The cozy owner-built cabin has an open ceiling with exposed beams and rafters giving a sense of spaciousness. Local stone was used in the exterior walls and the floor-to-ceiling fire back behind the wood-burning stove. The floors are oak and slate. Detailed craftsmanship can be found throughout the cabin.

We loved the grain bill cabin! It is very light and comfortable inside. The view from the cabin is very peaceful as the windows look out to rolling hills covered in prairie grass. Definitely recommend if you need a quiet place to unwind and relax. Also the surrounding country side is very beautiful. We took the long route to Elkader in the morning for breakfast, and the scenery was very beautiful. Would highly recommend this place!

Great little cabin. You do get all of your money worth; from the moment you walk in, you have all you need. Place is well maintained and all the little gadgets you need when cooking away from home. There is a business next door to the patio off of the cabin and unfortunately, we could hear them working most of the day. If the patio would have had one more section of fence, it would have felt much more “private” But, I am overall satisfied and would rent from this family again!!
