Step into one of the oldest homes in town, dating from 1884. Curated by the owners of the design studio Reykjavík Trading Co., The Garden Cottage has been completely remodeled to provide a unique feeling, with a lot of the furniture handmade or meticulously crafted and selected from their travels to California, Scandinavia & Mexico. The land behind The Garden Cottage is home to their designed greenhouse, communal garden, chickens and their most recent addition, The Shed which is their workshop / shop where you can visit for a coffee, buy pieces or see their process of making objects. Curated by the owners & designers of Reykjavík Trading Co. (an Icelandic / California homeware company) the Garden Cottage is their first project of creating a home space for guests to experience a unique & cozy feeling while visiting Iceland. The bottom floor of the 1884 built home has been completely remodeled for guests. Everything in the home has been either made by hand by R.T.Co. or selected from their collection of preferred products & appliances. Anthony Bacigalupo & Ýr Káradóttir, the owners of The Garden Cottage, live & work in the separate upper part of the historic home & their R.T.Co. workshop is located in the back of the garden for guests to visit, learn about the pieces being crafted, or just to have a cup of coffee. We wanted to create a place for guests to experience "slow living" & create a special stay. Having designed spaces for hotels, cafes, bars we decided to put our inspiration & collection into this project & build something completely one-of-a-kind in Iceland. The home was built in 1884 & we have been remodeling & bringing back the style it once was but also bringing back the garden & farm style that was once so prominent back in the day. We believe in hospitality to the fullest which sadly doesn't exist anymore in places. Since we live on the property we can answer any questions you have or have you in for a coffee if you need help deciding your journey in Iceland. The cottage is in the oldest part of Hafnarfjörður, a small harbor town. There are great farm-to-table restaurants, bakeries, live music, artist studios and swimming pools nearby. It’s conveniently located across the road from the town’s bus terminal. The house has three stories but is broken into two flats- we live on the upper floors with our children with separate driveway and front door- but we are here for anything you need or to have a coffee in the greenhouse! Our little town can be easily walked around & explored. Shuttle stops for airport & Blue Lagoon are 3 minutes walk next to the ocean & the bus terminal into Reykjavík is close as well.

One bedroom, newly furnished apartment with amazing ocean view in a secure neighborhood. It offers access to the patio from the living room. The owner will assist you upon arrival. Sleeping arrangement The bedroom has a double bed, it can not be separated in 2 singles. A sleeper sofa for two in the living room. A crib for a child can be arranged. The neighborhood Only 10 minutes driving to Reykjavík city center. Grocery store, restaurants and more within walking distance. Only 10 minutes walk to the center of Hafnarfjörður. 3-5 minutes walk to the bus station. Locality and attractions: You can walk to a few restaurants, Serranos, American Style, Castello Pizzeria, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Gamla Vínhúsið and more. The Viking Village, Whale watching, museums and a small shopping center. How to get there from the airport: The apartment is very easy to find and it takes about 30 minutes to drive from the airport to the apartment. The cheapest way is to take a bus and the apartment owner will pick you up at the bus station. How to get there from the city center: The city center (in Reykjavík) is 10 minutes drive in a car from the apartment. It takes about 25 minutes by a bus.

Eco-friendly studio apartment

The apartment is in a building that is being built to the standards of the Swan. This means that material selection is based on causing the least amount of damage to the environment and the health of people. It is also attempted to minimize the carbon footprint of the house on a fermeter. There is good transportation in the area, but bus number 1 stops 500 m from the property. The bungalow in which the apartment is located, is still under construction. There will be no work in the house when guests are in the apartment.

Newly renovated (2023) apartment in the capital area in a pleasant and quiet environment with a great view. Fun hikes in the nature of Iceland right next door. Apartment is a 30-minute drive from Keflavik Airport and 20 minutes from downtown Reykjavik. The centre of Hafnarfjörður is a 10 minute walk from an apartment where you can find, among others, cafes, shops and bakeries. Free parking at the house. the apartment is heated. Our luxurious home with 360 aurora views is located in an exquisite nature park on the outskirts of Reykjavík. It has a well stocked kitchen, elegant furniture, a beautiful bathroom and comfortable new beds, one king and one queen. The third room is open with one single bed land beautiful views. Surrounding the property is a beautiful moss garden with a deck that offers spectacular views on the nature park, lots of hikes, a romantic lake and nearby new Fagradalsfjall volcano and Blue Lagoon.

Great family apartment, near Airport and Old town.

A spacious first floor apartment with the private entrance. It consist of an relaxing living area with the stunning view of mountains and lupine fields. Living area has sofa , TV and open dining area with the table for 4 guests and well equipped kitchen. Bathroom with a shower. Two bedrooms : one with standard double bed, another with 2 single beds. Full size toddler bed and a crib available to add in any of these rooms. 30 km from erupting volcano !

My place is about 10-15 minutes drive by car from the city centre (NOT WALKING DISTANCE). Free parking. The apartment is in a quiet neighbourhood, but is close to the main bus station in Reykjavík and public transport and easy commute to the city centre with buses. You’ll love my place because of the coziness and the quiet neighbourhood. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers.

A lovely bolthole for exploring Reykjavik! In a quiet and charming neighbourhood, it is attached to the main house but you definitely feel private enough. Comfy bed, plenty of amenities - wonderful shower. Plentiful parking and only a short distance into town. We even managed to see the Northern Lights from here!

What a great apartment. I stayed here with my wife, two children (8&10) and sister for 5 days leading up to and including NYE. The photos do not do the apartment justice! It was immaculately clean, very spacious and incredibly well equipped. There is a small supermarket, pizza restaurant and coffee shop (although the latter was closed when we were there) within 150m walk. You also have larger supermarket in 5min drive, plus a 20min drive to downtown Reykjavík and great access to get onto main road routes for golden circle, south coast and Rekjanes peninsula. We hired a car and did day trips from here & Great to relax here after a road trip! Large balcony with views over towards Reykjavík which was incredible on NYE with the whole city alight with fireworks & especially with the friendly residents putting on their own firework displays. The host recommended a local bonfire and fireworks display which the kids loved. Parking is straightforward too! Will definitely stay here again

Margrét's place is located in a lovely area with nice walks and not too far from the centre of Reykjavík. The apartment was spotless, had plenty of stock for travellers and was quiet. Margrét left us many essentials such as shampoo, cooking oil etc. Overall a great place to stay.

Erna and Jón were both great hosts. Place was spotless, very welcoming and made us feel at home. It’s very well located as is only a short drive away to city centre. It’s also very easy to drive to airport, blue lagoon or golden circle from there. There was plenty of free parking on site and literally at home. Would definitely recommend Erna’s and Jón’s place to anyone who wants to visit Reykjavik and surrounding touristic areas.

We had a wonderful stay at Berglind's place. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures show. It was spotless, with a stunning and well-equipped kitchen, and incredibly comfortable beds. Berglind is also very kind and communicative. Overall, our stay was amazing, and we would love to come back!
