House was perfect for a lake trip room for cozy and comfy. One of the better parts of the house was the party barn to hang out and Cook. The boat slip had an extra spot to dock your boat plus private boat ramp.

StephanieRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We loved everything about our stay at Margaritaville! The place was so clean and fully stocked when we arrived. We spent every day down at the lake enjoying the beautiful view and pristine yard. Everyone even took a turn on the rope swing. I can’t say enough about what a great place this is. We can’t wait to book again!

Sherry was a great host! The property was very peaceful and secluded. Kind enough to open the basketball court door for us in the middle of our trip and accommodated us greatly. Recommend booking with her and this property very much.

Tranquility Villa by the lake with green backyard

RobertRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Tranquility is an appropriate term for Gigi’s place. Miles of hiking trails on the golf course. Plenty of catchable fish just yards from the villa. Abundant wildlife almost close enough to touch. We came for two months to escape Michigan winters. The best part for us was the back deck which is all woodland. It also has a grill so you could make your own BBQ. We had the privilege to visit with Gigi and she is so kind and considerate. She makes you feel like family.

Escape to the Pointe - Superior Sunset location!

MarthaRating, 5 stars6 months ago
So much room! Wonderful kitchen to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Be prepared to bring your own paper products and anything you’ll need for cooking beyond salt and pepper. Wonderful dishes, mugs and glassware. We enjoyed the screened in porch and the big dock for fishing and getting in and out of our kayaks. The yard is nice and big and the fire pot was enjoyable. The garage apartment worked perfectly for our overnight guests. We can’t wait to go back!!

Luxe Lakefront, Cowboy Pool, Kayaks, Fire Pit,Dock

SamanthaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We absolutely loved this place! It didn’t feel like we were staying at a typical airbnb - it felt like we were staying at our most thoughtful and stylish friend’s house. Everything was labeled for easy access, and the nightlights (!!!) were a great touch, especially since we were there with smaller kids. Everything was clean and very well-maintained. The location was perfect and so quiet. If we are ever in the area again, I would absolutely stay here another time. Thanks Amanda and Mark for a great experience - you guys knocked it out of the park with this one!

Lakefront Home with Car Charger Plug

KendraRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Reyna was a gracious host with a really clean home in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen has a lot of counter space to store your dry goods without using the cabinets if you don't want to and there is a small inlet in the backyard is anyone wants to try their handis at catching any fish. The place is only a 15 minute scenic drive to Beacon Bay which is perfect for trips to the lake. Thank you for your hospitality!

Lake Breeze Haven

JessiRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
We were traveling with 5 kids and wanted a house to keep them busy - this place DID NOT disappoint! My littlest two were so excited to find Legos and Barbies downstairs! We had endless Ping Pong tournaments! And the star of the show?? The rope swing on the dock! I can’t think of the last time they had so much fun! I’m talking hours upon hours of swinging into the lake. We caught lots of fish as well - both big and small. The hosts seem to have thought of everything that you might need for a vacay on the lake. There were floats for the water, fishing gear, life jackets, and of course kayaks. The house itself was also well stocked and we had everything we needed for a relaxing, yet busy, few days in Texas. We come to this area often, and my kids have already asked if we can rent this again! 5 STARS!

Family friendly lake front home on Lake Livingston

MarkRating, 5 stars1 month ago
What a weekend! This house has it all. Pristine cleanliness, wonderful views and feels like a home away from home. Kid friendly games and activities included with the stay. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed and forgot we needed to prepare a big family meal. The porches are wonderful places to gather and watch the wild life. The hosts are so accommodating and it’s obvious they take pride in their property and providing a family friendly home. We visited other rentals in the area that our friends were staying at that were twice the money and not near the overall experience of this place. Get more bang for your buck and rent this place. You won’t be disappointed!!

Bavarian Lake Cottage - Kayaks/Lake access/Hot tub

AfsheenRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Jennifer was the nicest host throughout our stay. She was always responsive and very considerate of all our needs. The house in itself is a beauty. There's also another little house on top of the garage that's so cute all set up like a hotel room. The outside area is huge and super private and the canopied deck was so beautiful to sit or swing and watch the rain. We'll definitely be returning here!

