If you are looking for a peace of mind and want take a break from city life this a recommend place to look for. Affordable, well maintained and warm approach by the host give a home like vibe to this place. 5 stars, highly recommended.

We can only give 5 stars on every count - I wish we could give more. Binduraj is a kind, thoughtful and interesting soul and his hospitality was boundless! He showed us round the stunning island, delivered us the most delicious food, and allowed us to check in SO early (even coming to pick us up in his boat at 6am). This was easily one of the best Air BnB experiences I’ve had - the village was amazing, the backwaters beautiful. We even ventured out in his kayak! Could not recommend more.

Facilities beyond the expectations and lovely atmosphere to stay. Calm, peaceful & non-intervention of facilitator. This is the first time I experienced homely feeling in an accommodation.

It's hard to really put into words just how amazing Vijeesh's place and hospitality are ... this is one of the best, most fun and most unique holiday experiences we have ever had and we were both sad to leave. It was easily the best experience of our 3-week holiday in Kerala, and seeing as we have been to some amazing places and seen some amazing things, this is really saying something! From the first time we walked up the steps to our room, and saw the shared open terrace with the huge dining table, loads of seating and hammocks, day beds outside the rooms and jungle all around, we felt like we had arrived at a very special temporary home ... and home really is the word to describe this place, as the hospitality, banter, food and all-round welcome were second to none. Vijeesh's mum can really cook, and every meal we had was a different treat and mix of local specialities - even down to the Communist-red beetroot chapatis :) On a practical note, we were amazed to find the area pretty much mosquito-free despite it being surrounded by water - as Vijeesh explained, the water is a mix of sea and river (really nice for swimming), so not really conducive to the mosquito breeding cycle. The weather was also relatively cool (for Kerala - i.e. really pleasant and summery) and the trees provided plenty of shade from the sun. We were really happy to find a water filter machine on site, and so were able to fill up and re-use our plastic bottles as required. We were also really happy to find bicycles which we could use to explore the area. The extras provided by Vijeesh were the stand-out features of the stay. His personality is as huge as his smile and as bright as the twinkle in his eyes, and his local knowledge of the waterways and villages is in-depth and really interesting. We took two canoe tours with him - one at dawn and one at dusk - and this was a proper treat. He was happy to point out any wildlife and other interesting things to see, stopped so we could watch some local women weaving rope from coconut husk fibres, took us to a local chai shop on the riverbank, and let us jump in to swim in the safest and most lovely spots - you must try this if you go on the boat trip, as his method for getting back into the canoe was inventive and amazingly simple. Finally, his place seems to attract really lovely travellers and we had loads of fun and interesting talks with new friends from Germany, UK, Italy and Sweden, some of whom we have already seen again! All in all, we cannot recommend this highly enough and plan to return as soon as we are back in Kerala for another trip. 12/10 - nice one Vijeesh :) xxx

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a homestay during my visit to a Munroe Island. I must say, the experience was truly remarkable. The owner, Devika, was extremely supportive and helpful throughout our stay. The homestay was cozy and comfortable, offering all the necessary amenities one could ask for. The authentic food served was simply delicious and made our stay even more memorable. Devika went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. She was always available to assist us with anything we needed. Overall, I highly recommend this homestay to anyone planning a visit to this scenic tourist destination. The warm hospitality, comfortable accommodation, and delicious food provided by Devika made our trip truly unforgettable. I am looking forward to my next visit!

The Paddle Cult crew are awesome! Super cool, laid back, and seem like fun. We didn't get a chance to hang out with them too much because of our schedule, but it seemed like a lot of other guests really connected with them. The space is a 10 min walk to the black sand beach, and about 15 minutes to Varkala beach. We loved the design of the property and getting to start the day with dahl and chai in the patio. :)

We spent three nights at Anita’s and felt right at home from the moment we arrived. We were shown to our room, which was a non-AC accommodation. However, its location ensured that it never became too hot. Anita’s is just a two-minute walk from the coastal area of Varkala and about a 10- to 15-minute walk to the town centre. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, as well as numerous yoga classes suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to those with more experience. Breakfast is available, and laundry services can be arranged for a fee.

My stay here was exactly what I needed to settle me into India as a first timer. I am truly grateful for everyone who works there and are very accommodating. Their kindness is beyond measure and my heart was very happy staying here, I would most definitely return and stay again. Thank you so much, I will miss it ❤️

Shama's place is on the South Cliff... away from the North cliff, which is really what we were looking for... some peace and quiet and to focus on beach time. The beach was a good 7-10 min walk with the 4 year old and we got back home by climbing the cliff steps at Tripp is Life. Soul and Surf was a breezy 15-20 min walk away for us. The room was spacious, cool, tastefully done, had an attached bathroom with an open to sky bath area which was stunning. The sit-out was where we ate our very wholesome breakfasts and hung out when we got back from our beach days. The garden facing room gave us privacy that we needed. Varkala was spectacular and what made it so special was our stay. The staff was attentive and helpful. We'd look forward to coming back to stay at Shama's place when we return to Varkala.

Mad about Coco has a great, central location, on is minutes to the beach and at the breakfast cafe. Breakfast overlooking the sea is super good! The rooms are really very simple, but the hosts are always friendly and there whenever you need anything. If you want a quiet room, you should note this in advance.
