Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Two-minute walk to the ferry dock for a visit to Lummi Island. This guest house is not directly on or facing the beach. However, when you walk about 50 feet, through the gate, on the side of and past the main house, you will be next to the beach and can watch the sunset over Lummi Bay on Gooseberry Point in relaxed Whatcom County.

Charming Farm House on Lummi Island Flower Farm

This farm house and its stunning setting are far beyond what can be captured in photographs. We didn’t want to leave! The care is present in the details of every room - both in the immense care with which this house has been restored but also in the thoughtful guest forward items. Room spray, feather beds, fresh cut flowers in nearly every room. Gorgeous original artwork and fixtures, high end cookware and knives…I could go on and on. My girlfriends who were there and their husbands agreed, we all want to have a house like this “when we’re grown ups!” Highly recommend booking at least three nights to see the full charm of the island, beach comb and sleep in. I literally awoke to the sound of an eagle cry.

SOL (Simple Off-grid Living) Camper with Sauna

I wish there were more places like this. The SOL camper is not your typical AirBnB. Don’t expect hotel amenities. It’s as described: a step above glamping, which is awesome if it’s what you’re looking for. I stayed for a month and it felt like home. It’s tucked away in the back corner of the property, so there’s privacy from other residents. I barely saw anyone the whole time I was there, which made me feel like I had the place to myself. It’s close to the road, so you do get some headlights shining through the camper, but not a ton. The shower gets nice and hot. Travis is very helpful and easy to communicate with. He even had it ready for me to check in a few days early. It was a great experience all around and one I hope to repeat.
