Carey was very welcoming and engaging. She put fresh baked cookies in the room and they were delicious! The room was spacious and comfy. There is a full kitchen, washer and dryer, etc. This felt like home to me. Again, Carey (and her hub Tony) were friendly, engaging, and interesting prople! The room is within walking distance from downtown and a few restaurants (the Mexican place has good menu including a surprising selection of seafood). And, it is a short drive to Abingdon if you want to enjoy some local history and cool shops.

I cannot say enough, good things about our short stay. We booked it because we couldn’t find a hotel last minute that fit our needs and decided to do this on our drive from Chattanooga to Washington DC. We got in pretty late and got in without an issue. The house was so comfortable and the beds were perfect for our family. The kitchen was very well stocked and functional. There were a ton of towels and washcloths in the bathroom and the bathroom was spotless. My kids really enjoyed exploring the outside in the morning as the scenery was so beautiful. We had absolutely no issues and had a perfect stay. If we are passing through again, we will definitely come back! Thank you so much!!

This was my second trip at Close Quarters and it was just as good as the first. The little town of Gate City is beautiful and full of historic sights. The mountain view is beautiful and the trains run often enough to catch a glimpse each day. The home is cozy and perfect for two. I always feel at peace when visiting. The hosts leave multiple snacks and waters for guests & it is overall a wonderful stay. We love visiting this little town when we attend Smoky Mountain Terror Convention & hope to be back next August!

The place was absolutely what we expected. The photos don’t do it justice. It was private, quiet, well maintained with a beautiful sprawling yard and surrounding property. Our doggo absolutely loved running through the field. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us and the dog. All the linens were fresh and smelled great. The seating inside was wonderful for tv time and dinner. Elevation changes are common in the area and we loved to rolling roads and property. The hosts were excellent toward us and we had some good conversation after check in. If we find ourselves back in the area, we will absolutely love the cottage.
