Tateyama.This is a historic village of Tateyama worshippers, nestled deep in Tateyama at the foot of the Tateyama mountain range. During the Edo period, it served as a gateway to "the other world (the mountain)" and a village that welcomed pilgrims from all over the country in its shukubo lodges. There were 33 shukubo lodges that welcomed pilgrims heading for Mt. Tateyama from all over the country.People stayed here, prayed, and set off for the sacred mountain, Tateyama. Even today, the village retains its former appearance, with Oyama Shrine, the Nakamiya Prayer Hall, the red wooden bridge known as Nunohashi, which is considered to be the Sanzu River that separates the living world from the underworld (the world after death), Enma-do, Mandala Yu-en, and the old shukubo. Tateyama is a special mountain that has long been associated with hell, the Pure Land, and the story of rebirth. Don't just visit the tourist spots.