Lake Cabin in the Forest - Houston National Forest

FaythRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Reina & Randall’s place is an absolute gem! It’s the perfect glamping getaway peaceful, scenic, and thoughtfully designed. Our two dogs had the time of their lives exploring the property, running around, sniffing everything in sight, and even taking a dip in the water. My husband and I loved the slow, quiet pace of the area. Mornings were especially relaxing as we eased into the day using the well-stocked kitchenette to prepare our meals. Everything we needed was there from cooking utensils to grill and campfire supplies. They truly thought of everything to make the stay fun and easy: kayaks, a rowboat, life jackets, cornhole, and horseshoes. Even though the lake was a bit low during our visit, it didn’t take away from the experience at all. The cabin was cozy, the setup was great, and the bathroom was clean and stocked with towels & extra essentials. We had such a memorable weekend celebrating my birthday. The property was beautiful & they were incredibly kind. I recommend to anyone

No Cleaning Fee - Chill AtTrinity River House

LettyRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Had a great Memorial weekend with the family at Miguel’s place. Was right by the water with boat ramp and pier for fishing. Caught a few fish but the water had a lot of debris there floating through but other than that it was good. We had fun with the games up stairs and in the downstairs room. They have axes and ninja stars to throw at the bullseye. Plastic of course but still fun and they also had corn hole as well. It was very peaceful and relaxing and we enjoyed our stay.

Your guide to Lake Livingston

Welcome to Lake Livingston

Peaceful Lake Livingston isn’t the most popular body of water in Texas, and that’s just how visitors and locals like it. Covering about 90,000 acres, it’s the second-largest lake in the state, so it’s easy to launch your boat from one of the 100 or so ramps and find a quiet, shady beach where you can spend the day swimming, fishing, or simply relaxing. And keep an eye out for wildlife — white-tailed deer, waterfowl, raccoons, armadillos, swamp rabbits, and even the occasional alligator live along the flat, wooded shores.

Livingston, the largest town in the area, is 10 minutes from the lake, but several small communities dot its shores. Swim in some of the lake’s prettiest blue water off quiet Blanchard on the eastern shore, or fish in one of the many coves around Point Blank on the western side. Bustling Onalaska sits on a peninsula on the northeastern side of the lake at one end of the picturesque Lake Livingston Bridge, and Trinity, the largest lakeside town, has a number of restaurants and shops, and one business that visitors have claimed is haunted.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake Livingston

With its warm days and abundant, blooming wildflowers, spring is the most pleasant time of year to stay in one of Lake Livingston’s vacation rentals. From early March to mid-May, bluebonnets, firewheels, Texas Indian paintbrush, and buttercups carpet the forest floor. But for a taste of small-town life, visit in summer, when the event calendar is chock-full of celebrations, including the Fourth of July picnic in the park, Saturday farmers’ markets, and regular Trade Day flea markets in nearby Livingston and Coldspring. Also, each June, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe, whose territory is located east of Livingston, welcomes visitors to their annual powwow event.

Top things to do in Lake Livingston

Lake Livingston State Park

A small plot of protected land on the southeastern shore of Lake Livingston, this state park is nonetheless packed with opportunities for outdoor recreation. Rent canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards from the park store; participate in ranger-led activities; or hike one of the six short trails that wind through the park.

Fishing

Lake Livingston is well known among anglers for its white bass fishing, but you might also hook crappie or massive catfish, which are abundant. Unless you plan to fish from the shores of Lake Livingston State Park, you’ll need a license, which you can purchase at bait shops and sporting goods stores. The park store also offers loaner fishing poles.

Livingston Heritage Park

Glimpse the past at Livingston’s Heritage Park, home to a locomotive built in 1911 that once transported lumber between mill towns in the area, and the historic Jonas Davis Log Cabin. Other notable historical sites include the Old City Cemetery, which dates back to 1840, and Old Town Coldspring, which includes a replica general store and a two-room schoolhouse from the 1920s.
