The Shackteau

A rustic cabin, right out of “Deliverance.” Inside, it's a well equipped clean and cozy retreat overlooking the world famous Margaree River and hills. Margaree Forks is a great place to get away from it all, yet close to everything in western Cape Breton. I believe my happiest guests are those who are familiar with the camping lifestyle but now want something more comfortable. The owners now live in their new home on the property. Welcome to "The Wild Chicken Holiday Suite" We are situated 1 km from the National Park and 5 minutes to downtown Cheticamp. The suite has a dream coffee bar with excellent coffee and tea choices as well as other hot beverages too. You will also be delighted with fresh that morning seasonal muffins that I personally make and forage the fruit for! You also have your own private deck and entrance with a bistro table and umbrella! The basement space is ideal for two people. Private entrance with all the amenities for a quiet comfortable stay. Walking trail through old growth hemlocks and yoga studio on site. We do have a large dog, Nelson. He is very friendly and loves to go for walks in the woods. We are conveniently located 10 minutes from the Newfoundland Ferry, 25 minutes to Baddeck and 25 minutes to Sydney.
