和楽庵【Twin】100 Year old Machiya Guest House (3 pax)

Very, very satisfied experience with one stay!I finally stayed in my dream townhouse. This trip to Kyoto was arranged because I got a two-day homestay. It didn't disappoint me at all!Great location, about 200 meters from the door you can take 203.204, it is easy to go to Kinkakuji Temple, Kiyomizu Temple and the business district!I can only stay in Kyoto for two days, so the time is very tight, I left early and came back late, I didn't have time to enjoy this house, it's a work of art! When it's the red maple season, I must come to Kyoto again and I must get that room at that time!

Breakfast incl/KINGYOYA renovated traditional house/Twin Room

Such an amazing host! The space is so beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. In the common space, there is a traditional Japanese garden that is stunning. They use a lot of incense too, making it so calming. You also get a traditional Japanese breakfast in the morning! You get your own room/bed, with shared bathroom. We went in the summer and thank God, there was AC in our bedroom. There's also so many family-owned restaurants in the area. We ate at so many hidden gems. All in all, incredibly worth it.

游庵 Hardwood floor & Tatami mat room near 金閣寺

The room we live in is upstairs, there are three windows, it is very spacious and bright, the view from each window is different, but they are all beautiful. It's quiet at night, and at 3 or 4 in the morning, the insects and birds will start to sing, just like when I was a kid at home. The host will pick you up and drop you off at the subway station or nearby attractions, like Kinkakuji Temple.Breakfast was especially delicious. I had insomnia the first night, so I didn't let the Host prepare my portion in order to sleep a little longer. I only ate on the day of check-out, which was a pity!Next time I have the opportunity to go to Kyoto, I will want to stay again.

Delicate pink flowers are visible against a backdrop of traditional wooden architecture. The blossoms emerge from leafy green branches, while a bamboo screen and warm-toned wooden structure frame the scene. Soft natural light filters through the leaves, creating a serene atmosphere.

I stayed here for 2 days and had a great time. The beds are very comfortable and the shared spaces are very nice and well-maintained. It was fun to socialize with other guests and meet new people. Highly recommend!

Snow-covered branches and shrubs are observed in the courtyard, with delicate layers of snow on the leaves. The rustic wooden structure of the house is visible in the background, partially obscured by the snow-laden foliage.

Kyoto Machiya, the owner of the tea lover with on-site parking.Chinese and English are okay for peace of mind!

Rating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I am a Chinese tourist, the owner and her son warmly welcomed us, they can communicate in simple Chinese, so it will be convenient for Chinese tourists to come here. It's about 10 minutes from the nearest subway station, which makes it not particularly convenient to get around, but fortunately, the house is rustic, comfortable to sleep in, clean and tidy. For tourists who want to experience traditional Kyoto homestays, this one is highly recommended.

Ichiro was very nice, waiting for me to check in at the door in person, and turned on the air conditioning in advance, and recommended a nearby restaurant to me.The room is clean and hygienic, and the neighborhood is quiet at night. It was a very good experience.
A well-lit interior features a wooden structure combining natural and modern elements. Two separate toilets are housed within wooden enclosures, positioned near a cozy sleeping area with tatami mat flooring. Warm lighting enhances the serene atmosphere, and a skylight above allows natural light to filter in.

Designer Remodelled Kyomachi House | 2 Bedrooms + Viewing Bath Hidden in a Quiet Lane

Our stay at Icy's apartment for two nights was absolutely fantastic! The apartment itself is stunning – it's clear everything is brand new, with beautiful furnishings and a really fancy, modern design that made us feel like we were in a high-end boutique hotel. Beyond the aesthetics, the location couldn't be better. We loved being within easy 15 minutes walking distance of all the major tourist spots, and the surrounding area was so nice and comfortable to explore. What truly made our trip exceptional was Icy, who was an incredibly helpful and responsive host. We felt so at home from the moment we arrived. Highly, highly recommend!
