Historic Amish homestead Barn loft apartment

The Nicholas Stoltzfus Homestead is the oldest restored Amish property in Berks County, bought by Immigrant Nicholas Stoltzfus (ancestor of all Stoltzfus descendants in America) in 1771. You will be staying in a peaceful and cozy barn loft apartment with a private entrance beside the stone house. You can enjoy the flower gardens and birds, tour the house, take a bike ride or picnic on the lawn. Adjacent to the property is the Union Canal Towpath on the Tulpehocken Creek.

Our goal was to create a cozy and quiet place to relax in or as a home base for checking out the area. Most of Lancaster Co. is less than a 30 min. drive away. A cafe, pizza shop and ice cream shop (the best!) are about 1/2 mile away. Many more are close by in the town of Ephrata or just a few miles farther in the town of Lititz-home of Wilbur chocolate. You will have your own space in our home, but separated by a locked door.

Gruber Homestead Settler's Cabin

The cabin is the original Settler's Cabin on the Gruber Homestead settled in 1737 by Henrich Gruber. The restoration combines the originality of the cabin with the modern amenities that make this a unique and comfortable getaway experience. Located on a rural property of 28 acres in Berks County, PA. Miniature donkeys and horses graze the pastures and add to the charm of the cabin. No pets allowed.

We are located 30-40 minutes from Lancaster and Harrisburg, and about 25 minutes from Hershey, making lots of sightseeing possibilities. Tucked into the woods of the Texter Mountain, our little home is a custom built modern getaway. Its beautiful timber framework, high steel beams for suspension, and glass front makes for the perfect retreat. We created this space as a place to be refreshed and rejuvenated and we hope it is all that, and more!
