Luxurious Homestay on Ganga Riverbank, Uttarkashi

AmieRating, 5 stars26 months ago
This homestay is amazing! The room had everything we needed and an incredible view as well. We sat on the balcony and watched the river go by. There is also a place very near where you can bathe in the Ganga. It was a deeply relaxing experience. But what makes this home stay shine is Shiv and his family. We immediately felt at home. Shiv’s wife and daughter are wonderful cooks. We loved every meal. Shiv’s son took us around Uttarkashi Introducing us to the many beautiful temples within the town. It was magical. Shiv helped us organize taxi’s and anything else we needed. Truly a gem!!!

A family suite at Katapatthar.

I have been to a lot of Airbnbs & this was easily one of the most unusual ones. Reading the reviews I got to know there is some history associated with the place. Apparently, someone from a royal Nepal family relocated here way back in 1931 & spent the rest of his years at this place until his death in 1993. Our room didn't capture much of this history though, except for a booklet written in 1942. However, the dining room was full of stuff from the 20th century. We found a well maintained visitor book there. The place has been having visitors since over 60 years! Located in a village in Katapathar & about 400 m from Yamuna river, the property is an interesting relic of the past. It's great for someone looking to spend time away from the city. Though both of us felt that TV/free wi-fi can be provided. The caretakers were great & the food was fabulous. We had a good time at the place.

Himalayan Homestay Uttrakhand

DipendraRating, 5 stars45 months ago
My wife and I stayed for a night prior to our Har Ki Dun trek. It's a perfect homestay with a traditional family in the heart of Soud village. The room is adjacent to the rooms of other family members and is minimalistic. The view from the common balcony is soothing. The food which was garden fresh and simple was served with lots of love. A big thanks to Devender for all the help, information and assistance. He organized small treks (on payment) and we were escorted by chirpy little teenagers from their family who made it worthwhile. Clarify on the costs of food/trek beforehand in order to avoid surprises. The toilets are not attached with the rooms and theres a fly menace if you eat in the common balcony. All in all an simple yet exotic experience with a beautiful traditional joint family.
The image captures a panoramic view of lush green hills rising above a river, with a tranquil expanse of water flowing below. Several structures nestled along the riverbank are visible, surrounded by trees and vegetation, enhancing the natural setting.

Ashish and his family were great hosts. We felt like we were at our second home away from home as we were offered homely and delicious food. Ashish's place is calm & serene with beautiful views of Ganges from the common area. We spent our most of the time in this common area. Would love to visit again. Thanks Ashish & family.

Brigadier’s Cottage Superior Room , Awesome View.

We spent 5 nights & Diwali in this charming place, exactly as described in the listing and worthy of every great review it has received. Aseem & Neetu Verma manage the place very professionally with much consideration to comfort, cleanliness & aesthetics. Their personal touches, care for detail and thoughtfulness touched us to the core. Their staff is extremely helpful and pleasant, rooms are very comfortable, view is great from the balcony & we were treated to delicious, large spread of food, prepared hygienically with fresh local produce, all served with love. Inclusion in their Diwali festivities & fireworks (without any additional charge) made us feel like family & shows their large heartedness and genuine love for people. Thank you Aseem and Neetu for creating this haven. Your efforts, passion and fidelity towards your mission is heart-warming and your journey is inspiring. We hope to visit again soon. Everyone, look no further; Brigadier’s Cottage encapsulates a perfect getaway!

Great location! Set in a very picturesque location in and around apple orchards. The hosts are always there to help and find a solution. Thanks to Sandeep and Devender for their great hospitality! The camps are set in a quite and peaceful region where tourism has not been commercialized much hence you would see the roads are not in their perfect condition. Traveling by a car with a good ground clearance is recommended, although I was able to complete my trip in a hatchback with minor damages. PS: their food is amazing! Had a great time during breakfast and dinner buffets and they can also light a bonfire on request.

Lovely & Clean Rooms to Refresh.

SunidhiRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Okay, so Gomukh Hotel in Uttarkashi? Pretty solid choice! The room was spacious and had all the basics—kitchenette, electric kettle, and hot water (thank goodness, because winter here is no joke). Only thing? It felt a tad dusty, like it hadn’t seen guests in a while. Nothing major, but a little sprucing up would’ve been nice. Location-wise, couldn’t ask for better—super close to the ghat and the bus/taxi stand. No long walks, no stress. Now, let me tell you about Akash, the co-host. Not only did he help us lug our bags up two flights of stairs (yep, no lift—pack light, folks!), but he also moved us to a quieter room when we mentioned some construction noise. His kindness made the stay so much better. Small hiccups aside, it’s a great spot for the price, and Akash’s hospitality is next level. Would we stay again? Absolutely! 😊
