A Scandinavian style wooden building refurbished to a high standard, standing in the grounds of a 16th century black and white cottage. Located on a forested hillside with glorious views, yet only a few miles from the charming market town of Ludlow.

The space
Whilst set in the gardens of a traditional country cottage, this is a self-contained building which has a contemporary feel. It benefits from a versatile open plan sleeping/living area on one level. The convertible bed has been chosen carefully, both to prioritize comfort and in order to maximize the facility by enabling the room to be converted within minutes from sleeping space to lounge space, should you wish to do so. We will have the bed made up ready for your arrival. Up a few steps onto the next level, there is a kitchenette (with microwave, small fridge, kettle and a toaster) with a breakfast bar, and a shower room. The accommodation has been recently converted and refurbished. One of the owners is a three dimensional designer, and this is reflected in the simple, contemporary style.

Guest access
As well as having the sole use of the studio, which is entirely self-contained, you will have the use of a patio with table and seating. There is also off-road parking for guests.

Other things to note
The owners are vegetarian and therefore breakfasts, which are of a continental style, consist of healthy, non-meat items. These will be locally sourced where possible.

Location

Ludlow, United Kingdom

To quote from The Guardian, May 2016 "This swath south of the Shropshire Hills between Ludlow and the Welsh border is a magical patch straight off the pages of Tolkien, with wooded hills, woodland elves (maybe), rustic taverns and pretty towns and villages filled with old, half-timbered houses painted black-and-white, like a crooked Mondrian".
We are located in the hills above Ludlow, an area which is ideal walking, cycling and bird watching country, a base for visiting grand homes and castles and just nine plus miles from the Welsh border. The Cathedral cities of Hereford, Shrewsbury and Worcester are an hour by car. Ludlow, fifteen minutes by car, is an ancient town above the circling River Teme, the castle precariously perched on a hill and Georgian and medieval houses and it boasts many independent shops. Ludlow is also famous for the selection of good quality eating houses and establishments offering fine dining. A quote about Ludlow by Sir John Betjeman reads " Ludlow....is probably the loveliest town in England with its hill of Georgian houses ascending from the river Teme to the great tower of the cross-shaped church, rising behind a classic market building."
Wigmore, 3 miles away, has two great pubs serving good food.

I live near Ludlow with my wife Karen having moved from Norwich four years ago. From the 70's I attended Hornsey College of Art, London, Sir John Cass College, London and then post graduate studies at the University of East Anglia and recently Birmingham City University. My practice is art and three dimensional design . I am a member of Alloy, Hereford, a professional group of designer/makers and I teach part-time at the local College of Art. Originally coming from London I have lived in the countryside for most of my adult life with not a single regret! Our favorite destination at the moment is Cuba by independent travel and staying in Casa Particulars.
