Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Lake Victoria

Our stay on Bulago island at Tom's house was just great. From the house, beautifully situated above the water on the far west tip of the island, you have an amazing view over the lake, which gets even better with every step you climb up behind the house up to the hill, which is the highest point of the island. The house is fully equipped with all you need and Tom is an awesome host! We'll soon be back.

Had a wonderful stay in Kisumu. The house was exactly what we needed and in a great location. The added guest house in the back is a really helpful option for large families or groups. We didn’t use it this time, but will definitely book again next time we are in the area!

Enormous 20th Century guest house – comfortably fits 4 couples/children, with dining and living area, plus enormous gorgeous garden + gazebo fit for a hotel. Housekeeping staff were present and helpful throughout

My stay at this Airbnb was absolutely wonderful! The host, Martha and her team were very responsive and accommodating from the moment I booked. The property was beautifully decorated and exuded a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep each night. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, with plenty of fresh towels. The location of the Airbnb was perfect, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and local attractions. I would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. I can't wait to visit again!

Angella & Renske were amazing hosts with this special place that is so welcoming! + We loved the small welcoming basket full of small essentials for our arrival night. + We loved the comforts of the big fluffy towels, the beautiful private backyard with the comfy outside lounging, the soft beds, and the nicely furnished sitting room. Every place has their “quirks”, so here’s some things to know while booking - Like they share, the washrooms are a bit dated so they don’t appear clean but they are! And really they fit the job for what they’re made for 😂 - The TV isn’t a smart TV so you won’t be able to login to Netflix, Hulu, etc…. But just go outside instead! - The private parking is shared with two other connecting homes in the compound & is REALLY steep! And small. But still secure so that’s a bonus.

Rachell was very helpful, responsive, quick to follow-up to make sure all was well and we were comfortable. The place was excellent, clean, spacious and well designed. Only minor recommendation are need for fans in all rooms for the few hot nights. Unfortunately we stayed only one night, but would have loved to stay longer. I will definitely come back. I highly recommend Rachell's place. She was an excellent host with a good supporting team on site.

it's a cool place to be

Honestly speaking, there's not enough words to describe how privileged i was to stay at Sophie's world! The apartment was exactly as described - clean, cozy, spacious and very private. The Apartment is located in a gated community with very professional 24-hr security guards overseeing access and egress for visitors. The neighborhood is very peaceful which attracts people from different walks of life. Sophie was such a fantastic host, communicative, and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. The little touches, such as extra bed linen, pillows and towels, made my stay feel truly special. I appreciated the thoughtful recommendations for local restaurants, grocery stores and attractions, which helped me make the most of my time in Kampala. For anyone out there looking for a comfortable stay, value for money and a welcoming host, I recommend Sophie's world with the highest regard. Thank you, Sophie, for making my stay in Uganda memorable. I will surely be back!

Pictures don't do justice to this place. it's huge, spacious, quiet and also very clean. Check in was seamless and I loved the fact that Chintu kept checking in on me to see if I was okay. Lovely place and easy to find. I'd definately consider it again and again whenever I'm in Jinja. it's also very secure and very safe...

Kelly’s place was a gem of a villa. Perfect for families, great attention to detail and a wonderful garden. Poolside is serene and the rooms are very comfortable and well styled. Kelly is a great host and great communicator and the staff are welcoming and helpful! Karibu!

This is a very special place and the whole idea and concept of social tourism appealed. My wife was able to volunteer at a local medical clinic and I volunteered at the local college which was absolutely inspiring. All of the staff at Oldarpoi were so friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant was great and we enjoyed cocktails around the fire pit every night. Oldarpoi does have a generator for when the electricity drops but it took a while to kick in at times making it difficult to keep things cool in the fridge (staff did offer to store perishable food in their fridge in the main kitchen if needed.) It would be beneficial to take a torch although paraffin lamps were available. We did a walking safari and game drive with local Maasai guide Moses which was absolutely breathtaking and we learned so much. Pool was huge (much larger than photos on website!) Cannot recommend highly enough! A wonderful experience escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We stayed at Diana's place for 4 nights with 5 of us in our group. The house is very private, with a nice big yard/car park and a secure gate off the main road, so it's much quieter than staying on the main road. Diana's staff, whom she has employed, were very friendly and helped us sort out washing laundry, and anything else we needed during our stay. The WIFI connection was high-speed, the bathrooms were clean and spacious, and the bedrooms had good storage for our clothing and suitcases. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back the next time we pass through Kampala! Thanks, Diana, for hosting us.

We had a great time at this place. The caretaker was helpful and considerate. The private garden provided a great playground and featured the occasional wild birds as well as fresh fruits. Definitely recommendable

We had a wonderful stay at Meegesh's place. We travelled with our four kids, ages 4-12. We could not have been more pleased. Meegesh was an exceptional host, and his family and staff took us in and treated us like one of their own family. Their staff Arnold and Shico took great care of us. Meegesh arranged a standard game drive in the Mara Triangle, but also arranged a walking safari through his conservancy as well as a game drive through the conservancy. All were amazing and unique experiences, and for our kids who saw thousands of animals, it was heaven. As someone else mentioned, you will see animals the moment you leave his property. Between safaris the kids enjoyed playing with the farm animals and just running around. We felt incredibly welcome and at home. The only points to be aware of are that his place is a little far (which makes it in a great location), and a little rustic as mentioned in prior reviews. But overall Meegesh provides a great authentic Kenyan experience.

I had a great stay at the “Urban Oasis” apartment in Bugolobi while on a business trip to Kampala. The location was excellent, and I was impressed by the walking/jogging opportunities within the Estate. The location was safe, and within easy reach of the Village Mall and several forex bureaus to exchange foreign currency. The apartment was also walking distance to Bandali rise, and if you are into nightlife, you will not be disappointed with the wide variety of very busy clubs at your disposal on this street!!. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean, well-furnished, and exactly as described in the listing. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made it easy to prepare meals, and the living area was cozy and perfect for relaxing after a day out. The host was incredibly responsive, providing clear check-in instructions and followed up to ensure I had a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Kampala, whether for business or leisure!

Clare's place is just what I needed in my search for a home away from home. It's easy to locate and is in an area near to all you could need in the form of amenities. She is very responsive and communicates promptly. I would definitely recommend her place and I look forward to being hosted again.

It was a joy for me and my partner to stay at Jenny's place. The location was calming and peaceful; a good getaway from the hustle and bustle of Kampala. The bnb is located 15min from Bule Landingsight where we docked with a boat organised for us by Jenny. The boda boda ride to the tucked-away sanctuary was just as scenic as the journey on Lake Victoria. We specifically enjoyed the privacy of the bnb including how quiet it was and the outside kitchen with all amenities. The birds and other interesting wildlife spotted on the property were an extra perk for me. The staff was helpful, discrete and dedicated to helping us have a good time. We will certainly be back in future.
