a wonderful beauty therapist available to enhance your stay.

Leyburn is the closest town and offers a range of everyday shopping within 4 miles of this Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage. It offers a range of everyday shopping, as well as inns and tearooms. Try something sweet from Inspired Chocolate, who make delicious artisanal chocolates. Also, make sure to visit the weekly market on a Friday.

Just a mile down the road in Constable Burton is popular bar and restaurant The Wyvill Arms. Close by in Finghall is another pub with a good pub garden. The Yorkshire Dales offers stunning walks, dog-friendly days out, and activities aplenty. Hawes, Bedale, Richmond and Harrogate are all within an easy drive of Sun Hill Farm. They each have something to impress everyone in your group. You can find guides to each in our Journal.

Only 3 miles away is the well-known historical racing town of Middleham. And for any horse racing enthusiasts, you can even book a guided stable tour of the racing yard at Sun Hill and get to know the horses and meet the staff.
