Note that the island's climate is very hot and humid, which encourages the appearance of some “undesirable guests” such as cockroaches, lizards and ants. Despite quarterly pest control, in a country house it is impossible to completely eliminate these pests that proliferate across the island. To minimize the entry of these animals, keep doors and windows closed at night as they roam and fly during the night. We locals are used to all this type of wild life but we understand that you are not, so, If you are not a fan of local wildlife this is not the place for you to choose. The sound doesn't stop—it follows you to sleep and is the first thing you hear in the morning. Casa das Dias is a 1-bedroom house located in the historical center of Vila Franca, right in front of the sea with an outsanding view to the Atlantlic Ocean and Ilhéu, a volcanic islet known among the villagers as the Princess Ring. Our Retreat is a rural nineteenth-century house, restored with the desire to conserve the time of construction characteristics. Not only did we keep the main structure of the house, but also the fire oven and the respective chimney, the mill of wine production and the basalt stone floor . And, to finalize we added a suspended living room - literally a glass cube.
